DZ2's Dimensions of Destiny

2nd Dimension: Shattered Genes (HP/X-Men Crossover)

"I…I still can't believe it!"

"And yet, it's true," argued Lily Potter, smiling fondly as she walked along the street towards the place that was supposed to be sanctuary; however, on that particular night, Halloween of all nights, the redheaded witch had all but begged her loving husband, James Potter, to take her to see a trusted Healer.

The reason being her sudden bouts of illness and magical surges that even James had admitted made his wife more-scary than ever.

And so, after reluctantly leaving their twin sons, Jamie and Harry Potter, in the care of their family's House Elf, the Potters had gone to see the Healer, whom Lily was a little annoyed, if not disheartened to discover was the Hogwarts school nurse, Madam Pomfrey, and not a genuine full Healer from St Mungo's or somewhere else.

The news they received certainly made up for it, though Lily still couldn't wait to get back to her darling boys.

"I wonder how the boys will handle the news that…"

BOOM!

Before Lily had a chance to finish saying what the news was, however, her eyes widened, as did James', when an explosion shattered what had been a peaceful Halloween Night in Godric's Hollow. As the explosion rocked the street, sending a wave of magical energy washing across the length and breadth of the village, Lily's eyes widened as she clutched both her heart and her stomach, fear and alarm flooding her mind.

James, meanwhile, yanked his wand from its sheath before he waved it wildly through the air, "Nebulous! Expecto Patronum: ALBUS! PETER'S BETRAYED US! GET EVERYONE HERE NOW! JAMIE'S IN DANGER!"

"And Harry…" whispered Lily, but she knew it was pointless trying to argue with her husband, who, ever since her son was born, had always put him and his very existence at the back of his mind.

And with one very good reason – at least, it was so in James' mind.

Regardless, Lily rushed to the house, ignoring James' cry to wait for Albus and the Order to arrive.

Damnit, her children were in there.

What sort of Father was he?

SG

"Godric's Heart!"

Lily didn't even bother acknowledging her husband's act of finally joining her in the ruined house.

She didn't bother looking up from the two wailing, pained youths who were lying in her arms, one of them fussing so much that it took James all but snatching him from Lily's arms to quiet the screaming from one Jamie Albus Potter.

As for his twin, Harry James Potter, he was whimpering softly, nurtured only by the soft touches of his Mummy, as well as the fact that, unlike his brother, Harry had managed to sense his Mother's presence and her offer of milk to soothe his cries. Now, he was suckling softly, whimpering in pain from what Lily had seen was a scar on his forehead, which was shaped like a bolt of lightning.

Jamie, however, seemed to be marked with an X-shaped scar that appeared to have cut across one eyebrow; unlike Harry, Jamie was also bawling so badly, he might as well have been put under the Cruciatus Curse, but when Lily checked him over, using her own amateur Healers' skills, she'd found nothing, but a splinter in the wound, indicating that Jamie had, somehow, been hit by the fallout of whatever had caused the explosion.

Harry, on the other hand…

His scar reeked of magic, on a level that even defied Lily's levels of understanding.

Now her husband had finally joined them, Lily hoped he would do the right thing.

"Jamie…you brilliant boy; look what you did to that snake-faced psycho! That's my little Prongslet!"

'Apparently not,' thought Lily, clearing her throat, directing James' attention to her as she explained, "We need to take the boys to a proper Healer, James; that scar on Jamie's eyebrow is going to need cleaning and then we have to get someone to examine Harry…"

"Why?" asked James.

Though it was his next words that made Lily's heart ache as James once again ignored one son in favour of another.

"He's just a Squib, Lily-flower: what? Am I supposed to worry about him just because he got a little boo-boo thanks to his big brother vanquishing You-Know-Who and, apparently, surviving the Killing Curse doing it? Please; just take the brat to a Muggle doctor; isn't that their job?"

SG

Little did James Potter, or Lily for that matter, know just how wrong the arrogant Potter Lord was.

Or how the winds of fate would blow with painful intent in the Potters' direction, and that their wayward son would be at the helm of it.

Some Years Later

"And in other news, a local power plant has become the centre of a deadly massacre; the culprit is believed to be a mutant, who claims to have been acting on the wishes of his Saviour, Erik Lehnsherr…"

"Oceans boil and lives lost as rogue mutant recreates the Titanic disaster…"

"These creatures are abominations against Almighty God…"

"What about the so-called X-Men? They're meant to be heroes; where are they when all this is going on?"

"Mutant rallies on the rise as supposedly-innocent mutants and human supporters try to weather the storm of hatred…"

"Recognise a mutant: how to avoid being forced to live with Freaks!"

"Rewards now offered for live mutants: contact the Mutant Response Division…"

As more and more headlines crossed the television screens assembled in the room, a lone, solitary figure let out a sigh of inevitability, as well as disappointment, as he stared at the faces and the images flashing before his eyes.

"So many mutants…"

Staring at the images, the figure blinked once…

And suddenly, the images changed, showing men, women and children in robes and other olden-days style clothing, all of them acting with such freedom and happiness, while others rotted in dark corners and hid away from the light as new voices and images filled the air.

"And another win for the Camelot Cavaliers, sending them into the Quidditch Cup Final, to be held in Ireland…"

"Potions research into a cure for the Lycanthrope virus continues; sooner or later, these monsters will be naught but memories…"

"Now, let's work on the next spell; remember the wand movement and concentrate…"

"The Dark Lord will return…and all you filthy mudbloods and blood traitors will beg for death…"

"They say it's almost time…when will we know for sure?"

"The Brat-Who-Lived is coming to Hogwarts…I think I might actually throw up…"

"So many Wixen…" whispered the observer, his voice unheard by all those on the screens, while the observer's cold green eyes flicked from one screen to the next as he growled in a soft, eerie voice. "So much potential…squandered…for so long…"

As his eyes flicked across the screens, the observer's gaze locked onto one particular image; this one showed four people, two adults and two children, who were gathered together. At first glance, they looked happy, if not ecstatic, though that could have had a lot to do with the fact that one of the children held an envelope in the air, waving it around like it was a Golden Ticket to the Wonka Factory.

"I'm going to Hogwarts! I'm going to become the greatest Gryffindor ever, and conquer the Quidditch Team, and be as awesome as my Dad…"

"All that and more, Jamie," insisted one of the adults, hugging the boy in question before he tousled the boy's messier-than-messy black hair, his eyes shining with delight. "I know you'll make me proud, but remember: at the end of the day, you're already greatness incarnate thanks to you being the Boy-Who-Lived…"

The observer stiffened as he heard those words.

The Boy-Who-Lived…

Four words that had all but ruined his chance at a normal childhood.

And opened the doorway to a future full of potential and greatness that went far beyond foolish wand-waving and silly incantations, not to mention going above and beyond the idea of how lesser he was to the spoilt brat on the video screen.

Sneering at the familial happiness and closed-minded sense of love, while also looking relieved at the fact that such poisons hadn't infected the youngest child in the image, the observer looked down to his own right hand, which was clenched around a crumpled-up envelope of his own, before he smiled coldly, his emerald-green eyes shining as he chuckled to himself.

"It's time…to set things right…"

Rising from his seat in front of the screens, the observer opened his hand, revealing the full-sized envelope held within his grasp, before his smile widened as he looked again to the happy-go-lucky families on the video screen.

"They think they can just forget about me…leave me in squalor…but I'll show them: I will return with a vengeance…I will invade their world, I will tear down everything that might protect them; I will take from them everything they took from me and then some…and then…when it's too late…"

His green eyes seemed to shine both brighter and darker with an ancient, omnipotent focus as he lifted a hand to the screens.

"When they're powerless…and alone…helpless before me…they will realise the truth…"

The screens seemed to fizzle and spark as the observer aimed his hand at the image of the family of four, the eldest child of whom was now asking for things he just needed for school, while going on and on about Gryffindor honour and how he was going to be the best Boy-Who-Lived ever!

A statement echoed in the spoilt-rotten support from Daddy Dearest, who looked at his son like he was Merlin Incarnate.

The observer's eyes burned with hatred…

"They could have been gods!"

He clenched his fist.

And the screens exploded into showers of glass dust and shrapnel, all of which surrounded the youth, as well as the envelope that hovered between him and what was left of the screens.

"Now we'll see who the Squib is…Potter!"

Yikes, talk about a sleeping dragon tickled; as you may guess from the title and the speech at the end, this is kind of inspired by Power Rangers: Shattered Grid, but, at the same time, it's a tale that could be considered a response to the following challenge;

DZ2's 'Genesis' Challenge: Harry Potter/X-Men/Marvel/Avengers: Everything has its origin story, even Mutation and Mutants: some believed it to be En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse, but they were wrong: now, the First Mutant has risen again...three guesses whom.

Rules: All affinities are welcome

Omega-Level Harry

When the story starts is up to you

As the First, Harry MUST have power over ALL mutations, as well as the X-Gene itself, which also gives him the power to use ANY power he chooses

How he learns/acquires/evolves his power is up to you

If Good: Harry MUST want to help Charles bring the two worlds together

If Evil: Harry MUST become as focused on Homo Superior and 'those with the greatest powers' as Magneto, Shaw and Apocalypse

Harry's name doesn't HAVE to be Genesis, but, ideally, it IS something associated with him being the first/the Alpha/the Apex Mutant etc.

The preferred pairing is Harry with Jean, owing to how they seem to complete one another, but ANY pairing is accepted

Guidelines: Movieverse

MCU

Animated Series

Comics

MCEU

Harry creates a new team of his own brand of X-Men

The First is, literally, reborn in Harry (meaning he thinks and feels and acts like the First, but his incarnation is called Harry Potter)

Recognising their threat/potential, Harry seeks to claim/protect/control the Infinity Stones, the Power Cosmic, the Phoenix Force and/or other all-powerful forces

As a good guy, Harry is the equal and opposite to Apocalypse (the 'Michael' to his 'Lucifer' if that makes sense)

As a villain, Harry seeks to turn the Phoenix Force Dark

As well as mutation, Harry has a power over magic/magical cores/essences

As well as manipulating mutations/X-Genes, Harry can absorb/cleanse/drain/feed on powers as well

Harry unlocks hidden mutations and/or magic in Squibs and/or normal humans

Doctor Strange and/or other mystic heroes and/or villains become allies/servants/aides to Harry

Slash

Harems

Harry/Multi

Like Apocalypse, the First also had lieutenants/heralds/symbols of his reign

Even though he's good, Harry argues with Charles about his beliefs/way of doing things/what he did to Jean

Voldemort seeks Harry's power

Harry makes Voldemort serve him

A prophecy speaks of the return of the First

Because he is the Ultimate Master of Mutants, Harry is immune to any negative mutations (e.g. Rogue, Leech, Sauron etc.)

Because mutants weren't a thing in ancient times, The First is seen as a God and still has worshippers in the modern age

Forbidden: Weak Harry

Harry renouncing his powers

Harry letting ANYONE control him OR his powers

Good: Harry NOT siding with Xavier

Evil: Harry NOT seeking ultimate rule of mutants/Homo Superior

Other than that, it's up to you...

Or perhaps one of these prompts;

ONE:

Harry was said to have taken some of Voldemort's powers, but they're wrong. He didn't take them: he drained them from Voldemort's core. If he WANTED to, he COULD give them back...and not just to the Dark Lord

(All affinities are welcome: Omega-Level Harry: Harry's X-Gene is the power to give, take and manipulate power, including magic: through his gene, Harry can also use ANY and ALL powers for himself, making him, quite possibly, the most powerful mutant alive, even more powerful than Jean, Apocalypse, Sinister and other Omegas: oftentimes, Harry will give power to others and take power from others too: how, exactly, Harry gives and takes power is up to you: he can give and take magic from Wixen, giving Muggles/Squibs the gift or leaving Wixen as weak as Squibs: because he is basically the God of Mutation, some see Harry as a leader to be followed/worshipped while others see him as a monster or something to be experimented on to discover secrets about the X-Gene: full Marvel crossover is welcome: bonus points if Harry CHARGES for the giving and/or taking of powers, be it in mutants or in Wixen: bonus points if Harry's magic giving and taking ability also affects magical creatures)

TWO:

Harry Potter was born without magic, to his parents' horror. However, Voldemort still attacked them in Godric's Hollow: when he did, he's destroyed and Harry wound up more powerful than Hogwarts may be able to handle. How? Let's just say, if you need a map to find answers, X Marks the Spot

(All affinities are welcome: Harry's mutant ability allows him to take the power of any mutant/empowered being who uses their powers against him: if the power isn't controlled, Harry can take ALL power from others, leaving them without any power at all: when Voldemort realises this, he's scared and enraged: bonus points if Harry attempts to use his Omega-Level powers as a cure for Wixen/Mutant/Enhanced/Inhuman who don't want their powers: bonus points if, as his gene and body grows, Harry later discovers he can GIVE power to others as well as take them away)

So, the basics now: as it says in the prompts, the idea is a WBWL with Harry thought to be a Squib, but he's not; he's actually the most powerful mutant alive, namely because his power/X-Gene is a reincarnation of the First Mutant – no, not Apocalypse; an OC mutant I decided to call 'Genesis'

His goal now is revenge, though, for the time being, he also doesn't yet know he is the descendant of the first; he just sees power as his greatest weapon and the key to his revenge.

So, yes, it would be a Dark/Dark-Lord Harry and, obviously, we'd be talking seriously OP level with fun thrown in for good measure.

Anyway, hope you liked this titbit.

And so, onto the next Dimension!
