"So, are we on for trick-or-treating later?" Adrien asked Felix as they huddled under their umbrella waiting for Marinette and Kagami.
Felix was about to answer when two people walked by, one in a monster mask. "I wish you wouldn't wear that!" the girl's voice was high and strident and reached Felix's ears. "You look so scary, like a monster!"
Felix gasped, balling his fists together. Was that how people saw him, as a monster? Granted, only a few people knew about sentis, but Felix couldn't change what he was.
"You okay?" Adrien asked, looking concerned as the girls approached. "Yeah, just need some space. Meet you at Marinette's?"
Felix dashed away before Adrien could respond, seeking isolation and shelter from the rain.
Under the bridge of Swan Island, he found it, sitting and listening to the water lapping at the shore.
A flash of red caught his eye and he was surprised to see Ladybug heading towards him. "You okay?" she asked, concern on her features. Felix looked up, eyes blurry with tears. "Do you think I'm a monster, Ladybug?" Ladybug gasped. "Why would you think that?"
Felix explained, and Ladybug listened patiently. "Your not a monster, Felix. Your you, brilliant at everything you do. Besides, your not the only one to feel like that," Ladybug said, looking down at her hands.
"But your beautiful, and Paris adores you. Why would anyone think that?" Ladybug gave a shuddery sigh. "After I lost the Miraculous, not everyone in Paris thought Cat and I were as wonderful as they thought we were. As much as you tried to not hear or see it, it was there."
"But you didn't give up, and you got them back." "That's because I had people who believed in me, and didn't let me give up. Sure, there were still good days and bad days, but even to this day, Cat has my back. Don't let the cruel words hurt you, Felix. And remember, your my friend too."
"Thank you, Ladybug," Felix said, quietly. Ladybug stood and held out her hand. "Now, I believe we have some trick-or-treating to be planned."
As they walked back, Felix smiled. He was lucky to have a good friend like Marinette, also known as Ladybug.
