Gathering Information

June 19, Keyblade Village

J walks out and sees Todd still outside the house looking worried and thinks 'He's probably scared out of his wits after having a murder take place right by him.' She then said "Todd?"

"AHDON'TLETITBEMENEXT!" Todd lets out loudly and very fast suddenly

"Eek! Don't scare me like that!" J jumps in surprised

"What do you mean?! You're the one scaring me!" Todd told her. "If I weren't so tough, you'd have another dead body on your hands….mine!"

"Okay, by the way did you see or notice anything that stuck out at you?" J asked him.

"Nah…Well, maybe one thing…" Todd said thinking.

"What is it?!" J asked him.

"Turns out my poor stomach's not good at handling this kind of thing." Todd admits

"Huh-what?" J said confused.

"Curses and ghosts and stuff coming back to get you…This is just too much, I say." Todd explained rubbing his head.

"What is too much?" J asked still confused.

"Being an occult photographer." Todd said. "That's some scary stuff, so I think I'm going to try being a celebrity photographer, now."

"Going after photos more within you reach from now on? More glamour, less gore?" J said smiling, but then notices Todd being silent deep in thought. "What's up?"

"Oh yeah!" Todd said realization.

"Wh-What is it?" J said surprised.

"I took some hot pictures earlier!" Todd said smiling.

"Huh?" J said confused.

"Remember?! I took some pictures at the murder scene inside!" Todd explained to her.

'Ack! He did! Two even!' J thinks remembering.

"'The Séance Murder'…I sure like the ring of that. It'll be a sensational story!" Todd said thinking about it.

"T-Todd!" J said not liking the look in his eyes.

"Sorry, but my journalistic sense is burning inside me!" Todd told her "Hate to cut and run, but I'm heading back in! Got to beat those cops on the scoop of the century!" He then runs off back inside laughing excited.

'I don't know who's scarier…Todd or the spirits…' J thinks sweat dropping. 'And why does it feel like we've been through this before…?' She then goes to the Side room remembering someone was sleeping their.

June 19, Yuki Manor, Side Room

'Hmmmm, I'm pretty sure there was someone sleeping here earlier…' J thinks upon walking into the room.

"Um, how can I help you?" A female voice asked

"Ack! Ah, I'm, unh…That is…I…" J jumps at the sudden voice and looks to see a woman in the room.

She was a long red-haired schoolgirl in a white dress shirt under a beige button-down sweater with vertical lines, white socks with black lining and orange loafers and a checkered skirt. She also wore black glasses.

"Um, is it about time to start?" The red-haired girl asked.

"Huh? Time to start what?" J asked confused

"The channelling that is happening here." The girl said.

"Channeling…?" J said confused then realizes "Oh, oh, oh, oh! No, actually, the situation has kind of changed…"

"Huh? What do you mean?" The girl asked.

"Please stay calm, but…there has been a murder!" J told them

The girl thinks and says "So, um…A murder is that thing where one person kills another, right?"

"Yes! A person has killed another person!" J said with a nod.

"Oh, that's…Hmmm.,..What are the words I'm looking for…? I think…really bad." The girl said after some thoughts.

"…Yeah…" J said flatly and thinks 'After all that effort, that's all she had to say?'

"Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot to introduce myself." The girl said and bows "My name is Sumire Yoshizawa. At the college, I'm researching and studying 'Parapsychology'."

"'Parapsychology'?" J asked confused.

"That's right." Sumire said with a nod. "I believe the more common term people use for it is 'occult studies' or something. For example, stuff like supernatural phenomenon, ESP and psychic powers. That kind of thing."

'That's pretty out there…' J thinks and said "I'm Serial Designation J, attorney at law. So, what brings you here today?"

"Well…I was the one who told Dr. Strange about this place." Sumire explained "He asked me, 'Do you know of a Keyblade Warrior?'"

'Hmm, Dr. Strange did say something about being introduced to this place.' J thinks on it

"Because, you see, talking to dead people and multiple personalities are my thing…" Sumire continued.

"I see…Then why were you taking a nap here?" J asked her.

"Well…I wasn't feeling good." Sumire admits embarrassed

"Huh?" J said surprised.

"I'm actually allergic to sesame seeds." Sumire explained "They must've put some in the food they served for lunch."

"Oh, that doesn't sound fun." J said to that.

"So, I, like, felt sick, and came in here to sleep." Sumire added "I really feel like I've wasted my time because I slept a long time."

"So, you were sleeping here the entire time?" J asked her.

"Yeah. Ever since lunch…" Sumire said with a nod.

"So, you don't know anything about the murder that took place?" J asked her.

"Like, what? Oh that! I definitely know nothing." Sumire said to that. "So who was, well you know, the one killed…?"

"The surgeon that requested the channelling, Dr. Hugo Strange." J told her. Sumire hearing that remained silent "You and Dr. Strange knew each other, right?"

Sumire in a panic, fiddles with her glasses and composes saying quickly "I don't know any Dr. Strange!"

"Oh really…?" J said surprised at that "Then what was all that talk about him earlier?"

"Huh?! …Well, uh…" Sumire said more panicked "Well, a long, long time ago…I was like, a patient, yeah."

'She sounds like she's trying to hide something…' J thinks on it but given she is unable to figure out how to get the truth from her heads back into the Winding Way.

June 19, Yuki Manor, Winding Way

J walks through it and thinks looking around 'There's no one here…as usual.' But stops as suddenly appear was Kairi "Ack! …H-Hey…How are you?"

Kairi just stares at J silently.

"You're Kairi, right?" J asked her. Kairi remains silent 'Hmmm. Silent as ever…' she thinks but then sees something red and black in Kairi's hand '…? What's that she's got in her hand? I've seen it somewhere before…' She then asked "Um…" Kairi then gets surprised look on her face and runs off '…What is it?! Is it my pigtail hair? Is it too professional? Not professional enough?!'

J sighs and goes to check on N and see what he has uncovered with his investigation and what info she can get out of him.

June 19, Yuki Manor, Channeling Chamber

J enters and sees N in the room with other Police troopers who arrived a while ago. She thinks 'The police troopers are busily running here and there, and I don't see Jaden anywhere…'

"H-Hey, you! Don't touch anything!" N said coming over to her.

"Look, I really need to ask you some questions!" J said to N serious.

"Ummm…Don't look at me like I'm some sort of uncaring jerk…" N said sadly. "Tell you what, buddy. I'll let you ask me a few questions, alright?"

J nods then asks "Um, about Jaden…"

"I hate to break this to you, buddy, but…with the way things look now, that boy's the only one who could've done it." N said sadly.

'Yeah. Only Jaden and the victim were inside this room, after all…' J thinks on it but said "But Jaden is…"

"You can ask more about him later, buddy." N said to her. "Right now, I've got a job to do and that's collecting evidence."

'Detective N looks like a real professional. And yet, something about his expression still looks the same…' J thinks surprised. She then asked "So…. Dr. Strange was shot with a gun, huh?"

"He was shot in the forehead." N said with a nod. "But…"

"But…?" J asked him.

"But he was also stabbed in the chest with a knife." N points out

'…A knife?' J thinks surprised.

"Basically, the vic was first stabbed, then he was shot." N explained.

J nods and then with no other questions and unable to explore the room heads back out into the Meditation room.

June 19, Yuki Manor, Meditation Room

As J walks out, she sees Xehanort talking with Sumire, Jaden's uncle saying to the girl "Oh, dear madam…you have such impeccable timing."

"So, what's all the buzz?" Sumire asked him.

"Ahem. Alright everyone, listen up! You too, buddy!" N said coming out of the channeling chamber. "I'm going to give you all a brief update! Right now, it looks like the investigation's not going to be done until real late…"

"That is a terrible shame." Xehanort said and sips some tea. "I propose that everyone sleep here under the roof of the Yuki Manor tonight."

J sighs in her mind palace as she thinks to herself 'What a mess. I can't believe this day turned out…Jaden was arrested and taken away by the poilice troopers. And I don't see myself getting any sleep tonight…'

June 20, 8:02 AM, Yuki Manor, Meditation Room

We then come to the next day where J streatches having woken up and yawns and thinks 'Uuuugh...Morning….I guess I must have nodded off at some point…I hope Jaden's okay. I should hurry and get to the Detention Centre ASAP!'

She then gets herself sorted out and leaves the manor and deploys her wings and flies to the train station.

June 20, 10:34 AM, Detention Centre, Visitor's Room

J sits in the visitor's room of the familiar Detention Centre, it was same as always with a camera and a lone police scout trooper guard.

Jaden arrives tears in his eyes as he said "J…. J! J! I…!"

"Jaden!" J said to him.

"What am I going to do?!" Jaden said sadly. "I never imaged it would turn out like this!"

"Calm down, Jaden! Take deep breaths." J told him. She then thinks looking at him 'Come to think of it, the first time I met him…It all started right here, in this detention centre…'

"I finally…" Jaden said sadly. "I finally get to see you again, and…"

"It's not your fought. You didn't do it." J told him.

"No, I…I did it…I killed that person." Jaden said sighing.

"But that wasn't you." J said to him.

"It doesn't matter. It might as well have been me." Jaden said looking down. "I was too weak…and I…I couldn't control the spirit's power, so…"

'I don't want to bring up the case quite yet, but…' J thinks on it.

"…You don't have to be nice to me. I understand." Jaden told her.

"So, you're the Master or something of the Keyblade Warrior School of Channeling…?" J asked him.

"Actually, my father is for now." Jaden states sadly. "But since that title is passed from parent to child, I guess I will be someday…"

"But many people think that channelling isn't real, that it's all just an act." J points out.

"You believe in us, don't you?" Jaden asked her.

"Yeah…because I've seen it with my own eyes." J said having seen Jaden turn into Terra several times during the cases they worked together. She thinks 'When Jaden's channelling a spirit…not only his voice, but his whole physical appearance changes. It's supernatural phenomenon that occurs every time.' J thinks back to the murder scene and seeing Jaden possessed by the nurse's spirit 'It happened this time too…Dr. Strange said that he wanted to call the nurse, so…Jaden's body must have taken on that nurse's appearance…'

J then asked, "What exactly happened in the Channeling Chamber?"

Jaden begins to recount, we see a flashback where Hugo Strange was in a praying position head down eyes closes, Jaden sat holding his red and silver keyblade Neo Slifer in a meditative position.

Jaden begins to say, "I went into that room with Dr. Strange, locked the door…and sat down across from him."

"Okay…" J said nodding following

"We closed our eyes...and I clutched my keyblade and began the channeling." Jaden explained.

'This is sounding kind of creepy…like the beginning of a scary story…' J thinks on it.

"And that's the last thing I remember…" Jaden said sighing.

"What?" J said surprised.

"After a spirit comes into my body, I lose my self, my consciousness." Jaden explained sadly.

"Then, you don't remember a single thing?" J asked him.

"When I came to, I was being held in my uncle's arms." Jaden added to that. Teary eyed he said, "And there was blood…all over my clothes."

'Hmmm…' J thinks

"Oh! But…I do remember having a dream." Jaden said recalling

"A dream…?" J said surprised "What kind of dream did you have while you were channeling…?"

"Um…I can't remember it all that well, but…" Jaden said thinking "I was dead and buried in the ground. I couldn't move…and it was unbearable…Really suffocating…it went something like that."

"I…I see…" J said to that to think 'I have no idea what to say to that…'

"There was a really familiar smell too…" Jaden said thinking on it.

"Under the ground?" J asked.

"Yeah, I can't quite place it, but I know I've smelled that same scent before…" Jaden said smiling.

J thinks to herself '…I guess this is about all the information I'm going to gather for today…' She then said "I'll be back later, Jaden. In the meantime, please make sure you prepare it, okay?"

"Huh? 'It'? What is 'it'?" Jaden asked confused.

"The document requesting me to be your attorney, of course." J said to him.

Jaden was surprised at that and said "But…"

"What's wrong?" J asked him.

"Are you sure? I mean, I'm guilty! I'm a murderer!" Jaden said looking down.

"No one's decided that yet." J said to him.

"But I did! I killed that person…with these…two hands…!" Jaden said looking at his hands.

"That's enough, Jaden." J told him getting annoyed

"It's hopeless! If you defend me, you'll lose, I'm sure…" Jaden tells her.

"Stop it!" J yells at him making even the stoic scout trooper guard jump at that.

Jaden tears up and said shaking nervous "…. Help me…J, help me…I'm scared…"

"Don't worry, I will. When is the trial?" J asked him.

"It sounds like tomorrow." Jaden said sadly.

'As usual, zero prep time…' J thinks with a sigh. She then said "Alright, I'm going now."

"Wait." Jaden said stopping her leaving. He then pulls out his pocket and passes through the gap in the window a keychain, it was a black circle with a yellow symbol on it of a three arrow pronged from a central Hexagon through unlike Jaden's for Neo Slifer it wasn't shining but dull "This keychain…it is similar to ones that keyblade wielders use to summon their keyblades, this one is called Logic Solver. It was made after I returned to the village and like others it's magical and it's always protected me as I held onto it. Give it to Kairily…And I'm sure she'll lend you her spiritual powers."

J nods and puts it in her chest pocket and the Court Record added Logic Solver to itself. J then said her goodbyes and leaves heading first back to her office.

June 20, J & Co. Law Offices

J walks in and wipes her brow, she said to herelf as she checks on Terra's Piranha Plant Petey "Phew. It feels like I've been gone forever. But it's only been one day…"

She then thinks and remembers 'Oh, that's right!' She looks around the office "Where's that newspaper Dr. Strange brought the other day…?" She then finds it and picks it up "…Ah, here it is. Right on top of my desk."

She then thinks 'This is the only thing he left behind that's going to be of any help…' She adds it to the court record. "Hold down the fort for me Petey, I will be back soon and don't worry, Jaden will be alright."

She then leaves to head back to Keyblade Village.

Well J has some time so have to get some more evidence and information ready for the trial, also the Logic Solver takes the place of the Magotama for this series as a reminder.
