The next morning Adrien woke up and got ready for school. When he came down for breakfast, the only person he saw was Felix. His cousin was sitting at the table eating some cereal. Adrien got a bowl and spoon set next to his cousin and began to eat too. Adrien let his mind wander as he sat at the table deep in thought. This is what his life has been for the past two years. He has been living with Felix. His Father lives here too of course but it's like he doesn't. Adrien never sees him. Gabriel is always locked away in his room or office working. Adrien often feels as if he has lost both his parents. He's aware that Felix knows the feeling. His father was a horrible abusive man and his mother never wanted to be a parent in the first place. Adrien on the other hand had a mother who went missing after a tragic event months prior to her disappearance, and a father who is only a shell of his old self. They only have each other. It's Adrien and Felix against the world. Once they finished breakfast, they headed out to school. Adrien was excited and Felix could see it all over his cousin's face as they were being taken to school by the bodyguard. Felix looked over at the other blond and said, "I can see you are excited Adrien but maybe you should try to contain yourself until after school." Adrien looked over at Felix with a big smile. "I'm sorry Felix but I have not been this excited since before the accident. I'm going to start going back to my life before it struck tragedy." Felix's lips quirked up as he said, "Does that mean we are going to start seeing the real Adrien again." The model pushed his cousin lightly on the arm and stated, "Maybe ." Adrien was slowly coming back to himself. He was not this quiet, serious, and obedient model who did everything his dad asked him to do. Before the events that led to his mom's disappearance, he was silly, light-hearted, ambitious, mischievous, and a jokester. He was….. Chat Noir! Adrien had not realized it at first when he took on the role of being the cat-themed hero in black. He did not even think about it for a while that he was acting like his old self. It's like when he became Chat Noir he became himself again. After the disaster that his family went through, Adrien lost all his normality. He became a shell of who he used to be. Adrien thought he would never be the same. That his old self was gone forever and would never return. When Adrien put on the black cat miraculous for the first time and transformed into Chat Noir, he felt that same fire that he once felt before. It's like Plagg pulled that out of him. Somehow Plagg was able to pull the old Adrien to the suffice after being underwater for so long.
Once the car pulled up, both boys got out. They went into the school heading straight for the lockers. They got out all the things they needed for their first class and started to head that way. Nino, Alya, and Marinette joined them as they all walked toward the same classroom. Marinette began to think to herself about what Chat had said. "Just be yourself. Be comfortable with who you are. Don't care about what anyone thinks. Adrien needs to know how I feel." "What are you saying Marinette?" Nino said from right beside her. Marinette's heart skipped several beats. Was she saying that out loud! Marinette looked over at Nino and realized everyone was looking at her and had stopped walking when Nino spoke. She had no idea what to say. How much of that did he hear? Did he even hear any of it or did he just hear mumbling? Marinette began to stutter and was not saying anything in coherent sentences. Her heart was racing a million miles a minute. Did they all hear it or was it just Nino? Alya spoke up, "Marinette, calm down. It's not that big of a deal." Marinette looked between her friends. She was trying desperately to come up with anything that would end this whole nightmare. Marinette caught herself looking at Adrien and immediately tore her look away from him. "I just forgot my Homework for math class and it's due today. I'm just really freaking out about it. If I don't turn it in then my grades will drop." Marinette waited holding in a breath as she searched for a reaction from any of them. Alya gave her an amused smile. "Girl that reaction about something so simple really? You could just call your mom and have her bring it to you or you could run to your place during lunch since math class is after that." Nino chuckled along with Alya. "Yeah, no need to have a panic attack." Marinette began to relax at that moment. Marinette was beyond relieved that no one heard her. Marinette looked back to Adrien who wore a simple but beautiful smile on his face. Marinette could not help but smile too. But something or more like someone caught her eye. Felix was glaring at Marinette. She locked eyes with him for a few moments. There is something there Marinette knows that much. The stare he gives her sometimes makes Marinette wonder if he hates her. Anytime she is under his gaze, Marinette feels almost hatred coming from him. She is not sure what she did because Felix was not like this with her before. Felix never paid Marinette much attention before not that Marinette minded. He was not the one she loved after all. She is not sure what she did or if she did anything at all to cause this. But if there is one thing Marinette knows from the looks he gives her, He does not like her. Felix grabbed Adrien's arm and began to guide him in the direction of the classroom. Adrien began to walk with him along with Nino and Ayla. Marinette stood there for a few more minutes getting her bearings before continuing to walk to class with the others.
