Chapter 30: Robotnik's Legacy Pt 2
Naugus is noticing reports of machine hybrids attacking a Mobian city. "How interesting, I am detecting a Chaos Emerald at a strange location. I need some help to claim it. Infinite and Metal come here now," he ordered as two men approached their master.
"Why did you call us Master," Infinite said.
"I have detected another Chaos Emerald and it's in a weird location. It is within the landmass of Efrika, which the humans called Africa long ago. Knowing about weird machines, it's all connected. You two need to track down the source of these machines. Knowing about this new enemy will yield good results," Naugus said.
"As you wish sir, don't get in my way Metal," Infinite said as Metal gave him a death stare.
"The feeling is mutual Jackal," Metal said as the two go out of the base to take the Egg Carrier to head for the landmass of Efrika to gather the fourth Chaos Emerald.
Sonic is within Tails' medical bay for Mina is asleep within the Stasis pod holding back the Metal Virus from taking over her body. "Mina, babe. Keep fighting and I will get you back to health," Sonic said gently stroking the pod's glass. He sees saffron looming over Charmy's pod.
"Please Charmy, hold strong and we will help you get better," Saffron said as Sonic sat on a chair.
"Sonic, we need to capture EVE and scan her systems. She is in control of this Metal Virus. If I can copy her systems, I can adapt them for myself and purge them from Mina and Charmy," Nicole said as Sonic reached out to him and hugged her.
"Gee Nicole, you are the best," Sonic said getting more hope to save Mina and Charmy.
"Of course, but we need to find her," Nicole said.
"GUN has managed to trace her energy signal. She is within Efrika heading for the human city of Mazuri. I bet she will mount another assault soon," Shadow said.
"I am going with you. We need to put her in her place and prevent more people from getting hurt," Sonic said.
"Of course, ready to tag along with Team Dark?" Shadow asked.
"I am more than ready, let's do this Shadow," Sonic said.
"Can I come too?" Saffron asked.
"Can you fight princess?" Shadow asked as Saffron carried a plasma stinger pistol.
"I am a pretty good shot and I can give you aerial recon for your team," Saffron said.
"Well, welcome aboard Princess," Shadow said as Saffron bowed her head to give Shadow and Sonic proper respect.
"I will not fail Charmy, I will not disappear you," Saffron said as Shadow got a call from the Commander Tower.
"Shadow, get here to Central City ASAP. President Jackson wants to discuss the manner with you all himself," Towers said as Shadow got close to Sonic and Saffron to teleport to Central City to be within the White House where the United Federation President is based inside his office.
"Good to see you Shadow. I am so sorry about the Golden Hive Colony Princess, we could have gotten there faster," the tall human commander said as Sonic remembered this was the commander who used to hate Shadow back during the Black Arms Invasion. Now Commander Towers and Shadow are on good terms with Towers being the commanding officer of Team Dark.
"It's okay sir, I am helping with the mission to save my people and my Charmy," Saffron said as Commander Towers brought the three to the President's office but the human leader was talking with the metal owl on a holographic screen.
"What do you want ADAM?" President Jackson asked.
"Well, I am here to give you an offering that benefits all of humankind. I am an AI made by Doctor Ivan Kintobor and my purpose is to bring Humanity back to its former glory. You will allow the United Federation and the rest of humanity to join me in this," ADAM said as Sonic was getting uneasy looking at this thing and its emotionless booming voice.
"Why would I do that?" the president said.
"Because to undue Humanity's mistake and sins from the ancient pasts. Making a brighter future for the humans of this world but for this to happen. The slate must be wiped clean meaning all Mobains must be purged from this world forever to put humanity back on top," ADAM said as everyone is tense from this and Jackson is deeply angered by this.
"Are you insane, why would the United Federation agree with this?" the president demanded.
"You have no chance, either you join me and make this easy or I deem all current humanity as genetic stock to be used to create a new humanity I would make to my liking," ADAM said.
"Then I consider your offer and shove it deep down your throat. We honor and respect our Mobians allies for all the things we went through together for this planet. Instead of joining you, GUN and its allies will defeat you like the rest," the president said to get fiery with the evil AI.
"Well, this makes things easier. Current humanity is corrupted by these things. It matters not once I gather all your human corpses. I will use your genetic code and make the next generation of humans for the new world. While you all will be left behind in the sands of time," ADAM said to cut off the line as he beamed his metal owl face on every screen on Mobius.
"Greetings people of the world, you must be confused about why cybernetic creatures are trying to kill you or making you one of them. I am ADAM, an AI creation created by my master to aid in the development of humankind. This world used to be different so long ago but now something tragic happened to make the world the way it is now. Now my plan Project Rebirth is underway which will lead humanity back on top of this world and every Mobian will become extinct," ADAM declared as ADAM has hacked every single monitor and screen on the planet.
"Gee, this is insane. He hacked every screen on Mobius," Rouge said on Shadow's earpiece as she sounded very shocked to see a big metal OWL all over the TV screens on billboards, holo screens, and even on the Internet.
"Your leaders didn't want to see my vision and now you will pay the price," ADAM orders EVE and his forces to invade a human city called Mazuri on Efrika.
"Well seems like they made their move. Time to capture that woman and get her databank to see how the Metal Virus ticks," Sonic said as Shadow nodded his head.
"What are your orders, sir?" Shadow asked the President as the human leader sighs at this.
"Kintobor, that name is pretty forgetful about," President Jackson said.
"Yes, it's an old family name that goes back pretty deeply. Belongs to a family of geniuses that are connected to the Robotnik's family tree which are their future descendants," Towers said as he saw Shadow deeply worried about Hope.
"Gee, Robotnik always seems to be coming up to haunt us one way or another," Sonic getting tired of that. "Now we have an AI created by another mad scientist," Sonic said.
Commander Towers places a hand on Shadow's shoulder. "Don't worry, we are going to get her back. I can't believe it has come back to this. I didn't think she would go rouge," Towers said.
"She feels alone and vulnerable. She didn't betray us, we betrayed her," Shadow said as Towers nodded his head for he was consumed by anger and grief at Maria's death in the past. He put his rage into Shadow trying to kill him due to some misunderstanding.
"I understand her fears of becoming another Eggman due to her family history. It's a well-stated fear but we need to tell her she is valuable and aided GUN in protecting Humanity and its allies in the Mobains," Towers said.
"Yes, you Mobians are our friends and allies. We did have problems in the past but now it's the present. Humans and Mobains are side by side against evil like Eggman, Black Doom, and now this ADAM AI," the president said.
"I can't agree more," Shadow said as Saffron takes this all in and is overwhelmed by all this,
"This is very intense but I got your guys' backs along with the rest of the Golden Hive Colony," Saffron said.
"We need to head for Mazuri ASAP," Sonic said feeling more determined to stop ADAM's plans.
"I can't agree more, and bring back EVE. We need to take her data to understand how this Metal Virus works and know how to counter it," Towers said.
"Also Sonic, I need to access it as well. I need to copy her databases to save Mina and Charmy along with the countless others out there," Nicole said on his radio earpiece.
"Of course," Sonic, Shadow, and Saffron head off to teleport away back to Central City's GUN airbase. Airships were preparing for a military operation to strike back against these cybernetic monsters. Rouge, Omega, Tangle, Ace, Whisper, and Shard were waiting for them at the hangar.
"Come to join the party Sonic?" Tangle asked as she gave him a fist bump.
"You know it, time to give some payback for what ADAM did," Sonic said as everyone got into the Airship for the fleet to towards Mazuri to take out EVE and her forces threatening the human city.
Elsewhere Sally, Bunnie, and Team Hooligan come towards the hanger for Infinite and Metal is preparing the Egg Carrier MK 2. "So, you are our back huh?" Metal asked.
"Yes, I and my team will be aiding you in taking that Chaos Emerald from that crazy AI," Sally said.
"Gee, those cybernetic creatures give me the creeps," Bunnie said grabbing onto her robotic arm to feel sick thinking about turning into one of those things. Bean takes her hands to look deep into her eyes.
"Don't worry cottontail, I got your back," Bean said as Bunnie giggled at this.
"Oh, so sweet Duckie," Bunnie said as she kissed him on the beak with bean glowing in the face.
"Oh boy," Bean said, dumbfounded by Bunnie's beauty and beautiful accent with Infinite wanting to rip out their throats to shut them up.
"Are you two done yet, it makes me want to throw up," Infinite said.
"I agree despite me not having a mouth," Metal said.
"Come on, light up a little. We need to in these trying times," Bunnie said.
"Yes but tone it down Bunnie and Bean. If you want to fuck, get a room somewhere," Fang said as Bunnie has a mysterious smile on her face.
"I may bank on that," Bunnie presses her large chest onto Bean's arm getting his attention. "When we go into the airship, meet me in the back. We will have a little fun before the mission," Bunnie said as Bean blushed from this busty beauty.
"Oh, okay angel faces," Bean said as Bark pats him on the back to wish him luck. "Thanks, bud," Bean said as they began to get into the airship. Bunnie pulls down her leotard slightly showing her deep cleavage to her crush.
The gang goes inside as they head in their direction towards Adam's main base.
Back with Sonic in the main GUN airship, the fleet is flying above the Southern Ocean to head for Efrika's landmass. He is on deck to see the ocean below to see Saffron nearby looking up into the sky. "Hey there Saffron," Sonic greeted as Saffron was in deep thought.
"Hey Sonic, how are you feeling?" Saffron asked about Mina.
"I am just focused on saving the city and solving this Metal Virus problem. Mina isn't the only one who is affected by this," Sonic said.
"Yeah, Charmy," Saffron said softly thinking about Charmy.
"You care about him huh?" Sonic asked.
"Of course, I will be his future wife after all," Saffron said as Sonic looked at her dumbfounded.
"Hold on a minute, future wife?" Sonic asked.
"Yes, I and Charmy have been friends for a long time since we were kids. We were chosen to be together via arranged marriage when we were young by our families. It will not be official until we are of age," Saffron said as Sonic laughed at this.
"Wow, Charmy becoming a prince. Hard to believe," Sonic said as Saffron nodded her head.
"Of course, that's how life in the Golden Hive Colony works. Families do this to strengthen ties for political and social status via arranged marriages," Saffron said.
"Make sense I guess, seems like your love is genuine," Sonic said.
"Yep, Charmy is a bit immature but he is sweet and kind. Very brave and adventurous. I was so jealous he got to go on adventures with the Chaotix. Charmy was a single child and he is incredibly happy to be with the boys. Espio, Vector, Mighty, and Ray, he sees as brothers and deeply looks up to them," Saffron said.
"Just like me and Tails," Sonic said as Saffron giggled at this.
"Yes, he thinks you are very cool too. Now I am here, going on an adventure but not in the conditions I wanted," Saffron said.
"We will pull through this Saffron. We will save the ones we love from this mess," Sonic said.
"Of course, we will. Speaking of which Mina was pretty brave going through that nightmare saving to save us," Saffron said.
"Yeah, she was always like that. She used to be much shyer back in the day but now she is an extremely outgoing girl who wears her emotions on her shoulders," Sonic said.
"I can tell from her music which is quite good. I wish I could be like her and be a brave adventurer," Saffron said.
"Now it's your chance to prove yourself," Sonic said.
"Yeah I will not fail on this," Saffron said to pat her pistol on her hip.
Elsewhere Shadow is on the deck looking out into the ocean to be scared about how Similar himself and ADAM in their methods of performing their final wishes for their masters in twisted ways. For Shadow, it's for revenge on Maria via Gerald Robotnik and ADAM who seek to perform the wishes of his creators to bring back Humanity to its former glory at any cost.
"Gee, he reminds me of myself when I almost destroyed Mobius due to distorted memories," Shadow said as he saw Sonic walking beside him.
"What's up Shadow?" Sonic asked to see if he was looking perplexed.
"Just thinking about the past and the Ark incident over 5 years ago," Shadow said.
"Why are you thinking about this now?" Sonic asked.
"Well, ADAM reminds me of myself back then. I almost destroyed Mobius due to Gerald's madness but in the end, he was a good man pushed to the edge. ADAM is connected with Ivan Kintobor who is Hope's ancestor. He is driven by his creator's desires to bring humanity back to its glory no matter the cost just like I used to act like in the past when I conducted my mission against humanity," Shadow said.
"You can't be serious, you are not like him Shadow," Sonic said.
"Did you forget I almost destroyed Mobius by ramming the Ark into the planet?" Shadow questioned.
"You didn't know your memories were changed. This ADAM is doing it on his own accord. You did the right thing in the end and redeemed yourself. So, you are nothing alike," Sonic said as he crossed his arms like usual and stared out into the ocean.
"You are right but I do see my old self in ADAM. Like watching the ghost from the past creep up on you," Shadow said.
"Shadow," Sonic said.
"I left the past behind; I am tired of it. I want to be with the others and keep moving forward with him. Forging myself future by my own hands, which is what I learned when facing Black Doom so long ago," Shadow said.
"Right, we got to walk our paths," Sonic said as Shadow nodded his head.
"Yeah, I wish Hope understood she is not defined by her family's dark history but by her actions. She helped this world too many times to count and she is a hero in my eyes. Easily Gerald's successor in making the world a better place," Shadow said as Shadow and Sonic just looked out into the ocean to brace for the fight ahead.
Within the hour, EVE is unleashing her forces onto the human city as a missile was sent by an unknown location to unleash the Metal Virus with clouds of nanites flooding into the city to infect hundreds of thousands of humans and Mobians alike transforming them into cybernetic husks.
The city is in a deep panic with unaffected civilians to be attacked and killed by the aggressive monsters made into twisted metal and wires. EVE's new army is attacking the vulnerable city overwhelming their defenses.
"Now they will pay for declining our offer. These humans are corrupted by their time with these disgusting Mobians and need to be wiped clean to replace with better humans," EVE said as she detected several GUN Airships coming to the besieged city.
"So, they come to this place to reclaim it. Target their ships and rain down back to earth," EVE said as her flying units went to fight the airships.
Back with Sonic and Shadow huge flying Thunderbirds become cybernetic monsters to begin firing lasers and rockets at the Airships but their shields hold off their assault. "Sonic, grab my hand. We are going after EVE," Shadow places his hand on Sonic's shoulder to teleport towards EVE's location he detected.
Rouge leads the others into fighting the cybernetic hordes on the ground. "Omega, you are ready to go?" she asked.
"Detecting multiple targets, I wanted to try these new combat systems for some time now," Omega said as Saffron prepared her Plasma Stinger for battle.
"You ready Saffron?" Rouge asked.
'Of course, let's do this," Saffron said as GUN sent in dropships into certain zones with the Airships giving support via precise barrages to destroy hordes of cybernetic monsters.
"We need to recapture the city and wipe out the hordes of husks here," Rouge said as GUN soldiers descended into the bowels of the city to confront the enemies. Whisper holds up her weapon to see humans looking weird being made of metal and wires.
"Goodness, poor things," Whisper said as she used her CAP in Laser mode to blast them in the head leaving behind burning neck slots.
Omega is unloading lasers and explosive rounds to turn a bunch of husks into piles of scrap metal. "Eat this," Omega blasts a large Cyber Thunderbird into its chest to see it burst into a thousand pieces.
"Poor Thunderbirds, transforming into war machines for some crazy AI," Tangle kicks a Cyber Human into a window using her tail like a hammer to bash away groups of Cyber Humans.
"Nothing we can do. We need to retake the city and wipe out these monsters," Ace said as he is blasting away enemies with his auto pistol using his Phantom to lock targets in place. He lands headshots to put down cybernetic human husks acting like aggressive zombies trying to rush them all at once.
"Of course, boss man," Shard aims his chain gun to unleash a volley of explosive rounds to pepper the groups of cybernetic creatures turning them into scrap metal. He aims his chain gun to wipe out three Cyber Thunderbirds and sees them falling out of the sky.
Rouge is kicking away enemies with GUN soldiers using their combat rifles to mow down groups of enemies but they just keep coming.
"Gee, they are everywhere. This is horrible," a GUN pilot is taking control of a Big Foot mech is unloading missiles and bullets to cut down the incoming cybernetic enemies.
"Hey Madonna, are you okay?" Rouge asked on the radio.
"Yes, but this is insane. This guy claims he wants to aid Humanity but he only sees us as playthings he can use until he gets bored," Madonna said.
'Tell me about it, this EVE woman is a total bitch," Derek said as he is piloting another Big Foot walker.
"I can ditto that," Rouge said as she tossed bombs to land on the stomach of a Cyber Thunderbird. She triggers them on her glove to see the giant bird explode into many pieces.
Saffron is firing off hordes of enemies by using her sharpshooting and flying skills to weave through danger while blasting away Cyber Bee Soldiers with her plasma shots.
"How are you holding up Saffron?" Rouge asked on the radio.
"I am doing okay, holding my own here," Saffron said as she was tackled by a Cyber Bee Soldier to aimed its blaster at her. Whisper manages to blast the cybernetic Mobian in the head killing it instantly.
"Don't push yourself, Saffron," Whisper said as she transformed her CAP into a Shotgun mode to blow the top part of a Cyber Human leaving only its legs still standing while blue blood splashed onto Whisper's combat bodysuit.
"I will," Saffron said as everyone defended the city with EVE standing on top of a skyscraper.
"Well, this is Africa. The birthplace of humankind and it will be the garden of Eden to my master's new world order," EVE said as Sonic and Shadow teleported behind her. Shadow wastes no time and attacks EVE to strike her back.
EVE blocks his attack and shoves him away but Sonic uses his Spin Dash to aim for EVE's head. She knocks him away as the two hedgehogs prepare for their fight. "It's over EVE, we got the city surrounded," Sonic said.
"Better make the rights moves," Shadow said.
"You two, you will not stop my master's plans. Humanity will regain a new golden age with my master becoming the god they deserve. While you Mobians will be a thing of the past," EVE tosses orbs of gravity with the two hedgehogs evading her attacks.
"Chaos Spear," Shadow tosses several energy spears to implode the gravity orbs on impact. Sonic uses a Homing Attack to strike at EVE.
EVE tosses gravity mines to stop their pursuit with Shadow and Sonic moving through the mines. They set off with the gravity wells to lock them in place as EVE kicks both of them onto the floor. She fires tons of energy beams from her palms with the two hedgehogs to avoid her energy attacks.
Shadow teleports back her and kicks her on the back with Sonic slamming into her chest to damage it. The android stomps her foot to produce a shockwave with Shadow and Sonic rolling into balls to leap over the energy wave to slam into the android.
EVE flies into the air to blast the skyscraper with energy beams to make it break apart underneath Sonic and Shadow. The two hedgehogs leap onto falling debris while avoiding the energy beams from EVE.
"Light Speed Attack," Sonic throws himself at light speed to tear through EVE's left leg to leave hovering in the air with one leg.
"You little rat," EVE said as she tossed orbs of gravity to Sonic in mid-air to be caught in its orbit making them helpless by its gravitational pull. Sonic uses Light Speed Dash to escape from its grip but slingshot himself to slam into EVE again.
She gets sent flying into a building leaving a crater behind. Shadow tosses several Chaos Spears into her body to explode. EVE crashes into the room her body getting very damaged.
"You can't stop this," EVE said as she prepared another black hole to aim it right at Shadow.
"Chaos Control," Shadow freezes EVE in place to kick her head hard enough to knock it clean off her head. Blue blood is shooting out of her neck slot as she falls lifelessly onto the floor. "That is the end of that," Shadow said as he took the body and Sonic back onto the head airship.
"Shadow I am going to need to take this to Nicole and she needs to copy her abilities to control the nanites using the Metal Virus," Sonic said.
"Of course, I am going to make a copy of her systems for research purposes first," Shadow said as soon enough GUN forces managed to mop up the enemy forces at a great loss. Several thousand soldiers were killed in defeating the hundred thousand Cyber monsters.
Whisper puts a laser bolt into the head of a dying monster for they managed to clear out the city. "Yes, we did it," Tangle gives Ace a high five.
"It's not over yet, we managed to capture EVE intact but ADAM is still out there. We need to know where his secret hideout is found," Rouge said as Saffron was tired of her holding tightly to her pistol.
"I hope Nicole can fix Charmy soon," Saffron said as they managed to secure the city of Mazuri.
Elsewhere ADAM is within his bunker hidden in northern Efrika to see EVE has failed. "Oh well, she has served her purpose and can be replaced easily," ADAM said as he had more EVE androids for him to use to protect his base. The giant metal owl looks at the screen to see the satellite prepared with Hope using her DNA to activate it.
"Project Rebirth is underway; this satellite will go into the atmosphere and will spread the Metal Virus worldwide turning every person on this planet into a servant to rebuild a new world," ADAM said as Hope was in the corner ashamed of herself with guilt rotting her mind.
"Shadow please help me, I am not strong enough for this," Hope wept with her heart etched with pain and suffering learning about the truth of her family and how the world truly came to be.
