"So, why are we doing this if your sure its a hoax?" Cat asked, as he and Ladybug tread water in the Seine. "Believe me, I'd rather hang out with you at Starbucks, but with Hawkmoth, you can never be to careful," Ladybug told Cat.
The duo had gotten a tip that some Cryptoid creature could be coming in the Seine, and Ladybug wasn't taking chances, hoax or no hoax. "The Yeti, Nessie, Bigfoot. There all myths, M'lady."
Ladybug looked at her partner, her face serious. "I've seen monsters, Cat. They aren't anything to play around with." Cat swam over, putting his arms on her shoulders. "Hey," his normally playful voice was serious. "You sleeping okay?" she nodded. "Monsters don't have to have fangs, claws, or fur. And they can manipulate the right person, given the chance."
The young hero gave a small shiver. It had only been weeks since Cat Blanc, and though Ladybug would never think of her partner as a monster, she felt a surge of hate for the man in the purple suit.
The memories were slightly fuzzy, but it seemed to Ladybug, Hawkmoth had known exactly who he was dealing with, and making him do his bidding. Poor Cat hadn't been able to disobey, no matter how much he resisted.
"Hey," she asked, and Cat turned to her, still concerned. "I think this really is a hoax, and we can go for hot chocolate. Hold my hand?"
Cat's warm green eyes, so loving and trusting looked back at her. "I'm always here, Little Bug," he kissed her cheek softly. Ladybug wiped her eyes, and kissed him back. The monster hadn't won, and she would protect her partner, no matter what the cost.
