There was no warning for the wyvern as the ground under it rose up in rows of jagged spikes, most of them not strong or durable enough to pierce its underbelly, but the wyvern screeched loudly as a few did stab shallowly into its flesh.

Eric didn't give time for it to fully wake up as a dark purple magic circle appeared in the air above the wyvern, Eric growling as he brought his hands down and the ground under the wyvern shattered as the beast was forced deep into the crater beneath it.

Eric smirked as he heard the pained howls of the wyvern as forcing the beast deeper into the ground had most likely also forced the spikes under it to stab deeper into its body.

However, his smirk swiftly disappeared as the dust cloud dispersed, revealing the wyvern growling with rage as it glared directly at his hiding spot.

The spikes stabbing into its body was slowly crumbling away as it pushed itself up and despite the fact that there were gaping holes in its wings & chest that had blood constantly flowing from them, the beast didn't look any worse for wear as it gave a deafening roar.

A flash of brown was the only warning Eric got as he shifted himself upwards as high and as fast as he could, watching as a storm of scorching winds and coarse sand tore right through the tree he was hiding in as well as the groups of trees around it.

Floating back down to the ground whilst feeling as light as a feather, Eric frowned as the beast glared up at him before the ground under it cratered and his eyes widened as the wyvern launched itself up into the air.

The beast was on him within seconds, its maw opening wide and hot winds blowing onto his face as he visibly saw the breath attack of the wyvern getting closer before he swiftly pushed himself out of the attack's path before forcing himself up above it.

However, he growled as he had not escaped unscathed, small holes littering his left forearm with drops of blood dripping from them while the areas around the holes looked to have 1st degree burns.

'Fuck! That's it! This bastard is dead!' Eric growled as he lifted his left index finger up to the sky and as the wyvern fell to the ground since it could not fly with the holes in its wings, its eyes widened slightly in surprise & a bit of its rage disappeared as its body was forced upwards once more.

"Repel." Eric growled as he forced himself forward, the light violet aura around his fist turning to a light crimson as he punched it square in the snout and the air vibrated as ten times gravity sent the beast crash landing into the swamp.

"Attract." Eric was not finished as a light blue aura now covered his hand, the gravity shifting once more and sending the beast back up to Eric before the crimson aura reappeared and it was forced back into the swamp once more.

Eric did not stop as he did the same two moves over and over while his body floated back to the ground, only seizing his attack after he was standing on the corpse of the wyvern & his entire body ached from his ethernano being forced to its absolute lowest.

Glaring at the beast for the next minute until he was absolutely sure that it was actually dead, Eric sighed as he sat down on the corpse of the beast before hissing in pain as the movement had aggravated his arm wounds.

"Wow, that hurts." He groaned as he tore off his shirt and wrapped the torn shirt around his arm, thanking the fact that he had brought extra clothes as his pants had also been torn apart by the winds that clipped him.

An unexpected chuckle escaped his lips as Eric looked down at the beast he was sitting on, the realization dawning on him as it finally hit him.

He actually defeated a Wyvern on his own.

Was it injured and weakened by a recent battle, most likely with another Wyvern? Yes, but it was still a Wyvern, known to be the apex predator of the modern Earthland times except for a powerful mage or a group of average mages…and he just beat one on his own.

'You know, I always did think that I was exceptional.'

"To think that the beast was a wyvern. You were truly sent by the divines to vanquish that foul beast & save our village. I thank you on behalf on all the townspeople here." Eric stifled his sigh as Hubert thanked him for the umpteenth time ever since he dragged the wyvern's corpse back to the village after he had rested enough to replenish most of his ethernano.

However, when he woke up this morning, Eric was surprised to feel that his ethernano container had nearly doubled in size compared to what it felt like yesterday, which he supposed supported what Bacchus & Guy taught him about magic.

'A mage grows stronger than ever when battling a strong opponent.' Did he think that sounded like the wise sensei's explanation for growing stronger in every generic shonen anime/ manga that he was watched/ read? Yes, he did, but the results spoke for themselves.

'Oh, right. Hubert's waiting for me to speak. I really need to stop daydreaming.'

"Ah, I thank you for the praise, Mr. Mayor, but as I said before, I merely caught the beast off-guard and it was a young wyvern & not an adult one. Otherwise, that battle would have gone far more differently than it did. Now, I must be heading back as I'm sure my guild are probably waiting to hear about my mission."

"Are you sure there isn't a way that we can compensate you accordingly for your valour? No one expected you to take on a Wyvern." Hubert said with a frown and Eric chuckled as he shook his head.

"You've already let me take the beast's head and a few more things that I needed, so that is payment enough. Besides, I did the mission even though I knew it was a Wyvern to rescue you all, because what kind of mage would I be if I left innocent people to fend for themselves?"

'I can feel your pain, Eric, but it's for the long haul. Make yourself seem like a hero and more missions will come your way, which means more money later.' Eric thought with a smile that hid the pain he felt in his chest from having to say no to money as he saw the unshed tears in Hubert's eyes as well as the townspeople that were with them at the exit looking happy at his words.

"Now, then. The fun people of Onibea Town and its wonderful mayor, I must bid you all adieu. Farewell and until we meet again."

"We shall raise a statue in your honour, young Eric!" He heard the mayor exclaim and Eric just chuckled as he nodded before starting his trek back to Oak Town while carrying the head of the wyvern on his shoulders as he whistled a happy tune.

'Not bad for a first job.'

"…Is this how Makarov felt with his Salamander?" Eric gave Goldmine a confused stare at his words while he heard Guy and Bacchus chuckling/ snickering next to him.

"Uh, you okay there, Master?"

"Not at all. I need a few painkillers if this is going to be how every mission is going to be with you."

"I didn't even do anything."

"Who the hell takes on a dark mage AND wyvern on their very first mission?!" Goldmine exclaimed and Eric shrugged in response.

"The dark mage was coincidentally on the same path that I was using and I didn't know a wyvern was the beast I was supposed to kill until the last second. By then, I couldn't try to run away as any move I made would draw attention to me and possibly aggravate and/ or anger the beast, which meant that the town would be at risk. Thus, I ran the possible solutions through my head and picked the best one."

"…You've been teaching him too much on how to talk with the paparazzi." Goldmine grumbled as he looked at Guy, who smirked as he nodded.

"Indeed, I did and I see that he's putting those lessons to good use." Eric gave him a grin as he nodded with a thumbs-up while Goldmine sighed and Bacchus snickered.

"Okay, fine. It was a mission well done and your thinking was sound, but from now on, try to be more concerned about your own life instead of focusing solely on the mission. A mage with a failed mission is far better to me than a dead mage with a successful mission, understand?" Goldmine said with a frown and Eric could feel the seriousness in the man's voice as he nodded.

"Understand."

"Good. Well, then. I suppose if you want, you can take on another one?" He asked and Eric smiled as he shook his head.

"No, I actually wanted to take the next few days off to research something. I feel like I'm not ready to actually go into a real battle against dark mages if I waste too much ethernano just fighting one."

"A good head on your shoulders. Okay then. When you want to, just go over to the mission board and pick your job." Eric gave a nod and Goldmine smirked as he nodded before walking around the counter and towards his office as Eric sighed and stood up.

"You okay there, newbie?" Bacchus asked with a lazy smirk and Eric sighed as he shrugged.

"Not sure. That battle against the Dark Mage was easy for me, but fighting against that Wyvern took far more out of me than I expected."

"Of course it did. Your adrenaline was probably flooding your body and forcing you to ignore your physical exhaustion to beat that wyvern."

"That's my problem. I need to train myself more in both the physical and mental aspect. Hey, Bacchus. Can we up my training by using my gravity magic in conjunction with my physical training?"

"…You want to force your body to endure being put under heavy gravity while also forcing it to do intense physical exercises?" He asked with a bewildered look and Eric nodded, a wide grin appearing on the drunkard's face as he nodded.

"Good! Meet me tomorrow at 0600 hours in the backyard of the guild! The training I'll put you through is going to make you vomit piss, piss out shit and shit vomit."

"I look forward to it!" Eric said with a chuckle and Bacchus just snorted as he stood up and stumbled out of the bar, Eric smirking before he turned to Guy, who looked amused at their interaction.

"Does this place have a library?" Eric asked and Guy smirked as he nodded.

"Yes, it does, but last time I suggested using it, you wanted to do more physical training."

"Yep, and I've realized how stupid I was. Now, I need to know. Does this library have anything on making your own Eye Magic to support your main magic? Also, do you know someone that could weld the Wyvern head to the top of the guild?"

'Huh, there's a lot more about this than I thought there would be.' Eric thought with a frown as he stood in the magic section of the library, staring at the books on magic & ethernano displayed in front of him.

"Okay, don't try and overthink it. All I need to do is find the books that explains ethernano in detail and how to make my own Eye Magic." Eric muttered to himself as he scanned through the rows of books starting from the top row until finally, he smirked as he pulled out two books.

' 'The Simple Guide to Ethernano' and 'Eye Magic & A DIY Guide to creating your very own'. Not bad at all.' The young mage thought with a smirk as he carried the two thin books over to the empty table in the middle of the library, sighing as he sat down before opening the first book on 'The Simple Guide to Ethernano'.

THE GUIDE TO ETHERNANO IN THE WORLD OF EARTHLAND:

A)What is Ethernano?

*Ethernano are the particles of ambient magic energy that can be found in the atmosphere of Earthland. For the regular human, it is completely useless, but for those known to be mages, Ethernano is the source for all of their magic.

*It gives them the capabilities to use their magic and their ethernano is stored in a container called The Origin, which is located just behind & slightly below their heart.

*Unfortunately, some times the Ethernano in the atmosphere could be too highly concentrated and can have detrimental areas on the human body. These areas are called Grand Magic Zones.

B)How is Ethernano used by Mages?

*When a mage had completely used up all of the ethernano in their Origin, ambient ethernano in the atmosphere shall enter their body & slowly fill it back up, but their container has now grown from the strain of being emptied & so, more ethernano can be used next time.

*However, this expansion process is not endless nor is it instant as genetics determine not only the potency & quantity of your ethernano, but it also determines how many times you can expand your Origin until it cannot expand any longer and it takes the average mage years before their ethernano Origin has grown nearly half of its original size.

*However, mages should not fret as every mage also possess another dormant origin in their lower abdomen called the Second Origin. This Origin Container is twice the size of the first and more potent, giving them the capabilities to use more powerful spells as well as increased magical stamina.

C)How to train your Ethernano:

*Now, I'm sure this is the part you all have been wanting to read this book for, so here are the methods on how to train your Ethernano to grow bigger in potency & quantity.

-Note: Some of these methods would deliver excellent results for you while others may take you years before you can actually see results. It is your job to figure out which of these work for you & which don't.

(1)Meditation: Training yourself mentally shall help your Origin grow in potency & slightly in quantity as you are sharpening your mind & refining the mental aspect of your magic.

(2)Physical Exercise: Now, you may be mentally fit to use your magic, but your physical body is not powerful enough to handle your new potent levels of ethernano. This is especially helpful for mages who have a magic attribute where you need to be physically fit or where you need a strong body to resist the effects of your magic.

(3)Surgical Transplants: While frowned upon, transplanting Dragon Lacrimas into your body is also another way of increasing the potency & quantity of ethernano. However, not many survive the sudden influx of raw & pure ethernano that has yet to be refined by your body, so this type is usually left as a last resort. However, if you can withstand it, you will achieve great strength in a short period of time.

(4)Constant Repetition: Those that have mastered the use of one magic are known to be stronger than those that try to learn every magic they can & you should strive to be the same. Using the same magic over & over and figuring the inner workings of that magic will help you master control over both that magic & your ethernano, which is another aspect that is critical to becoming a good mage.

(5)Nutrition: Yes, eating right is also a good way to boost your ethernano Origin as certain foods have been proven to help your body restore ethernano faster & thus speed up your training process.

(6)Learning New Magic Forms: Now, while this is slightly contradictory to point 4, it is still a good training method. Your method will, over time, grow used to you training just one form of magic & will start to stagnate, so you will see that those that know different kinds of magic are quite strong & capable and while there are people that grew insanely powerful with only one kind of magic, they are quite rare in our world.

'Well…for the opening page of a book, they really gave almost everything I'd need.' Eric thought with a smirk as he turned the page and continued reading, nothing but the silence accompanying him in the room.

Half an hour later, he let out a deep sigh as he placed the book down, his mind reeling slightly as it processed everything that he had just read.

'So, ethernano is basically a fusion of chakra and nen. Also, the training methods they spoke of in the first page sound like they would all be useful, but some of them might fit me and some might not.' Eric thought with a frown as he rolled his neck, training methods for using what he learned already flowing through his mind before he sighed as he shook his head.

"Now, on to the next one." Eric muttered with a hum as he reached over and opened onto the first page of the book as he begun to read.

EYE MAGIC & A DIY GUIDE TO CREATE YOUR OWN:

Eye Magic is a rare form of magic where one learns a magic spell and then seal that spell into one or both eyes with the usage of Jutsu Shiki. There are many different eye magic that can enhance, entrance, disorient and so much more, but which one you want to learn is up to you and your capabilities.

Other than the basics of Jutsu Shiki to seal the specific spell in your eyes, no advanced knowledge of it is needed in order to to activate & use your newfound Eye Magic. Multiple different types of spells can be sealed into your eyes as a form of Eye Magic in order to make you versatile during battle.

However, it has been proven by researchers that each eye can only store about three to four types of spells before they are put under severe stress There are a few different ways for a mage to seal the different kinds of spells into their eyes and create their very own, but the three methods that give the best and most consistent results are as follows:

A)Jutsu Shiki: As explained throughout the book, Jutsu Shiki is the most used method to seal magic spells into your eyes in order to create your Eye Magic, but it is also the most difficult as learning the needed Jutsu Shiki means having to learn the basic alphabet of an entire new language from scratch & that takes far too much time for the average mage to waste.

-The following Jutsu Shiki runes are required to learn in order to seal the magic in your eyes:

*Spell Absorption

*Maximum Spell Enhancement

*Passive Ethernano Absorption

*Maximum Flesh Strengthening

*Sensory Enhancement

-Spell Absorption & Maximum Spell Enhancement are used to permanently absorb the magic spells needed from your body and seal them into your eyes. Passive Ethernano Absorption is to allow the eyes to passively absorb the ambient ethernano in the atmosphere and slowly strengthen the eyes during the recovery period. Maximum Flesh Strengthening is a spell that will also strengthen the eyes during the recovery period, but with the help of Passive Ethernano Absorption, it will help the eyes grow to the strongest it can be in order to handle the strain. Finally, Sensory Enhancement is used to strengthen the nerves connecting the eyes and the brain so that if the mage had sealed a Scan Magic spell or a Farsight Magic spell, the brain is strong enough to handed the overload of information.

B)Surgical Implanting: Just like with how you can surgically implant Lacrima into your body to enhance & boost your ethernano reserves in both quantity & potency, you can also implant the eyes of different magical beasts into your very own in order to give you their specific magic, such as the Thermal Vision of the Blizzard Wyvern or the Farsight of the Forest Bear-Owls.

The methods of doing this, however, are kept secret and only a professional that was approved by the Magic Council themselves are allowed to perform the surgery on a mage, so if a mage wants to use this method, they'll have to procure the eyes of the beast they want to use and then make an appointment with one of the dozen or so approved surgeons in Fiore.

*Just remember that they like to charge a lot for the surgery so make sure you have the money before you make an appointment.

Those are but just two of the dozens of methods that have been made throughout the ages, but those two methods are also the ones that work the best so as someone who's written this book & have tried both methods, the first method is highly recommended as the second can take your body up to a month before it finally adjusts to the new eyes.

Also, for those worried about the fact that most beasts' eyes are either bigger or smaller than your own, I do not know what magic the surgeons use, but they are able to shrink/ grow the eyes of the beasts to replicate your own before they transplanted them into your head, so you need not have worries about that. For better information of understanding Eye Magic better, continue reading the book to the end.

"Damn, this is far more in-depth than I expected." Eric muttered with an excited smirk as he read through the book, surprised to see that Eye Magic was this diverse despite the fact that only a few were shown in the anime.

'That's my problem, isn't it? I'm still thinking of this as some sort of weird self-insert fanfiction where I'm the main character and even though I wrote something similar to this in my past life, that doesn't mean that I know the exact script.' Eric thought with a frown as he stopped reading, the realization hitting him that he's been acting as if this was still a world of anime, where the 'Power of Friendship' as others like to call it will help him win the battle at the end of the day just like how it would have with Natsu.

No, this was an actual world that was far more diverse and expanded than the one he knew and he had to treat it as such.

'No more playing around. It's time that I forget about my old life, focus on this one and focus on honing my mind, body and soul to become as powerful as it can be.'

A/N: Is he going to create his own weird fusion of the Sharingan, the Six Eyes and some form of Farsight.

Uh, yes he is! But I don't want it to be easy for him to achieve it so he'll be studying a while before he gets even the basics down.

Next chapter is a new arc and it is a bit of a weird one for me, but I'll try and see how much you all like it.

As always, read, enjoy, review and until the next one…

Ba-Bye~!
