The world of pokémon is vast. Everything on planet Earth revolves around the spectacular creatures. Each with limitless potential. From simple wildlife to spectate in their natural habitats to partners humans battle with in hopes of becoming the strongest; the capabilities of such creatures go beyond humanity's wildest imagination.

For one lone male, it wouldn't be his love for both people and pokémon would come to rival that of the chosen one, but his power…

"Attention all passengers, we will be docking in Coral-Reef City." A female voice announces over the intercom. "I repeat, we will be docking in Coral-Reef City. Thank you for choosing the S.S. Anne and welcome to the Uni region."

Lowering their phone holding information on said region, a young male shifts his attention to the city's harbor coming into view. Standing at the front of the ship leaning against the railing, he takes in the nice breeze. With black scruffy hair and vermilion-colored eyes, he's wearing both a black shirt and jeans, a red jacket, and a combination of the red and black sneakers.

Looks like I finally made it. He grins. Relon Tarbin Lucinance is back home!

The Uni region; a continent where tag battling is the norm both inside and outside the duel circuit. Once a land ruled by two sovereigns, those rulers held both their people and pokémon close. Through that belief, many would challenge one but due to the nature of such beliefs, all would give in to the duality both ruler's worldview offered. As time went on, original rules and regulations altered, eventually merging with the society of today. The one kingdom became a nation governed by the people and pokémon equally eventually resulting in the Uni region of today. Focused not on singular battles but tag battles in honor of the original rulers. The gym leaders would sometimes have their own partner or be on their own. The champions, the strongest and most recognized trainers in all of Uni were one such example.

Hearing a notification in the form of a beeping sound, he refocuses on his phone. His excitement had nearly made him forget about the equal excitement that was on his phone.

On the screen lied his emulator where it showed his team. It was a rom hack his mother had created that easily surpassed the norm of any common game like Pokémon Yellow, Sapphire, White 2, etc. No level cap, a story that started in Kanto and carried the player through each region. Each pokémon captured held their own story whether good or bad.

It was the greatest gift to him on his tenth 10th birthday before his mother became bedridden. With it, he ventured across the world learning as much as he could about the creatures on Earth.

He'd caught practically every pokémon from every region. Some through the wild, fewer through trade, and the rare ones through sidequests. Despite that, the team he had now was by far his favorite. Hence why whenever he focused on the game's overall story, a specific group of pokémon were always put on his team.

Emboar and Gardevoir. He couldn't bring up one without the other. Both have been together even before his fateful encounter with the pair. Once just a small Tepig and skittish Ralts, their own pasts were the harshest of the group. The weakest of the once trio, Gardevoir had to hide behind Emboar and her sibling due to her inability to fight much less what little strength she possessed. Upon stumbling across the bunch surrounded by a horde of territorial pokemon, Tepig would suffer a fatal wound leaving him with a scar and one less eye while protecting her.

When it mattered most however when that same horde returned, Ralts would awaken her dormant power at the death of her brother. Ever since, both watched the other's backs as well as Relon's. Emboar's immeasurable strength tethered with Gardevoir's abundant psychic powers made most foes powerless against such odds.

Delcatty. Once an abandoned pokemon forced into a life of solitude following her single kitten's life being ripped away, Relon's own intrusion into mother feline's life renewed her lost sense of self as the familial warmth he and his partners exhibited washed over. Now, a core member and the "mother" of the group, none dare to anger her lest they feel the wrath of not just her claws, but the power a mother has when protecting her family.

Kingdra. The once weak and helpless horsea on the verge of death due to pollution by construction workers and poison types alike. Nursed to health, one eventual mistake in the form of Relon's character diving to help a drowning child led the sea creature to ascend to its final evolution through a dropped dragon scale rescuing the both of them and driving off a horde of pokémon. Where it prides itself in its speed and newfound draconic status, it puts the safety of Relon and all its family before anything else.

Flygon. Definitely a "unique" encounter while wandering the deserts of Hoenn. Simply a curious Trapinch, an unfortunate stumble into an underground cavern soon became an experience that would lead both it and Relon to work together to maneuver through the labyrinth. It wouldn't be until emerging back where a rescue team lied that he learned of the Trapinch's infamous reputation in troubling other wandering trainers and workers. Of course, Relon having gotten to know Trapinch's real nature offered a better home. One the creature would accept.

Milotic. Equivalent in beauty to Delcatty and Gardevoir, the serpent was once a feebas ridiculed by both humans and pokémon for its sheer appearance. Wallowing in self pity, its health took a nasty turn as it attempted to end itself for Relon to selflessly save it, instilling the belief that anyone can notice true beauty within. From that moment, Relon would beckon the beautiful fish towards its eventual evolution into new areas of awe and mesmerizing perfection.

Absol. The first wild encounter Relon ran across shortly starting their journey. As to why or how it had managed into Kanto, neither could ever discern but over the course of a few regions, their fateful encounters would occur closer and closer. Finally, upon a point in Hoenn, it finally revealed the doom that laid before Relon. Her futile attempts at ceasing the ill future, the lengths she went towards saving those that mattered, anything and everything that was within her realm of power. Though clearly at her breaking point, the combined force of Absol, Relon and his pokemon along with the power from greater forces shattered the once dark future that would settle within Hoenn and its neighboring regions as well as Absol's own. With the future saved, it went without saying that Absol's addition to the team would come to be the greatest decision ever.

Finally, Eve the Eevee. Given the date he originally obtained the game and his personal rule to nickname his starter, it was the most obvious choice. His original starter when he began both his game as well as his own regional tour in Kanto. Ever since stumbling upon her out at sea, the little brown fox has been at the heart of his team ever since. No matter the opponent, whether a wild mon, a trainer, a natural disaster, or even a legendary creature spoken of in legends; Eve has risen to the challenge time and time again leading Relon and her friends to victory.

It was a team that fit the needs of himself as a trainer, even if a virtual one.

Peering downwards at his phone, the single message from his conversation with his aunt can be shown.

Auntie Fern: Once you arrive, follow the instructions below and you'll be at my lab in no time~.

Shaking his head with a small chuckle, Relon focuses back ahead.

After eight long years, she's still the same. I swear, my aunt is something else.

Not far from Relon, a young woman through a few small crowds of people stands looking at the nearing city with a stoic face.

She is a slim young teen around Relon's height. She has long sangria-colored hair with shorter layers around her face and a fringe and bright red eyes. She wears a red and black outfit with yellow cuffs over black tights and leggings, white gloves, and red and yellow knee-high boots.

Closing her eyes, she thinks back to the conversation that took place prior to now.

"You believe I need a break?" She questions.

"Yes, dear. You've been running the Saffron Gym for six years now nonstop." Her mother says turning around with a pot of steaming food in hand.

"Listen, Sabrina." Her father calls. "After all the work you've been doing, you need a vacation."

"But we've gone on vacations before."

"Correction. We have but you haven't." He winks for the girl to arch an eyebrow. "You're old enough to be on your own and having your old folks cramping your style."

"But-"

"Sabrina, take the chance to relax. Your father is more than capable of running the gym."

Looking between both parents, she ponders the thought to sigh.

"Fine. What exactly do you two have in mind?"

To think they said to take my time and enjoy myself. It's not like I'll be gone for months. A week, maybe two at best.

Focusing on the nearing city, she crosses her arms.

But even I hadn't imagined they'd already bought me a ticket to a completely new region.

Turning around, she heads back inside towards her room. Giving one more glance to the city, Relon turns heading towards his room. Both young adults sharing one thought.

Hopefully nothing goes wrong while I'm here.

Outskirts of Coral-Reef City

Panting, a young woman carrying what seems like a brown fox runs through the forest. Hiding behind a tree, she catches her breath.

"Eev?"

"Sh!" She hushes peering back the way they came.

"Grrr!"

"Tch, nuisances!" She mutters, taking off again.

Running through the brush, she comes to a halt at a cliff overlooking the city and its harbor.

"Damn, a dead end." She curses, the sound of rustling gaining her attention behind her.

Out of the woods comes creatures seeming to resemble bipedal cats with their arms covered in fur. Behind them, men in all black covert uniforms.

"Alright, you both have had your fun. Now, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. But either way, you're going back to the facility. Time to give up, Absol, Eevee."

"You think we'll just go along with you pricks? Yeah right." The woman retorts, placing the eevee down. "You want us, you're going to have to beat the hell out of me!" She glares, a scythe-like tail, and a crescent-shaped horn appearing from her rear and head as her teeth become fangs.

Dressed in only a white gown, the woman has red eyes with her hair splitting between a denim-color ending at her chin and pure white ending below her neck no longer covering her other eye with a denim-colored oval on her forehead.

Within seconds, a glowing sphere appears around the woman for it to burst open revealing a quadrupedal creature with a tuff of fur retaining similar features as the woman.

"Absol!" The creature snarls, both sides charging.

S.S. Anne

Now with his backpack, Relon looks at his phone as he exits off the ship's ramp.

Exit the harbor and keep straight. I should see the Pokémon Center. From there, turn right and her lab is a straight shot. Auntie mentioned the road leading directly to her lab with one side of it below a cliff of the forest and the other showing a view of the ocean.

Nodding to himself, he exits the harbor. Glancing around, Sabrina takes in the harbor's lively market. Many of the stalls grabbing many tourists' attention as they buy their goods.

So this is the Uni region. Looking back ahead, Sabrina tightens the straps on her backpack as she heads to the Pokémon Center. I need to check in at the Pokémon Center. With that thought, she departs.

Reaching the center, Relon passes it to take a right at the corner following the road. Looking around, he takes in the people and Pokémon. A family of three walking with a floating drifloon carrying their daughter. A bakery with a charmander heating up what is most likely bread in the oven. Even Officer Jenny patrolling the streets with her arcanine by her side.

"It sure is lively here." Relon notes focusing on a long stretch of road with a building far off in the distance. "That must be auntie's lab." He begins walking forward taking in the scenery. "There's the cliff that leads into the forest. Auntie wasn't joking about it being so high up. It's like 15 feet tall." Turning around, he takes note of the sea. "And there's the shore where the famous coral reef housing a huge number of corsola is."

Entering the Pokémon Center, Sabrina notes the familiar structure before walking over to the counter where Nurse Joy awaits with a smile.

"Hello, and welcome to Coral-Reef City's Pokémon Center. How can I help you?"

"I'd like a room for two weeks please."

"Certainly. Give me just a moment." Nurse Joy leaves momentarily, returning with a key. "Here you go. Your room is on the third floor." She extends the item for Sabrina to take.

"Thank you." With that, Sabrina heads over to the elevator and before long, she's in front of her room.

Inserting the key, she turns until she hears a clicking sound. Turning the knob and pushing forward, the door opens revealing the interior. Seeing the two bunk beds, Sabrina loosens her arms allowing her backpack to slide down. Before it can make a thud, it stops. Hovering just above the ground, she gives a small flick of her finger before her bag floats onto the bottom bed.

Taking a seat at the edge.

"She didn't have to give me one with so many beds. Oh well, I should let her out now that I'm off the ship." Reaching for her waist, she grabs her only pokéball.

Motioning it away beside her, she clicks the button for the spherical object to open. A light following as a creature now sits on the bed looking around. It resembles a pink cat with a red gem on its forehead an its tail splitting into two tips at the end.

"Espe?"

"We made it to the Uni region and I just checked in at the Pokémon Center." Sabrina explains rubbing Espeon's head which the feline purrs in delight. "Would you like you go sightseeing?"

"Espeon, espe!" Smiling, the two depart.

Stepping outside, Sabrina looks around.

"Where should we go first though...?"

"Espeon." Looking to her friend, Espeon motions in the direction of a road with a cliff on one side and the shore on the other. "Very well. Let's go."

With Relon, he continues his trek down the sidewalk.

"Man, auntie's lab is further from Coral-Reef City than I thought." Just then, rustling comes from the cliff. "Huh?"

Time seems to slow down at that moment. Halting, all he sees is a white Pokémon come out of the forest crashing on the road before him.

"What the?!"

"Eevee!" Turning his attention back to the cliff, an eevee jumps from the cliff running to the injured Pokémon. "Eev, eevee!" It cries out in worry.

Focusing more on the Pokémon, Relon can tell one thing.

"It's injured! Badly!" He hurries over kneeling down looking over the Pokémon.

The eevee notices him for it to jump running in front defensively.

"W-Whoa! I'm just here to help Absol, I swear! Huh?" More rustling sounds from the cliff gaining both of their attention as their chasers appear followed by their owners standing up on the cliff with crossed arms.

"Heh, looks like that last attack did it." The first grunt grins.

"Did you really think you could beat us? Hm?" The second gloats to take sight of Relon. "Hey! Get the hell out of here, kid. This doesn't involve you."

Looking at the men, Relon doesn't respond.

Continuing her sightseeing, Sabrina takes in the shore breeze.

"Are you the ones that hurt this Pokémon?"

"Espe?" Both hearing those words look ahead.

In doing so, she takes sight of a teen around her age crouched down with an eevee and another Pokémon hidden in front of the boy.

"Heh, yeah, what of it?" At his answer, both men narrow their eyes and Sabrina's own widen in disbelief.

Standing in front of Absol and Eevee with his arms raised to the side glaring back stands Relon.

"I won't let you lay another hand on Absol!" He proclaims.

What is he- Don't tell me he doesn't have a Pokémon! Sabrina thinks, glancing at the men standing over the cliff. Neither of them have noticed us yet.

"Huh, so you wanna get hurt too, huh?" The first grunt laughs.

"Considering you didn't toss out your Pokémon, I bet you're not even a trainer, are you?" The second grunt grins.

"Even if I'm not, I refuse to sit by and let you further harm an innocent Pokémon!"

"So be it! Mienshao, take out the trash!" Obeying, both prepare to lunge before they raise their heads to look back in the direction of the city. "What's-" Both men widen as a dark orb is shot at the cliff breaking their foothold making the two men fall onto the street.

"Argh! What the hell?!" The first groans wincing as all eyes look to spot Sabrina and Espeon walking their way.

A girl? Relon thinks, lowering his arms slowly as she stops next to him.

"Great, more company! Mienshao, you take care of the target and you deal with that other brat!" Obeying, both Pokémon take sight of their targets.

"Eevee!" The Pokémon barks leaving Absol and running in front of Relon to stand next to Espeon.

"Huh, Eevee?"

"Ab...sol." The Pokémon barely lets out trying to get up to no avail.

"Absol, you shouldn't move! You're hurt!"

"Stay down, leave this to me." Sabrina says to the Absol.

Who is she? She looks familiar...

"If you're not careful, you'll be the one hurt!" The first man snaps at the boy. "Alright little eevee, you've caused us a lot of trouble. Time for you and that absol to go back."

"Eevee!" The small fox barks back before looking over its shoulder at Relon.

Looking at its fierce eyes, something connects.

"Do you... want to fight together?"

"Eevee!" It answers, turning back towards the Mienshao.

"... Alright. Let's do it, Eevee!" Relon says clenching a fist.

"Are you sure?" Sabrina asks, eyeing the boy.

"Yeah. Time to put all my years of studying to good use."

"So a tag battle, huh? Figures we have to settle things the Uni region way." The first says.

"Let's just hurry this up!"

"Here they come!" Sabrina warns, the three readying themselves.

"Mienshao, go! Use Brick Break!" Obeying, both charge forward.

"Eevee/Espeon, dodge!" Complying, both slide to a halt.

"Espeon, psyshock." Its eyes glow for a wave of psychic energy to orbit the two Pokémon before crashing into the fighting types resulting in a small purple explosion.

"Eevee, use-" Relon stops as a glowing sphere covers the eevee. "What the, is it evolving?"

"Damn, things just got more difficult." The second grunt mutters.

As the light ceases, no longer stands an Eevee, but now a slightly bigger creature now red with a puffy tuft of fur around its neck and tail.

"It changed to a flareon?!" Relon, says in disbelief. Sabrina equally as stunned.

"Flare!" It shouts, opening its mouth firing a barrage of cinders sending one Mienshao back skidding on the ground.

"Espeon, Shadow Ball." Firing a dark orb, it hits the other Mienshao, sending it to the ground with the other before their owners.

"Whoa..." Relon awes. "Flareon, are you able to transform into your eeveelutions?"

"Flare!" It nods happily before it and Espeon regroup.

"I've never heard of an Eevee able to do such a thing." Sabrina mutters.

"Neither have I but we can ask questions for later!" Relon dismisses the grunts, returning their Mienshao.

"Tch! Damn it!"

"Fine, I didn't want to do this but choices be damned!" The second grunt says tossing another pokéball.

Materializing is a bipedal Pokémon resembling a humanoid panda bear.

"A Pangoro?"

"So, they want to nullify our psychic attacks..."

"Pangoro, use Hammer Arm!"

Roaring, the Pokémon lunges as the two eeveelutions jump away for the bear to slam its fist causing a small tremor.

"Flareon, use Ember!"

"Espeon, use Signal Beam!"

Firing their attacks, Pangoro bats both away with ease to charge, knocking Espeon and Flareon away.

"Espeon/Flareon!" They call in worry.

"Use Stone Edge!"

Slamming its paws to the ground, pillars of stones erupt towards.

"Flareon, transform into Vaporeon and use Water Gun!"

Obeying, a sphere of light orbits Flareon before an blue aquatic creature takes its place firing a jet of water, both attacks canceling out.

Impressive. Sabrina thinks, glancing at Relon before going back to their fight.

"Vaporen, use Water Gun once more!"

"Pangoro, use Dark Pulse!"

Releasing another jet of water, the bear draws its hands together before firing rings of darkness quickly overpowering the water attack.

"Not good!"

"Espeon, assist Vaporeon with Signal Beam."

Firing a colorful beam next to the water, both attacks combine slowly pushing through to collide with Pangoro sliding the Pokémon back.

"If our attacks aren't strong enough alone, then we'll simply combine them." Sabrina notes remaining focused on the battle.

"Yeah, you got it!"

"This is going on forever, Pangoro, finish this already with Darkest Lariat!"

"Espeon, Signal Beam!"

Firing a colorful beam, the attack doesn't stop the spinning bear.

"Dodge, quickly!" Jumping away, so too does Pangoro slamming into Espeon and knocking it to the ground.

"Espeon!"

"One down, now grab that puny Vaporeon!"

Landing with a mighty thud, Pangoro turns towards the water type as with each step, it hulks forward. Trembling, the blue mammal reverts to normal stepping back. Roaring, Eevee closes its eyes awaiting the inevitable.

"Eevee, dodge backwards!"

Snapping its eyes open, it looks up to take sight of Pangoro bringing down its massive arms. Leaping away, it dodges the fatal blow. Looking to where the voice came from, its eyes land on Relon.

"Don't be scared! Remember, we're fighting for Absol's sake as a team!" He gives a confident smile, Eeveeeyes seeming to gleam in understanding.

"Eevee!" It shouts with renewed vigor.

"Alright, let's do this! Transform into Sylveon!"

Nodding, it does so.

"Don't think we'll just let you! Pangoro, Hammer Arm!"

Espeon, use Psychic on the rubble.

Doing so, hundreds of pebbles from the effects of hammer Arm swarm the bear Pokémon pelting it.

"What?!" He looks to see Espeon still standing.

"It would be wise to not underestimate me or my Pokémon."

"But you didn't give a command!"

With a bright light, no longer stands the brown canine but now a colorful creature with ribbons.

"Sylveon, use Disarming Voice!"

Crying its name with emotions, the sound wave reaches Pangoro to which the beast covers its ears in pain.

"Pangoro, shake that off! Dark Pulse!"

Espeon!

"Espe!" With its eyes glowing, the pelting rocks bombardment increases.

"Grrr...!"

"What say we finish this?" Relon looks at Sabrina.

"Let's."

"Sylveon, Fairy Wind!" Relon orders with a gesture of his hand.

"Espeon, use Psychic to increase its power!" Doing so, both release their attacks.

Firing a gust filled with sparkles, its speed increases as it rushes towards the stumbling bear. Widening it eyes at the incoming attack, its helpless as Pangoro is shot off its feet towards the two grunts who all crash into the cliff wall.

"Looks like that's the end of that." Sabrina notes.

"Yeah..." Relon mutters panting to look to a trembling hand.

Gripping it with his other, a small smile makes its way for a prideful grin to take over as he looks ahead.

"We did it!"

My first Pokémon battle and I came out on top! Looking to Sylveon, his eyes shift to the girl next to him. And it's thanks to Sylveon, Espeon, and her.
