Memories Reclaimed
The court was introduced to Chaz Thurman, a shark demon with an arrogant attitude. He was about to give his first testimony and so J will have to expose his lies to prove V is innocent.
Chaz began to testify 'What I saw that day' saying "I was at the park all afternoon, deep in though about my life situation. I don't remember the time all that well, but I do believe it was past 6 PM." We see a flashback of Chaz kneeling over the body of Taka looking up at the area above to see V looking down at them. "All of a sudden, a police trooper falls from above, right in front of my eyes. Without a thought, I looked up, and there I met the eyes of a charming young lady drone."
"Of course, I remember her sweet face. It was that of the pretty drone defendant there. The only other thing I saw was the blue banana that fell with the police trooper." Chaz said finishing his testimony.
"Hmmm, that was certainly a decisive testimony." Maccadam said to that.
"Decisive?! J, did you hear what he just said?!" Jaden said concerned.
"Yeah." J said nodding.
"That's all you have to say? How can you be so calm?!" Jaden asked surprised.
'It's strange…My mind is very calm and clear.' J thinks on it and says "Maybe it's because I…believe in my client."
"You mean V?" Jaden asked her.
"Yes. And if she really is innocent, then that can only mean one thing: That shark is lying!" J said looking at Chaz.
Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "You may now question the witness, Miss. J."
'I'll find out the truth, no matter how well you craft your lies!' J thinks looking at Chaz. She only finds something off with the final statement with the blue banana and presses it saying "Hold it! The blue banana…?"
"Well, it was actually more than just one. More like a bunch of blue bananas." Chaz said thinking.
"Now what would a bunch of blue bananas be doing there…?" J said thinking.
Chaz shrugs and said "And why would I know such a thing? I'm only telling you what I saw."
"That's really strange." Jaden said thinking. "V never mentioned anything about a bunch of blue bananas. That's it, J! He's got to be lying about the bananas!"
'Hmm…He could be, but…there's no reason for him to lie about there being blue bananas at the crime scene.' J thinks on it and said "And what if it's not a lie?"
"Well, maybe he thought he was seeing one thing, and it was something else…?" Jaden suggests thinking.
'If he mistook something else for a bunch of blue bananas, then that would be an inaccuracy. Think, J, think!' J thinks on it and checking the court record realizes what it could be and said on this same statement "Objection! Mr. Thurman." She presents on the screens the blue baseball glove "I believe I have the blue bananas you saw…right here!"
"Ah, so you knew about the blue bananas, too. Why didn't you say so earlier?" Chaz said with a cocky grin and shrugs "But don't think you can use this as a way to pull more information out of me."
'And that's where you'd be wrong.' J thinks
"M-Miss J. What is the meaning of this?" Maccadam said surprised
"Isn't that the baseball glove?" Bltizo asked looking at it confused.
"Huh?! Wh-Wh-What?! A baseball glove?" Chaz asked gripping his scarf in surprise and panic.
"Doesn't it look delicious? Care for a bite?" J asked grinning.
"Th-That's…" Chaz said nervous. "That's not….It's a….Nooooooo!"
J slams her hands on her bench and said "Your Honor! I think this proves one very important fact! This witness…has bad eyesight. By the way, just how bad are your eyes?"
"Huh? How…What…You…What are you asking me about this all of a sudden?!" Chaz asked worried.
"Objection!" Blitzo called out and said "Your Honor, it is very simple mistake a glove for a bunch of bananas regardless of colour…"
Maccadam shakes his head and said "No, I don't think so. Objection overruled."
"Y-Y-You…You're one of those people. Yes, you know what I mean." Chaz said getting angry and goes on a rant.
J stops him slamming her hands down and said "And that is why I asked you how bad your eyesight is!"
"They're both 20/200. I suppose you're going to tell me that's terrible, right?!" Chaz yelled at her.
"Why are you not wearing your glasses today then?" Maccadam asked him to that Chaz looked worried.
"Ummm…That's because I lost them recently, you see…" Chaz admits nervous. "Of course, I was planning on getting a new pair made right away! But you know, my glasses are no ordinary glasses, so to replace them…"
"How about when you witnessed the crime? Were you wearing your glasses then?" J asked him to stop another tangent. Chaz jumps and briefly chokes himself with his scarf at the question. She then asked, "How about it, witness?!"
"Y-You are an unrelenting, evil drone." Chaz said angry and goes on another tangent.
J slams her hands down again and said "Which boils down to you were not wearing your glasses at that time! Therefore! The identity of the 'woman' at the scene of the crime and that of the defendant cannot be proven to be the same by this witness!" Chaz jumps and chokes himself with his scarf again.
"Objection!" Bltizo called out and said nervous "But the height difference was only 9 feet! It was very possible for him to see the face of the culprit standing on the upper path!"
"Hmm…Witness." Maccadam said looking at the shark demon "Please be more accurate in your testimony. Remember, a person's life is at stake."
"Y-Yes, Your Honor!" Chaz said annoyed.
"Now then, please continue with your testimony." Maccadam told him.
"Please tell the court what happened next, in the moments after you witnessed the crime." Btlizo said to Chaz.
Chaz still angry calms down and testifys 'What Happened Next' saying "The girl on the upper path ran away as soon as she realized I was there. After that, I immediately called the police trooper station to report the crime. It must've been 6:45 PM when I made the call. They must have a lot of free time on their hands since they showed up within 10 minutes."
"Hmm…" Maccadam thinks on it and said "So the person who was on the upper path saw you and then ran away."
"Yes, that is correct." Chaz said confidently. "Which is why, even someone without a superior brain like mine can understand that…that female drone is the murderer!"
"You may question the witness now, Miss. J." Maccadam told J.
J starts by pressing the second statement about Chaz calling the police saying "Hold it! Immediately? As in?"
"As in immediately! I mean, sure a minute might have elapsed before I did, but…That's the duty of every good citizen, or did they not teach that at your pitiful school?" Chaz said smirking.
'You think people learn about how to call the police in COLLEGE?!' J thinks sweat dropping.
"Hey, J. I think you should take a look at the Court Record for a sec." Jaden whispers to J.
J confused checks but press the third statement about what time it was when Chaz made the call saying "Hold it! How do you know what time it was…?"
"That detective told me. You know which one I mean." Chaz tells her. "The drone one in the pilot's cap that makes him look like a dropout from a no-name high school."
"Hey, buddy! I graduated from a pretty good, I mean, top-ranked college!" N calls out from the audience his feelings hurt.
'I don't believe this.' J thinks sweating at that.
"It doesn't matter. I don't believe I was mistaken on what time I called." Chaz said and shrugs saying "And if I am wrong, then that detective obviously doesn't know how to tell time."
"What?! Why you! You're just some jerk shark who…" N calls out again.
"I think the court can see your point." Bltizo said to that.
J looks at the autopsy and realizes the flaw in the testimony doesn't line up at the time of death and presents this at the second statement saying "Objection! Mr. Thurman, would you please take a look at this?" She shows Taka's Autopsy Report on the screens.
"You mean the victim's autopsy report?" Maccadam asked
"According to this, the murder occurred at 6:28 PM." J tells the court.
"So what of it?" Chaz said confidant.
"You said that you called the police troopers immediately after the murder took place." J explained and adds "However, by the time you had called the police troopers, it was already 6:45 PM." She slams her hand on the bench and said staring at Chaz "There is clearly a 15-minute gap here! Do you deny it?!"
"Aaaaack!" Chaz lets out as he chokes himself a but with his scarf rattled.
"I think this court would like to hear what you were doing during this 15 minute gap!" J said pointing at Chaz.
"Grrrr!" Chaz lets out annoyed.
"Objection!" Bltizo lets out worried and sweating as he said "The witness was in shock at the time after witnessing a terrible murder! It's only to be expected that he would be a little dazed…"
"Objection!" J calls out and said "Fifteen minutes is hardly what I would call 'a little dazed'!"
"Aaaah!" Bltizo jumps at that rebuttal.
Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "Mr. Thurman."
"Y-Yes?" Chaz said a little nervous.
"Explain yourself. What were you doing during those 15 minutes?" Maccadam asked him. Chaz remains silent containing his anger.
"Answer the question!" J told the shark demon.
"…I…Uhh…Telephone…Err…I mean…" Chaz said nervous trying to think.
"Spit it out!" J told him.
"I…I was searching for a phone booth!" Chaz said to that.
"A phone booth?" J asked.
"You mean, you don't have a cell phone?" Maccadam asked surprised.
Chaz was surprised and sad holding in his anger "You and your questions! As if you're trying to open all the layers of a Matryoshka doll. You must think you're really something special!"
J slams her hands on the bench and said "Witness!"
"I-I lost my cell phone! There! Are you happy?!" Chaz spat out annoyed.
"You lost it…?" J said thinking.
Maccadam shakes his head and said "Unbelievable! You lose your glasses and your cell phone! You must be very scatterbrained when it comes to your belongings."
"What?! Are you saying that first-rate people are never allowed to lose things?!" Chaz said angry and goes on another tangent.
Maccadam bangs his gavel and lets out "Enough!"
'Oh man, oh man…' J thinks on it but then thinks 'Wait! Hold on a second. He lost…his cell phone?'
"J! That cell phone! Could it be…?" Jaden said getting the same idea.
"You mean this phone V found? There's no way…!" J said pulling out the phone. She thinks 'Boy I didn't this this coming' She then questions further saying slamming her hands down "Mr. Thurman! Where is your cell phone right now?"
Chaz smirks and shrugs confidant saying "Heh, what are yout getting all excited about? You seem to be a little confused." He then pulls out a cell phone to show "I found my phone. I'll have you know. See. Here it is."
"Oh…I see…" J said sweating at that.
"Hmmm, looks like he's got his phone." Jaden said to that sighing "And I thought that just maybe that was his."
"Hmmm…" J thinks on it.
Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "Well then, I think we've cleared this issue up. At the time of the murder, the witness did not have his cell phone because he had lost it. Therefore, the delay in his call was caused by his search for a phone booth."
Chaz grins and shrugs saying "Well, that's the gist of it. I guess you could put it that way and leave it at that."
"Do you have any futher questions, Miss. J?" Maccadam asked.
J realizing there is something after looking at the Court Record slams her hands down and said "Your Honor! The witness's testimony does not make any sense! I don't believe that there was ever a need for the witness to search for a phone!"
"H-How dare you!" Chaz said annoyed.
"Objection!" Bltizo called out and said "You can't just make outrageous claims like that! You do have some sort of proof, don't you?"
"Well, yeah…O-Of course!" J said and thinks 'This evidence should be good enough, I think…'
"Alright. Let's have this proof, then." Maccadam asked her "Please present proof that the witness had no need to search for a public phone booth!"
"Take that!" J calls out as she shows on the screens Crime Photo 1 and said "It's quite simple, actually. Please take a look at this."
"At the crime scene photo?" Maccadam asked.
"Is there a problem with it?" Bltizo asked as well.
"Oh, there's nothing wrong with the picture." J states and adds "But if you don't understand my logic after looking at it, something is wrong with you!" She points to the obvious phone booth in the photo.
"Noooo!" Chaz yells out and chokes himself again a bit.
"It's…It's…A phone booth!" Maccadam said in surprise.
"That is correct!" J said nodding. "All the defendant had to do was walk three steps!" She slams her hands down and points at Chaz "Mr. Thurman! Why did you not use the phone that was right in front of you?" Chaz screams out and chokes himself again as the audience murmur in surprise.
Maccadam slams his gavel to silence them and said "Order! Order!"
"Objection!" Blitzo yells out and said sweating "Wh-What does reporting the crime a little late prove for the defence?!"
"Objection!" J said pointing at Bltizo and said "The witness can't explain what he was doing for those 15 minutes!" She slams her hands down "That is reason enough to throw suspicion on his testimony!"
"Yes, this is very true." Maccadam said in agreement and stares down at Chaz "What do you have to say for yourself, witness?!" Chaz was nervous sweating as he keeps silent.
"Then I bet this phone really is his, J!" Jaden said referring to the phone in their possession. "He must've killed Taka to get his phone back!"
"But V said that she was going to return it to him." J points out. "So, there was no reason for him to kill for it. And on top of that, we still have the phone she found anyway."
"Hmm…But if he wasn't looking for his cell phone, maybe he was looking for something else…?" Jaden said smling.
'Was he…?' J thinks on it.
"Miss. J." Maccadam said looking at her.
"Yes, Your Honor?" J said looking at him.
"Do you have any thoughts you would like to share with the court?" Maccadam asked her. "Can you offer an explanation as to what the witness was doing during those 15 minutes?"
J has an idea and nods saying "There is only one possible explanation."
Maccadam nods and bangs his gavel saying "Alright. Let's hear your explanation. However, be forewarned that if your explanation is not persuasive, you will be penalized. Think carefully before you present, Miss. J."
"Yes, Your Honor!" J said nodding but thinks as she was sweating internally 'Urk, I probably shouldn't have said there was only one possibility…'
"Please present to the court the one piece of evidence that will answer the following: Why didn't the witness call he police right away?" Maccadam said to her.
J thinks on it and then looks at the glasses and presents them saying "Take that!" She slams her hands down on the bench saying "Mr. Thurman!"
"Wh-What?! Don't do that! You almost gave me a heart attack!" Chaz said really nervous.
J shows the glasses on the screens and asked "These are your glasses, aren't they?"
"Ah! Where…Where did you find…?! Ghaaaa!" Chaz says shocked chocking himself again with his scarf.
J smirks and said "I believe the court all heard what you just confessed to: That these glasses are in fact yours!" The audience murmur in surprise at this revelation "I'll tell you where they were found, Mr. Thurman. These glasses were found under the victim's body."
U-Under the v-victim's body?!" Chaz said in shock.
The audience murmur more at this and Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "Order! Order!"
"N-Now, w-wait a second! Hold on!" Chaz said nervous "I-I didn't confess or confirm a-any-anything!"
J slams her hands down and said "Your Honor! I think the answer is quite clear here! As he fell, Kiyotaka Ishimaru grabbed the culprit's glasses. The culprit knew that he had to find his glasses and searched frantically for them. What he didn't realize was that they were under the victim's body!" She slams her hands down again and said "And that is why it took him 15 minutes to make that call!"
The audience murmur again in shock and Maccadam bangs his gavel to silence them and said "M-Miss. J! Are you…? Are you indicting the witness as the real murderer?!"
"Of course! That is precisely what I am doing!" J said smiling
"Oooo…OOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" Chaz screams out as she chokes his neck with his scarf tightly as the audience chatters in shock.
'I know I'm right! He is the real murderer!' J thinks to herself.
"Did you figure it out, J?!" Jaden asked the drone lawyer.
"More or less" J said to him and holds up the cell phone "Turns out this cell phone was the key to this case after all. Anyway, now is our chance to deep-six this shark. I'll sink him in one shot!"
"Yeah!" Jaden said nodding smiling "This is so exciting, watching you work again!"
J was in her mind palace, the bar said 'Memory Recovery: 75% complete' as she thinks 'Somehow, my old self is coming back to me. It's time to sink or swim: everything rests on the edge of a knife! This is the moment I've been waiting for…'
Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "Order! Order!"
"Objection!" Bltizo calls out and said nervous "Your Honor! The defence…The defence is making a mockery of this court! Without any solid ground to stand on, he accuses the witness of being the murderer!"
"Y-Y-Yeah! That-That's right!" Chaz said scared "I…I'm no criminal!" He gets annoyed "Th-This third-rate, fraud of a lawyer…"
"In that case, why don't we look at it from a different perspective." J suggests slamming her hands down and points at Chaz "Let's hear your explanation as to why you are NOT the murderer!"
"Why, that's…That's easy….Um…Uh…" Chaz said trying to think. "For example…There's um…The name the victim wrote! What about that…?"
"Oh, you mean the name 'Serial Designation Vee'?" J asked him.
"Y-Yeah! Even an idiot bot like you can read that, right?" Chaz said to that.
"But we already know this was not written by the victim himself." J told him. "After all, the defendant's name is 'Serial Designation V' and the victim was left-handed."
"In other words, in order to make the defendant look guilty, the real criminal used the victim's right hand to write her name on the ground?" Maccadam asked summing it up.
"B-But…But, but!" Chaz said shaking nervous. "Wouldn't that mean that the real criminal was someone the defendant knew? Otherwise, how else would that person know her name was 'Vee', er 'V'?!"
"That is a good point." Maccadam said to that. "The witness didn't even know of Ms. V before this trial."
'Ah, I forgot!' J thinks at this. 'Hmmm, was there any way this creep could've known V's name beforehand?' She then remembers there was a way thinking 'It would be best if I could prove that the witness had a chance to learn…that the defendant's name was 'Serial Designation V'.'
"Now, will the defence please present its case?" Maccadam asked. "How could the witness have known the defendant's name?"
"Take that!" J said reading the Cell Phone and looked at Chaz "Mr. Thurman. You didn't have your cell phone with you on the day of the murder, correct?"
"So, what if I didn't?" Chaz said smirking having recomposed himself.
"When you realized you had lost it, what did you do?" J asked him.
"What did I do?" Chaz asked.
"Didn't you try to find it by calling it?" J asked him.
"Why you…! How did you…?!" Chaz said getting annoyed.
"Objection!" Bltizo called out and said nervous "Your Honor! These questions have nothinth to do with…"
"Overruled." Maccadam said shaking his head. "Miss J, where are you going with this line of questioning? Do you think there is some relation between the witness's cell phone and the murder?"
"I do, Your Honor." J said to that and shows the cell phone to the court explaining "On the day of the murder, Serial Designation V picked up a lost phone in the park. And!" She slams his hands down "She also received a phone call from the owner of the phone!"
We flashback again to when V and Taka walking when the found phone begins ringing with that same creepy ringtone again.
Past V answers the phone "Um, hello?"
"Oh, thank you! I've been searching for my phone." A male voice said on the other end.
"Is this yours? Oh, I'm glad you called! We can meet up and I can give this back!" Past V said with a smile.
"I'll be right there, um…I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name…" The man said.
"I'm Serial Designation V but you can call me V!" Past V said to him on the phone.
We return to the present with J looking at Chaz as she said "That was when you learned that her name was 'Serial Designation V'!"
"Uh, um, nnngh…" Chaz said getting nervous.
"But you made one fatal mistake." J said.
"Fatal mistake?" Maccadam asked.
"My client's name she goes by is 'V' but the name that was written on the ground was 'Vee'." J explained and slams his hands down "This is a mistake that could only occur if all you knew was how her name sounded!"
"EEEEEEEEEK!" Chaz lets out and chokes himself again with his scarf.
The audience murmur in shock and Maccadam bangs his gavel "Order! Order!"
"Objection!" Bltizo said and then said sweating "B-But, Your Honor! The witness has no motive!"
"And your point is?" Maccadam asked the imp.
"it's very simple, Your Honor. A person usually would not kill someone without a reason." Bltizo explained. "Mr. Thurman had no reason to kill anyone!"
"That is absolutely correct! I don't have a motive!" Chaz said angry.
"Hmm…Miss. J." Maccadam said looking at the drone.
"Your Honor?" J said looking up.
"Can you explain what motive this witness could have had?" Maccadam asked.
J remains silent then grins and said, "It's very simple, Your Honor." Chaz's eyes widen in worry.
"Are you sure, J?!" Jaden asked concerned.
"If I said I can't offer an explanation, then the trial's over, right?" J said to him.
"Yeah, but…" Jaden said deadpanned.
Maccadam bangs his gavel and said, "Now then, please present to this court proof that the witness had a motive!"
"Take that!" J said as she presents the Name's List and said "Mr. Thurman's motive is right here!"
"What is this?" Maccadam said looking at it on the screen "…A list?"
"These phone numbers were pulled from the memory of the phone the defendant found." J explained "And we have determined that the people on this list are members of a 'certain group'."
"You…You looked up all those numbers…?" Chaz asked angry and annoyed.
"Of course." J said smiling. "This list of phone numbers was stored in the cell phone's memory. The names and numbers belong to people who are members of a certain con artists' group."
"Wh-Wh-Wh-Wh-What?! C-C-Con artists?!" Bltizo asked in shock.
"Can you explain why these numbers were on your phone, Mr. Thurman?!" J said pointing at Chaz.
"Th-This…This is an outrage! An invasion of privacy!" Chaz states firmly. "Looking up the phone numbers on a person's phone is a worse crime than murder!" He then goes on another tangent.
J slams her hands on the bench and said "I don't care, Mr. Thruman! All I want is fot you to tell us what this list is about!"
"You think you…any of you…know what it's like to be a refined person such as me?!" Chaz said gritting his shark teeth.
"Objection!" Bltizo calls out and said "Your Honor! This-This is…This is unjustified badgering of the witness!"
"Objection overruled." Maccadam told him. "Miss. J! What is the meaning of this?! Why would the witness have the numbers of a group of con artists on his phone?!"
"Isn't that obvious?! The witness is…" J said grinning and slams her hands on the bench as she finished "Mr. Thurman is a member of this very group!"
"Noooo!" Chaz cries out chockign himself again with his scarf as he tries to contain his growing annoyance and anger.
"All of your 'friends' phone numbers are stored right here on this phone." J explained showing the phone again. "If anyone were to look into these phone numbers, it would be all over for you. That is why you had to kill."
"Noooo! This is tooooo much!" Chaz said going to a mix of annoyed and fear.
The audience murmur and Maccadam bangs his gavel as he said "Hmmm, That does make quite a bit of sense." He looks at Chaz "Well, Mr. Thurman? Would you care to explain?"
"…I…Um, I…" Chaz said really scared.
'I got you now!' J thinks at that.
"I…I…That…I….That police trooper officer…" Chaz said shuddering nervous as the memory of the day flash in his head.
"Objection!" Bltizo called out and said nervous, "Your Honor!"
"What is it, Mr. Bltiz?" Maccadam asked him.
"Your Honor! Thos-This is…This is unjustified badgering of the witness!" Bltizo said to this.
Maccadam shakes his head and said "You said the exact same thing only a few seconds ago."
"P-P-P-P-Please! Don't make me beg!" Bltizo said to this. "Please, let's think about the content of that phone call!
He then explains the call where Past V answers the phone "Um, hello?"
"Oh, thank you! I've been searching for my phone." A male voice said on the other end.
"Is this yours? Oh, I'm glad you called! We can meet up and I can give this back!" Past V said with a smile.
When he was done Bltizo said "The defendant had already promised that she would return the phone. After that, all Mr. Thurman had to do was meet Ms. V to get his phone back. Why, then would he need to kill anyone?!"
"Hmmm…That is a valid point." Maccadam said nodding. "What does the defence think about this?"
'Hmm…If you think about it logically, then it makes sense…' J thinks.
"Then maybe we should be thinking outside the box!" Jaden said to her smiling.
'Yeah! If we think like that…Let's see…' J thinks nodding 'Maybe that slimeball saw something at the crime scene that made him commit murder.'
"Your thoughts, Miss. J?" Maccadam asked.
"Hmmm, well…" J said thinking "I don't think Mr. Thurman went to pick up his phone in a very friendly manner."
"But he was promised his phone, so why would he have been unfriendly to the defendant?" Blitzo asked grinning.
"I think he must have seen something that didn't agree with him when he got there." J suggests.
"Well, then Miss. J…What was this 'something' that didn't agree with the witness?" Maccadam asked.
"Take that!" J said after using the Court Record to present Taka's profile and said "What Mr. Thurman saw was…the victim."
"T-The…The victim?!" Bltizo asked nervous "You mean Kiyotaka Ishimaru?!"
"Kiyotaka Ishimaru had gone on his date right after his shift was over." J explained "With no time to change, he went to the park still wearing his police trooper uniform!"
"Oh!" Maccadam said surprised.
We flashback to that scene and the caller Chaz watching said "The female drone that picked up my phone is with a police trooper!"
"He couldn't have known they were going out so he began to worry" J explained. "He was afraid the police trooper would ask a few questions before returning the phone."
"If I do anything suspicious he might run a check on my phone…" Past Chass said
"In his mind, it was possible they had already run a check on the phone!" J explained further.
Maccadam shakes his head when returned to the present and said "And he went into a panic, is what you're saying?"
J nods and said "Exactly." She slams her hands down "Officer Taka was murdered simply because he was in uniform!"
The made the audience murmur and Maccadam slams his gavel to quite them down and said "Mr. Bltiz. Do you have any comments?"
"I, um…I'm thinking…" Bltizo said unsure.
"Hmm, is seems the truth has come out at last." Maccadam said nodding. "The witness…Mr. Thurman, you are…"
Chaz looking down chuckles and then madly laughs like a maniac as he eyes looked demented then then said looking to the groun "Hahahaha…Impressive…Not bad for a drone with a third-rate education…"
"What's that supposed to mean?!" J asked glaring at the shark demon.
"The evidence….Evidence!" Chaz said to them.
"Uugh! That shark is really creeping me out…" Jaden admits.
"All you've been waving around and talking about is that 'suspicious' cell phone." Chaz tells them "Suspicious phone number this, suspicious con group that! They're all that phone! But who's to say that phone is really mine?! Where's your proof?! Your evidence?!"
"You want proof that this phone is yours?" J asked him holding the phone.
Chaz laughs madly and said "I already told you earlier!" He holds up a similar phone he showed earlier "That phone I lost…I've already found it! You don't have even the slightest idea who the phone in your hand belongs to! But you can be sure it isn't mine, you simplebot!"
"WHAT?!" J said in shock and sweats. The audience murmur at this in surprise.
"Hehehehe….Heh…Hehehehe…It feels good to see you squirm like pray." Chaz said chuckling madly.
"Hmm…We do seem to have a problem on our hands with this phone." Maccadam admits. "Whose phone, is it? Without knowing that, it's meaningless as evidence."
"Y-Your Honor!" J said slaming her hands down but thinks sweating 'This is bad…I can't let him turn the tables on me like this! Hmmm…This cell phone…There has to be something I've overlooked. There's got to be! Hmmm…Maybe…' She then said "I got it! We should check for fingerprints!"
"Finger…prints…?" Maccadam asked.
"Yes, Your Honor. Mr. Thurman must have left some prints on this phone!" J said.
"J! Don't you remember?!" Jaden said to J "When you got that from V, you wipped it off!"
"I what?! J said shocked.
"You said there was sand all over it, so…" Jaden explained.
"W-Wiped it? I wiped it…?" J said in shock.
"Pretty thoroughly, too…" Jaden added.
Chaz lets out a mad laugh but then clears his throat as he composes himself and said "It's oh-so-much fun watch third-rate trash babble like morons amongst themselves!"
'Aaargh! He's made a complete recovery…' J thinks sweating.
"How many times do I have to say this: my phone is right here! You see?" Chaz said showing the phone in his possession again. "On, and incidentally, you can't check the numbers stored on this phone." She smirks shrugging "It must have glitched because all the numbers just magically disappeared!"
'You've got to be joking! He erased all the numbers I was going to use as evidence!' J thinks annoyed and said "Mr. Thurman…"
"What's this?" Chaz asked her. "By the tone of your voice, it sounds like you still have some fight left in you."
"Where did you finally find your cell phone?!" J asked him.
Chaz remains silent then lets out "…Heh, heh, heh…Ah hahahahahaha! Oh, you are too much!" He laughs and said "And of course you have no idea what I'm talking about!"
J looks confused then her LED screen flashes and a message read 'Memory Recovery: 100% complete' and J LED eyes widen as she said "I…I…Oh my p….NOW I REMEMBER!"
We then flash back to the start where J woke up to the phones creepy ringtone but then is stops
"Huh…looks like they hung up." J said looking at the phone.
"Ah, good. I finally found it." A voice around the corner said as we see a figure holding a fire extinguisher which was Chaz, it ends with Chaz whacking J with said extinguisher.
We return to present and J thinks glaring at Chaz 'So that's when…'
Chaz smirks and shrugs saying "What's wrong, Miss. Attorney? Why the harsh glare in your eyes…?"
"J! We've worked so hard to get this far, but if you don't do something quick, he's going to get off scot-free!" Jaden said to J.
"I know." J said nodding and looks at the phone 'I know this phone has to be his…But how am I supposed to prove something like that?!'
Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "Miss. J. If you cannot prove who the owner of that cell phone is, your indictment has no basis, and therefore, no power. It looks like you came up a penny short."
'Where…? Where did I go wrong…?' J thinks
Chaz smirks and shrugs as he said "Don't blame yourself; you're merely a third-rate lawyer. You only made one big mistake. Who are you? What are you? That's something you haven't figured out for yourself yet."
'Who…I am?' J thinks
Maccadam slams his gavel and said "The court hereby concludes the cross-examination!"
"Heh, heh, heh…" Chaz chuckles "If that will be all, I'll have to bid you gentleman and ladies goodbye. I have a reservation at that ultra-fancy restaurant on the upper side of town."
"Thank you for your assistance." Bltizo said grinning "You've sure had a stressful day, so please, bon appetite and all that!"
'What am I supposed to do?! Am I supposed to just let it go at that?' J thinks and decides she won't and raise an objection saying "Hold it! Please wait, Your Honor!" This stuns everyone and Chaz looks annoyed.
"Alright, J!" Jaden said smiling.
"I think I may be able to prove it!" J said thinking.
"'Prove it…?' Prove what, Miss. J?" Maccadam asked.
"Everything!" J said smiling.
"Objection!" Bltizo called out worried and said "Y-Your Honor! The cross-examination has already ended! Besides, the defence is just going to badger the witness with more inane questions…"
"You will not harass the witness. Is that clear, Miss. J?" Maccadam told J.
Chaz smirks and said "Did you hear that? No harassment allowed, Miss. Attorney.
J slams her hands down and said "Please, Your Honor!"
Maccadam thinks for a moment then said nodding "Very well. But this is your last chance, Miss. J." J looks at this "You may present one piece of evidence to the court."
'I only get one shot at this!' J thinks to herself
"If you cannot 'prove' everything…It's over. For your client, and for you." Maccadam told her. "Do you fully understand?"
J nods and said "Yes, your hon…."
"Objection!" Bltizo called out sweating nervous as he was having flashback to last time as he said "I'm sure you are well aware, Your Honor, but the cross-examination period has ended!"
Maccadam shakes his head and said "Were you paying attention, Mr. Blitz? I said that Miss. J could only present only one more piece of evidence."
"Oh…" Bltizo said awkwardly.
"Now then, Miss. J. This is your last chance." Maccadam said looking at J.
'It all comes down to this! It's Go time!' J thinks to herself.
"Please present the one piece of evidence that will explain everything!" Maccadam said as the Baliff Purge Trooper goes to get it from J.
"Take that!" J said as she presents J's Business Card.
Maccadam upon getting it smiles and said "Why, thank you. How nice. Here, please have one of mine." He hands his own business card to the Baliff who gives it to J and for some reason Judge's Business Card gets added to the Court Record. "Wait, what am I doing?! This isn't the time to be exchanging business cards!"
"Your Honor. There is something very important about that card. And this is…" J said and slams her hands down and said "This card is important because of what is on the back!"
"Hmm? You wrote your cell phone number on the back but…" Jaden said confused.
"But that's exactly it." J said to him. "Can you please call this number from your cell phone?"
"Huh? Right now?! But court is still in session!" Jaden said to that.
"It's okay. You'll see." J said with a confidant smile.
"Okay, if you say so." Jaden said pulling out his red duel monsters cellphone with the White Ranger wrist strap and calls the number.
"Is the defence preparing something, Miss. J?" Maccadam asked confused.
"We are going to call my cell phone now." J told him and smiles saying "And then the court will see everything for what it is!"
"O-Of all the idiotic, stupid things to…" Chaz said really annoyed but then the courtroom was filled with a ringtone, one of the theme song to the White Ranger TV series, it was coming from none other then Chaz's own pocket "Aaag!" Chaz lets out chocking himself in shock. "Wh-What?! Why is my phone…? And what is with this stupid-sounding ringtone?!" The ringtone then hangs up.
"Mr. Thurman." J said looking at the shark demon who looks at her nervous "Hmmm…How strange…I could almost swear that you're holding MY phone!" She smirks
"Y-Your…" Chaz said angry and annoyed and chockes himself as he lets out "AAAAAAAAH! No, no, no, no! It's can't…!"
"By the way, before I forget, thank you very much for the dent on my head this morning." J said smirking.
"Nnnnngh…" Chaz lets out.
"I don't think in need to explain any further, except to say: When you went to retrieve your cell phone, you mistakenly took the wrong one!" J told him slamming her hands down.
Organ music plays as Chaz breaks down letting out a loud scream as he chokes himself with his scarf so fight he turns blue in his face and collapses onto the ground passing out.
A while later as the Purge Troopers drag the unconscious Chaz out of the room, J explained everything that happened before the trial started and why Chaz ended up with J's phone.
"So that is what happened. You were knocked out by Mr. Thurman…" Maccadam said nodding.
"He is a shark who lives on his pride and self-image alone." J said to him. "And in order to hide his involvement with the con artists' group, he has become paranoid, and has lost all ability to make rational judgements."
"Hmm…" Maccadam lets out shaking his head.
"Then…Then, Miss. J…The phone you're holding…" Blizto asked concerned.
J holds up and plays the creepy ringtone as she said "It's Mr. Thurman's naturally."
"Speaking of that shark, how is he, Mr. Bltiz?" Maccadam asked.
"Ah, he was arrested and has been taken away, Your Honor." Btlizo said nodding.
"Very well." Maccadam said nodding. "Now then, this court finds defendant, Serial Designation V…NOT GUILTY" The audience cheers as confetti rains down into the room. He bangs his gavel and says "That is all. This court is adjourned!"
September 8, 2:16 PM, District Court, Defendant Lobby No. 1
J and Jaden returned to the lobby to meet with V who was smiling happy with stars for her LED eyes as she said to J "I knew that the real you would shine through eventually! I am so moved by what you've done for me, ma'am!" She salutes "Thank you so much, Miss. J!"
"I feel really bad for Taka." Jaden said sadly "He didn't do anything to deserve this…"
"…It's probably because of me…" V said sadly.
"Huh?" J said confused.
"My whole life has been nothing but a whirlwind of bad luck and failures." V admits.
"Your whole life? It can't be THAT bad, can it?" Jaen said surprised.
"Since I was 6 months old in activation, when I fell from the ninth floor of my apartment building, I've been hit by all sorts of vehicles, gotten sick from all sorts of energon based foods, failed at almost every test I've ever taken, experience almost every kind of disaster, and never won or even tied at a game of tic-tac-toe!" V lists off. "My life has really been nothing but a string of disasters."
"That is, uh…pretty bad…" J said to that.
"Up until I went to college, I was known as the 'Goddess Drone of Misfortune'." V added smiling. "And then, at the academy, everyone called me 'Lady Drone Luckless'."
"'Lady Drone Luckless'…" Jaden said surprised.
"What's worse is that my misfortune always seems to latch onto those around me." V said sadly.
"What do you mean?" Jaden asked.
"When I see someone in trouble, I always try to help…" V began to explain.
"Ah, that's right. You were talking about this earlier." J said thinking on it.
"It happened again recently too, ma'am" V told her. "There was an old lady pacing back and forth by the pedestrian crosswalk. I gave her my hand and…before I knew it, we were having dinner at my house."
"…Oh" Jaden said to that.
"I'm sure that Taka's gone because of me…" V said sadly.
"That's not true!" Jaden told her.
"That glove didn't even have any sort of special meaning." V told them. "It was just a present to say thanks for covering one of my night shifts."
"Oh, I see…" Jaden said nodding.
"Everything is all my fault! Taka's death, your head being all messed up…" V said looking at J.
"Uh, well I don't think my head is that messed up yet…" J said rubbing her head.
V salutes and said "I'm going to find a new life for myself starting now. The next time we meet, I'm sure I'll…I'm sure I'll have found a whole ocean's worth of good luck by then, ma'am!"
"Yeah. After all, the 'Goddess Drone of Misfortune' is only a name!" J said with a smile.
"You bet! I'm going to make it! I promise!" V said nodding. "Next time we meet, I'll only be an 'Unlucky Drone', instead of a goddess!"
"Y-Yeah! That's the spirit!" J said to that.
"Well, Miss. J, Jaden, I should get going." V said with a smile.
"Okay! Good luck to you!" Jaden said smiling.
V gives one last salute and said "Thanks! You take care of yourselves, too!" With that she walks off.
J sighs and sits on the couch saying "What a horrible day…I've gotten my memory back, but things are still a little fuzzy…" Her memory recovery had some glitches in it so some things were really back yet.
"But you're okay, and that's what counts." Jaden said to her smiling "You really had me worried! Come on, let's go back to the office."
'Hmmm…I'm afraid to ask, but here goes…' J said and looks at Jaden asking "So, this might sound bad, but…uh…Who are you?"
"What?!" Jaden said getting angry "I thought you said you got your memory back!"
We then enter J's mind palace fully let up again and fixed as J in it writes and thinks 'At that moment, everything really did come back to me...'
J looks at a screen and N appears on it as she said "Detective N…He's someone I've had clashes with in the past during certain cases. But he's also been a good ally during others."
The screen changes to show Maccadam as J said "Judge Maccadam…He's a lovable, kind old bot that may or may not be a former prime, he is also easily swayed by other people's opinions. But in the end, he always comes up with the right verdict."
The screen changes to Bltizo and J just stares at it and said "…This person…I haven't got a clue…He seems to know me, but maybe he's mistaking me for someone else…?"
We then leave the mind and return to Jaden glaring at J as she thinks 'And this boy…' She then said outloud "…Jaden…?"
"You…You finally remembered!" Jaden said teary eyed and smiles
J smiles and thinks 'This is Jaden Yuki, my assistant. That's right…I have so many unforgettable memories about him. For example…'
"Earth to J! What's wrong?" Jaden asked smiling. "You keep staring at me! Don't tell me you've missed me?"
"Uhb, well, yeah I suppose I have." J said rubbing her head as fas as we know last time they were together was after the DL-6 case where Jaden left to continue his Keyblade Warrior training. "I feel like I haven't seen you in ages."
"Oh?" Jaden said to that "Well, I'm back now. So it's time for use to create new memories together!"
"Alright. Sounds good." J said with a nod and looks at the phone she got back from the Purge Troopers 'All the phone numbers on my phone were erased by Mr. Thurman. I guess I have to start over from the very beginning…'
"Come on J! Let's go to our usual burger joint!" Jaden told her.
"Okay, okay." J said to that but thinks 'Actually, it hasn't even been that long since he came back into my life.' She closes her eyes as she thinks 'And that story…That story began on one rainy afternoon, two months ago…'

Well J's memories are back and Jaden is back but how did the two reunite. We will find out next episode, get ready for it.
