A Montage of Motherhood

The Burrow
Molly Prewitt Weasley was a simple woman, she only needed her husband, her brothers, and a roof over her head. Like the Weasleys, the Prewitts were never rich, but her Aunt Muriel guarded the family's fortune like a slumbering dragon. The burrow was a ramshackle home with a garden gnome problem, chicken coops, and the only entertainment was the field and a pond outback. It was fine by her, she and her husband were rather frugal to begin with anyways. No amount of gold could buy their love, so choke on that Malfoy!
Though Molly had to admit there was one issue bugging her, well it was a multitude of issues really. After two years of marriage, Molly was eight months pregnant with her and Arthur's first son. Not that that is the problem, far from it. But her husband's insistence on her taking it easy along with all of the food cravings and mood swings she had were taking its toll.
Whenever she looked in the mirror and couldn't really see "Molly Weasley, National Dueling Champion 1969." Rather what she saw was a woman with a large ballooning sensation in her abdomen. She saw stretch marks encroaching her waistline and her hips widening. Not to mention her cup size going up from lactation. All of it really just made Molly feel like a bloated balloon and she hoped to get back into fighting shape after Bill was born.
"When you come out of there, you'll have all the love in the world." She thought to herself, rubbing her belly.
Her husband Arthur returned home, placing his hat on a coat rack revealing his full head of carrot orange hair. Arthur was the head of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts at the Ministry of Magic, his expertise was pulling apart muggle items that were affected by magic and restoring them to normal. Part of his bonus from last year went to buying an old Ford Angela for him to practice his craft on. He smiled at his wife as he sat next to her on the couch.
"How are my two favorite people in the world?" Arthur Weasley asked his wife and unborn son.
"We've been fine Arthur. Though I must admit I've been feeling rather low." Molly admitted to herself.
"Oh? What for?" Arthur asked.
"Well it's just… Arthur, have I gotten fat?" Molly asked.
Arthur feared this question would come, he remembered when his father once drunkenly said yes to that question to his mum and had a piece of his ear chopped off.
"Don't you worry yourself Arthur, you got this..." he thought.
"Well Molly… you're still the woman I love, just… more of you." Arthur said.
Molly's temper rose but was quickly quelled.
"Not that it's a bad thing!… it's to be expected as a part of motherhood, and it doesn't mean I think any less of you for it." Arthur said as he held Molly's hands.
Molly smiled a bit.
"Really?" She asked, feeling a bit better
"Of course mollywobbles- er- I mean-" Arthur started before being interrupted by mollys girlish giggling.
"Mollywobbles. I like that a lot actually." Molly said as she kissed him on the cheek.
Arthur smiled at another Weasley bomb defused and went to go prepare supper. Molly kept rubbing her baby bump wondering what the future would bring…

New Burrow, Ottery St Catchpole
Parenthood was quite the journey for Molly and Arthur. It wasn't easy raising your children amidst a war, let alone have them be involved in the war. Molly still looked sadly at the last picture of the whole Weasley family taken during Fleur and Bill's wedding, George and Fred were still smiling when that was rare for George these days. But it was time to shake off the sadness of the past, for today was for the joys of the present. Molly walked outside, levitating various foods on trays as she placed them on a table outside.
Today was the monthly Weasley luncheon, where the entire family met up to catch up. Arthur was chewing Hermione's dad's ear off about muggle goods whilst her mother talked to Madame delacour. Harry was behind the grill cooking burgers for everyone while Ron kept trying to sneak bites. The other boys were talking and Bill went to take James and Victoire inside for a nap. Molly smiled and brought a tray of small meat pies to a part of the party in the shade.
Under the shade of the veranda were three women; Ginny Potter, Hermione Weasley, and Fleur Weasley.
Ginny was the least pregnant at around 3 months, she retired from quidditch after an injury in her first game back from having James. She has put on a small bit of pudge, mostly hiding away all of the lean muscle she had built up over her career. Of course, she wore a wool sweater and muggle blue jeans like she typically did even back as a student.
Hermione was around six months pregnant, unlike Ginny it was the muggleborn's first time. She was wearing a set of muggle maternity pants, presumably bought by her mother along with a piece of clothing called a "hooo-deee" that Ronald had shown to his father the other day. Hermione's hips and butfocks were slowly filling up the chair she sat in, and the shirt didn't do such a good job of covering up her pregnant belly.
Fleur meanwhile was ready to give birth to her second daughter, Dominique Weasley, any day now. She wore a maternity dress loaned to her by Molly earlier today when one of her other ones ripped a seam. The quarter-veela was depressed due to becoming visibly fat much like Molly was. Albeit, most of it was divided into an hourglass shape, the watermelon sized pregnant belly she had made her feel all the more bloated.
"And how are the wonders of motherhood treating you three?" Molly asked as she sat down.
"It is an unrelenting job. Especially like zis." Fleur said as she helped herself to the meat pies.
"But it's worth it." Ginny said as she relaxed.
Hermione looked nervous and frowned.
"Yeah… Do I have to fatten up so much though? I can feel the stares at the workplace." Hermione said as she rubbed her shrouded womb.
"Oh their stares don't matter to anything. Please eat up." Molly said as she offered her some meat pies.
Hermione looked hesitant but after her stomach growled she bit into one. She smiled and sighed.
"It tastes so good… I shouldn't be eating so much though." Hermione said.
"Hermione, I am going to tell you the same thing I told Ginny and Fleur when they first got pregnant." Molly said, the two other mothers gave each other knowing looks.
"When you're pregnant, the most important things are your happiness, health, and the baby. Diets, work, even your husband becomes lower on that list. So don't sweat the small stuff, for now, just enjoy yourself… if my Ronny is making you feel bad, I'll knock him up on the side of the head good." Molly said, placing a hand on her shoulder.
Hermione looked a bit better as she lightened up.
"Besides, your youthful looks won't be around forever. Why fight it?" Molly asked as she looked at Arthur's bald head and her graying curls.
The Weasley mothers then chatted about parenting tips and pregnancy stories. How the twins would prank her in her womb by making her feel sick but stop by the time she was in the bathroom. How Molly put on a good 40 lbs from being pregnant with Ron and shed it all with Ginny ironically enough. And how Fleur's and Ginny's first pregnancies were behind the scenes. All of the ladies suddenly feel better about their motherly figures…
Yes, nothing's wrong with being pleasantly plump…
