Chapter 3: Mountainous Assault
Sonic goes to his best friend's lab in the Mystic Ruins area. He carefully opens the door for him as Sonic can see he has improved on the place. "Man, this place got bigger since the last time I visited here before, you sure were busy buddy," he said impressed by this.
"Yeah, I've been modifying the place lately," Tails takes him into the medical bay for a screen to come online and the duo hears a low yawn.
"Good Evening Miles," a female came over the screen for a cute brown Lynx appearing on the screen.
"Hello Nicole, this is Sonic. I told you all about him," Tails brings the blue hog to a table for the Lynx to notice him.
"Who is that anyway?" Sonic asked.
"Well, this is Nicole. She's an A.I. I made to help me maintain the lab's electronics and prevent people like Eggman from hacking inside the mainframe," Tails said as the Lynx gave Sonic a friendly smile.
"Good to meet you, Miles tells me such great things about you." Nicole starts up the medical bay's equipment checking Sonic's status. "Don't worry, we cyber geeks will keep you nice and safe," Nicole said.
"More like a cyber angel to me," Sonic teased as the AI girl blushed at his comment.
"Such a flirt, I can see why Mina likes you so much," Nicole said as Miles grabbed a needle filled with some type of gel.
"Okay bud, open wide," Tales sticks the needle into his skin injecting the gel inside. "There, Nicole how are his life signs?" he asked.
Nicole can see Sonic's body is starting to heal at a rapid rate. "Perfect, the medical gel was a success," Nicole looks at the monitors for Sonic's insides are patching up just fine.
"Wow, that feels great. What is this medical gel?" Sonic asked for Tails to wipe the needle clean as she put it away.
"It's a new invention I made, it's a type of gel that helps boost your healing factor but after you heal, you'll feel some soreness for a while," Sonic tries to get up but Tails makes him lay back down. "I think you need to lie down for a while, Nicole will keep you company while I fetch him something to eat," Tails said.
"Good, we can get to know one another better," Nicole disappears off the screen leaving Sonic confused.
"Wait, where did you go?" Sonic looks around as he feels a finger tap his shoulder for him to quickly turn his head seeing the petite Lynx. "How did you do that?" he asked in deep confusion.
"If I were to explain, you would get bored. The short version is that this is a very advanced hologram that allows me to interact with my environment," Nicole said as Sonic took a good look at her.
Nicole is standing 3'0 tall making her shorter than the rest of his female friends. She's wearing a purple dress that fits her slender figure.

"Thanks, Tails, I'm going to speed back to Mina's condominium," Sonic rushes out of there with Tails fixing up a gadget.

"You have a cute AI assistant, I think you would live without a big apartment," Nicole said playfully.
"I need to call GUN and get in touch with the others," Tails said as he pulled out his cell phone to call the GUN local offices.
At the research lab, Rouge hears the phone ringing as she picks it up, "Hey Tails, the guys up top got your call and they directed it here. What do you need?" she asked.
"We manage to find the exhaust trail made from Metal that will lead us to his base of operations." Rouge is happy about this.
"Great, we can finally get to the bottom of this, send us the trail and we'll get there," Rouge said as Tails cut off the line.
"I hope we can resolve this mystery with Metal," Tails keeps up with his work as Nicole helps him out.
Several hours have passed with Sonic chilling on the couch in the living room as Mina comes back into the room wearing a different set of clothes for her to bring her boyfriend a fresh chill dog for him.
"Did Tails check up on you?" Mina asked Sonic to take his food and bite into it.
"Yep, I am good to go," Sonic said.

Meanwhile, the Chaotix are chilling out in their HQ building for Vector, Espio, and Charmy to be in the main room. "Gee, an assault on the mountain base. This is getting pretty heavy," Vector said as Espio cleaned up a kunai with a rag.
"Vector, we have to be ready for anything. We have no clue what this guy is," Espio said.
"Yeah, where are Knuckles and Shade?" Charmy asked not seeing them around.
"After what happened at the bank, they are heading back for the Master Emerald. We and Mighty can handle this," Vector said.
Down on the ground floor, Knuckles and Shade got off the elevator, "Knux, you sure you don't want to help your friends? They might need you for this," Shade said holding to his arm as Knuckles was confident in his friends.
"They can handle themselves; we need to protect the Master Emerald. This guy might try and take it," Knuckles got to the front door and opened it for Shade.
"Yeah, they can, and also I feel very grateful for you guys taking me in a couple of months ago from the whole Nocturnus incident," Shade rests her head on her boyfriend's shoulder as Knuckles wraps his arm around her shapely right hip.
"No biggie, you are a great help and still am. Being on the island with you makes the nights less alone," Knuckles slips his hand on her round butt and pinches it as Shade's back stiffens with her blushing red.

Meanwhile, the morning came as the sun was high in the sky. Sonic and Mina had woken up from their sleep. They were ready for the big attack. "Alright, ready babe," Sonic asked with him at the front door.
Mina is dressed in a blue top and white knee-length cotton skirt with blue bike shorts underneath along with blue boots and black fingerless gloves consisting of her adventurer's gear. She carries a bag on her back for her to close the door.
"Of course, let's do it," Mina said feeling pumped for this. The duo speeds off toward their location to see Mount Lupe in the distance.
"There it is, everything is going to be clear after this," Sonic said as the duo could see their friends down on the ground near the base of the mountain. They move towards the area for Mina with the Chaotix members and Team Dark waiting for them. "Glad you made it guys," Sonic said.
"Won't miss it for the world," Rouge said as they could see the entrance for it has large thick steel doors.
"Okay, time to storm the castle," Sonic tapped his foot in eagerness as Omega, Vector, and Mighty together knocked on the door with full force for the door to fly into the tunnel.
"Where's Shade and Knuckles at?" Mina asked.
"They went back to guard the emerald," Vector said
"We are in, let's go," Shadow said as they rushed through the empty tunnels." Rouge be careful okay." Rouge notices the dark hog has a look of concern on his face as she smiles in return.
"Such a gentleman Shadow, don't worry I'm a big girl now. I can take care of myself," Rouge said as she secretly liked him being protective of her.
The group passes through the tunnel with no problems as several Egg Pawns appear in the main area. "Looks like the welcoming committee showed up for us," Sonic spin dashes into one of the robots leaving a dent in its armor plating as it fires back with its arm cannon.
"Interesting, their armor has improved," Espio tosses several explosive ninja stars at an Egg Pawn blowing it to scrap.
Mina dashes front as she hits her booted foot against a robot knocking it into the air. Sonic spin dashes into it knocking the robot into a wall and destroying it on impact.
"Chaos Spear," Shadow tosses energy spears at an Egg Pawn for it to explode as one of the Egg Pawns aims towards Rouge while she's not looking. "Look out," Shadow leaps in and grabs her dodging a laser bolt from the Egg Pawn.
"Thanks," Rouge sees he's on top of her and she flushes from it. She gets help up as Vector slams his fists into the robot's face several times destroying its head.
Then the group can feel the ground shake as a couple of Egg Pawn Giants lumber toward them as they fire rockets at them. "Scatter," Espio shouted as they spread away from the explosions.
Omega arms his cannon and fires a powerful ball of energy blasting away at the robot's armor. The large robot bashes into the damaged Giant knocking it on its back. Rouge tosses several sticky bombs onto the bot's hull unleashing a terrible blast tearing through the robot leaving one left.
The Giant carries a large mallet as it swings at Mighty and Vector as they roll out of the way. Both of them use their strength to make the bot recoil backward for Sonic to spin dash into the robot knocking it back a few feet.
Sonic came back onto the ground as he had a major headache for Mina to check on him. "Man, the armor did get better. Someone must be upgrading these guys," Mina places her hand on his forehead rubbing it gently feeling glad he's alright.
Charmy charges at full speed knocking an Egg Pawn into the damaged giant and bringing it to its knees, Shadow finishes it off with a series of energy-fused punches putting it out of commission.
"Alright, it's cleared. Let's get moving," Mina said for them to see a lift in the corner. They get on it as they go upwards going deeper into the Doctor's base.
The elevator reaches the last floor it can go as the others go into the large room. "We should look for clues for what happened here," Shadow said as the groups split and looked around the area.
Espio and Mighty search through the place as they see a bunch of glass tubes that can fit Mobians inside. "What is Eggman doing with those tubes?" Mighty is confused by this as Espio takes a better look at one of the tubes.
"This looks like a stasis pod, he must keep people in this base," Espio said as he noticed a name on the bottom but couldn't figure it out.
Sonic and Mina go towards a monitor and see graphs and charts being displayed. "Mina, what does this mean? I can't wrap my head around this," Sonic asked as Mina browsed through the data for her mouth to open wide with awe.
"This is crazy, Robotnik wanted to find out about some space-time event that happened a few weeks ago around after he was defeated," Mina goes through the data looking through it as she pulls up a satellite picture of a ball of energy in the middle of the forest. "Wow, that's a focus point of warped space and time, this is crazy," Mina said.
"What does this have to do with anything now?" Sonic asked.
"Well, if my intuition is correct which seldom fails me; then who is in control of Metal had something to do with this event. Maybe I can get a better picture of it," Mina tries enhancing the image as she figures there is a silhouette of a person in the middle of the space-time distortion.
"Wow, there's someone inside that orb of energy," Sonic said.
"Yeah, I had a feeling the reason why we don't know who's behind this is that they came from another world," Mina said.
"You mean like the Twilight Cage we pulled Shade out several months back," Sonic remembers him and his group fighting the entrapped enemies within the Twilight Cage.
"Well kind of, there is a thing called the Multiverse where every possible outcome has a Reality or a Zone simply put. For instance, there could be Zones where I'm born a Male instead of a Female," Mina can see the look on her boyfriend's face as he has utter disgust at the mere thought of it.
"Yeah, please don't give me nightmares about me giving your male self a blow job," Sonic was feeling grossed out by the thought.
"Who knows, we in another zone could be gay lovers. You know male-on-male action," she teased as Sonic playfully punched her shoulder for the mongoose to giggle.
"Yeah, your Male self could be screwing with some weird alien that might look like a plant," Sonic teased back as they share a laugh.
"Always, we need to get moving and figure out what the hell is going on here," Mina turns off the computer as everyone regroups for them to hear something big coming their way.
"Here it comes," Espio said as everyone was ready as a massive robotic spider appeared before them. This eight-legged robot stares at the heroes as they hear a speaker come online.
"Flesh bags, you finally show up," Metal's voice appears through the head of the robotic spider.
"Metal, how about you come out and show your face," Sonic taunted.
"Yeah, I'll pass on that. I'm safe in sound far away while I remote-control this metal beastie to take you out. Now Egg Arachnid, wipe out these wastes of space," Metal commanded as the large spider uttered a big roar.
The robot spider attacks by swinging its metal legs as Mighty and Vector dodge under the attack. Both strongmen launch twin punches as their double blow knocks the incoming leg backward making the robot flinch.
Espio and Rouge toss explosives as the bot quickly recovers and dodges the bombs. It counters by firing a focused beam of energy at the group as the laser slices through tubes and metal containers.
Sonic rolls out of the laser's path as he spins dashes at the Egg Arachnid. The spider whacks the hedgehog away with a swing of its leg. Mina catches him in mid-air and she sends him flying back with a swift hit from her kick for Sonic to slam into the back of the metal monster.
The attack stunned the robot as Shadow and Omega went in for the kill. Shadows charge up for a Chaos Spear with Omega priming his weapon systems. The robot spider sees it coming as it leaps away from the two attackers and it fires blobs of goo at Omega. He gets hit and launches onto a wall on the other side sticking to the metal.
"Omega," Shadow looks on as the goo sticking Omega to a wall is turning rubber holding him in place despite his best efforts. Charmy goes in and uses his stinger to slice the rubber goo off of Omega.
"Thank you, Charmy," Omega thanks the small bee as he unleashes a barrage of missiles and energy blasts. The projectiles strike the Egg Arachnid leaving it damaged but still able to fight. The robot counters by swinging its leg at both Charmy and Omega sending them flying across the room.
Mina brings out her arm cannon module and blasts the Egg Arachnid in the face several times chipping away the metal plating for Sonic to spin dash into the damaged head busting open the AI brain that controls the mech.
"Chaos Spear," Shadow launches an energy spear right into the AI core as the metal spider collapses onto the floor lying there dead.
"Great show, you guys performed. I have to be on my way," Metal shuts off the speakers for the group to move forward.
"Everyone good," Shadow asked as everyone nodded. "I wonder what else Metal got for us," they manage to find another lift and head further upward into the mountain base.
Meanwhile in the control room, Naugus and Metal are looking over their plans. "It's about time, we show Station Square who they are dealing with; how about those reinforcements to boost our ranks?" Naugus asked.
"Master, I have a group of mercenaries that will be of great service," Metal introduced three figures that walk into the room. "I'll introduce Nack the Weasel or Fang the Sniper as his trade name," Metal said.
"Marksmen and assassins at your service as long as I get paid handsomely of course," the Purple weasel said.
"Of course," Naugus said as he looked at the other two, one being a large yellow polar bear and the other being a green duck with an eyepiece on his left eye.
"These two are Bark the Polar Bear and Bean the Duck," Metal said.
"Pleasure being here sir and don't bother trying to talk with Bark. He's a mute," Bean said as Naugus was curious about something.
"What's with the eye patch?" Naugus asked as Bean's gloves generated a bomb into his palms.
"Taken out my eye in an improper discharge and I suggest you call me by my trade name Demo Duck," Bean said as he noticed one of Naugus's henchmen, a beautiful curvy cyborg rabbit with long blond hair and shiny green eyes. "Hello, hello my sexy darling; what such a fine face like you doing in a place like this?" Bean flirted with her.
Bunnie blushes at the handsome battle-worn duck. "You quite cute yourself patchy," Scarlett flirts back as Nack pulls on Bean's tail feather.
"Keep it in your feathers Bean," Nack feels annoyed by this as Demo gives the southern gal a wink for Bunnie to smile back.
"Anyway, Boss Lady should be coming any minute now," Bean said as an attractive female Mobian appeared within the main chamber with her long red hair, brown fur, her feminine figure clad in a blue top, black shorts, and blue boots along with stunning blue eyes.
Bunnie's face has a wide smile with Naugus looking on with utter surprise once again as they are both happy to see this 21-year-old young woman who is the leader of the Mercs. "Oh, I'll be damn. I can't believe this," Naugus said looking quite shocked by her appearance.
"Wow, I haven't seen you in a while. I'm glad you're on board with this," Bunnie heads over and gives the leader a big hug for the red-haired leader to return it.
"Glad to be here, Bunnie," she said as she quickly headed over to Naugus. "After you killed Robotnik and heard what you are doing with your world's Eggman. I and the others will gladly help with your fight,"
"Excellent miss," Naugus sees Metal reacting to something. "What is it?" he asked.
"Sonic and his friends are almost at the top floor," Metal said as Naugus had a large grin on his face.
"Let them in, I have a surprise for these fools," Naugus said.
Sonic and their friends reach their location. Sonic gets into a room seeing patches of dried blood and pillars made of crystal tear through the floor. "Holy shit, what happened here?" Sonic questions this as the others move in and are puzzled by this as well.
"How is this even possible?" Mighty said as Mina had a look of complete horror on her face, "Yo Mina, what's wrong?" Mighty asked.
"Oh shit," these are the only words that came out of her lips as everyone is seeing something that will never leave their minds.
The group sees the scattered disfigured body of Eggman displayed on the wall like a trophy. "Oh shit. I don't believe this," Sonic kneels before the corpse as his body is in utter shock at this. "I took it upon myself to put an end to your crazy schemes and now I can't get the final straw," Sonic looked on in horror at this gruesome scene.
Sonic is in shell shock as a small hand is gripping his shoulder. Mina crouches beside him and gives him a comforting hug. "I know you wanted to beat him once and for all but he's gone now. That's all that matters right?" she asked in a comforting voice.
Mina snaps Sonic out of his shock as he tries to remain focused. "Yeah, but we got bigger moles to stomp on now," Sonic regaining his cool.
"Gee, this is pretty brutal," Espio looks over the corpse touching the severed head. He touches the eyeball and the head jerks a bit as everyone gets spooked by it. "Guys relax, and it's just a reflex," Espio calms their nerves.
"Oh man, I thought that head came alive for a second," Charmy calmed himself down.
"You thought wrong fools," a voice said out of the blue as no one could pinpoint from it came from.
"Hey asshole, show your face," Vector said.
"Turn around fools," the voice commanded as the gang turned back and saw Eggman's severed head staring back at them giving the group a big shock. "We meet at last Quickster or this version of you," the head moves its mouth like a puppet.
"What the hell, who are you?" Sonic asked as the head laughed at him.
"I'm Ixis Naugus, one of the greatest wizards in my zone. I'm talking through this corpse by a spell," Naugus said as Mina knew it.
"So you are from another reality, from another Mobius," Mina said.
"Correct, I find this very interesting. Songoose with the hero in this world. Very curious. Quickster, I can't help but hear you plead to fight Robotnik one last time. I'm happy to oblige to that request," Naugus focuses his magical energy on his staff as the whole corpse suddenly starts floating in front of the group converting into an energy ball.
"With his essence, I'll form a monster for you to play with," Naugus swings his staff front as the gem glows brightly. The crystal pillars around the room start falling apart and start merging with Eggman's soul. Its form is made of crystal standing 18 feet tall and has a round bulky body with stocky arms and legs. The front part of the monster has an imprint of round eyes, an imposing mustache, and a large grin. "Now's your chance Quickster but a word to the wise, he's not happy to see you," Naugus said with a devilish grin.
The Eggman Giant roars in anger as he shoves its arm into the ground summoning a wave of crystal heading for the group. They try and scatter but the crystals explode like bombs spreading shrapnel.
"Damn, this wizard turned Eggman into a monster. This is fantastic," Shadow said sarcastically for him to teleport out of the exploding crystal for him to try and score a hit. The Eggman Giant defends himself by extending crystals into his arms and blocking the dark hog's blows.
The monster unleashes a massive amount of energy in the form of an explosion blowing away Shadow and the others into walls. The blast severely damages the floor as the whole space collapses making the heroes and the Eggman Giant fall through.
"Sonic," Mina goes in and grabs his hands with her pulling him up onto an exposed metal beam. "You okay?" she asked with concern.
"Yeah but this is a new level of craziness even for us," Sonic said as the giant summons a pillar of crystal beneath him as went upward trying to impale the duo.
Mina launches Sonic with her arm cannon as the blue blur bounces off the wall and strikes down onto the Giant's body. The monster slams his arm into Sonic knocking him through a wall. "I hate that hedgehog!" the Eggman Giant roared.
"We got to crack open that crystal armor if we got any chance," Espio shouted as he clung to a wall and tossed several explosive-tipped kunais at the pillar the giant was standing on. Omega hovers safely as he unloads a barrage of missiles and laser fire for both of them to chip away at the pillar.
Rouge is falling unable to fly due to a crystal shard cut into her right wing her best friend Shadow comes to rescue her and teleport her to a safe place. "Thanks, Shadow. We should stop meeting like this," Rouge kisses him on the cheek as the dark hog's face warms up a bit.
"No prob but what about your wing?" Shadow has a look of concern as he strokes her black wing seeing blood leaking down it.
"I'll be fine just kick that bastard's ass for me," Rouge said as Shadow places her with Omega for him to head off. "My black knight as always," she said.
The pillar falls apart as the Eggman Giant morphs into a ball of crystal and slams into the floor below causing untold destruction and wreaking everything in his path. He turns back as he creates a hammer out of his hands and swings at Vector and Mighty.
Both of the strongmen stop the blow but the giant counters by launching an overhead strike for the duo to avoid. The blow creates spikes of crystal shooting out of the floor heading for the two. "You got to be kidding me,"
Mighty rolls up into a ball as Vector grabs him as they rush away from the spikes following them from behind, "Suck on this Egghead." Vector tosses Mighty as hard as he can for Mighty to plow through groups of spikes and bash into the head of the Eggman Giant making the monster flinch backward into a wall.
Mighty goes in to aim his fist into its gut but the giant's grin spreads wide and shows its large maws for energy to build up inside its mouth. "Oh, crap," Mighty curls up and gets hit with a powerful energy blast sending him flying through several crystal pillars.
Vector sees the lumbering monster heading for him as its center is faintly glowing red for some reason for the Giant is preparing for another attack. Vector grabs some debris to use as a shield for the Eggman Giant to fire another energy blast. The energy attack destroys the makeshift shield sending Vector across the ruined room.
Sonic tries recovering from a big headache for Mina to be right beside him, "Baby, are you okay?"
"Oh man, like I got hit by a freight train. I never thought my final battle with Eggman be like this," Sonic said as the duo got down to the bottom where the others were fighting the giant.
Mina dodges falling debris for the base is starting to fall apart from all the fighting. "Oh man, this place is falling apart. This guy is crazy enough to take himself out along with the base," Sonic said
Shadow is now engaged with the Giant as he throws multiple Chaos Spears at the monster. The Eggman Giant creates pillars of crystal blocking Shadow's attacks for it to make its left arm into a blade swinging it at Shadow.
"Chaos Control," Shadow slows time around him as he launches a powerful spin dash at the monster pushing it back several yards away. "Chaos Blast," Shadow unleashes a powerful explosion from his body weakening the entire room for it to collapse.
The Giant latches itself onto the wall for it to raise its arm and spray a shower of needles at Shadow. Before he can teleport, he gets stabbed several times for him to crash into a broken section of the floor.
Sonic and Mina arrive at the scene seeing their friends are badly hurt for Espio and Charmy along with Omega and Rouge appear too. "Dude, this is crazy. We are getting our asses kicked here; Eggman must have a weakness of some kind," Sonic thought as Mina raises her arm cannon module and points it at the giant.
"Naugus, why are you destroying your base when you're still inside?" Mina asked.
"My dear, you think I will still be there when that is going on? I've been gone for a while now," Naugus said as Mina's throat got lumpy.
"You mean, this is a trap, the trail Metal made was to lure us here," Mina said as Naugus laughed at their awestruck faces.
"Guess you are quite sharp for your age but now I must be off. Eggman Giant crushes these fools and you'll have your revenge against the Quickster," Ixis Naugus talks with the monster through his staff. The monster roars for the whole base is falling apart around them.
Mina notices a faint glow behind the crystal skin. "Sonic, remember what Naugus about the giant is made through Eggman's essence," she said.
"I get it; we got to knock Robotnik's soul right out of that thing," Sonic said as the Eggman Giant leaped onto the ground facing Sonic and roaring at the hedgehog. "Gee, someone needs a breath mint," Sonic dodges a barrage of needles as Mina shoots broken pillars making them fall onto the monster.
The Eggman Giant is distracted as Sonic uses a Light Speed Attack and charges right into the chest of the beast with enough force to send it flying into the crystal pillar. "Damn it, I need more thrust so I can cut into the chest. Omega," Sonic rushes over to the large robot. "Omega, I need you to shoot me with your cannon at the monster," he requested.
"Crude but effective," Omega shoves the blue hog into his right arm cannon for Rouge and Mina to target more pillars with sticky bombs and electric blasts making the giant distracted again.
"Now Omega," Sonic charged up again as Omega fired Sonic out of his cannon. He unleashes Light Speed Attack cutting through the air for the Eggman Giant to release a very powerful energy sphere at Sonic. He collides with the energy ball trying to overpower it but soon slices through it and punches through the Eggman Giant destroying its power supply. "Your done Egghead," Sonic sends him the last insult he will ever give him.
The monster leaks large amounts of energy as it breaks apart into a large pile of rubble. "Finally, we did it Sonic," Mina gives her hero a big kiss as everything around them is falling to pieces.
"Guys," Shadow stands before them with the others in hand. "Let's get out of here," the others grab him as they teleport away for the whole mountain to collapse on itself from massive explosions taking place.
Sonic is relieved they got out of there alive to be within Tails' workstation in Mystic Ruins. "That was crazy huh?" Sonic asked as Tails and the others were listening to Nicole.
"Guys, Eggman's ships are over Station Square," Nicole said.
"Man, we can't cut any slack around here," Sonic said as everyone began to prepare as fast as possible for another big attack.
Meanwhile, Naugus and his crew are in the Egg Carrier Mark 2 along with several other ships that look like fish and manta rays stationed on the outskirts of the city. "Master, something really interesting happened. Our sensors detect a Chao Emerald within the G.U.N HQ building," Metal said.
"Excellent, who will volunteer to snatch this gem," Naugus looks around and sees Bean, Bark, Nack and their leader will take this task.
"We'll gladly assist you," the leader said.
"We'll have an interesting partnership, Sally Acorn," Naugus said as he laughed at the pure cosmic irony of this.
A/N: Bean is this story; his character is not based on his Mobius Prime version but his Dark Mobius version which appeared in the Sonic Universe issues 25-28.
Also from the same Reality, it's hinted that Demo Duck and Bunnie Rabbit are a couple in that zone. Don't think this is so out of place or a crack pairing because it's based on something that existed in canon with Dark Mobius Saga.
