A Double Twisted Nightmare Chapter 11
Leon wakes up, discovers he's been treated and that Ada is gone. "Ada!" Leon calls as he stands but there was no reply. He heads over to a machine that can take him up and finds himself by a water gate. He heads over the where the mouth of it is, and looks down at the dirty water.
"I got no choice." he said jumping down. He wrinkles his nose at the smell but moves to the left. He sees a mechanism where he can open the door but doesn't have the tool he needs, 'It looks like the one in the secret room in the station.' Leon realizes.
He moves on, heading left at a fork that was a dead end due to bars, but finds ammo. Heading back and going right this time he hits a zombie before hitting stairs to find mercenary bodies. "What happened to you?" he asks aloud as he searches them for anything important and finds a tape. He hears moaning and shoots the zombie that tried sneaking up on him.
Leon tries one door then another across from it but they were both locked. He then checks out a machine that had a chess piece in it. 'Its a rook but I don't think I should remove it just yet.' Leon took notice that the catwalk next to it, can move. Dispatching another zombie, he tries the last door but it too was locked.
He heads down the stairs and back into gross water. As he reaches the end of this waterway, he finds that it has a ramp that goes to the next floor. Having no where else to go he slides down it.
"Ugh! I so need a shower. A long one." Leon said in disgust. He goes to an aera on his left but it needs a tool, but he grabs the herb. He continues onwards finding another fork, but the way left is blocked. As he heads to the right he sees something in the water.
"Great. What now?" he asked readying his shotgun. He shoots it and it was a creature with an eyeball. Remembering the fight back in the underground facility, he shoots the eye until it was dead. "Ok I'll stick with the magnum for now." he said as he used too many shotgun shells on it. He heads up the stairs.
He finds a cable car as he comes into a new room. "That must be how to get to that NEST lab that Ada talked about." Leon said going up the stairs before climbing a ladder.
As he reaches the top, he hears gunshots from the room next to him. "Who?!" Leon said in surprise. He slowly opens the door and sees Claire holding her gun. "Claire!" Leon said happily going over to her. "Leon!" Claire said happy to see him.
They hug, relieved that the other was still alive. "Did you find Sherry?" Leon asks, as they let go.
"Yes, but our reunion didn't last. That monster in a coat followed us, then that eyeball monster came after us but not before killing the monster. I lost consciousness for awhile. Then I met Sherry's mom, Annette." Claire said.
"What happened to you?" Claire said in concern, taking note of his injury. "I was with Ada when we confronted Annette, but she can use a gun and got a lucky strike. I too, lost consciousness, when I awoke Ada was gone. But not before she treated me." he said.
"So Sherry and Annette are related?" Leon asks. "Yes, she's not much of a mother in the brief moment we had together." Claire tells him.
"Somehow I'm not surprised. What happened to Irons?" he asks.
"He's dead. The eyeball monster got him with something, not sure what. Just to let you know, Sherry called it her father." Claire said.
"Wait.. That creature is her father?" Leon asked startled.
"Yes looks like he took a different virus than the ones we've seen, but just like a flesh creature in the sewers. Did you run across any?" Claire asks. "Yeah." Leon responds.
"Do you have any idea where Ada went?" she asks. "No, just that she went after Annette." he answers.
"Ok let's see if we can find Sherry and Ada." Claire said looking over some documents.
"Claire I think it's time you came clean with me." Leon says out of the blue. Claire turns towards him, "I don't what you-" she starts to say, but Leon comes up to her and grabs her by the arms. "No games! I had to hear a father kill his daughter because she was changing into a zombie, it was too late for her! You know more than what your telling! Why are you really here?" he asks sternly.
Claire doesn't know what to say. She hears just how traumatized Leon was about what happened with him, but she couldn't tell him the reason why she was in Raccoon. 'Leon will be in danger if I do.' she was determined not to let him get more involved with her. "Leon, I came here on a assignment. I was sent-" before she can finish her lie, they hear something below them.
"What was that?" Claire going over to a hole, grateful for the distraction. "Don't know. Let's check it out." Leon said, he lets it go for now. Claire jumps down followed by Leon. They go over to some windows, peer down to see Ada unconscious and Sherry talking to someone.
"Sherry, I told you to stay home! That I would get you once things were settled!" Annette voice is heard by Sherry.
"I-I know what you said, but zombies are everywhere. I didn't know what else to do." Sherry said.
"Then you should have called the police. I know me and your father are not home often, but we did teach you to call them if there's an emergency!" Annette said.
"I did but no one answered. Mommy please-" Sherry tries to speak but is interrupted.
"Sherry I have no time for this. I got work to do." Annette said.
"I heard that before." Sherry said, but there is no reply. Sherry feels ill and places herself of the ground.
"Oh no, something is wrong." Claire said looking at Sherry in concern.
"Yeah we need to get to them asap." Leon said concerned.
They head to their right but find the door sealed shut. "Hey.. these look like something I saw earlier." Leon said looking at the chess pieces. Claire looks over some papers, "So it's a puzzle with puzzles." she said. They head back to the main part of the room and find a map.
"I found the rook in this hall." Leon said pointing to the lower waterway overpass.
"Why didn't you grab it?" Claire asked curiously.
"I think it was connected to a machine. If I moved it the machine might've moved. At this point there is no way back there." he said.
"There probably is, we just need to find it." she said.
They leave the monitor room, going into the treatment pool room where Claire pulls a switch to bring down a catwalk.
As they get to the other side, "Claire, let's check out that cable car." Leon said. They find a tool and the cable car says they need a wrist band.
"We'll figure this out later." Claire said.
"This tool.. I think it's the tool we need to go pass those doors that need to go up. And if I remember right, this is the tool to get back in the police station." Leon said.
"There was one door under the station we couldn't open, the one by the case. The sewers might connect with that, considering the Umbrella lab is underneath it." Claire said.
"So we just need to find the way." Leon said.
They leave the cable car and go to the other side of the room, where they find a safe, herb and a corpse. Leon shoot it in the head, and Claire looks for anything that can open it. "Check it out." Claire said pointing to the side of the safe.
They open it, finding a shotgun stock for Leon and a reinforced frame for Claire. They apply the parts to the weapons they fit. "These are as good as they'll get." Claire said looking over her SLS gun. "Yeah." Leon said checking to make certain the shotgun was ready.
They go to the central stairs but before the hub they hear moaning. Leon throws a grenade and blow up two zombies. They enter the central hub before firing on the corpse in the room. "Hey, that lever can release those bars. We can use the lower waterway from here." Leon flipping it down and the bars go up.
They head down some stairs to the bottom waterway overpass but stop because the doorway is blocked. They use the tool and get through to the overpass. They find some keys on the desk and stairs that lead to the upper waterway. "I opened up this way, just in case." Leon said coming down the stairs. "We'll probably encounter the way later, let's go down the ladder." Claire said.
They get down to the bottom waterway and take in their surroundings. "This.. is creepy." Claire said looking at all flesh and corpses. "No kidding. Let's move." Leon said.
They move near corpse that has something come out of it. "Holy shit!" Leon shouts surprised. "That is what came out of Irons." Claire said just as surprised. A wall of leash blocks their way, so they climb on flesh that is like a ramp. They look around and see flesh creatures roaming.
They jump off the flesh and Leon readies his magnum, they go foreword when one of the creatures appear. Leon shoots it four times before it dies. "I'll take the next one." Claire said her machine gun ready. They go around a bend where another one is waiting and Claire pumps it full of lead in its eye. They make it to the platform to get out of the water.
They head in the supplies storage room, they find an herb, and as they go down some stairs, they find the king and queen chess plugs. "It look like getting them out of here is a riddle." Leon said. There were plug ins all around the room, they just needed the right combination to get them out.
Claire takes out the queen and the doorway is blocked. So they find a machine where to put the queen and the the door slides to the right. They walk over to a set of stairs and see a body over the railing, Leon shoots its head with his Matilda. They head up and find the king plug, which Leon takes out. The door way shuts but they jump down where a gap is.
They head pass the queen, then insert the king into a machine and the doorway is clear. They head in and find big weapons, a chemical flamethrower and a spark shot. "I call dibs on the flamethrower." Leon said grabbing it. "Fine, just don't burn my hair." Claire says teasingly as she grabs the spark shot.
"We got to be careful these. There most likely is not a lot of ammo for them." Leon warns.
They unlock a door, before grabbing the king. Then the queen before reinserting it in the first machine they found it in. Leon place the king in the machine by the stairs. Claire goes around grabs the queen, comes back to the stairs and Leon grabs the king. "Ok, now we just need the rook." Leon said.
They leave the room for the bottom waterway. They take out two more flesh creatures before going up another ramp of flesh, before jumping off it.
As they were going for the ladder, one creature jumps out from the water and grabs Claire. "Let go!" she yells trying to prevent it from infecting her. "You bastard! Take this!" Leon shouts hitting it in its eye with the magnum. It lets go of Claire and Leon takes it down.
"You all right?" Leon asks going over to her. "Yeah thank you." Claire said. They go back up the ladder, continuing their way back to the central hub. Once there, they get into the lower waterway and over to where another door that needs the tool is. Once the door opens they go in and find a lift as well as ammo.
Claire gets on the lift first, "What are you waiting for? Get on!" she said. Leon gets as close as possible to Claire and they go up to the workroom.
They see a body on the ground and Claire shoots it in the head with her SLS. They find ammo and a film roll, "'Hiding places' eh? Can't wait to see it." Claire said pocketing it. "Hey, we can carry even more things." Leon said tossing a hip pouch to her.
They go out on the lower water way over pass, taking out a zombie that appears. "Let's check out the worker's break room first." Claire said. They went in finding gunpowder and ammo. "Leon, these cabinets.. I think they can be moved." Claire said seeing scratches on the wall. They push it to the left and find an elevator.
They get on, going up to the worker's storage and finding more ammo. Then they go up the stairs to a barred door, "This is the door we couldn't get into! Back when we used the statue." Claire said unlocking it.
They get in the room that had the case with gun parts. "Here it is." Leon said after finding the badge and inserts in the lock. It opens with a long barrel for Leon's magnum and a suppressor for Claire's machine gun. They apply the parts before going back to the elevator that will take them to the secret room.
Once back in that room they use the tool and the passage opens the way back into the station. "Ok. That monster is dead so we have nothing to worry about now. We can handle zombies and lickers." Leon said but Claire was unsure. 'There has to be another one.' Claire had not forgotten her theory that there was two of them.
They go to the dark room to develop the film they found, there are two pictures. One has microphone and the other a desk with a flag. "The second one was taken in the S.T.A.R.S office." Claire said, she would recognize that desk anywhere. "I think the press room is what the first one is saying." Leon said.
"All right, let's go to the second floor and work our way down." Claire said.
They head up to the S.T.A.R.S office and search the desk, finding two wooden boxes. They open them, in one was a red dot sight for a magnum and in the other was a high-capacity magazine for a submachine gun. "Zombies look out." Claire said smugly as she and Leon put the parts on their respective guns.
They hear something roll in the drawer they had pulled out. Claire reaches in and finds another film roll. "Looks like we need to make another stop." Leon said.
They go back to the dark room, develop it and it was just a picture of a young girl, in a basketball uniform. "This is Rebecca Chambers, she was the rookie of S.T.A.R.S." Claire said. 'Why did Albert have this?' Claire takes a mental note to talk to Albert.
They then went to the press room, took care of a zombie that somehow got in, and searched the drawers where the microphone is. There is a can of fuel for Leon's flamethrower and a needle cartridge for Claire's spark shot. They take them, "Ok, we're done here let's get back down there and rescue the girls." Leon said.
They went all the way back to the the worker's break room, "Hey that poster looks weird." Claire said looking at a jazz poster that had circles on letters. They get out on the overpass, Leon runs to the water injection chamber to grab some gunpowder.
Once he was back with Claire, she removes the rook and the catwalk goes up. "Hey Claire, I didn't think about before, but I've seen a locker in the control room, right before we found Sherry and Ada." Leon said. "Ok we'll go there first. It will be on the way." Claire said.
They get back on the lift and go down to where the lower waterway is. They defeat one creature before taking the stairs back to the control room. Once there Claire opens the locker, after putting in the combination that they realized was on the poster, find ammo. They take it before jumping back down into the control room.
They went over to the machines and put the chess plugs in the right order, causing the door to unlock.
"Wait, I just remembered I picked up a tape off of some mercenaries. Let's watch before we go in." Leon said. They watch it and are disgusted at what they see.
"So the rats are the reason the virus got loose. After those guys got careless, the eyeball monster got them and the rats a free meal at the cost of thousands." Claire said.
"Nothing we can do.. Let's get Sherry and Ada." Leon said.
They get down to the garbage doors but they had no power. "When did Annette turn that off?" Leon asked.
"Don't know, but we need to turn it back on." Claire said. They head over to the power area, after reading some notes, Claire figures out how to turn it on. Once it was on, they get ready to get them out, when a clawed arm comes through the ceiling. It hits some gas barrels, and a fire breaks out.
"Fuck! It's back!" Claire shouts as they back away from the fire. It was still punching through the ceiling to get them, but thankfully they found a spot that is safe from that. "We gotta get out of here!" Leon shouts, but they have no idea how.
The monster was still punching through the ceiling and the fire blocks the only way out. Then they hear the monster coming from the wall. "It's trying to come in! When it does run like hell!" Leon yells. "Ok!" Claire yells.
They stand in front of the wall, the monster tears into it and the moment it breaks it down, Leon and Claire run passed it. They run down a hall turning right onto a catwalk, they jump off it, landing on a platform. They see the platform as a crane and cerate on it.
"This can help us! Leon distract the creature, while I get this thing going!" Claire shouts as she goes over the controls. She turns on the crane, having it take the cerate to the other side, just as the eyeball monster comes towards them.
"I'm right here you son of a bitch!" Leon shouts shooting at the eye. It chases Leon around until Claire shouts, "Its coming back! Get out of the way!" she meant Leon. Once Leon sees it he gets back to Claire as the cerate hits the creature. Unfortunately, while it knocked it off its feet, it was able to grab the ledge and pull itself up.
"Fuck! Try it again!" Leon shouts and Claire hits the button, the crane and create move as the monster comes towards them. Leon hits its eye with his handgun and runs over to the other end of the platform. "Come on you bastard!" he yells at it.
It chases Leon around again until, "Leon!" was Claire's warning that the crane was coming back. They gets over to Claire and shoots the eye on the monster, causing it to go to it's knees and the cerate hits it again. This time, despite the monsters efforts to stop it, the create knocks the monster off the platform. The link breaks, the cerate and the monster fall into into nothingness.
They look over the side where it fell. "..I don't think its dead." Claire said. "I have to agree with you." Leon said.
"Nothing more we can do. Let's get the girls." Leon said. They head along a makeshift path, leading to stairs and a door. They unlock to the door and head over to the garbage doors, Claire pulls down the switch. They head in, "Ada? Sherry? Where are you?" Leon asks. "We're over here!" Ada calls out to them.
They rush over to where they were, Ada was awake but Sherry was barely awake. Leon goes to Ada, while Claire goes to Sherry.
"I think there's something wrong with her." Ada said, grunting as Leon removes the twisted metal from her. Claire turns Sherry over and sees by her left eye that she is infected. "Oh no.." Claire said.
"Looks like she was infected with the g-virus." Ada said, as Leon patches her up. Then a voice comes on the intercom, "Sherry? Mommy is here, are you ok?" Annette's voice is heard. "No, she's not. She's infected with the g-virus." Claire said to the camera.
"Leave that woman and you two bring Sherry to my lab. There's a cable car that can bring you here." Annette said.
"We're not leaving Ada." Leon said.
"You don't understand, Sherry has been implanted by the g. If you don't get her here soon, she'll be..." Annette trails off.
"There's an antiviral, just leave that woman. I won't have her in the lab." Annette said.
"Then I won't go into the lab." Ada said.
Annette is silent for a moment, "... the cable car. You have to stay on the cable car. Understand if I see you in the NEST itself, I'll consider the other two enemies." she said.
"Fine." Ada said.
Leon picks up Sherry, Ada said she doesn't need his assistance, and they all go to the cable car. Ada uses the wristband, surprising the two that she had it.
"Hang in there Sherry. We'll save you." Claire said as Leon laid Sherry down on the seat. She removes her jacket and puts it on Sherry, before going over to the controls. Claire starts it up and they go further underground.
Ada explains how the g-virus works, "...so after you read the papers, its not too surprising that the monster, who is Sherry's father, implanted that embryo." she finishes telling them.
"I see... but Sherry did not what that." Leon said looking over at her. Claire already knew this but it sounded like the Birkin's had underestimated the virus in that regard.
They finally arrive at the NEST, "Ok this is where we part ways." Ada said.
"Ada-" Leon tries to speak but is interrupted.
"Leon, you heard Annette. If she sees me in there, she will not hesitate to kill you and Claire." Ada reminds him.
"Just try to swipe the g-virus from under her nose. That way I can take it back to headquarters, so we can have a cure be made." Ada said. 'Yeah, right.' Claire knew that Ada was trying to manipulate Leon but couldn't call her out on it, because she needed to get the g-virus. 'Though now, there's another way.' Sherry was infected with the g-virus but she'll go for the vial in the lab.
"Here, this wrist band should help." Ada said giving it to him.
"Thanks Ada." Leon said putting it on.
"Please Leon get that virus. We can't let another tragedy like Raccoon City happen." Ada said.
Claire feels a tug on her wrist and looks down at Sherry. "Claire... why is it you and Leon are helping?" she asks.
"Because we care." Claire said with a smile, it was the truth. Even with her mission, she would never leave a child behind.
She looks back over at Leon and Ada, but looks away again as they share a kiss. 'He was never going to be yours anyway, Claire. You are to be Mrs. Albert Wesker. Besides I don't think Ada is serious about a relationship. But Leon is smart, he'll figure it out before too long.' Claire reminds herself of why she was here.
"All right, let's go." Leon said picking up Sherry and the three of them leave Ada. "Remember, I'm counting on you two." Ada said once they were out.
They head down the steps, going over to a huge door that unlocks once Leon gets close enough to it, but it was slow. Once the way was clear, they enter a reception aera. They find a door on their left that had a bed and Leon puts Sherry on it. "It's going to be ok Sherry, we'll save you." Leon said.
"This jacket is so warm." she mutters.
"Yeah, you can keep it. As long as the stench comes out." Claire said.
"Claire... that wristband Leon has... I've got one too." Sherry said holding up her arm.
"It was a gift from my mom... but I think its best you have it for now." she said taking it off.
"Are you sure?" Claire asks.
"Yeah, mom won't notice its gone." she said giving it to Claire.
Claire puts it on and Leon says, "Hey, found a map for this part of the lab."
"Let's get going. We can't wait for Annette." Claire said. "Yeah. Sherry, we'll be back soon." Leon said as they left the room.
They try to go through the door on their left but it won't let them through. "We need higher clearance." Claire said. They grab what ammo is available and check the computer, before heading over to the visitors corridor. They find blood splatter on the walls, "Stay sharp." Leon said as they enter the cafeteria.
They shoot all the zombies in there, before gathering gun ammo, a grenade, fuel for Leon and a cartridge for Claire. They climb up a ladder into a ventilation tunnel, before jumping down into the kitchen. They grab anything useful before going into the general staff corridor and taking out a zombie.
"Hey I encountered some pals of his back in the sewers, but they didn't become zombies." Leon said. "Guess he wasn't the lucky one." Claire said
They head into the nap room, where they find two hands with blue wristbands. They grab the blue chips and insert them on their bands, then they grab ammo and find a regulator for Leon, a high voltage condenser for Claire.
"Let's apply our new stuff once we hit light." Claire said.
They go back to the reception, putting on the parts they found, check in on Sherry before leaving for the main shaft. "The computer said the antiviral was in the west lab." Claire said.
As they near the center they see another body in black, Leon searches it and finds a tape recorder. They listen to it describe how things went down with the g-virus and by the way it sounds, it didn't go well.
They make a bridge to the center of the shaft, but when they try to make one for the western part, it wouldn't let them. "Damn! More higher clearance is needed." Leon said. They go over to the east and a bridge forms, once they clear the console.
They head across into the entry, then the lobby where they find gunpowder. They head into what looks like a presentation room and see a disturbing sight. A man in a hazmat suit was pressed up against the window by a vine. The man was dead, his face full of horror.
"I wonder what happened." Leon said looking shocked.
"I think the plants killed him." Claire said in horrified awe.
She then sees two purple chips in his right hand, pressed against the window. "There's our clearance but how do we get them? I don't think the plants will let us get them." Claire said.
"I got a flamethrower, but I don't think that alone is a good idea." Leon said frustrated.
"We'll just have to wait until we find something." Claire said.
They try to head out the door but it seemed to be stuck on something, before it gives way. Claire and Leon stare at the herbage that coated the entire room. "..Tread carefully. Who knows what we'll find." Leon said as they go in. They find gunpowder, but a new enemy comes, a plant zombie. They shoot at it, taking note of the bulbs on it and it falls. They quickly go to the next room.
They find a control room, "I think this place was used to keep the plants in check but something went wrong." Claire said. Leon touches a console and a computer animated voice speaks. "Dispensing solution." it said but nothing was being released in the greenhouse. A dispersal cartridge then comes out and Claire takes it, "This will be useful." she said pocketing it.
They head out to the green house, taking the catwalk to a hatch that had a code on it. "I see.. the computer in the control room can unlock this. Let's head to that other path that leads to the door." Claire said. They enter the drug testing lab and find notes on how to stop plant 42.
"Claire, I found where you need to make that synthesis but it's locked and I only found half of the code needed to unlock it." Leon said.
"Ok back to the control room then." Claire said.
They get back, Claire inputs the code on the hatch and it said it opened. They get over to the hatch, where a ladder had taken its place and climb down. They find a map that says they're in the maintenance passage and gunpowder. They head in the next room, but it was dark. They try a door, in a little hall, on their left but they discover that like the nap room, there is no power. "We need to fix the power problem." Claire said.
They over the lounge part of the room and see four bodies on the floor as well as blood splatter and familiar scratches in the wall. They shoot them all in their heads, find ammo and a trophy. Leon shines light on the trophy, "The bottom has the remaining half of the password needed to unlock that machine we need!" he said excitedly.
"Right! But we still need to restore power." Claire said.
They approach the exit, a noise is heard. "A licker is still here! Get ready!" Claire said readying herself. They shoot in front of them, when the licker appears but they hear another screech.
"Out the door!" Leon shouts. They exit just as the other licker attacks with it's claws. They breath heavily, "That was too close, good thing they can't open doors. Once we come back this way, we'll get rid of it." Leon said recovering.
They head through the door to a stairway, taking care of zombies, regular and a plant. Leon uses his flamethrower once it was down, "Just to make sure it won't bother us again." he said. They take out a zombie that's on a railing, then enter a store room where one more zombie is dispatched.
They find gunpowder and a signal modulator, "This should restore power downstairs but first we need to get back to the control room." Claire said. "Ok." Leon said putting down a note, it had advice that they already knew.
They unlock the door leading into the lobby, then they had all the way back to the control room. "Stupid plants." Leon said as Claire put the password in the computer, they had encountered two plant zombies in the specimen room. "Ok the machine is unlocked, but Plant 42 has to be aware that we are threats to it by now. Let's be careful as we enter the greenhouse." Claire said.
They get to the drug lab, Claire inserts the cartridge and gets the right amount of solution. The cartridge came out filled and Claire grabs it, "Now we need to freeze it. Let's get back downstairs." she said.
Once they exit they see a plant zombie waiting for them, but they were able to dodge it and get down the ladder. Once they enter the lounge again, they slowly move trying to figure out where the live licker went. They find it in the center and kill it. Claire then goes over to the power area, "MURF huh? Ok let's see." Claire modifying the modulator and inserting it once it was ready.
The power comes on, "Ok, I'll check out the sever room. You go on ahead to the low temp lab." Leon said as Claire grabs the signal modulator.
Claire heads into the lab, going passed desks with equipment and shoots a body's head, before entering a really cold place. "Brr.. Had I know that is would be this cold, I would've brought a spare jacket." Claire said. She finds where to insert the cartridge, and an automated voice says, "Freezing process activated."
As it was freezing Claire looks around to find gunpowder and gloves, when Leon enters the room. "Whoa! Antarctica or what?" he said holding himself. "Freezing process complete." the automated voice said and Claire grabs the cartridge, with gloves, once it appeared.
They leave the cold room, "That's better. I found a knife, gunpower, fuel for me and a needle cartridge for you." Leon said giving ammo to Claire. "Thanks. Let's go before the solution unfreezes, Sherry doesn't have much time." she said.
They head up the stairs, Leon incinerating the plant zombies in the specimen room, before they arrive back at the control room. Claire inserts the frozen cartridge in the console and hits the button. "Dispersing solution." the computer voice said as Claire removed the gloves. The room was coated in the solution before long, once it was done they head into the greenhouse.
The computer gives a warning to them which they ignore, they were not Umbrella. They get over to where the body was, it was now on the ground with the purple chips.
As they grab them, they hear a noise on the window. They look up and see the monster in black, it was punching it's way towards them. "Run!" Claire screams. They get away from it, just as it breaks the window. They get back to the control room, before getting back to the lobby and making their way over to the center of the main shaft.
As they catch their breath, Leon speaks, "I'm sorry Claire... I should've... taken your idea... seriously."
"No harm done... We got away from it." she said as they recover.
"Let's head back to the north area. We should check on Sherry and head back to the nap room. We're bound to find something, once the power is back on." Leon said inserting a purple chip on his wrist band. "Ok, but let's be quick." Claire said inserting her own chip.
They head to where Sherry is, she was ok but they had to get a move on. They head back to the nap room, over to where the power area said 'MUF'. Claire puts it in the modulator and places it one, as Leon has his gun ready. Once the power comes on, two zombies fall out of the bunks and Leon gets them both in their heads.
Claire takes back the modulator as Leon searches the beds. "Hey more storage." he said tossing a hip pouch to Claire. Once they were ready they head back to the main shaft.
They go up to the console that can make a bridge to the west lab and hit the button. Once the bridge appeared, they head across the get the antiviral. As they head in they find more mercenaries dead and grab a video, as well as a grenade. They go pass a door that had forced open and find themselves in a room with no power. They find another power aera that had the code 'OSS' and Claire adjusts the modulator to it. She places it and the power comes back on.
They find a computer that states that William Birkin was under investigation for betraying Umbrella. "I see.. When Umbrella realized that he was trying to leave they sent in those men." Leon said.
Leon pops in the video taken from the dead bodies in the hall. They watch as the person who was recording it messed up by killing Birkin and that they took the vials.
"So they got a virus from here that spread into the sewers, but what about Birkin? How did he mutate?" Claire asks confused.
"Well that part wasn't covered. He ended up getting his virus somehow." Leon was also confused as to how Sherry's father was able to become that monster.
"Enough, let's get that vial." Claire said.
They grab an herb before making their way to the testing lab. Once in there they look around to find the virus and antiviral. They found other things, then "Leon! I found the antiviral!" Claire said excitedly, she was at the desk aera.
Leon goes over to her, "Good. In the video it showed Birkin taking the virus from the other side but it needs some kind of key." he said. 'Damn! Annette must have it... Later.' Claire then said, "Let's get back to Sherry."
As they get across the overpass, they hear something above. They turn and see the mutated Birkin enter from the ceiling. "Not now!" Claire shouts pointing her gun at it. "Fuck!" Leon yells also pointing his gun. Then the doors open behind them and Annette comes in, "William!"
"Your mine!" Annette said as she beside Claire and shoots an acid round at it. The monster shrieks in pain, falling to its knees but was still alive. Annette reloads quickly and shoots again, the creature falls forward this time, seemingly dead.
"I'm sorry William." she said.
"Umbrella.. This mess is your fault." Annette said.
"How can you say your not responsible?" Leon asked her.
"I helped to make the g virus, but this was never suppose to happen!" Annette shouts.
"Say it however you like, you still made the virus." Claire said.
"Yes but William.. why did you have to be stupid after they left?" Annette tells them what happened after the Umbrella special forces left.
Apparently, Birkin was not dead like they had thought. He was furious that they took his work, but had a back up plan. His own creation. He injected himself with it. Annette came across him just after he infected himself and was horrified. As he was walking, twitching as the virus took hold, Annette sees his gun. She grabs it, with the intention of killing him before the virus took control but she couldn't do it.
"I don't know why I didn't kill him then. It would have saved a lot of trouble if I did." Annette says coming out of her memory.
"He was your husband." Claire answered for her.
"Yes, but at the end of the day we were more married to our work than each other. When you think about it, Sherry coming into being was a miracle itself." Annette said.
"Perhaps.. but there must have been something between you two if that happened." Leon said.
"But what I don't understand is why you left Sherry alone. She was terrified when we found her." Claire said, her voice hard.
"So I was suppose to let William run amok? What person would want the g-virus in a world with her and other children? I did what I thought was best! And that woman, she's not what you-" Annette tries to say something about Ada, when the monster gets back up and grabs Annette.
"Ugh!" Annette shouts in pain as it squeezes her painfully, before tossing her over to the wall.
"Annette!" they both shout as they run to check on her. The monster mutates once more, gaining a full arm the same as the other and gains two more.
"I'll end this." Annette said putting another round in the gun. She gets up, stumbles over to where she can get a clear shot when Leon goes past her. "What are you-?!" she tries to ask but Claire hits a button causing the bridge to go down.
As the bridge goes down Claire walk over to her, "We'll end this." Claire said, giving her the antiviral.
"Be there for Sherry." she said before hoping over the railing. As she gets beside Leon, Annette calls out, "Come back alive! There's something you have to know!"
"Don't worry! We'll come back!" Leon shouts back as he and Claire ready themselves.
Once the bridge was down, an automated voice says that the aera they're in is quarantined until further notice, they get distance from the G3. "Leon, it has one more eye than the last time we faced him. It is on it's leg." Claire said, she sees it from where their at. "That means we have to hit all three to take him down." Leon said as the monster charges at them.
They separate, Leon hits the shoulder with his shotgun and Claire goes for the eye in it's back with the JMB. Once those eyes were gone they attack the eye on the leg at the same time. It goes on it's knees and a dozen eye balls emerged from its abdominal area. Leon gets an idea, he brings out his flamethrower and blasts the eyes.
It works, but it was no enough, the eyes that they hit before come back and it gets back on its feet.
They hide behind some equipment as it grabs heavy machinery and throws it at them.
They shoot once it was safe, taking it once more on its knees and the eyes gone. Its dozen eyes appear again, Leon uses his flamethrower and Claire her submachine gun.
It roars and they back away, but the dozen eyes remain, they are red. "Ok let's finish this!" Claire shouts.
It swings around wildly, they keep their distance and shoot at the eyes. Claire readies her spark shot and shoots it at the eyes. She holds the charge and the creature twitches until the eyes explode, it finally fell.
"Target neutralized. Service lift activated." an automotive voice speaks.
They take some herbs, for the creature touched them briefly with its claws. Then they grab what they can find, they know better than to leave ammo or health items behind, before going over to the lift. They head up and go all the way back the north area.
They enter the security room, they find Annette sitting in a chair asleep and Sherry still on the bed. They get closer, both on either side of Annette, and see that Sherry is looking better. "Hey I knew you two would make it." Sherry said.
"But mom is the one that needs help now." she said. "Annette?" Claire touching her shoulder and she comes alive.
Annette looks at her daughter, "How are you feeling?" she asks. "I feel better mommy." Sherry said.
Annette tries to stand up but she is weak and almost falls. Leon tries to catch her, but she puts up her hand and looks up at a screen.
"Sherry, you'll be weak for awhile, but you should make a full recovery." Annette said.
Leon and Claire are excited for Sherry. "You two... I need a moment with Sherry. Please give us some privacy? It will only be a few minutes." Annette asks.
They leave the room, "Claire let's head to the back office." Leon said grabbing her hand.
They arrive at the back office and Leon turns to her, "Claire... Please tell me the truth. Why did you come here?" Leon asks not letting go of her hand. "Leon please don't-" Claire tries to protest but is interrupted.
"You came to Raccoon City for some reason. It's not your brother, he's somewhere else. It's not home, you don't live here. It's nothing obvious, you came here with an agenda. What organization are you working for? If you are working for one, why didn't you just say so?" Leon asks. Claire is silent.
"Is it the g-virus? Is that why you came here?" Leon tries to push her. Claire tries to pull away, but Leon tightens his grip. "Don't runaway, I can tell your a good person. Whatever the reason, you came here because it was to help. You or someone. Is it your brother? Is that why you didn't tell-" Leon is interrupted by a knock on the door.
It opens, it was Sherry.
"Mom says you can come in now. She says its important." Sherry said. "Ok, let's hear what she has to say." Claire said removing her hand from Leon.
They all go back to the security room, where Annette is sitting.
"Listen up you two, that abomination is still alive." Annette holds up her hand as Leon tries to speak.
"It is alive due to the g-virus, it will continue to mutate until is becomes indestructible. If I had gotten it before it got this far, I would have put it in the sewer incinerator." she said.
"But now it's too far in mutation for that option, there's only one option left. This place needs to be blown shy high." Annette said.
"How do we do that?" Claire asked
"By taking the last g-virus vial. It's in the room where you found the antiviral. I would have shown you how do it manually and have that be destroyed as well but for this lab, only my husband had the code to do that." Annette said.
"How do we get the vial?" Leon asks.
"Sherry, your pendent?" Annette asks.
"I'm sorry mom but I lost it." Sherry said looking down. "Damn it!" Annette said.
"Here." Claire said holding up the pendent. "I found it after Irons took you away." she explains to them.
"Good that pendent can unlock the machine. I had mine, an anniversary gift from when William remembered it, but as I was chasing him down I lost it in the sewers. I don't know what happened to William's key." Annette said.
"Once the vial is taken, the self-destruct sequence will activate. William had that arranged should someone try to steal his work from the machine. And believe me, all the protocol just to help him in his research was a pain." Annette said.
"What about you?" Claire asks.
"I'll die here with William and the lab." Annette said.
"Mommy-" Sherry tries to speak, but Annette shakes her head.
"Sherry, I already told you. The damage I sustained this time is too great. I'll only slow you all down if I tried, but my body is approaching its limit." Annette said.
"There's an underground train that can take you out of the city, it's below us so here." Annette gives Claire and Leon two dark purple chips. "These will get you to the lower levels and activate the train. The main shaft is the way." she said.
"There from my wrist band and William's, once I found it." she finishes.
"Ok, I'll get the vial. Claire, you take Sherry and get the train ready." Leon said inserting the chip on his wristband. "Ok." Claire said putting on her own. 'I'll get the g-virus, once Leon's guard is down.' Claire has a plan.
"That woman on the cable car. I don't know what she told you but whatever it was is a lie. She's here to get the g-virus and give it to people that will make a weapon out of it." Annette said talking about Ada.
"She had a badge, she's from the FBI-" Leon tries to say but Annette interrupts him.
"That is a bold faced lie. I've seen her before, she's a mercenary. The only thing she cares about is money." Annette said.
"Ugh!" said Leon as he paces the room, seems like he didn't want to believe her.
"Leon right? Please if it looks like the g-virus will be made into a weapon, destroy it. The world will be better off without it." Annette pleads with him.
"..I can promise you that." Leon said.
"Thank you. Now get going, the sooner this place goes the better. The recovering time for the g is too great. It will go after Sherry again once it realizes that something happened to the embryo." Annette said.
They go over to the the door when Sherry turns to Annette, "I love you mommy." she said.
"I love you too Sherry. Your father did too, in his own way. One day you will understand. Good-bye." Annette said.
They leave the room and head to the main shaft. "What about Ada?" Claire asks. "Let me take care of her." Leon said.
"I'll meet up with you two as soon as possible. Claire?" Leon holds out his hand.
Claire gives him the pendent, "You better get on the train Leon." Claire said.
"Stay safe Leon." Sherry said.
The girls open the elevator, step inside and it goes down.
As they go down Sherry speaks, "I know Leon will make the train."
"Yes." Claire said.
As the doors open and they step out, they hear the computer voice saying the self-destruct sequence as activated. "Let's move!" Claire said. She find a knife, grabs it and they leave the monitor room. They head down a platform with stairs before entering a pump room but they were not alone. As they go down a lift, Claire takes notice of three plant zombies.
"Sherry, you run to the door. I'll cover you." Claire said readying her grenade launcher with flame rounds. As they get off Sherry runs as Claire follows, shooting at the ivies. Once they were past the door Claire grabs an herb, before going down the ladder to make sure it was safe and Sherry climbs down after her. They hit bottom, see no zombies before going over to the door. Claire tries it but it was locked.
"Wonderful! The place is getting ready to blow and we need- Sherry?! What are you doing?!" Claire shouts in surprise as Sherry climbed onto a vent.
"There's a hole over here. I can fit inside it and unlock the door." she said shimming along the vent. "Ok, be careful!" Claire said.
An ivy falls from above, "Great." Claire said firing at it. Another one falls no sooner then she finishes the other. Once they were gone she waits for Sherry to unlock the door. After a moment she does, "Good job! Let's go." Claire said going into the passage.
They reach the next door, where after passing through see that a fire has started and a zombie comes toward them covered in flames. Claire shoot it before they leave through the door behind it. They run along a walkway, "You all right Sherry?" Claire asks. "Don't worry! I can keep up." Sherry said.
They pass the door and see the train on a turntable. "Get onboard! I'll get this thing started!" Claire tells her, grabbing an herb. Sherry gets aboard and Claire heads in the control room, after grabbing a joint plug.
The automated voice calls out that the lab will detonate in ten minutes. 'Hurry your ass down here Leon!' Claire hopes he gets here. She puts the plug where its suppose to go and starts it up, when something comes on the screen.
"Claire?!" said a familiar voice. Leon's face comes on the screen. "Leon! Hurry up and get down here!" Claire is relieved to see him.
"I know! Listen get the train moving now!" Leon shouts.
"But your not-" Claire tries to protest.
"I'll find a way to get on! You two need-shus-leave! btuz-coming!" Leon tries to tell her something but it was breaking up.
"Leon! Leon!" Claire shouts but the connection cuts out.
"Damn it!" Claire said as she pulls the lever. Whatever Leon was trying to say must have important, enough that he said to move on.
Just before Claire leaves she sees a minigun, and grabs it. "You never know when stuff like this can come in handy." she said leaving the control room. As she steps back out on the turntable, it starts going down but then a screech is heard.
Claire then realizes what Leon was trying to tell her as the mutated Birkin lands on top of the train.
"Arrgh! We don't have time for this!" Claire shouts at it, using her new gun. It's eye balls were still visible in the center and Claire hits them angering the monster. She moved when it charged at her. She keeps distance, making to use the minigun on the eyes, when it got too close and knock the gun from her when it had about a hundred bullets left.
She gets away, takes a herb because it got her, and uses her submachine gun on it. It then climbs up the shaft and once it got to a good height before jumping off. It hits the train, making the platform and Claire jump due to the impact.
She changes guns and brings out her spark shot. Once the creature gets off the train, she shoots it unlike before it still moves with the charge until it goes off and Claire sees that the eyes are red. "Let's finish this!" she shouts.
It takes five more shots and dozens of bullets, but finally it explodes into a matted mess. 'Its still not dead.' Claire knows Annette spoke the truth about it needing a mass amount of fire to kill it. 'Hopefully it stays there until we leave.' Claire hopes as she grabs the minigun and climbs aboard the train.
"Claire are you all right?" Sherry asks when she sees her.
"Yeah let's hope that's the last we see of it." Claire said. They hear the train combine with it's partners.
"Ok, we're leaving." Claire said going over to the controls.
"What about Leon?" Sherry asks.
"He said he would find his way. Let's hope he does." Claire said turning on the train and it goes forward.
Once they got some distance, Claire goes over to Sherry. "Claire.. Can you stay?" Sherry asks.
Claire is puzzled by her question, "What do you mean?" she asks.
"I over heard you talking with Leon, before I knocked... Please Claire? Can you stay? Leon can help you with your problem." Sherry was pleading with her.
Claire is silent for a moment. "Sherry, I-" Claire starts to say, then the door opens.
Leon waits until he can no longer see the elevator, before going back to the testing lab. As he arrives at the bioreactor's room, hitting the console button to raise the bridge, he looks over to see the body of the monster. Once the bridge is formed he heads across and arrives back at the lab.
He inserts the pendent and the machine unlock, revealing the g-virus. He takes it and just as Annette said, the self-destruct activates. He grabs the pendent before leaving, and runs back to the pervious room, looks over the side of the railing. "Damn!" the creature had recovered and was gone. "I got to get to the girls but first, I have to talk to another one." Leon running back the main shaft and sees Ada getting the elevator ready.
"Hey, I was getting worried. When I heard that the self-destruct had been activated, I got here as fast as I could." Ada said going over to him.
Leon stays on the bridge, "..There is something I need to ask you." he said.
"Do you have g?" Ada asked coming over to him, she is ignoring what he said.
"Yes...but I talked to Annette." Leon tells her. "She told me your a mercenary, you came here only for the virus. There was never any investigation was there?" Leon asked.
Ada is silent for a moment as the place starts falling apart.
"Why didn't you and Claire leave?" Ada shouts, pointing her gun at him.
"I really wanted to trust you, but just like someone else, I knew you were hiding something." Leon answers, unafraid of her threat. He raises his own gun, "What kind of agent would take on a situation like this solo?" Leon said as he points his weapon at her.
They star at each other, "..I was hoping to avoid this." Ada said.
"Tell me the truth, I was a pawn right?" Leon questions her but it was more of a statement.
"I have a job to do!" she yells.
"You think I don't? Drop it." Leon said.
"Just give me the sample. I don't want to hurt you!" Ada said.
Hearing that, Leon lowered his gun. "You can't shoot me can you? I won't give you the sample." Leon said firmly.
A tense silence comes between them, part of the bridge collapses, Ada eyes soften somewhat and she lowers her gun.
Then a bullet hits her in the back shoulder, Leon looks over at the north bridge and sees Annette holding her gun. Annette must have seen Ada come this way and dragged her damaged body here to stop her.
Then the bridge Leon and Ada were standing on, collapses beneath them. Leon as able to stay on, Ada was not so lucky. "Ada!" Leon shouts, grabbing her by the left hand. While saving Ada, the g-virus sild out of his pocket and falls in the abyss.
Annette smiles as she sees that, "Good, it's gone." she tells herself. She gasps as spasms of pain rack her body, before finally dying.
Back to Leon and Ada, Leon tries to pull her up but the bridge just keep falling to pieces. "Let go Leon. Get back to Claire and Sherry." Ada said. "Not without you!" Leon said.
The bridge was just about ready to go and Ada was slipping from Leon's grip. Ada looks down at the darkness then back at Leon, "Take care of the girls." she said. She slips from Leon and falls into nothing.
Leon is devastated, he never wanted her to die, despite that fact that she used him.
'I will survive.' Leon thinks as he gets up and gets over to the elevator, before the bridge collapses completely.
He gets in and the elevator goes down. Once it got to the floor, the automated voice says ten minutes until it blows up.
As Leon exits he sees something on a screen, it was Claire. He gets over to another screen and tries to make contact.
"Claire?!" he calls hoping to get her attention. Claire looks at the screen, "Leon! Hurry up and get down here!" she said looking relived.
"I know! Listen get the train moving now!" he tells her.
"But your not-" Claire protests but he interrupts her.
"I'll find a way to get on! You two need to leave! It's coming!" Leon tries to warn her that the g monster was coming for them, but it breaks up at the last two sentences.
"Damn! The connections gone! Hopefully Claire did as I told her." Leon said.
He grabs first aid spray, before leaving the room. He heads down the steps into the pump room, he jumps down because the lift was not on the level. He dashes to the next room and goes down a ladder. As he goes for the door, an unwanted figure drops in front of him. It was the monster in black.
"Why the hell did you have to show up?!" Leon shouts at it. He goes to one corner, then when the monster comes his way, he goes the other way and goes out the door. He runs down the passage avoiding a zombie. Once he enters the duct exit, unfortunately a fire blocks his way out.
'There has to be-' Leon tries to think of a way to catch the train, when a huge hand grabs his head. The monster had him, he realizes. He tries to free himself but the creature was too strong. Then an explosion happens, the monster drops him and the catwalk that he's on drops unto a walkway.
He looks up at the creature, it is surrounded by explosions and disappears into the flames. "Good riddance." Leon said. He moves over to a door and discovers a lift in the next room.
"If I'm fast enough, I will catch the train." Leon said finding an herb, ammo and a joint plug. He gets over to the lift itself and puts in the plug. He activates it and it goes down.
Just as he did that, an explosion happens above. He looks around and sees the place crumbling at a rapid pace. Then after another explosion, the creature appears again but it had changed, it's right arm had mutated claws and fire.
"Shit!" Leon said before shrapnel nearly hits him, knocking him off balance.
The creature jumps to where he is, "Ok." Leon starts to say has he gets up. "You want a fight? You got it!" Leon shouts, holding his gun.
Leon sees its heart or what can pass for it and shoots it, dodging the monsters swipes. He keeps shooting at it, keeping distance when it jumps up and slams down to where he was. Thankfully he had dodged before impact but he stumbles due to the vibration. He quickly moved once the monster moved to him.
He uses his magnum, he damaged it good but then it charges at him. Leon moves out of the way, but not unscathed. "I got to be fast!" he said as he uses a spray.
Debris falls in the lift, limiting movement for the two combatants. Leon uses quite a bit of ammo on it and it was injured good but it wasn't enough. 'Where's a rocket launcher when you need one?!' remembering that Jim said was the only way to kill this kind of monster.
Then an explosion makes the lift tremble and something slides down a metal support beam. It lands on the lift, opening itself, revealing a rocket launcher.
Someone was in the shadows above, "We're even." she said before leaving them.
"How?!" Leon said in surprise. He grabs it and aims at the tyrant but it moved. Leon puts distance between them, and shoots again but it dodged it again.
"Will you stay still?!" Leon shouts.
Leon shoots one more time and this time it hit. When the smoke cleared, its upper half was gone. "Hope I never see you again!" Leon said as the lift hit bottom.
He gets off and sees an exit on his right, but a horde of zombies comes through. He aims the rocket launcher at them and fires. Once the smoke was gone, they were all gone and he leaves, after dropping the launcher.
As he enters the next room, he sees the train. He runs as fast he can, grabs the rail and hoists himself on the train. He breaths for a moment before taking off the wristband Ada gave him.
"Ada... was it you who gave me that launcher?" he wonders aloud as he looks at the band. It seem impossible for anyone to survive a fall like that, but after tonight.. It seems like the impossible is possible. "I can't believe I'm saying this but I'll miss her." Leon said before tossing the band.
He gets up and goes over to the doors. It opens and he sees Claire and Sherry, he realizes by Sherry's face, he walked in on something important.
"Leon! You made it!" Claire said happily.
"I told you I would find a way." he said.
"I'm glad you made it Leon." Sherry said with a smile.
Then something rocks the train, they all stumble. "W-what was that?!" Sherry asked alarmed.
"I don't know, but stay here. Me and Leon will check it out." Claire said. 'Please don't let be what I think it is.' Claire prays it was not the g monster.
She and Leon enter the baggage car but don't see anything. "I know its not the monster in black. I killed it with a rocket launcher." Leon said.
"..I hate to say it, but it must be the g monster again. I took care of it as the train was getting ready, but it must have recovered." Claire said.
They open the fright doors and walk towards the end, when as they reach the door, the door is torn off by the g monster. They get distance, "I don't see any eyes!" Claire readying her handgun.
"Then we'll wait for an opportunity." Leon said preparing his handgun. They were determined to protect Sherry from the monster that was once her father.
They hit the creatures head and it's eyes that appear on it's sides. Then once they damaged it enough, a huge eye appears. "That's it! Give it everything we have!" Leon shouts.
They unload all their bullets, grenades and knifes... but it wasn't enough. Before they knew it, they were at the front of the fright and just as they finished off their last bullets, the creature swings its tenacle. It knocks them off their feet, and damages the train. They hear a voice, "Claire! Leon!"
It was Sherry, she had disobeyed them by coming to the baggage car. "Sherry get back!" Claire shouts as the train rocks.
"We need to lose that car!" Sherry shouts. She grabs a tool, takes off the covering off the linkage. She puts the tool on the lever where they separate but it was heavy. "Come on! Come on!" Sherry said putting her whole body into it.
As Sherry was working the link, Leon and Claire garb a piece of pointed metal. They shove it into the eye, and it screeches in pain. "Take that!" Claire shouts. "Die in flame!" Leon shouts.
Sherry finally got the lever down and the cars separate, "Come back!" she calls to them. Leon and Claire jump back on the baggage car.
They watch as the piece of metal fell out of its eye, squirting puss, and the car it's on falls into flame. The flames consume the creature, at such high temperatures, there was no way for it to survive.
They watch it as they move farther away from it and the horrors of Raccoon City.
Unknown location September 30th 7:00 am
When they stop, they find a highway and see a truck coming. "Out of sight, until it's safe." Leon tells them. The girls hide as Leon make the hitch hiking sign. The truck goes by with the trucker making a not so nice sign.
"Wasn't he friendly?" Leon said sarcastically as the girls come out.
"Better him than zombies." Claire said looking down the road.
"If I remember right there's suppose to be a motel somewhere down this road. Brace yourselves." Claire said, letting them know they have to walk.
Sherry gets in between Claire and Leon, holding hands they make their way down the road.
"What happened to Ada?" Claire asks.
"Annette was right. She wasn't what she told us, but I think she's still around." Leon said.
"The virus?" she asks.
"It was destroyed." he said.
'Damn! There's now only one way to get the virus.' Claire keeps her thoughts to herself.
They hear a truck behind them and Leon makes the sign again. This time the driver stops, "Whoa! You guys smell bad! I'll let you ride in my tailgate, don't want the inside to smell like sewage." the driver said.
"That's fine. We just want to get to the motel down the road." Claire said. All three climb in the back.
"I'm surprised the military let's you drive on this road." Claire said through the back window.
"Oh you mean the lockdown on Raccoon City? This road has been forgotten by many drivers and this road doesn't connect with the city itself." the driver said.
After twenty minutes they arrive at a motel. "You sure this is where you want to be?" the driver asks.
"Yes thank you for the lift." Leon said. The driver leaves.
They go to the front desk, "Excuse me, we would like a room." Claire said the clerk.
"I don't know.. You stink to high haven." he said.
"Will this do?" Claire said showing him her wallet with twenties in it.
"Welcome to our motel. You can stay in this room." he said giving them a key.
They go to their room, they thought about showering but, "None of us have a change of clothes." Claire said unhappily, the other two nod also not happy.
"Oh! Before I forget. Here Sherry." Claire said giving Sherry her wristband back.
"I believe this is yours." Leon said giving Sherry back her pendent.
Sherry looks at the two objects in her hands, "The wristband was given to me by mom and the pendent was from my dad on my birthday. It was the only time they both remembered it simultaneously." Sherry said.
"Now these are the only things I have left of them." Sherry said, tears falling down her face. Claire hugs Sherry, Leon embraces them both, and Sherry cries.
"W-hic We weren't even a-hic a real f-hic family. They a-hic always chose work over me, b-hic but I s-hic still l-hic loved them." Sherry said hiccupping.
Once they get Sherry to come down, they all take turns washing their hands and faces.
When they were all back in the same room, Leon spoke, "Why don't we lay down for a nap? We're all running on fumes by this point."
The girls agreed, with a bit of a fight with Leon, they all lay on the queen sized bed and Sherry in the middle.
Once both Leon and Sherry were asleep, Claire gets up and pulls out a long range commutations device. "Hey Stuart, its Claire. Listen..." she tells him all that's happened.
Motel September 30th 10:30am
Leon starts waking up, he hears someone talking, "Yeah I know... Why can't we just bring her to the island?" it was a girls voice. He sits up and looks over to where Claire is sitting.
"Your her godfather!" Claire yells into something but he can't hear what the other person is saying, her yelling woke up Sherry.
"Ok.. ok." Claire said calming down.
"Stuart is here. Yeah I'll you soon." Claire said disconnecting the device.
She looks over, sees Leon and Sherry awake. "Hey.. Listen, I need to go. Look after Sherry for me." Claire said standing up and going over to the door. Leon gets up and beats her to the door.
"Leon, I just got done with my boss, government agents are on their way here, due to the situation in Raccoon City there are quite a few nearby. I have to leave before they arrive." Claire trying to go around him but he grabs her.
"So you are in an organization, the underground kind, but your not a mercenary like Ada... Do they have your brother? Is that you didn't me he was a cop? And that you knew Raccoon City's finest?" Leon asks her.
Claire struggles in his arms, "Leon please, let me go! There's much you don't understand-" Claire doesn't want to talk about it, but Leon interrupts her.
"Raccoon City is done! We both saw enough damage and nightmares to know and understand that! Please Claire tell me the truth. I swear I will help you." Leon was determined to get answers from her this time.
Claire is silent.
"Claire... We've only know each other since last night, but after being by your side, I know your a good person. Whatever your boss in threating you with or if your brother is the one in trouble. I will help you... I care for you." Leon said at the end and grabs her hand.
Claire gives him a soft smile before raising her hand, "Leon thank you.." Leon smiles thinking he had gotten through to her, "And I'm sorry."
"Wha-?" Leon started to say, confused, when something hits a spot on his neck and everything went black.
Claire drags Leon's body to the bed, "Leon... If only we had a met sooner." Claire said putting him on the bed. She touches his face, "...I would have loved the chance of becoming your girl, but I already have been promised. Next time, if we see each other again, we will be on opposite sides." Claire said sadly.
She puts her lips to his, her farewell.
She gets up and looks to Sherry, who was no longer on the bed, who had been silent this entire time.
"Sherry.. I'm sorry, I can't be there for you. I have other obligations. Believe me if I could take you and Leon with me, I would." Claire said sadly. Albert told her it was out of the question at least for Sherry. She never told him about Leon.
"I-I hope one day Sherry, you can forgive me." Claire said looking away from her. Sherry becomes confused, 'Maybe Claire thinks I won't forgive her, for leaving.'
"Claire I for-" Sherry didn't finish her sentence, Claire comes over to her and bends down to her level.
"Its not just about me leaving. There's more going on then you or Leon know about." Claire says serious.
"I can't tell you or him any of that. You'll be in too deep, if I do." Claire said.
"One day, when your older, when you understand more of the world, and you know the situation. If we meet again after all that, tell me then if you forgive me." Claire said sadly, giving Sherry a hug. Sherry hugs her back.
Honk!
Stuart was telling her it was time to go.
"Goodbye Sherry, Leon." Claire said letting go of Sherry and leaves the room.
As she walks over to Stuart and he says, "Don't worry about the front desk, I paid him for his troubles. Let me get you to a place where you can freshen up, before we get back to the island." Stuart said opening the car door.
"Yeah a shower and a change of clothes sound good." Claire said getting in.
As they drive away Claire thinks about what she did. 'Sherry will be taken by the goverment, which is in fact under the control of a powerful family, not the president. But that family is an ally, a member of the organization. With that, the g-virus is in our hands as well as the antiviral but in return, Sherry will never have a normal childhood again. Leon... I hope we never meet again.'
As Claire finishes her thoughts, she buries her face in her hands and cries over what she's done.
Motel September 30th 1:00 pm
Leon slowly comes awake, trying to figures out why he was sleeping, when he remembers what happened.
"Claire!" he shouts sitting up and looks around, but only finds Sherry sitting next to him.
"She's gone... She got into a limo and went somewhere." Sherry tells him sadly.
"Damn it Claire! Why?!" Leon raises his voice, upset that Claire did that. Sherry shies away from him and he calms down.
"I'm sorry Sherry. I didn't mean to scare you. I just feel fursated that Claire didn't trust me enough to tell me the truth." Leon tells her getting off the bed.
"..You won't leave me will you?" she asks him.
"No, I won't leave you Sherry. I know Claire cares about you, but something is holding her back. I think her brother is involed in it as well, but I don't know the details." he said.
"I care about her Sherry." Leon said
"She cares about you too. She may have knocked you out, but she was sad that she did. She gave you a kiss before she left." Sherry tells him.
"Really?" Leon asked, reaching up to touch his lips and smiles.
A knock is heard, "Goverment agents!"
"Better let them in." Leon said with a frown, going over to the door. Once it was opened, men in suits came in, "You two are from Raccoon City? Your coming with us." one of them said.
"As long as I'm riding with Sherry." Leon tells them.
"Fine, let's go." one said.
Leon and Sherry get in a car and they drive away form the motel. Leon takes out the photo he had since he found it in the S.T.A.R.S office, it was a picture of Claire and her brother.
'I will find you.' Leon vows to find the Redfield siblings.
Bittersweet ending.
