MisVentures:
The Re-Write!
Chapter 1
Troubles In
The Land
Down Under!
Part 1
Disclaimer: I'm not exactly a fan of re-writes, especially when its actually already a good story and doesn't need to be more 'perfect' or whatever. But to be honest, I ended up not liking the direction I took the original (and will remain up) version of MisVentures and so I've decided to do something of a re-write. Especially since considering I have L1's permission to use his characters and because of that, I can introduce them a lot earlier than what I did in the original. Some stuff will remain the same while others won't.
At the G.I. Joe base known as The Pit
"Alright… Mess with this and adjust that annnnd fire it up!" Called out one Lance 'Avalanche' Alvers of the Misfits, a member of a team originally known as the Brotherhood of Mutants that worked for Magneto and Mystique until they proved just how terrible they were and GI JOE took him and the others in after, from his spot underneath the hood of a Jeep before he moved away from it in the base's Motor Pool/Auto Repair Shop.
Jordans, one of the Greenshirts that serves with the Joes, turned the key on the Jeep and with a roar, the engine came to life. "Yeah!" Whooped the man and so did Lance as well.
"Shockwave'll be happy about this as he loves this thing." Declared a pleased Lance as several hours of work had finally been completed on the Jeep in front of him.
"Let's just hope he doesn't wait too long again to bring her in." Jordans said as he turned the engine off and Lance agreed on that statement while Jordans went off to make a call to Shockwave to let him know his Jeep was ready to go.
Now you might be wondering why Lance was working on a Jeep with a member of the Greenshirts in the Auto Shop and it boiled down to one of his interests being Maintenance on Auto Vehicles, especially his own. He'd taken to being more involved in helping work on the vehicles on the JOE base as one way to help get his mind off of Kitty after their last talk that was rather revealing and leading to the X-Men and the Misfits taking a break from each other. Shortly after Arcade became another member of the Misfit family would even see Lance becoming an official part of the Auto Maintenance Crew much to his own happiness. Plus, it didn't hurt that thanks to the fact he and the others weren't going to the Xavier Institute every other day, he and his friends were able to focus more on themselves and their various interests and school work. And thanks to a little hacking from Arcade, the Pit now had its own version of a Danger Room. It had been based on an old idea for a specialized training room the Joes had tried before but hadn't worked out for one reason or another but thanks to Arcade it was definitely in the work category!
Now this didn't mean that it beat the regular methods of training but it definitely came in handy for various scenarios the Joes and even the Misfits thought up and no one intended on letting Xavier and his bunch find out about the whole thing either! Trinity, Airtight, Arcade, Pietro and his speed, and even Todd surprisingly enough had managed to get the training room up and going in a matter of days. Complete with holographic projections as well. Todd, as everyone, himself included, learned, had a surprising knack for engineering and even technology, though he wasn't anywhere near Arcade's level on the second thing and was just fine with that. Lance's skill in Auto Mechanics not only included regular everyday vehicles like Shockwave's Jeep, but also Tanks, Helicopters, and even Airplanes over time much to his own surprise since being taken in by the JOES with Spirit encouraging him to pursue a Degree in Auto Mechanics. The lack of visits to the Institute and doing all he could to NOT focus on Kitty had definitely helped his focus a lot in that area as well.
Looking at his watch communicator, which included a Power Suppressor Chip that he could turn off whenever he wanted after a talk with Hawk, Spirit, and Airtight on safety measures where his Powers and his Seizures are concerned, Lance realized what time it was. Guess I better clock out, shower, and head home.
Shortly after getting his shower would see Bergley, a half Native American/Polish Female Greenshirt, approach him. "Hey, Alvers! General Hawk wants you in the Briefing Room!" She informed him much to his surprise.
"Ohh man, alright! On my way!"
Author's Notes: And it begins again. Though I'm choosing to remove the whole JOE SWAT idea as when I really got to thinking about it, I don't think it necessarily made any sense to do.
