A Blooming Future
15 years had passed since that day.
At 29 years old, Danny Fenton, semi-retired astronaut, still a secret superhero, was strolling towards the elementary school, waiting outside with many others.
As he waited, he looked at his phone for the time.
We'll be seeing her soon… Danny thought with a smile as he heard the bell ring.
He saw many children pass by, reuniting with their parents. He didn't recognize said parents, figuring they were people who weren't from Amity Park.
Many things had passed since that day 15 years ago, people coming and going. He recalled Sam moving out of her parents' house and having been out of their lives for 5 years before returning with a husband. Tucker going to college, trying to commit to his new girlfriend, turning his life around and other things. His parents learning who he is during the Disasteroid incident, accepting him, then accepting a little girl made from his DNA as a new daughter.
5 years ago, he himself was blessed with another new addition to his family.
"Dad!" A small boy called out.
A small boy that looked like him, yet had eyes in the same shape as his mother, and the same shade of red hair as well. A boy whose hair was a match for both his parents, bangs like his father, but the top shaped like his mother. He wore the same color jeans and brand of shoes, but a plain light-blue shirt, matching the color of his mother's outfits in her base fairy form.
"Jasper…" Danny greeted happily with a smile as the boy hugging his father's leg. "How was school?"
"Not bad. I got homework but I promise to finish before we go see Mom…" Jasper said as pointed to his backpack that had his father's DP symbol on it.
"Alright then." Danny took a knee. "Ready to ride your noble steed, little prince?"
"Dad… you're not a noble steed. You're practically a king." Jasper pointed out with a smile.
"King consort, actually." Danny corrected him. "No real authority, but the only perk I get is a wonderful son with the woman I love, and that's more than enough for me. So, ready?"
Jasper hopped onto his father's back.
"Onward!" The small boy said.
With a small laugh, Danny stood up and carried his son home.
"Oh? A son? And you named him Jasper? I see…" FP11 said with a nod.
"Jasper?" BCFW cocked his head to the side, squinting his eyes. "Any particular reason you choose Jasper or is this because you licked the Infinity Gems? It's one letter away from Casper."
"I'd have named him James or something…" PFN said.
"Cute kid…" 61394 took some Mike & Ikes and ate them.
"So… no more licking magic rocks? Because that sucks…" Luiz4200 said.
"Yeah… I put them away." NeoMark said.
"Good, because I am regretting letting you do this since you're clearly going insane." FP11 muttered. "Now, I get that Jasper is supposed to be their son, but are Danny and Bloom still together?"
"Yup. Just watch." NeoMark said.
"Why Jasper? Why not Danny Junior, it's how they usually name kids in this franchise?" 61394 asks.
"Because the red hair and his dad's eye color make him almost look like a guy version of Jazz… so Danny picked something sounding like Jasmine, so Jasper." NeoMark said.
"Oh...Yeah, I'm gonna agree to disagree on the name here, but you do you." BCFW said.
"Okay then… on with the father son time." 61394 sat back.
"So… let's see the rest." NeoMark said.
Danny lived not far from the school, a humble one-story home in the suburbs.
There, he made sure no one was looking before he phased through the door with his son.
"You're doing a good job not telling people your daddy's a superhero." Danny said as he let Jasper down.
"Of course, Dad." Jasper chuckled. "Mom wouldn't let me have dessert if I did that."
Danny laughed as the sound of large footsteps approached. Looking up, he saw who he trusted with his home and who was in it.
"Frostbite? How's my girl?" He asks with a smile before Frostbite shushes him.
"She sleeps peacefully, Great One. Lady Aurora Daphne Fenton is resting like an angel in her room." Frostbite said with a big smile.
"Thanks for helping me out, Frostbite." Danny said.
"Thanks, Uncle Frostbite." Jasper said in a chipper way to his honorary uncle.
"I am honored to serve the children of the Great One and the Queen of Domino." Frostbite bowed graciously. "Now… I must be off. Do say hello to your wife for me."
"Of course." Danny said as he waved to his old friend. "Take care, Frostbite."
"Bye, Uncle Frostbite." Jasper said happily as the yeti ghost phased through the ceiling and took off.
With that, Danny shook his head with a smile.
"So… make sure all your homework is done before we go see your mom at work. It's gonna be a long weekend." Danny told his son.
"Got it." Jasper nodded before he went to do so.
Later
Danny was in the middle of making dinner, having already placed a lasagna in the oven.
"Okay...another 30 minutes and it should be good..." Danny said.
Once done, he went to the nursery to go check on his baby daughter.
As soon as he stepped into the nursery, he spotted his precious daughter sleeping peacefully in her crib.
It was a one year old baby girl who looked almost identical to his wife Bloom, however, she had Danny's black hair and complexion.
"There's my little princess..." He whispered happily as he went back to making dinner.
He missed his wife, but took a bit of relief at how quiet the house was.
Maintaining a secret identity always has its advantages. Danny thought as he prepared the breadsticks.
"Wait… since this is 2018-2019, before A Glitch in Time, wouldn't he still have his identity exposed? Because of the stupidly named space rock, I figured he'd be a publicly known superhero since that's what most were doing at the time." 61394 said as he threw a dart at a picture of the disasteroid with LAME written over it.
"True… but I liked it better when it was only a select few since, looking back, it didn't outright say he revealed his secret to the whole world, just those at the North Pole. I know it's a stretch, but I like to think only those people found out and kept their mouths shut out of gratitude. It's what I did in my Vs The Paranormal series. I know like only a small few authors tried that idea and I like that one more." NeoMark said. "That and… much as I love the first Iron Man, it did start the whole thing of superheroes not having secret identities in the MCU and I kind of… hate that. I like when they have secret identities. It's not just to protect their loved ones, it's about having some privacy and a place to get away from it all. Danny definitely is the kind of person who deserves privacy more than celebrity status."
"See? Guys like Iron Man can get away with it since they're the people who should be taxed and they got the money to afford private locations… but not someone like a 14 year old whose parents probably do more damage than ghosts." Deadpool said.
"Ok." 61394 stuffed some pizza in his mouth.
"Good point. Granted, having a partially secret identity still has its drawbacks." BCFW adjusted his glasses.
"Well, that makes sense." PFN said, eating some shrimp.
"At the very least the people of Amity Park must know, since I don't see how else his friend Tucker would become Mayor." Luiz4200 said.
"I suppose that makes sense. Privacy is important..." FP11 said.
"Also… does anyone want pupusas?" NeoMark asks.
"It's a Salvadorian food. Guess who likes them?" Deadpool asks. "I'll give you a hint… it's the guy typing this line."
"Huh, neat. I'll try." 61394 took a bite. "Beans and cheese… tasty."
"Okay… moving on." FP11 said, wanting to get back to the story. "So, is he gonna keep a secret identity in all of them? Or is this chapter just unique?"
"Most likely keeping it. Wasn't a fan of the reveal at the end being worldwide, so that's how it's going in this take." NeoMark said.
Once dinner was finished, Danny cleaned the dishes.
"So, Jasper? Finished your homework?" Danny asks.
"Almost, Dad. I just gotta finish my math homework. Can't I do that when we see Mom?" Jasper asks.
"Jasper…" Danny crossed his arms and shook his head disapprovingly.
"Aw, come on, Dad…" Jasper whined, already tired of his homework.
"You know the rules. Finish, then we'll go." Danny said.
"It's just one question… I don't see what the big deal is. Can't I do it later?" Jasper asked again..
"I'm not letting my son be a C student like I was." Danny said in a strict tone..
"You still got a job as an astronaut for 3 years and you're an astronomy teacher." Jasper pointed out.
"And I want you to struggle less, now go." Danny pointed to where his son's bedroom was.
"Fine…" Jasper grumbled as he got up and headed to finish his homework.
Once gone, Danny shook his head.
"He's got his mother's hair and stubbornness… Or maybe it's my stubbornness mixed with hers?" He went to his daughter and cleaned her face free of food. "What do you think, Aurora?"
His daughter responded with intelligible sounds that a child her age would make. This brought a laugh from Danny.
"Okay… I answered it!" Jasper called out.
"Is it the right one?" Danny questioned.
"I'm kinda sure!" Jasper responded.
"How sure? Scale of 1-10?" Danny asks.
"I guess… 8?" Jasper responded with uncertainty.
"Good enough. Get packing." Danny said.
"WAY ahead of you!" Jasper came in with his luggage and backpack ready.
"Okay. Let's get the portal ready." Danny said as he carried Aurora in his arms to the living room.
There, their luggage was all ready.
"I can't wait to see Mom! How long has it been?" Jasper asks eagerly.
"2 weeks. Your aunt Daphne is helping her speed her duties up… but it's taken this long to finish it. Darn Trix." Danny said, knowing Icy was still as petty as ever.
"The scary pretty ladies or the cereal?" Jasper asks.
"... yes, son. Your mom is protecting her birth dimension from fruit flavored cereal." Danny rolled his eyes with a smile. "So… hold your sister?" Danny knelt down a bit.
"Okay." Jasper took Aurora in his hands before seeing saliva coming out of her mouth, making him hold her back a bit. "Ugh! Dad! She's drooling again!"
"You'll have to deal with it, Son. Now…" Danny held out a device in his hand. "Let's see…" He pushed buttons on it. "I saved the coordinates and… presto!" He fired the device, creating a portal to Domino. "Let's visit Mom at work…"
"So, in the original, the history of what happened prior to what we see was told in narration. So, I figure I could just give the deets here. Any questions on what happened before Danny married Bloom and had two kids?" NeoMark asks.
"I guess what happened when Danny eventually met Sky?" 61394 asks. "It's been a long time since I watched Winx Club, but I remember Skye being a decent guy despite the weird prince and the pauper plot line and the fiancé who may or may not have mind controlled him."
"You don't remember?" Wade asks
"It's been a long time…" 61394 said.
"You know the episodes are on the internet, right?" BCFW asked, jolting up straight. "The series. Sky was a prince who was engaged to another, before he basically cheated on his fiancé for Bloom. Though, the series overlooks that detail. A lot of fans did not like that."
"Okay, but do you have any questions regarding Danny and Bloom's relationship from how it started to the here and now?" NeoMark asks.
"Not really. I can guesstimate what happened." BCF says.
"So does Icy have a thing for Danny?" PFN asks.
"I guess the biggest question I have is what happened to Sky and the rest of the Winx?" FP11 asks.
"That and how come only now I'm realizing both Danny and Bloom have enemies compared to cereal? What's next? Comparing Youngblood to Cap'n Crunch?" Luiz4200 asked as all eyes were on him. "Jokes aside, yes, I want to know what happened to them."
"Well… here's the gist of it. Yes, Danny does meet Sky. Sky felt rather… disappointed Bloom decided to date a boy much younger than him. There was a bit of friction, even after Danny revealed his powers to Sky and the rest of the Winx. However, in the end, Danny truly won Bloom's heart after he decided to bury the hatchet with Sky. Sky did challenge Danny to a duel and, despite his better experience, our ghost boy won and earned his respect."
"Go Danny." 61394 said.
"As for the rest of the Winx, I can see Musa crushing on him. Anyway, to answer another question… as Danny grows older, I can see Icy finding him attractive. Big shock, he's not interested in evil girls. I can see a sort of Poison Ivy kind of "be my king or die" kind of thing she could pull off." Danny said.
"I can't say I'd be surprised at that, yet I can't help feeling there could be more nuance." BCFW scratched his chin as he spoke. "Or at least similar interests from Stormy and Darcy, given how Danny's ghostly powers would have some appeal to their aesthetics."
"And Diaspro? What happened to her?" FP11 asks.
"Ah… well, she doesn't marry Sky. Even though he did cheat on her and Bloom… she did do less than nice things and it took a while for them to forgive her… despite trying murder Bloom a few times. I'd say… she'd probably take offense to Bloom giving up Sky for Danny and still try to spite her for it, maybe try to steal Danny. I still don't see her as who Sky ends up with. As for who… well… I'll leave that up to the readers because sometimes it's better to leave it up to their imagination." NeoMark said.
"And you're too lazy to come up with an idea who it is…" Deadpool ribbed him.
"Well… that too, but I'm trying to be professional about it." NeoMark shrugged.
"Pardon for butting in, but I agree with NeoMark. About Diaspro not being with Sky. He did cheat on her, but I wouldn't say that she would turn evil." BCFW chimed in.
"So what about superhero stuff? What kind of bad guys did Danny and Bloom take on together?" 61394 asked.
"Basically… everything in Danny Phantom and Winx Club… maybe villains from other works. Again, feel free to use your imagination." NeoMark said.
"... or you can someday make a sequel to this like FP11 did with Kara for the original, and you don't wanna give away any potential ideas." Deadpool said.
"So yeah… that's about it. Everyone ready for more?" NeoMark asks.
Everyone nodded.
"I certainly am." Luiz4200 said.
"Yeah, I'm ready to continue." PFN said.
"Alright… I can't wait to see what's next." FP11 said.
In the kingdom of Domino
Queen Bloom stood up, stretching her back from sitting on the throne for so long.
"Is that the last of it?" She asks her sister as they were the only ones in the throne room.
"Looks to be. That's the last thing we had to go over. Sorry you had to be here longer than usual… those pesky Trixes." Daphne, her elder sister, said to her. "But… you're the one who has to be queen. Our parents chose you, since I turned them down to be support. That and you had the superhero as a husband and father to your kids."
"I know… but I'd rather be with my husband at home." Bloom miserably said, missing them and her simpler house.
"Why don't you have him and your children live here? Jasper is your first heir to the throne, after all." Daphne pointed out.
"Because Danny and I agreed they should be allowed to live normal lives like I did before learning where I came from. Plus, he's clearly not one for a royal lifestyle." Bloom explained, since while her husband had the title of king consort, he much preferred living a simple life in Amity Park with their family.
"I can see that. Your adoptive parents certainly help to spoil them whenever you have to "travel for work" every month." Daphne said with a giggle
"Yeah… Jasper really seems to love having three sets of grandparents." Bloom smiled, since the grandparents seem to have a habit of competing with each other over how much they spoil her son.
"Mom!" She heard his voice coming from down the hall.
"Speaking of." Daphne said with a smile as she saw her brother-in-law, her niece and nephew enter.
Bloom beamed with joy as she walked towards them with arms wide.
"Come here, Jasper…" She said as she took a knee and hugged her son once he made it.
"And don't forget this little one." Danny said, holding Aurora in his arms.
Giggling, Bloom stood up and held her daughter before kissing Danny on the cheek.
"I hope these two weren't a huge hassle…" Bloom said to her husband.
"Nah. Your parents, the Earth ones, visited last week. They were a big help." Danny explained as he held their baby daughter in his arms for Bloom to look her in the eye.
"Really? Bloom asks as she looks at her baby daughter. "Were Papa Mike and Mama Vanessa fun to be with?" She asks in a baby voice as Aurora giggled.
Daphne giggled at seeing her younger sister be so cute with her youngest child.
"She's the spitting image of you at that age… just not in hair color." She couldn't help but comment.
"I can vouch for that." A familiar woman's voice was heard.
In came Bloom's birth parents, the former King Oritel and Queen Marion. Though retired, the two remain as overseers and essentially consultants for Bloom as she was their chosen successor.
"Grandpa! Grandma!" Jasper went, running to them to get a hug from his biological maternal grandparents.
"Hello, my little prince…" Marion said to her grandson. "So, have you decided what you want for your birthday? A unicorn? Maybe a royal chariot of your own?"
"Mother… I told you. Let's not spoil them too much." Bloom chastised
"Apologies. Being gone for so long, I didn't think I'd ever see my girls again, much less have grandchildren." Marion said.
Danny presented himself to them with a friendly smile.
"So, Oritel and Marion? How's retirement goin' for ya?" He casually asked his in-laws.
Marion was about to answer, only for her husband to raise a hand and walk towards him, seemingly disapproving.
"Customarily…" The former king Oritel said with a stern voice. "Outsiders must bow and show proper decorum before greeting us, and use our royal titles… And speaking so casually to us is frowned upon and a sign of disrespect."
As he approached, Danny felt a cold shiver down his spine.
"Oh… uh…" Danny nervously looked away, fearing he was in trouble.
The former king smiled.
"But you're the exception…" He said before patting Danny on the back and laughing at how terrified his son-in-law looked.
Bloom and Daphne giggled at this as Danny relaxed.
"He gets him every time…" Daphne whispered.
"So… how is my grandson's studies?" Oritel asks.
"Oh… he's doing way better at math than I was. As and Bs." Danny said.
"From what Michael and Vanessa informed me… Bloom had trouble with subjects like Literature herself. A relief that the apple fell just far enough from the tree." Marion said with a teasing laugh.
"Mother…" Bloom muttered.
"Well… with this latest issue taken care of, Icy and her group are detained, we can relax. Please thank Mr. Tennyson and his wife, for they introduced us to this Null Void, so they will be sent there right away." Daphne said.
"Does that mean Mom can come home with us?" Jasper asks eagerly.
"It does. Provided, I'd love to spend some time with my grandchildren, and hear exploits of my son-in-law's adventures." Former king Oritel said with a hearty laugh.
"Fine by me." Danny agreed. "I got time off work anyway."
"What about Amity Park?" Bloom asks, knowing his other duties.
"Danielle promised to keep an eye out. She might not work with me as my partner in fighting ghosts anymore, but she's always eager to kick butt whenever I need help to." Danny explained to his wife.
"She always enjoys being your sidekick, even with a family of her own, huh?" Bloom asks.
"Helps that she and Dad spend a lot of time together." Danny said with a chuckle.
"Can I be your sidekick someday, Dad?" Jasper asked eagerly.
"I thought you wanted to be a Specialist?" Bloom questioned playfully as she ruffled her son's hair.
"I can be both!" Jasper exclaimed, earning laughs from everyone.
"Reach 14, then we'll talk, Son." Danny said with a chuckle as he hugged his son.
2 hours later
Bloom was in her fairy form as she held her daughter in her arms. Aurora giggled as her mother flew her a few feet into the air, letting her see all of Domino.
"Look at this, my little Aurora… when you're old enough, you can either live here or back on Earth. Either way… you and your brother get the best of both worlds…" She said in a loving way, while her child giggled.
Danny morphed and flew up to join her.
"Sorry but I need to change her diaper before we send her to bed." Danny said, and his wife nodded.
"Ah. Mind if I help? I figure you're tired of the smell, huh?" Bloom asks with a knowing smile.
"Yes please. Last week, I helped the Grossologists with a giant stinkbug that smelled like a landfill. I'm almost relieved I still have a sense of smell after all those diaper changes." Danny said with a shudder.
Bloom laughed a bit as they descended slowly.
There, Jasper was with his grandparents, who continued to dote on him and play with him.
"If you'd like…" Oritel said in a jolly way. "We can give you a Mini Wind Rider once you're 13. Custom for you."
"Aren't those for Specialists?" Jasper asks, getting more and more eager at this idea.
"If you become one, you can use a standard one." Marion pointed out.
"Awesome!" Jasper cheered, and even jumped up a bit.
"Although…" Oritel scratched his chin. "That depends if you need one, little prince."
"What do you mean?" Jasper asks.
"Well… you're a boy, so you can't use fairy power like your mother. But, surely, you have your father's power?" Oritel pointed out.
Jasper morphed from excited to self-conscious as he was reminded of his issue regarding powers.
"I… guess we won't know yet…" He rubbed his arm nervously while looking away.
Danny and Bloom shared a knowing look. They wondered if Jasper would inherit any of their powers, as Danny was a human with powers infused into him through science, while Bloom was a fairy who drew from a powerful dragon of fire for her power. They feared their unique origins for their abilities might conflict and render him unable to use any power.
"So… anyway…" Danny then cleared his throat. "I think it's time to get these kids to bed."
"Yes, I agree." Bloom said with a nod.
"Yes. Very good." Oritel agreed. "Tomorrow, we can continue...maybe enjoy a nice breakfast together in the garden and then see where to go from there..."
"And… there's a lovely café with cake you'll like." Marion added to further raise her grandson's spirits.
"Alright!" Jasper said with a smile, his mood lifted.
Bloom and Danny smiled in relief.
Later
Bloom was in the bedroom her son would be sleeping in as he was in bed.
"...and then the hero from Earth and the princess of Domino wedded and lived happily ever after…" Bloom finished as she closed the book.
"Wow…" Jasper, in his bed, yawned. "They turned you and Dad's meeting into a storybook…"
"Yeah. Your father did help in many ways no one thought possible." Bloom said as she tucked her son in.
"Mom…?" Jasper asks.
"Yes?" Bloom asked her son.
"Do you think… I'll ever have powers like you two?" He had a face of worry and self-doubt, fearing he would be unable to fly or do good like his parents.
Bloom knew he had his fears. Still, he gave him a warm smile as she patted his head.
"Don't forget, your father wasn't born with his powers, and mine never really showed up until I was 16." She pointed out, hoping this would make her son feel better.
"Yeah, but you didn't even know you had them." Jasper pointed out.
"True. But still… even if you don't… that doesn't mean you can't do good. You can still be a Specialist, and someday, you'll be king of Domino. But only after you're ready..." Bloom explained "And promise me you'll do good just as we do…"
"I promise, Mom." Jasper said with a sweet little smile on his face.
Bloom happily pecked her son's forehead.
"Jasper Michael Fenton… you're a good boy." She got up. "Sleep tight, my little prince…"
"Night, Mom…" Jasper went.
Bloom turned his lights off as she closed the door. Jasper soon fell asleep. And right before his eyes closed, they briefly flashed green.
Bloom, meanwhile, went to the nursery and kissed her one-year old daughter on the head.
"Good night, my little Aurora…" She said before reaching the room she and Danny shared on Domino.
"You really miss seeing their little faces before bed, huh?" Danny asks as he was reading a book.
"I do. They both look so cute." Bloom smiled happily. "I'm so looking forward to going home. I haven't been this excited since you took me to the prom in high school."
"I'm pretty sure more important things have happened since, like having kids." Danny said in a joking manner.
"True…" Bloom giggled as she got in bed next to him.
"Well… soon as we're back home, I'll need your help with taking Jasper to and from school and to his soccer games. I don't want to rely on Frostbite so much, no matter how much he wants to help or the kids like him." Danny explained to his wife.
"After dealing with Icy, a few trolls, and some of Valtor's followers, dealing with scraped child knees and dirty diapers feels like paradise." Bloom sighed, her head whipping back as she couldn't wait to return to Amity Park.
"I know Jazz and Danielle can't wait for their favorite in-law to come home. By the way, my folks were hoping you'd be in town for the barbeque. You can invite your friends from the Winx Club, if you'd like." Danny encourages her.
"As long as Tucker's still married, he tried to hit on Stella and Flora when he had that time of uncertainty with his chosen girl." Bloom recalled that awkward month. "I don't think I've ever seen anyone get under their skin so easily."
"Yeah, don't worry… he's met his love so he's dropped that harder that him dropping being mayor." Danny reassured her.
"Like him dropping-"
"Yeah… let's not remind him of that." Danny laughed as he put his book back.
"Okay…" Bloom giggled.
As they turned off the lights, Danny and Bloom kissed.
Both had been waiting for such a long time to be together and to do this again. Between dangers in Domino and on Earth, getting to be with the one they love most made it all worth it.
The mouths parted as they looked into each other's eyes.
"I love you…" Danny whispered to her.
"And I love you too…" Bloom whispered back with a bright smile on her face.
They retired for the night, looking forward to their weekend before going home. Both unaware that, by the end of this, Jasper will be bringing something home with him.
"Ah… his powers are finally activating." Deadpool said with a nod.
"That's right. An idea I had gotten from one suggestion is that maybe Danny and Bloom's powers would result in a child without powers… but I figure it's more like weakened versions that Jasper will adapt or grow as he gets bigger. So, what did you all think?" NeoMark asks.
"It was really cute." PFN said.
"Stuff like this is why I love this franchise here. Danny gets a happy ending with his friends, his family, wife and kids" 61394 said. "Kind of a rare thing on this site."
"Pretty nice. I admit I have questions about the rules of fairies, but that doesn't matter." BCFW gave a thumbs up. "Nice to see their happy ending."
"I think Aurora was named after Disney's Sleeping Beauty. Both girls are Princesses who grew up as normal girls." Luiz4200 answers.
"I gotta say, this chapter was something else. Danny and Bloom look so happy together..."FP11 said while smiling.
"Excellent… now for the alternate futures. Starting with second place…" NeoMark said as he sat back.
A special thanks to all guest authors.
