Day: Storage Crate Unit
(Slow Motion) Rick walks into a storage crate filled with his possessions, which includes a table and military boxes.
Inside: Court Room
Pacifica is at a committee hearing about the recent events with HYDRA, SHIELD, and the destruction at the Triskelion. She has her left hand on a Bible and her right hand up. She looks at the female Bailiff, who holds the Bible and has her right hand up as well. The Bailiff asks Pacifica, "Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?"
Pacifica says, "I do."
Inside: Storage Crate Unit
(Slow Motion) Rick scans his fingerprint on a personal safe box and opens it to reveal a handgun and a couple of passports. Rick takes out the passports.
Inside: Court Room
The Committee General asks Pacifica, "Why haven't we yet heard from Captain Universe and Ms. Pines?"
Sitting down in front of the Generals, Judges, and Community members, arms crossed, Pacifica takes a moment before answering the question, "I don't know what there is left for them to say." Some reporters wrote down in their notebooks, while others filmed and took pictures, "I think the wreck in the middle of the Potomac made their point fairly eloquently."
The male Committee General says, leaning back in his chair, "Well, they could explain how this country is expected to maintain its national security now that they and you have laid waste to our intelligence apparatus."
Pacifica calmly looks at the General, telling the truth, "HYDRA was selling you lies, not intelligence."
The Committee General quickly tells Pacifica, "Many of which you seemed to have had a personal hand in telling." Pacifica gives him a hard look.
Another Community member, named Scudder, quickly intervenes as he leans forward onto the table, "Agent, you should know that there are some on this committee-" He gestures with his hands to the other 9 people sitting at the round table, "-who feel, given your service record,-" He points to her and down to the paper in front of him with his pen, "-both for this country and against it,-" Pacifica clenches her jaw a bit as she looks away annoyed at their responses, but looks back at Scudder, "-that you belong in a penitentiary. Not mouthing off on Capitol Hill."
Pacifica calmly and faintly smirks as she tells the Community members, a bit smugly shaking her head, "You're not gonna put me in a prison. You're not gonna put any of us in a prison. You know why?"
Scudder glances away, annoyed, before looking back at Pacifica, telling her a bit sarcastically, "Do enlighten us."
Pacifica looks around at the Community members smugly with a faint smirk, "Because you need us."
Inside: Storage Crate Unit
(Slow Motion) Rick looks at himself in a small mirror as Pacifica's voice says, "Yes, the world is a vulnerable place, and yes, we helped make it that way." Rick removes his eyepatch, "But we're also the ones best qualified to defend it." Rick puts the eyepatch down on the table and grabs the sunglasses.
Inside: Court Room
Looking at the Community members, Pacifica says confidently and a bit smugly, "So, if you want to arrest me, arrest me." She shrugs a bit, "You'll know where to find me." Scudder looks away, a bit stunned by her response, and looks at the other members, and they all stay quiet.
Pacifica glances at them all before she gets up and (Slow Motion) walks away with a satisfied smirk as reporters follow her as they film and take pictures.
Inside: Storage Crate Unit
(Slow Motion) Rick, wearing sunglasses and civilian clothes, spreads lighter fluid all inside the unit, drops the bottle, flicks the lighter on with his thumb, and tosses it to the floor, setting the fluid a light. Rick watches as the fire spreads all around the unit, getting rid of any trace of his existence, including his passports and eyepatch, burning them and his hiding place at once. He then takes a step back and watches the unit burn.
Outside: Cemetery
Later, Rick, still wearing sunglasses and a hoodie, meets up with Steven and Mordecai at a cemetery at his own grave, "So, you've experienced this sort of thing before?"
Steven all healed up, looking like himself again, telling Rick with his hands loosely on his hips, "You get used to it." Rick looks down at his gravestone, which reads 'COL. RICHARD D. SANCHEZ "THE PATH OF RIGHTEOUS MAN." EZEKIEL 25.17'
Rick says to Steven and Mordecai, "We've been data mining HYDRA's files. Looks like a lot of rats didn't go down with the ship." Steven frowns and nods a bit as he hears Rick say, "I'm headed to Europe tonight. Wanted to ask if you'd come."
Steven tells Rick, "There's something I gotta do first."
Rick looks at Mordecai on his right, "How about you, Mordecai? Could use a man with your abilities."
Looking at Steven, Mordecai turns his head to Rick, "I'm more of a soldier than a spy."
Rick looks down at his gravestone and says, "All right, then." He looks back at Mordecai and holds his hand out. Mordecai respectfully shakes his hand. Steven then shakes Rick's hand, who tells them, "Anybody asks for me, tell them they can find me right here." Rick nods down to his gravestone. Steven nods a little and let go of Rick's hand.
Just then, a voice speaks up, and Steven and Mordecai look to their right, seeing Marcy slowly walking towards them with a thick file in her hand, all healed up from her injuries. As Rick walks away, Marcy tells Steven and Mordecai, "You should be honored. That's about as close as he gets to saying thank you."
Steven and Mordecai walk close to Marcy. Steven asks her, "Not going with him?"
Marcy stands in front of Steven with a smile, answering him, "No." Mordecai stands to the side, giving the two some space.
Steven stares knowingly, "Not staying here."
Marcy smiles as she shakes her head a bit, "Nah." She shifts a bit on her feet, telling Steven, "Pacifica blew all my covers. I gotta go figure out a new one."
Steven tells Marcy, "That might take a while."
Marcy smirks knowingly, "I'm counting on it." Her expression softens as she breathes, "That thing you asked for." She holds out the thick file to Steven, "I called in a few favors from Kiev." Steven gently takes the file from her, looking down at it. Marcy smirks playfully at Steven, "Will you do me a favor? Don't call that nurse." She is talking about Agent 13.
Steven smiles faintly, amused by Marcy's playfulness, "She's not a nurse."
Marcy smirks fully, "And you're not a SHIELD agent."
Steven asks Marcy curiously, "What was her name again?"
Marcy answers with a faint smirk, "Kiki. She's nice." She looks at him, "But you know who to really call." Steven nods knowingly. She means to call Mabel. Marcy's playfulness disappears, and she looks at Steven. After a moment, she steps forward, gently grabs his arm, leans up, kisses Steven on the cheek, and whispers, "Thank you, Steven." She's thanking him for saving her life and for everything he has done for her. Steven nods, looking at her with a smile. Marcy then turns around and walks away, saying, "Be careful, Steven." She stops walking and turns to face Steven, "You might not want to pull on that thread." She's nodding towards the thick file that she handed to him.
Marcy walks away, and Steven opens the thick file containing information about Lars and Connie regarding their Diamond Soldier transformations. Steven looks to the left to see a picture of Lars on ice. Steven grabs the edge of the picture and lifts it up to see another picture of Connie, also on ice, both of their eyes closed as if they were sleeping. At the bottom of their pictures are two small pictures of Lars and Connie from the 40s before they went to war.
Mordecai walks back over to Steven, briefly looking over his shoulder. He sees what Steven's looking at, narrows his eyes a bit, turns to the side, and faces forward, his left shoulder facing Steven's back, "You're going after them."
Steven doesn't look up from the file, telling Mordecai, "You don't have to come with me."
Mordecai nods, "I know." He takes a second before looking at Steven, "When do we start?"
