Chapter 18
"Will Master Chistery be ok?" Sarah was worried about sending the nice Flying Monkey back to her new home.
"He protected me more than once from the Wizard and his goons so I'd say he can handle himself," Elphaba gave her a wink. The green woman visited the young Munchkin and her companion in the infirmary the next morning.
"Sometimes I forget who I am talking to," Sarah chuckled.
"As do I. Thank you so much for everyone's help," Fevzi said.
"You are most welcome. I meant what I said. You are under my protection and all of Oz will know it now," Elphaba smiled. They were interrupted by Fiyero walking over to them.
"Fevzi, may I borrow you for a bit?" The Prince asked.
"Your Highness," Fevzi bowed.
"Enough of that. I think you and Sarah have earned the right to call me Fiyero. Now, you think you could help me?" Elphaba's other half asked.
"Yes sir," Fevzi said. Fiyero nodded and the two left the ladies alone.
"Do I need to be worried?" Sarah asked.
"Hardly. We just found out that our favorite Sergeants are starting a family and Fiyero wants to involve Fevzi. Give him something else to think about," Elphaba winked.
"Oh. That's good. I've been concerned that he was going to worry himself to death. I'm doing much better," Sarah said.
"Yes, you are. Part of the reason that I wanted to get you alone was that we know what the person who hurt you was trying to do," the green woman wasn't sure how this was going to go.
"It wasn't a tattoo, was it?" Let it be said that Sarah was smart as a whip.
"No," Elphaba heaved a sigh. Sarah nodded as if she expected this answer which made the green woman want to press things further.
"No one in the village hates me or at least I don't think they do," the younger Munchkin said.
"The Mayor and Mrs. Smythe said as much," Elphaba nodded.
"No matter how nice the King and Queen are, I'll never be Vinkun. Our children will never be full Vinkun," Sarah heaved a sigh.
"You're only teenagers. Talking about kids already?" Elphaba was a little surprised.
"It has to be something we talk about. He risked everything to stay with me. It was a lot to ask of him, he is the Mayor's son after all," Sarah said.
"Yes and Fiyero is the Prince," the green woman nodded, noting the parallels.
"He defied the Wizard and Lady Glinda for you," the Munchkin said.
"He did and he took on all that came with it. Despite what it might seem, Fiyero did a lot of growing up in a very short period of time," Elphaba told her.
"Fevzi did the same and while the fate of Oz is not at stake for us, there still is a lot," Sarah said. The green woman nodded and bent down to give her a hug.
"You're stronger than you seem. Don't let this color your view of everyone else," the green woman said.
"I won't," the younger Munchkin promised. Just then Damla walked into the infirmary and smiled at the two ladies. Elphaba hoped that this would help Sarah out as well. After all, Timothy was Gillikinese and Damla was Vinkun so their baby would not be full Vinkun either. That thought slipped from her mind when Mopsi and Popsi slid in behind the female Sergeant.
"Hey boys, what's going on?" Elphaba asked.
"We hate to break you away from this but…" Mopsi started. She gave him a look.
"We figured something out and King Brrr would like a word," Popsi finished.
"Crap on a cracker," Elphaba said.
