Lorelai heard her front door open and Babette appeared "Lorelai, sugar are you ok? We heard arguing and saw Christopher leave so we wanted to come and see if you're ok, why are you sitting down there?",
"I'm ok, I just fell but I need to get to the diner. I think Chris is going to hurt Luke". Lorelai managed to stand up but was in agony.
"Morey and I will come with you, let's go".
When they got near to the Diner they could hear yelling and banging, when they turned the corner they saw Christopher punching Luke and Luke punching him back. Despite the pain in her back Lorelai ran over to them both and got in the middle. She begged Christopher to stop but he was like a man possessed and pushed Lorelai out of the way to get to Luke, he punched Luke square in the face, Luke stumbled backwards before regaining the strength to pound on Christopher. At this time a crowd had gathered around the two men, Lorelai knew speaking to Christopher was not going to solve anything so she begged Luke to walk away, he wasn't paying any attention to her. Again she stepped inbetween them, put her hand on Luke's chest and begged him again to stop this. Luke looked at Lorelai, sighed and walked away from Christopher. Lorelai took one look at Christopher, shook her head and followed Luke into the diner.
"Luke, Luke are you ok? I'm so so sorry this happened to you",
"Go home Lorelai, I don't need your sympathy. I just need you and your fucking husband to stay away from me",
"Please Luke, let me explain. He came home early from his mums, asked where I had been, I lied because I couldn't handle that conversation today but he knew I was lying. I told him the truth and said I was here with my friend Luke and he assumed that we'd had sex and he said some awful things, I told him that nothing happened. I ended up telling him that I still have feelings for you and then he pushed me, and I fell against the wall and hurt my back and that's when Babette….."
"He what? He put his fucking hands on you? I'm going to kill him….."
"Luke, leave it. I'm ok, just a little sore but we need to focus on you right now. Just forget about him. We need to clean up your face and put some ice of your eye. Let me help please".
Lorelai helped clean up Luke's face and she couldn't help staring into his beautiful blue eyes and suddenly all the events of the event became too much and Lorelai began to sob! Luke wrapped his arms around Lorelai and consoled her.
"Ssssh, don't cry Lorelai. I can't bear to see you cry, please stop. I'm sorry, I'm sorry for everything ok? Please stop crying Lorelai. How can I make this better?",
"How can you make this pain stop? Kiss me, please Luke. Kiss me".
Luke hesitated for a moment but then slowly moved his lips to Lorelai's and gave her a kiss full of all the emotion he was feeling. It felt like coming home. Eventually Luke carried Lorelai from the living space to his bed and one thing led to another and Luke and Lorelai made love before falling asleep together.
Lorelai woke early the next morning and although she never regretted sleeping with Luke, she regretted the timings of everything. Luke was still asleep so Lorelai left him a note:
"Luke, thank you for last night, you always make me feel better when I'm hurting but I just wish I didn't hurt you in the process. I need some time away to get my head straight. I'm not running, I just need time to think. I will be in touch when I'm back, I love you Luke. Forever yours, Lorelai".
Lorelai rushed home, packed up some things, took Paul Anke to Babette's, rang Sookie to make arrangements for the inn, rang Christopher to ask him to collect his things and asked him for a divorce and rang Rory to tell her that was leaving for a little while. Lorelai knew where she was heading, she knew where she needed to go……to Mia's.
Meanwhile Luke woke up, instantly felt the pain in his face, he reached for Lorelai and was surprised that she wasn't there. He saw her note on the table and he rushed over to read it. He re-read and re-read the note, he tried to call Lorelai but she didn't pick up. He went down stairs to open the diner but his mind was on Lorelai all day.
