A/N: The Inners are feeling the sting from the revelation and are now dealing with the information from it. How will they take it?
Reality
Michelle's Apartment
"We need to attack that bitch now!" Bakura pounded his fist on the table. "The longer we wait, the more time she has to strike at us!"
Yami, who was clutching a fist while holding Serena's brooch, took a deep breath. "But we can't go in blind, Bakura." he said. "She'll be expecting that."
"Better that she sends one of her monsters after us?"
Ryou, who was working on supper with Hollis, cleared his throat, "Kura," he said setting the chili to simmer before sitting next to him. "We all want the same thing but attacking too soon will weaken us."
"Also," Hollis replied as she simmered her vegan chili. "She may repeat the other villains' mistakes. She may send more than one agent to tire us out quicker."
"All the better to kill her now," Bakura snarled, pulling Michelle and Hotaru closer to him.
Seto just rolled his eyes. "We don't know what she's planning, Bakura. We need to be smart about this, not just bust in guns blazing. That'll get us killed faster!"
Bakura just took a deep breath as he let Michelle pull him to her chest. Listening to her heartbeat calmed him as Hotaru stroked his hair. He knew the gang was right about not going in blind, but the thought of that traitor still breathing the same air as he made his blood boil. Before he could ponder on it, however, a knock on the door snapped him out of it.
"Who could that be?" Hollis was walking towards the door when Joey grabbed her arm while Seto looked through the peephole and breathed a sigh of relief before opening it.
Serena's eyes widened seeing Mina and Lita standing in the doorway, the latter holding a thing of croissants.
"Can we come in?" Mina asked, eyes red and puffy.
Amara's Apartment
Mai Valentine was in her girlfriend's rundown apartment cooking dinner for them. Knowing Amara would be home in thirty minutes, she just now put the chicken parmesan in the oven to ensure her girlfriend had a hot meal waiting for her when she returned from the track.
Needing to take a break before placing in the garlic bread, the blonde vixen put Spice World in the laptop and kept it on menu. Her girlfriend only had the apartment for a few days: a far cry from the penthouse she used to reside in with her ex. For one, the kitchen stove and fridge were both old and needed thorough cleaning. The counters and sink did also, but that, and the cabinets were easier to accomplish.
Sitting back with a sigh, Mai just thought of everything that happened over the past few days. Amara's ex broke up with her, causing her to have to find an apartment in a matter of hours. When they finally found this place after the nicer accommodations rejected her, it was ladened with dust and debris from the previous tenants. There was also dog shit in the closet, some didn't even dry yet.
Mai had to hire a deep cleaning service and exterminator that could clean the place and get rid of pests before her girlfriend could move in. It cost a pretty penny, but Mai was glad to do it in order not to run into vermin when staying over. While knowing it was wrong to date Amara while she was taken, Mai was assured that she'd break up with Michelle for her. So, she stayed.
"Maybe I'm a hopeless romantic," the blonde chuckled to herself as the door swung open and Amara stomped in before slamming it shut, startling her to her feet.
Back at Michelle's
Everyone was sitting in the living room, eyes widened, and mouths gaped as Mina recounted the confrontation with her mother. Her head was down, and eyes were glued to her lap.
What did I do? The blonde thought as tears streamed down her face. I struck my own mother!
Having heard the story, Hollis sighed, "Mina," she took the despondent blonde's hand. "Everyone has those days where they snap! Hell, there were times that mom and I fought, but I know you didn't feel good striking her."
She shook her head in response, "You have no idea how much I regret that, Hollis," she wiped the tears. "She may have berated dad and me for years, but she's still my mother!"
"I know," Serena took Mina's other hand. "You know before I started working on myself, my mom would kick me out of the house if I made a bad grade. I had to go without dinner."
Everyone's eyes widened up at this information, especially Hollis'. Kicking a child out of the house over a stupid grade was horrid but denying them supper? Beyond stupid!
Hollis narrowed her eyes at her blonde cousin, "Why didn't you tell me?" she let out a sigh. "Mom and I would've helped you!"
"I was going to, but they cut international calling saying it was too expensive. I didn't know how else to reach you."
The brunette then pulled Serena to her chest before gently stroking her hair, "Oh, Serena!" soothed Hollis before planting a kiss in her hair. "She had no right to do that," she shook her head. "Especially after she endured that same."
Along with perking up her ears, that last bit caused the blonde to jump to her feet, "W-w-what?" she stammered.
Before Hollis could say another word, however, her cell phone rang. "Hello," she answered it.
"Hollis, help!" cried the voice on the other end.
"Mai?" she, Kaiba, and especially Joey jumped to their feet. "Where are you?"
After getting the address, the trio and Serena ran to Hollis' car and headed to Amara's flat with Joey gunning it.
"MAI, OPEN THIS DOOR!"
Mai was on the bathroom floor seated in a fetal position, sobbing her eyes out and clutching the left side of her face. She was planning a relaxing night with her girlfriend: eating a nice dinner and cuddling to a movie, but that changed when Amara stormed in in a rage.
Mai went to ask her what was wrong, to which the racer shouted that she got fired and lost her sponsorship after the lost race. She went to pull her into a hug, but the tomboy immediate span around and jumped back with fiery and bloodshot eyes, "Don't fucking touch me!" she shouted.
"I…I…," the older woman stumbled backwards, heart racing. "d-don't…"
That's when the Sky Senshi bust out laughing maniacally, "D-don't what?" she mocked as she inched closer to the femme fatale, burping the stench of alcohol in her face.
"Were you drinking and driving?" Her face was green as she fought the bile coming to the surface.
Just before Mai could do anything else, however, Amara pulled her closer and forced a sloppy kiss.
"Get off," Mai was trying to pull away, but the tomboy was too strong. Using one hand, Amara ripped the front of her shirt open to the other's horror. Fear and determination filling her, the accosted woman was able shove Tenoh away from her and ran towards to the door.
"Where do think you're going?!" Amara forced her back and struck her to the floor with the back of her hand before diving on top of her. Mai was screaming and fighting to keep the teen's hands off her body until she remembered something Hollis and Joey taught her. With her right hand, the older woman landed a punch at her lover's solar plexus, earning a loss of breath from the racer and a chance for Mai to get up and lock herself in the bathroom before calling Hollis.
"MAI!" Amara screeched, her banging getting louder. OPEN THIS DOOR, YOU FUCKING BITCH!"
In that instant the bathroom door was busted open, causing the older woman to jolt to her feet as she faced the angered Sky Senshi who was about to lunge at her when she heard the front door swing open, "Who are you calling a bitch?!"
Mai breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that voice, "Joey?"
"Mai!" Joey ran to the bathroom with Hollis right behind him, both of them gasping upon seeing her disheveled state.
The accosted blonde was able to stumble to her friends before collapsing into their arms in tears. Hollis began stroking her hair to soothe her before kissing the top of her head, "It's okay," she whispered before turning to Joey with a steely gaze. "Take her to the car."
Nodding in response, he steadied Mai and walked her out of the apartment after issuing Amara his death stare. The reincarnated moon princess then glanced at the soldier of Uranus with a calm demeanor, placing her hands on her hips.
"How…dare you?!" she asked, her blood boiling to the surface.
"I had a bad day!" Amara gritted her teeth. "She should've just kept her mouth shut and left me alone."
That's when Hollis slammed her against the wall and stared her down, "So, that justifies you trying to rape her? Assaulting her when she fought you off?" she thundered throughout the entire floor. "You're a sorry excuse for a woman and your guardian planet!"
"You bitch!" the sky senshi pushed her off before throwing a punch which the brunette caught and threw her on the ground hard, causing the blonde to arch her back in pain screaming.
That's when Seto pulled Hollis behind him and called the police, but not before Queen Beryl teleported in and waved her hand over the fallen blonde, putting her to sleep.
"Aunt Beryl," the brunette acknowledged as the redhead knelt down, laying a hand on Amara's stomach. The Nega Queen then closed her eyes and took a deep breath, emitting a glow from the soldier of Uranus and her transformation pen rising from her body before dissipating into thin air.
"I've stripped her of her powers and passed them off to someone more worthy," Beryl's eyes were downcast. "Her actions were disgraceful."
Hollis just nodded while a tear escaped her blue eyes to which Seto pulled her into his arms before leading her out the apartment while Queen Beryl faded out.
"I know that was necessary," the brunette sighed as we headed to the car. "but it still pains me."
The CEO nodded in agreement as he placed her in the back seat with Mai before hopping into the driver's seat and heading back to Michelle's apartment just as the cops showed up to Amara's apartment building.
