Hey everyone! We're back for another installment of "Omni Force: ORIGINS"! We've gotten through eight different stories so far, and this one's probably going to be one of the craziest, since we'll be featuring another particular character who won't be looked at closely for a while. But let's go ahead and talk about the character featured for this chapter!
Natsu Dragneel was one of those characters that I didn't really understand at first, given his brashness and boisterous attitude. Not to mention how he'd always be so reckless. He was a fun character, though. And how he cares about his friends was something I hadn't really experienced with any series unlike Fairy Tail before.
That being said, what I really appreciate about Natsu is that willingness to fight for his friends. He's put his life on the line plenty of times, coming out swinging and winning with all of his strength. I think that's part of why I liked Fairy Tail so much when I was getting into it.
And I made plenty of stories and ships around the series, all starting with him. Now I get to go into more when it comes to his story as a character in this series. I know we already touched upon what his origin was in terms of getting to meet the Omni Force, but this story's gonna be more about his first experience in the greater multiverse. Hope you guys enjoy!
OMNI FORCE: ORIGINS
Why hello everyone. It's been a while, hasn't it? Well, maybe it hasn't been that long for you…
We've gone through so many stories of Omni Force members so far, how they've fared from meeting those around the multiverse to becoming friends to even starting grand relationships. And so far, we've kept our stories close to those respective universes, provided some exceptions.
This story here is about to be one of the first big exceptions. Let's talk about Natsu Dragneel, shall we? A child raised by the Fire Dragon Igneel, Natsu became one of the most feared wizards in all of Earthland, known as a Dragon Slayer. From his guild, Fairy Tail, he became one of their more notorious wizards, causing all sorts of mayhem while doing jobs on their behalf. From the countless friends he made to the battles he fought, he was considered one of the elites.
Yet after one fateful encounter with Ben Tennyson and the rest of his multiversal companions, he was hoping to make himself even stronger for his guild by accompanying them. Through much convincing and friendly banter, he became a part of their little troupe. And soon enough, he'd find himself in the midst of a battle in which he'd come to face in his own universe…
UNIVERSE-3639
Amidst the foggy alcoves and rocky waters, a green portal appeared suddenly, causing a flock of birds to fly off in fright. Stepping out from it first was Ben, dressed in his hoodie as he looked around. A chuckle left his lips.
"Well, if nothing else, we can go wherever we want first…" he pointed out, turning to the rift still open behind him, "What's your nose say, Natsu?" he inquired of the person stepping out. He was a lean, muscular young man of average height with a slightly tan skin tone, black eyes, spiky pink-colored hair, and had abnormal sharp canines. His guild mark was red and was located just below his right shoulder.
He wore an open-collared, one-sleeved long overcoat waistcoat, which was tucked in and zipped. The sleeve covered his left arm with a faux-leather brown armband, leaving his mark, as well as his entire right arm, consequently exposed. He also wore a wristband on his right wrist. He donned a gold trimmed, black cloth around his waist that reached his knees, held by a leather brown belt with an oval-shaped silver buckle, white knee-length trousers with black ribbon ties, black open-toed sandals and a scale-patterned white scarf.
"Whoa…" he uttered out… before toppling over face first onto the ground.
"Natsu!" Ben yelped, jogging over to him, only to hear the sickly groan coming from the Dragon Slayer.
"Oh, man…" he groaned, "I don't wanna do that again…" he grumbled out.
"Are… you okay?" Ben asked, "I mean, I know the guys at the guild said you got carsick or something, but I didn't a hop through a portal would… uh…" he continued, stopping himself as he saw the wizard slowly roll himself over onto his back. He looked up at the cloudy, foggy sky overhead.
"Alright!" he bellowed, hopping up onto his feet, "We're finally in another universe!" he exclaimed while putting his hands onto his hips.
"That was fast…" Ben muttered aloud, closing the portal by pressing the center icon of his MPG, "Anyway, wanna pick a direction?" he offered to the Dragon Slayer, getting his attention.
"Yeah, sure!" he responded, sniffing around for a moment, "Hmmm…" he hummed out, "Smells like something's up that way…" he noted, pointing into the foggy distance.
"Okay, we'll start there," the Omnitrix bearer decided, activating the device at his wrist as he pressed his fingers against its lid, causing a holographic wheel to appear over it. As he scrolled through the icons of his transformations, Natsu blinked.
"Uh… can't we just walk there…?" he inquired, sounding uneasy.
"Dude, I know you can hear the water splashing around wherever we are," Ben pointed out, sliding the lid of the Omnitrix forward as its dial popped up, "We're flying for a bit, whether you like it or not," he confirmed.
"…I should've brought Happy…" the Dragon Slayer muttered in realization. Moments later, he was looking rather sickly in the face again as he was being carried through the air by an alien that resembled a cross between a pterodactyl and a glider. He had a large yellow beak-like mouth, green eyes, red skin, black-and-green clothing on his shoulders and waist, green braces around his wrists and ankles, and small, yellow, retractable wings that resembled a glider in appearance, which were connected to a 'jetpack'-like structure on his back. He also bore the Omnitrix symbol on his left shoulder.
"So, what'd you smell?" he asked of the pale-faced Natsu.
"Uh… I think smoke and something else…" he answered, "I think I hear yelling and roaring close by, too…" he mentioned.
"Roaring?" Astrodactyl repeated as they flew over a burnt-down forest before soaring above the ocean, spotting a large and piercing structure of ice, which had large protruding icicles spiking from it, "Whoa…" the pterosaur-like alien uttered out in shock, noticing the ruined things caught up in the mass of ice, being ships, boats, and the remains of what looked to have been a wooden fort. Natsu weakly looked out at the structure himself, quite surprised as well. But then his nose twitched as he picked up another scent. And he could hear yelling and roaring. He looked over and spotted a group of people nearby, dressed in garb that was similar to vikings. But that wasn't all he noticed.
There was a creature there. He had jet-black scales covering his whole body. His sides and wings had small light patches in a pattern similar to that of a manta ray. He possessed two sets of wings, one main pair and one smaller pair near the base of his tail. At the end of his tail, he had one natural tail fin at his right, while a red mechanical fin was at his left side, donning it along with a saddle. He had a large scar on his right shoulder to his neck, being around a foot in length with the width of about an inch. His eyes were bright green.
"Is that…?" Natsu uttered, his eyes slowly widening. He could see a group perched above the dragon being surrounded with a net launcher at the ready, prepared to strike while the two people beside him were distracted from talking with one of the men. Instinctively, he let go of Astrodactyl's arms.
"Wh-?! Natsu?!" he squawked out, seeing him fall toward the men about to attack. Flames enveloped his arms as he closed in.
"Fire Dragon…" he started to bellow, causing everyone below to perk up and turn to see him coming, widening their eyes, "Wing Attack!" he roared, swinging his arms down onto the net launcher to smash it to burning pieces, blowing back all of the men by it in yells as they fell. He then hopped onto the ground, landing in front of the black dragon while his arms were still enflamed.
"What the…?" the man leading the group in front of him uttered in shock. He was a tall, broad-framed man with beefy arms marred with scars. He boasted a light blue tattoo on his chin and neat dark brown hair, with two bangs draped in front of his ears. He wore a beige-white and white tunic under a thick, sleeveless fur vest with a metal owl brooch pinned on it. Two sheaths hung from his thick waistband, one behind his waist, and the other at his left side. He also wore two grey fur wristbands.
"His arms are on fire!" one of his men exclaimed in shock.
"I can see that…" Eret muttered out, "Who are you?" he asked.
"That's what we'd like to know, too…" another voice chimed in behind the Dragon Slayer, causing him to turn and see two other people there. One was a girl with mid-back length blonde hair that is styled in a braid down her back with fringes that were cut short and side-swept. She wore a side braid behind her ear and she has also stopped wearing kohl around her eyes. She donned blue shirt, having a spiked red skirt, wearing shoulder guards and skull clips with brown leather holster straps holding them in place across her upper chest and arm wrappings. She also had brown leather knee pads over her leggings.
The one beside her was a young man that had bell-shaped auburn hair parting to his right with freckles on his cheeks and dull, green eyes. One of his more unique traits was a small scar on the right side of his chin. His hair was slightly short and somewhat scraggly and unkempt with two small braids behind his right ear. If one noticed closely, it could be seen that he had stubble on his chin. He seemed to have a strong build, also having a prosthetic left foot that looked mechanical. His outfit consisted of a basic green tunic, tanned leather pants, and leather armor plating along his shoulders and upper chest, along with arm brackets.
Natsu blinked for a moment before looking over at the black dragon alongside them, seeing his soft, cat-like expression that turned into a fierce glare towards his enemies. The Dragon Slayer turned and realized what was making him so angry. Entrapped in a net was another dragon, a very beautiful and bird-like bipedal creature with winged-forelimbs that were about the same size as a medium-sized theropod dinosaur and small, yellow eyes with black pupils.
Her body was a combination of blue, gold, red, purple, and tan with a light beige underbelly. Her main body color was blue; a bright and tropical turquoise. Her wings were mottled with darker shades of blue spots circled by gold, purple and red spots closer to her reddish shoulders. Her underwings were a duller mixture of gold and tan. Her tail was blue and gold, as were the many iconic poisonous spines adorning it. She had small black hooks at the end of her wing joints.
In front of her eyes was a curved nasal horn. Her lower jaw is shorter and wider than the upper, which gave her an overbite. Ringing her skull was a set of spikes and coating the tail was a series of spines. She had small black feathering on the back of her legs and four black claws on her feet.
"I get it…" the Dragon Slayer said in understanding, narrowing his eyes, "Don't worry, I'll get her back," he vowed.
"Oh, is that right?" Eret questioned, letting out a laugh, "Listen to this runt, lads!" he mocked, approaching the pink-haired young man, "So you got some fancy tricks like your friends here…" he noted, pulling out a dagger from the sheath at his waist, "There's only one of you… and many of us," he pointed out, swinging his blade out to strike him. However, Natsu caught it to his shock, along with those of the others, including Astrid and Hiccup. He glared at the dragon trapper.
"I don't see the problem with that…" he growled, melting the blade of the dagger as Eret reflexively let go of it, letting the melted metal fall onto the ground. He growled.
"Rush 'em, lads!" he ordered of the other trappers, enticing them to charge towards the group. However, another figure fell down in front of them. It was a humanoid frog-like alien with three-fingered hands and two-toed feet. He was considerably tall, muscular and pale-skinned with a defined jawline. He whipped his tongue out to trip up the other soldiers, knocking them all down.
"Now I know why your guild gets such a bad rep!" he remarked as he hopped away from getting chopped in half by an axe that was flung toward him, "You always do your own thing and wreck house!" he complained, having his tongue wrap around another trapper and fling him away in a yell.
"And what's wrong with that?!" Natsu argued in question, punching one man to the ground before kicking one more. Hiccup and Astrid traded bewildered looks with each other. However, Toothless watched on with intrigue. He then saw Eret and the others rushing for the Dragon Slayer, making him snarl before he released a purple-colored fireball from his mouth toward one of the icicles above upon the ice mound. It struck, causing it to fall towards the dragon trappers, who took notice. They yelled in panic, jumping away in the nick of time. "Whoa!" the pink-haired young man yelped as he leapt aside. He looked back at the Night Fury, who gave a soft look. In the midst of the chaos, Hiccup took out his Inferno, running over and cutting the netting off of Stormfly.
"Stormfly!" Astrid yelled as she approached her dragon, "C'mon, go! Go!" she insisted, running away with her before jumping aboard her.
"Hey, you guys too!" Hiccup called out to Natsu and Bullfrag, "Uh, guy and…" he tried to correct, "Whatever, let's go!" he yelled to them, waving for them to follow. They shared a look of confusion with each other before running after the pair of dragon riders, with the Dragon Slayer leaping aboard Toothless, while the Incursean got onto Stormfly. They flew off together into the distance, all while Eret took to his feet back below.
"YOU WILL NEVER HOLD ON TO THOSE DRAGONS, YOU HEAR ME?!" he yelled out to the dragon riders, who glanced back at him as he pointed towards them, "DRAGO IS COMING FOR THEM ALL!" he proclaimed. Hiccup gave off an anxious look for a moment before turning his attention back onto the horizon ahead for him and his girlfriend.
"Well that was somethin'…" Bullfrag remarked, seated behind Astrid.
"Ah!" she yelped, swinging her left arm back to hit her dragon's extra passenger repeatedly.
"Ow! Ah! Hey!" he yelped out in between each blow, "Hold! On! A! Sec!" he insisted, smacking the Omnitrix symbol at his collar to envelop himself in a green flash of light, making the young woman flinch for a moment. She was about to strike again until she saw that the Incursean had turned back into Ben.
"See?" he said, "Just a guy…" he noted assuredly as Astrid put her arm down.
"Who are you?" she asked.
"I think the more important question is who were those guys…" Hiccup chimed in, getting their attentions, "They said they were… dragon trappers…" he recalled grimly. Toothless huffed.
"Well whoever they are, I'm not lettin' 'em even lay a finger on another dragon…" Natsu vowed, socking his right fist into his left hand. Everyone looked at him for a moment in surprise, and then Ben blinked.
"Wait, how come you're not getting sick?" he inquired upon noticing that the Dragon Slayer didn't seem nauseous. He looked himself over for a moment before giving off a shrug in response. Toothless glanced back at him, letting out a soft, kind noise. Hiccup noticed curiously, glancing back at Natsu with wonder. Just who was he? And why was the Night Fury already trusting him?
Upon discovering the situation they had involved themselves in, Natsu and Ben joined the dragon riders back to Berk, looking to warn everyone of the trappers and their leader, Drago Bludvist. Hiccup was hoping to resolve things peacefully by showing Drago how didn't need to fight dragons anymore, considering his own experience in helping ensure peace between dragons and humans. But that task would prove easier said than done. And getting it done would be next to impossible…
That is, unless a certain Dragon Slayer wasn't present…
OPENING
Insert "Hero" by Martin Garrix X JVKE
Opens with Natsu Dragneel being brought to the Fairy Tail guild by Makarov Dreyar. There, he gets to meet many faces such as Gray Fullbuster, Erza Scarlet, and many others he'll become close to. Makarov goes ahead and stamps the Fairy Tail guild mark onto Natsu's right shoulder, and he beams excitedly, ready to embark on his journey to become a powerful mage for his guild while also searching for his father, Igneel.
One day, he happens to come across Lucy Heartfilia, helping to save her from some hoodlums before bringing her to the guild. With her, they accomplish more missions together, even bringing both Gray and Erza in on their adventures. Whether it be fighting off Erigor from Eisenwald, helping to stop Lamia Scale on Galuna Island, or even protecting the guild from the likes of Phantom Lord, we see Natsu displaying the full strength of his Fire Dragon Slayer Magic, fighting against powerful opponents like Gajeel Redfox, Lyon Vastia, and many others.
There have been times where he's struggled, such as when he fought against Jellal Fernandes in the effort to protect Erza from him, or when he couldn't fight off Laxus Dreyar on his own. He starts to doubt his own strength, but perseveres as he knows that he has to protect his friends. Days go on with more and more wild adventures happening for the Fire Dragon Slayer, culminating into the trial to become an S-Class Wizard on Tenrou Island.
During that trial, the dark guild known as Grimoire Heart invades the island, attempting to take down each and every one of Fairy Tail's members. Natsu fights off as many of them as he can, between Zancrow, Bluenote, and their master, Hades, he battles on in spite of his fears. And all the while, his friends are right alongside him, even when they fail to stop the likes of Acnologia. They all band together to save themselves from his wrath.
Though they lose seven years of their lives, they return to a rundown guild hall, looking to make it stronger than ever. Natsu glances back and blinks in surprise to find the likes of Ben Tennyson, Naruto Uzumaki, Gingka Hagane, Rex Salazar, and Korra there. From a few friendly sparring matches between the multiversal guests and those of Fairy Tail, Natsu forms a significant bond with all of them. And after a while, he finally gets his MPG, allowing him the opportunity to travel the multiverse like them.
We go through various shots of the Fire Dragon Slayer battling against foes from across the worlds beyond his own, whether that be aliens, marines, or other enemies of the Omni Force. We then see him competing in the Grand Magic Games, teaming up with Gajeel to beat Sting Eucliffe and Rogue Cheney. He then fights the Rogue of the future alongside Naruto and Gingka, combining his flames with a Rasenshuriken to take him down.
The opening winds down with Fairy Tail taking on Tartaros, as Natsu fights against Mard Geer, while his father Igneel faces Acnologia. Though Natsu wins his battle, he pays witness to his father dying at the black dragon's hands. He cries in despair, but vows to one day take out Acnologia for the sake of his family, which is Fairy Tail. We end on a shot of him doing his guild's salute alongside his Omni Force teammates, smiling brightly.

NATSU DRAGNEEL
When Hiccup informed his father about the dragon army being built under Drago, he immediately wanted to fortify the island in preparation for war, looking to ground all dragons until the time was right. However, his son wasn't willing to wait around, and neither was Natsu. They left the island along with Astrid, hoping to face Drago themselves. However, their plans might not pan out as expected…
"Keep your eyes peeled, lads!" Eret called out to his crew as his ship was sailing through the icy ocean waters, as he was standing at the bow, "With this wind, we'll reach Drago by daybreak," he pointed out, "so best we fill this ship up with dragons and quick!" he advised, sauntering back to the deck as his men were gathering their supplies, "It's no time to be picky," he mentioned.
"Uh… Eret?" Ug uttered upon noticing something in the distance.
"Not if we want to keep our—" Eret stopped himself as he looked in the same direction as his crewmate, only to notice both Toothless and Stormfly flying towards them. "HEADS!" he exclaimed in surprise, "Off the port quarter!" he commanded immediately, "Net 'em, lads! Take 'em down!" he ordered on, grabbing some ammunition before heading over to one of the net launchers, loading it up.
"Up on the left!" Teeny yelled, while their leader saw Hiccup, Natsu and Astrid aboard the dragons.
"You're not getting away this time…" he declared with a determined expression, "Fire!" he yelled, launching the net, only for the dragons to evade, along with others shot their way, "Reload!" he called out quickly. However, the Dragon Slayer leapt over mightily, landing hard upon the deck in a three-pointed position. He grinned, enveloping his fist in fire.
"So, you guys wanna get burned that bad, huh?" he assumed of the dragon trappers, who backed away cautiously. At that moment, both Toothless and Stormfly landed aboard the ship. Hiccup removed his wingsuit's helmet, while Astrid grabbed her battle axe.
"And here I was worried we might turn up empty-handed…" Eret remarked as he approached them, drawing a sword. However, Natsu stepped out in front of him, giving off a firm glare.
"Nope. It's your lucky day," Hiccup assured, causing them to perk up with confusion, "We give up," he declared as he held his arms up.
"…Huh?" the Dragon Slayer uttered in confusion, while Eret arched an eyebrow. The master dragon rider disembarked from Toothless.
"That's one Night Fury, one Deadly Nadder and two of the finest dragon riders west of Luk Tuk," he listed off, taking Astrid's battle axe as she came down before throwing a net over her, "Oh, and some guy who can ignite fire from his hands and probably burn you guys to a crisp…" he mentioned as he walked past the lead dragon trapper, shoving the axe for him to take hold of, "But don't worry, he's not gonna do anything," he promised, "This oughta' make the boss happy, right?" he guessed, "Excuse us," he said, pushing aside another man's spear before leading Natsu along with him and his girlfriend into the brig below.
"What are you doing?" she asked in a whisper.
"Yeah, we can totally take these guys and take their ship!" the Dragon Slayer angrily proclaimed. Toothless attempted to follow his friends into the brig, only for his owner to hold his hand out to him.
"Toothless, stay," he advised, making him whine with confusion as the gate for the brig was being closed, "The dragons don't really care for cramped spaces, so they'll just hang out with you," Hiccup noted to the dragon trappers, who were perplexed by what he was up to, "They won't be any trouble," he assured as the Night Fury walked around the brig, only for his enemies to pull their swords and spears on him. Startled for a moment as he jumped, he growled at them. "Unless you do that," his owner said, poking his head up from in between the bars of the live well, "Wooden boat, big ocean…" he pointed out, "How's your swimming?" he inquired of the trappers.
"Not good…" one of them admitted in response, much to Eret's annoyance as he groaned. Just then, the group saw a blade shoot up from the live well, becoming ignited in flames as they jumped back in surprise. The fire dissipated around the blade as it had been thrust up through the grate by Hiccup.
"Oops," he said, pushing aside the hatch to climb up, "Almost forgot," he noted, retracting Inferno's blade, "Can't have armed prisoners," he pointed out, offering his weapon over to the trappers. Teeny cautiously took it.
"How is this a plan?" Astrid whispered in question, while Natsu growled. Hiccup held his hand out to them, silently requesting they be patient for the time being.
"Just what every Dragon Trapper needs," he noted to his foes, "One end coats the blade in Monstrous Nightmare saliva…" he told the group as Teeny was looking over the weapon, accidentally open its pommel as it expelled a greenish gas, "The other sprays Hideous Zippleback gas," the master dragon rider said, lowering himself back into the live wall in precaution "All it takes is a spark and…" he continued as one of the other trappers curiously clicked the lighter upon the device, igniting the gas and causing an explosion to erupt. Hiccup thankfully had ducked as the blast swept over the deck. "Oh, yeah, there you go!" he called out to the group as the smoke settled, "Once they see you as one of their own, even the testiest dragon can be trained," he noted as Toothless was trying to catch one of the leftover sparks from the blast, stumbling back in the process, "right, bud?" he asked of his dragon.
"Give me that!" Eret yelled angrily as he yanked Inferno out of Teeny's hands, tossing it mightily toward the ocean. Stormfly went ahead and chased after it, while he turned to Hiccup. "What game are you playing?" he asked of him as the Deadly Nadder returned with the weapon he had thrown in her mouth, setting it down onto the deck.
"No game," the master dragon rider assured in response as Eret noticed that Stormfly had retrieved Inferno, lying right next to him, "We just want to meet Drago," he affirmed, while the dragon trapper tossed his weapon away once more in the opposite direction, only for the Deadly Nadder to go after it again.
"Why?" he questioned.
"Because I'm going to change his mind about dragons," Hiccup declared firmly. Eret and his crewmates started laughing heartily, all while Stormfly brought Inferno back yet again. She pushed it to the lead dragon trapper's feet, getting his attention as he looked at it then at her in surprise. She cooed, wanting to play fetch still.
"He can be really persuasive," Astrid pointed out as she poked up from under the grate.
"And this works perfect for me, too," Natsu chimed in as he came up, "Once we get to this Dragon guy, I'll burn him to a crisp…" he declared with a wicked smirk, cracking his knuckles.
"Okay, you're not doing that…" Hiccup stated to his chagrin as he huffed. Toothless then approached, allowing for his owner to pet him kindly. "Once you've earned his loyalty, there is nothing a dragon won't do for you," he told the trappers.
"Puh!" Eret scoffed, "You won't be changing any minds around here," he proclaimed, while Stormfly was trying to get the other members of his crew to play fetch with her, nudging them as she held Inferno in her mouth.
"I can change yours," the master dragon rider proclaimed, "Right here. Right now," he remarked as he climbed up from the well. He pushed the lever upon his dragon's saddle forward, spreading his prosthetic tail to the surprise of the trappers. "May I?" he offered. All of a sudden though, he was snatched away in the talons of a Monstrous Nightmare, carrying him away as he yelled.
"Hiccup!" Natsu cried out. A Hideous Zippleback then slashed through the port sail, causing the ship to tilt slightly. The Dragon Slayer suddenly felt himself go nauseous as he toppled over onto his hands and knees, groaning all the while.
"Whoa, hey!" Astrid yelped as she knelt by his side, "What… just happened to you?" she asked.
"I… hate… boats…" Natsu grumbled out, his face turning green. Toothless looked on with a tilted head before looking to see where his owner had gone. As it turned out, he was being taken away by his fellow dragon riders, consisting of Snotlout Jorgenson, Ruffnut and Tuffnut Thorston, and Fishlegs Ingerman. He managed to pry himself free of Hookfang's talons, deploying the wings of his wingsuit to glide back toward the ship. Eret had gone back to the net launcher, ready to launch ammunition toward his foe. All of a sudden though, he felt a chill in the air, noticing the ice forming along the launcher. He backed away with a yelp as his fingers shook from the cold. All of a sudden, a figure appeared upon the now-frozen launcher.
It was a humanoid, moth-like alien with four bat-like wings and antenna. He had a black, muscular body with cyan patches on his arms, shoulders, legs, the back of his wings, and the back of his neck that resembled ice chunks. Each patch had thick blue outlining except for the ones on his wings, which were outlined in black. There was also a black line that ran on the edge of the outer margin on the back of each wing. On his torso was a chest piece that extended over entirely, sporting three gill-like marks on each side. There was also a line running down his abdomen. On his face were his blue cheeks and underjaw, a wide mouth that showed bluish-white teeth, and large green eyes with dark green spots. The top of his head also sported a blue Y-shaped marking that extended over his scalp. He had three pointed fingers and a thumb on each claw, and two toes on each foot and a third toe-like extension on his ankles. The Omnitrix symbol was at a green belt with a white stripe around his waist. He narrowed his bug-like eyes onto Eret, whose own widened.
"Take a chill pill, why don't you?" he advised. In the meantime, Hiccup reached the ship's sail, grabbing onto a rope and riding down back to the deck safely.
"Uh, what're you guys doing here?" he asked of his colleagues.
"We're here to rescue you!" Gobber responded as he came down aboard Grump, with Stoick landing down on the deck upon Skullcrusher.
"I don't need to be rescued!" Hiccup argued.
"ENOUGH!" his father bellowed out, hopping down from his dragon and marching over to his son.
"Well, didn't you just pick the wrong ship, eh?" Eret remarked as he approached, "I am Eret, son of—!" Stoick shoved him away by his face before he could finish his introduction. He found himself getting bonked on the head by the club Gobber had as his prosthetic, followed by Grump dropping his head atop him to keep him pinned to the deck as he gasped for air. "Get... this... thing... off... me!" he pleaded, sounding breathless.
"Anyone else?" Gobber challenged, only to get no response, "That's what I figured," he noted proudly.
"Ugh…" Natsu groaned sickly. Folding his wings to make it appear he was cloaked, Big Chill approached.
"Yeah… figures this would happen…" he muttered.
"Is he gonna be okay?" Astrid asked in concern.
"Once he's off this boat, he'll be fine," the Necrofriggian assured as the Omnitrix symbol at his belt beeped, followed by a flash of green light that transformed him back into Ben.
"You. Saddle up," Stoick instructed of Hiccup, adjusting his belt, "We're going home," he said.
"No," his son responded to his surprise.
"Of all the irresponsible—!"
"I'm trying to protect our dragons and stop a war!" Hiccup argued, interjecting his father, "How is that irresponsible?!" he questioned in frustration.
"Because war is what he wants, son!" Stoick answered vehemently.
"Care to tell us why that is?" Ben requested, looking toward him expectantly as were the other dragon riders, along with Natsu. Sighing, Berk's chief told the tale of Drago Bludvist, and how he had come amidst a gathering of chieftains to discuss how to deal with the dragons they faced. Soft-spoken but firm, the man was devoted to freeing mankind from the dragons' tyranny, claiming that he alone could control the dragons and keep everyone safe. That was, so long as they bowed down and went under his authority.
The chieftains had laughed him out, but he had warned them that they wouldn't last without him. As a show of his power, he had armored dragons break into the gathering, slaughtering every last man except for Stoick, who was the only one to escape. Everyone was clearly disturbed by the story, including Natsu, whose eyes shook. He growled, willing himself up onto his feet.
"Isn't that… more of a reason to go and stop him?!" he grunted out in question, getting the chief's attention.
"Son, I don't know who you think you are, but Drago isn't—!"
"I don't give a damn about who he is or isn't!" the Dragon Slayer roared as he stomped his left foot onto the deck. The ship tilted again, causing him to go nauseous again as he stumbled. Luckily, Hiccup was there to catch him.
"Huh…" Stoick sighed out, "Listen, Hiccup," he advised of his son, getting him to perk up, "Men who kill without reason cannot be reasoned with," he stated firmly.
"…Maybe," he responded after a moment, helping walk Natsu over to Toothless.
"Hiccup…" Stoick grumbled, knowing that his son was being adamant.
"I'm still going to try," he said, causing Eret to perk up in surprise as the master dragon rider boarded the Nightfury, helping the Dragon Slayer onto him as well, "This is what I'm good at," he affirmed to his father, "And if I could change your mind…" he continued, "I can change his, too," he assured, earning a frustrated look from Stoick, while his girlfriend smiled at him.
"Ugh…" Natsu groaned sickly, "Can we go now?" he begged in request. Hiccup let out a silent chuckle.
"Come on," he beckoned to Toothless, enticing him to take off into the sky. The Dragon Slayer let out a sigh of relief before looking back to Ben and the others on the ship.
"Don't worry, we'll be back soon!" he promised.

A long while had passed since Hiccup, Natsu and Toothless had encountered the dragon trappers in their attempt to get to Drago. The Night Fury rose above and glided over a bed of clouds, which glowed in the low, arctic sun. The Dragon Slayer looked around in wonder. He had never been this high in the air before, even when being flown around by Happy.
"This is awesome…" he uttered out.
"Yeah… it is…" Hiccup responded, staring ahead in frustration. He was no closer to Drago. And because of his father, he likely never would find where their enemy was. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!" he screamed out angrily, flailing his arms before slumping back onto Natsu, "Oh, sorry…" he apologized, sitting upright.
"All good," the Dragon Slayer assured with a grin, "Must be tough having to deal with all that talk from your dad, huh?" he assumed.
"Wouldn't you know…" the dragon rider grumbled, "And what about yours?" he asked, "I'm sure the dad of some guy that can shoot fire from his hands can drive you nuts…" he presumed, glancing back at the Fairy Tail wizard.
"I… haven't seen him for a long time," he responded to Hiccup's surprise.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to—"
"No, you're fine," Natsu interjected. A growl from Toothless got their attentions as they saw that he was recoiling from his owner's upset.
"Don't worry, bud," he assured after a sigh, "I'm not gonna let anything happen to you," he vowed, "I promise," he said firmly. At that moment, Natsu felt his nose twitch. The Night Fury seemed to sense something amiss as well, noticing something starting to tear through the clouds.
"Uh… Hiccup?" the Dragon Slayer said upon noticing himself. The dragon rider groaned with a roll of his eyes.
"Aw, come on, Dad! Really?!" he exclaimed, only to see that it wasn't his father who was coming up from the clouds. Rather, it was a mysterious figure wearing an outfit that had chest armor with an attached fur shawl, round shoulder guards, and large armbands with faux talons above its hands. It also donned a red, torn cape and strips of fabric around it waist. It wore a masking helmet as well, covered in blue and red paint like the rest of the disguise.
"That's… not your dad…" Natsu concluded, watching as the figure sunk back into the clouds.
"Okay…" Hiccup said to Toothless, "No sudden moves…" he advised, taking a tight grip on his dragon's reins. The Dragon Slayer aboard looked around carefully. His eyes widened.
"Look out!" he yelled just before the mysterious figure shot up from the clouds again. Only now, it was riding a dragon. It was a large beast, having iridescent fish-like scales, and two pairs of wings. The second set of wings was under his main ones, appearing as one main pair. He had a very muscular and sturdy build. His face had two long spines that branched off his brow to the side, and he had a flattened, owlish face, making him seemingly brachycephalic. He also had a three-finned tail, many spines down his back, and a large crown of spikes on his head that made him look even more menacing. He glided around Toothless, who had been startled as he flapped his wings to regain his balance. Natsu and Hiccup watched as the mysterious figure aimed its staff towards them. The Stormcutter flew around, flapping his mighty wings to reveal the secondary pair he had, looming just in front of his targets.
"Hold on, hold on…" the dragon rider advised of the Night Fury he was upon, hoping to diffuse the situation before it could get worse. The flapping of the dragons' wings were breaking apart the clouds even more. The Dragon Slayer sniffed the clearing air curiously, widening his eyes slightly.
"Wait… that guy smells like—" Out of nowhere, a dragon snatched Hiccup by his talons and yanked him off of Toothless, who subsequently started falling just before Natsu could finish speaking.
"TOOTHLESS!" the dragon rider screamed, seeing him and the Dragon Slayer fall toward the ice below. Noticing, the latter ignited his fists in flames before bringing them together, slamming them against the ice before he and the Night Fury crashed into the water. Holding his breath, he went over to help the dragon swim to the surface, reaching the ice and pulling themselves out from the cold water.
"Huh…" he exhaled with relief before looking out at the dragons joined with the mysterious figure, taking Hiccup away, "Come on!" he beckoned of the Night Fury, running ahead, "We gotta go get him back!" he insisted. Growling in agreement, Toothless galloped after him, knowing that he couldn't fly without his owner on his saddle. However, he noticed cracks forming in the ice beneath him, trailing up ahead of him as Natsu ran on. All of a sudden, the ice gave way at his feet, causing him to fall back into the water.
Screeching to a half upon overhearing, the Dragon Slayer turned around and gasped to see him splashing helplessly before a trio of dragons underwater carried him away beneath the surface. The Fairy Tail wizard grimaced in frustration, wondering what he could do. Before he could even think of something, another dragon came by and snatched him in his talons.
"WAH!" he yelped out. He gnashed his teeth together, ready to pummel the beast carrying him as his right fist ignited in fire. However, he noticed that he was being taken in the same direction as Hiccup, heading towards the mountains. He let the fire around his extremity subside, deciding to find out what the mysterious figure and the dragons were after first.
"HEY!" Hiccup yelled out, "You left my dragon back there!" he pointed out desperately to the mysterious figure apparently leading the group of dragons, "He can't fly on his own! He'll drown!" he shouted on, only to get no response. He then noticed Natsu was carried over as well by another of the beasts. They found themselves being taken through the crevices of the glaciers and icebergs, coming around a massive mound of ice that looked similar to the one they had seen from the destroyed dragon trapper fort.
The dragons flew into the caverns of the mound, dropping both Hiccup and Natsu as they tucked and rolled, coming to a stop. The former looked around cautiously, seeing that was surrounded by all kinds of beasts, some of which he had never seen before. The latter ignited his fists in warning to the other dragons, causing some of them to back down.
"We have to head back for my dragon!" the master dragon rider called out. Unfortunately, he wasn't getting a response from the mysterious figure, wherever it was now. The dragons surrounded both him and the Fairy Tail wizard, who growled. Drawing Ignition from his leg, Hiccup ignited it with fire, waving it around for the dragons enticingly, causing some of them to calm down.
Glancing back and noticing, Natsu waved his fists around himself in an attempt to do the same. And to his surprise, it worked, making the dragons soften and become less threatening. The mysterious figure watched on curiously from afar.
"Now what?" the Dragon Slayer asked of his friend.
"Just… stay behind me," he responded, standing back-to-back with him. Some of the dragons still weren't tamed just yet, growling at him. Retracting his weapon's blade as the fire around it extinguished, Hiccup reloaded it with a capsule upon his leg. He opened the pommel to expel a circle of gas, followed by igniting it with a burst of fire to keep the dragons back.
Natsu let his flames subside from his extremities, watching as the master dragon rider approached one of the beasts with an extended arm. The mysterious figure stepped forward, causing him to recoil. It was carrying a shield along with her staff, stalking around Hiccup and the Dragon Slayer. The latter growled, while the former held his hands out in a placating manner.
"Who are you?" he asked of the figure, "The Dragon Thief?" he assumed, "Uh… Drago Bludvist?" he guessed on, "Do you even understand what I'm saying?" he inquired. All of a sudden, the figure swung its staff around, striking the ground as objects inside of it began giving off vibrations. A roar echoed in the distance as all of a sudden, another dragon arrived in the cavern, carrying Toothless in his talons. He dropped him down onto the ground in front of both Hiccup and Natsu. "Toothless!" the former exclaimed with relief, going over to the Night Fury as he shook himself dry, "It's okay," he assured while hugging him, hearing him purr, "I'm glad to see you, too, bud," he said, "You really had me worried there…" he admitted, earning an affectionate lick from his dragon, all while the mysterious figure watched on curiously.
"Hey," Natsu called out, getting its attention, "Who are you?" he asked in a firm tone, reigniting his fists. The figure shook its staff, shaking the rocks inside it as a form of command. Some of the dragons started to ignite their mouths in flames, illuminating the cavern slightly. The mysterious figure then started to approach the trio, while Toothless growled. It dropped its staff and shield, slowly coming towards them.
The Night Fury showed his teeth, still snarling as the figure came closer. It held its left hand out to the dragon, followed by waving it slowly. All of a sudden, Toothless collapsed to the ground in a contented moan, being petted by the figure. Natsu widened his eyes.
"What did you just—?!" The figure waved its right hand in front of his face next. His eyes went wide as his pupils enlarged, followed by him collapsing as well onto the ground.
"H-Hey!" Hiccup stammered out in shock. The figure then approached him next, reaching its left hand out to him as he recoiled slightly. He turned his head a little, revealing the small scar upon his chin. A light gasp came from the figure as it noticed, moving back slightly.
"Hiccup?" it uttered in a feminine voice.
"Uh…" the master dragon rider uttered, now confused. He watched the figure remove her helmet, revealing that she was a middle-aged woman with auburn hair kept in three separate knotted braids behind her back and had fair skin. She looked at the young man before her in disbelief.
"C-Could it be?" she stuttered out, still wide-eyed, "After all these years?" she questioned, standing upright, "How's this possible?" she wondered aloud quitely, while Natsu groaned, trying to bring himself back up.
"Uh, should I... should I know you?" Hiccup asked of the strange woman, who blinked.
"No…" she responded as she glanced away for a moment, "You were only a babe…" she pointed out, causing the master dragon rider to give off a look of confusion, "…But a mother never forgets," she affirmed, while the Dragon Slayer stood back up. He heard his friend stammer with shock, completely tongue-tied and barely able to let out a gasp of surprise at the revelation. However, his mother shushed him before he could say anything.
"Come…" she requested, heading off through the cavern, waving for Hiccup to follow.
"That's your mom…" Natsu uttered out, getting the master dragon rider's attention, "I thought I smelled something familiar about her…" he noted over to his friend, who still seemed aghast. He then started hurrying after her through the maze of rock caves, with his dragon and the Dragon Slayer following after him.
"Hold on! Wait just a minute!" he called out.
"This way," Valka beckoned.
"Come back here!" Hiccup yelled again, "You can't just say something like that and run off!" he pointed out, "You're my MOTHER?!" he exclaimed, still flabbergasted, "I mean, what the - do you grasp how insane it sounds?" he questioned of her, continuing to traverse the cavern's terrain.
"Come! Quickly!" she beckoned again, heading through a crevice leading into the light outside.
"I have questions!" her son noted as he tried to jump his way after her, only to fall short, "Where have you… been all this time?" he grunted out in question as Toothless helped push him up over the rocks, while Natsu leapt up, "What've you been doing?" he inquired on, "They said you were dead!" he pointed out, "Everyone thinks you were eaten by…" he continued, only to stop as he finally reached the end of the cave, widening his eyes. What lied before him and the others was an oasis filled with all kinds of dragons. All of them were of various species, flying around as the group stared in awe.
"Whoa…" Natsu uttered in amazement. He, Hiccup and Toothless walked forward, looking around at the majesty of the sanctuary that lied before them. And it wasn't just that. There was plant-life and a warm climate. The Dragon Slayer's eyes were shaking with excitement. Just then, he felt himself and the master dragon rider get nudged by the Night Fury, enticing them to look over to find Valka hanging on the cave roof with her dragon, Cloudjumper.
"This is where you've been for twenty years?" her son asked of her. She nodded. "You've been rescuing them," he realized, getting another nod in response with a smile from his mother, "Unbelievable…" he uttered out, while another dragon was trying to get close to Toothless, sniffing him curiously.
"You're not upset?" Valka questioned.
"What? No. I-I don't know…" Hiccup stuttered in response, putting his hands onto his hips, "It's a bit much to get my head around, to be frank…" he admitted, "It's not every day you find out your mother is some kind of crazy, feral, vigilante dragon lady," he pointed out. His mother chuckled, being brought down from the roof thanks to Cloudjumper's talons.
"At least I'm not boring… right?" she presumed.
"I suppose there is that… one… specific… thing…" her son replied.
"Do you like it?" she inquired curiously.
"I…I don't have the words…" Hiccup admitted in response, while many curious dragons were playfully approaching and sniffing at Toothless. One ended up with his head pushing up his posterior to his surprise. With a growl of frustration, he scared him and the other dragons off.
"Haha!" Natsu laughed upon noticing. Valka giggled herself.
"Can…Can I…?" she started to request of her son, who nodded in approval, "Oh, he's beautiful!" she pointed out, approaching the Night Fury as she set her staff down, gently holding his head before nuzzling against him affectionately, making her giggle again, "Incredible!" she exclaimed, "He might very well be the last of his kind…" she mentioned as Toothless rubbed his way around her happily, "And look, he's your age!" she added upon noticing something about the black dragon, "Oh, no wonder you get along so well," she noted with another laugh, mimicking the Night Fury's jabbering before seeing him retract his teeth, "And retractable teeth!" she said, poking her head inside to get a closer look at the dragon's mouth, petting his tongue, "How did you manage to—?"
"I found him in the woods," Hiccup answered before she could finish her question, "He was shot down and wounded…" he mentioned. His mother's expression shifted to one of frustration.
"This Snafflefang lost his leg to one of Drago Bludvist's iron traps," she pointed out, showing her son the missing hind leg of one dragon, "This Raincutter had her wing sliced by razor netting," she continued, approaching a dragon whose wing was cut, "And poor Gruff was blinded by a tree snare…" she mentioned as she went over to a dragon whose eyes were pale white, "then left to die alone and scared…" she finished, turning to Toothless, "And what of this?" she asked, using her staff to lift up the makeshift tailfin for him, "Did Drago or his trappers do this, too?" she presumed. Hiccup let out an awkward laugh.
"Well, crazy thing is… I'm actually the one who shot him down…" he admitted in reply as he petted his dragon, causing his mother to look on at him with a shocked yet curious expression, "It's okay though, he got me back," he pointed out, "Right, bud?" he inquired of the Night Fury as he laughed, "You couldn't save all of me, could you?" he questioned rhetorically, "You just had to make it even," he pointed out, "So… peg leg!" he exclaimed, showing off his prosthetic.
"…How did I not notice that…?" Natsu wondered aloud.
"And what about you?" Valka asked curiously, turning to him.
"Huh?" he uttered, arching an eyebrow as she approached.
"You look like a man… yet act like a dragon…" she noted, first taking hold of his right arm and inspecting it, "It's almost like you were raised by one yourself…" she pointed out.
"Well… yeah, I was," the Dragon Slayer confirmed to her surprise, along with Hiccup and Toothless'.
"I'm sorry, what?" the master dragon rider said, arching an eyebrow as he shook his head, "You were raised by a dragon?" he questioned.
"Yeah, a fire dragon," Natsu replied, "His name's Igneel," he mentioned as Valka looked him over, taking note of his guild mark.
"Igneel…" Hiccup repeated, "And he taught you how to shoot fire from your hands?" he assumed.
"Yep!" the Dragon Slayer confirmed with a big grin.
"That's remarkable…" Valka commented, noticing that many of the other dragons in the sanctuary were coming to meet Natsu themselves, "Seems to me that they're already ready to trust you, too," she pointed out. The Fairy Tail wizard was surprised a little, seeing one of the beasts approach him. He held his right hand out, allowing for the dragon to gently press his head against his palm. His eyes shook for a moment.
"In my world… Igneel left me a long time ago," he told the others, "I've been looking for him ever since…" he mentioned.
"A dragon surrogate father…" Valka concluded, "He raised you well from the look of it," she pointed out, causing Natsu to blink in surprise.
"Wait, what do you mean 'your world'?" Hiccup inquired after a moment of thought, while Toothless tilted his head in confusion.
"Uh… heh…" the Dragon Slayer chuckled out sheepishly, "It's gonna be hard to explain…" he admitted, rubbing the back of his head.
Natsu was able to somehow explain the intricacies of his world compared to the one he had come to… in his own simplistic way of course. But more importantly than that, he got to experience the reunion of a family, one that he never knew he would likely get to experience himself someday. That's another story entirely.
On the other side of things, Ben and the rest of the dragon riders discovered Drago's army and were subsequently captured, though thanks to some help from Eret, they escaped. And in the process, they joined Natsu, Hiccup, and the others in their battle against Drago. However, that battle would prove to bring about a far more troubling dilemma for our heroes…

Cannonballs smashed and exploded against the ice outside of the sanctuary as the multitude of battleships below continued firing, breaking off more and more the surrounding structure. Running out from the caverns onto the ice looking over the island, Valka widened her eyes to see the entire armada, with soldiers around already making landfall as explosions were going off again and again. Hiccup, Natsu and Stoick made their way over to her, seeing the attack being brought against the nest.
"Oh no…" the master dragon rider uttered, while the Dragon Slayer growled. Berk's chief could see the panic and anger upon his wife's face as she turned and marched back to the cavern.
"Val!" he called out, grabbing her gently by her arm, "It's all right, it's all right…" he reassured, "We're a team now," he affirmed with a nod, "Now what do you want to do?" he asked of her.
"We have to save the dragons," she responded firmly, putting a hand onto her son's shoulder.
"Aye, you got it," her husband agreed, "Come on, son," he beckoned to Hiccup, while Natsu remained standing at the edge of the ice, glaring down at the army.
"Uh, you coming with us, lad?" Gobber inquired of him, tilting his head to the side.
"I'll get a head start on you," the Dragon Slayer replied, taking a few steps back before igniting his hands with flames. He then ran and leapt from the ice, falling towards the army below. Gobber blinked twice.
"Is everyone these days just crazy…?" he wondered aloud before turning and trudging after the Haddock Family. Dragons of all kinds were coming out from the sanctuary, launching fireballs from their mouths at the army invading their island. They retaliated with their net launchers, downing some of the beasts while continuing to make their charge. One dragon was caught up in a net, falling to the feet of Drago himself.
He was a well-built man, wearing his long black hair and beard in thick braids. Multiple scars run over his face and body, evidence of his past encounters with dragons. His attire consisted of a dark blue sleeveless shirt, a thick waist belt with a sun on the front and a huge black cape made from dragon skin. Attached to his belt, he donned a loincloth, dark blue trousers, and dark blue boots covered in gray fur. He gripped his spear tightly as he looked toward the nest ahead of him.
"Whatever comes, keep hitting the mountain!" he commanded of his soldiers, "We need to draw the Alpha out," he noted. More dragons were converging onto the battlefield, facing off with the men charging their sanctuary, along with the armored dragons seemingly under Drago's command. Some soldiers broke through the swarm, closing in on the entrance to the caverns leading inside. But they were suddenly met by an explosion of flames, blowing them back. Their leader took notice, widening his eyes to see Natsu stomping forward, fire burning around his arms. Two armored dragons made their way towards him. He growled.
"So that's what you do to them, huh?" he concluded, gnashing his teeth together. He leapt over and grabbed one of the beasts by its armor, using his strength to fling it into another as they fell onto the snowy ground, toppling over a few more soldiers in the process. Drago watched on curiously as the Dragon Slayer was beating down his men left and right with punches and kicks. Out of fright, one soldier at the net launchers fired a net his way. He took notice, merely holding his right hand out… and burned it to cinders.
"Well…" Drago chuckled out. Some traps on the battlefields acted as lures for dragons to come and free their brethren, only to wind up captured. However, one of the traps had a greenish gas expelling from it, which a soldier noticed. Before he could say anything though, the gas ignited in a fiery explosion. Emerging from the smoke was Barf and Belch, followed by Hookfang, Meatlug, and Stormfly, with their respective riders upon them.
"Surprise!" Tuffnut yelled out, "Yeah!" he exclaimed.
"WHAT?!" Drago bellowed upon noticing. Natsu blinked in surprise, finding Ben aboard Stormfly with Eret. He cracked a grin, charging in and igniting his fists with flames. He brought them together, creating a massive fireball.
"Fire Dragon…" he began to echo, "BRILLIANT FLAME!" he roared, throwing it down to strike one of the traps in a powerful blast, freeing the dragons that were caught. From above, the dragon riders took notice.
"Isn't that your friend?" Astrid asked of Ben, who was riding Stormfly with her and Eret.
"Yeah…" he responded with a chuckle, "Better go give him a hand," he decided, standing up and leaping off of the Deadly Nadder. He tapped the Omnitrix's lid as he fell, causing a holographic wheel to appear over it. After a moment of scrolling through the icons, Ben slid the lid forward, slamming his hand onto the dial and creating a green flash of light.
"Huh?" one soldier uttered upon noticing from below, followed by a large shadow looming over him, "AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!" he screamed, diving out of the way before he could get crushed by a rolled-up Cannonbolt. He started rolling around, smashing through net launchers and bowling more of Drago's men over. He growled with frustration. Not only were the dragons being freed, but the others fighting his soldiers were proving troublesome as well.
"CUT THEM DOWN!" he roared in command.
"Fire Dragon Talon!" Natsu yelled, slamming his flaming right foot against one of the battleships, shattering the bow off of it into flaming splinters. Cannonbolt slammed himself against a few dragon traps, freeing the beasts inside as they flew off. In the meantime, the dragon riders were doing their handiwork themselves thanks to their partners.
"Up, girl!" Astrid yelled to Stormfly as they flew toward the ice-covered nest, "To the left, Eret!" she advised of the former trapper aboard the dragon with her, "That's it!" she exclaimed. All of a sudden, one of the icicles was shot off, falling towards them. "Look out!" the female Viking shouted. Just then, a searing purple plasma blast flew in and blew apart the icicle. Astrid looked out and smiled to see that it was her boyfriend aboard Toothless, joined by Stoick upon Skullcrusher and Gobber with Grump.
"Yeah baby!" Hiccup yelled as the Night Fury fired off another plasma blast to destroy a net launcher, with Skullcrusher launching a fireball that took out another. From the ground, Natsu smirked upon noticing the master dragon rider having finally arrived on the battlefield.
"Take 'em down!" one of the soldiers commanded of the others, only for them to wind up getting bludgeoned by the tail of Grump, knocking them down unconscious. Meanwhile, Drago took notice of Hiccup and Toothless.
"Dragon Master…" he uttered curiously.
"Hey," Natsu said, getting his attention as he turned to see the Dragon Slayer there with fire burning over his right arm, "You're that Drago guy, right?" he assumed. His enemy chuckled.
"And what if I am, boy?" he questioned back.
"Then I'm gonna burn you to cinders…" the Fairy Tail wizard declared, lunging toward him. However, his attack was halted as a pair of armored dragons suddenly flew over and tackled him to the ground.
"I will deal with you later," Drago decided, turning to face the incoming dragons. Valka had also arrived to the battlefield, riding on Cloudjumper as they emerged from the sky. And breaking out from the nest behind them was an incredibly massive four-legged dragon with a pair of gigantic, tusks protruding from the sides of his heads similar to that of an elephant. He had a flat, almost hominid-shaped face with a wide mouth and pink interior that had somewhat flexible lips. He had two large blue eyes, and situated between and around the them were a collection of short, almost antennae-like spikes that were vibrating rapidly. A large flaring crown of spikes fanned out from the back of the head. Irregularly sized spikes continued along the breadth of the shoulders and then dwindle down to a single row along the back and dorsal aspect of the tail.
He also had an immense chest cavity and neck. The latter, while short, was pleated like those of baleen whales. The body tapered down at the waist and hips and into a long, fluked tail. The front legs had fins along the backsides. He did have a pair of wings originating from his shoulders, but the wing sails were attached to the length of their trunk, making them more ideal for swimming. Rolling to a stop as he uncurled upon his feet, Cannonbolt widened his eyes.
"Now that's a big dragon…" he remarked. The Alpha roared out mightily, breaking out from the nest as the icicles fell over the army below. Drago smirked with satisfaction.
"Now we have a fight…" he noted. The Bewilderbeast unleashed a powerful, icy blizzard from his mouth onto the battlefield, freezing a good chunk of the area while also trapping some soldiers and their traps. Valka waved her staff around aboard Cloudjumper in command to the dragons, having them soar in and attack.
Hideous Zipplebacks released gas from their right head's mouth, igniting it to have their bodies become engulfed in flames before coming down and bowling over everything in sight. One unfortunately wound up caught in a steel trap. However, Hiccup noticed aboard Toothless, as they quickly dove down and destroyed the trap with a single plasma blast, freeing the dragon.
"Fire Dragon Iron Fist!" Natsu bellowed as he punched away the armored dragons trying to surround him. Something wasn't right about all of this. There was no way Drago's army, no matter their forces or the amount of dragons they had at their disposal, could possibly win against a whole other force, especially with the Alpha. So why did he seem so collected when the massive dragon arrived?
"Natsu!" Cannonbolt called out as he rolled over, uncurling to a stop.
"Hey Ben…" the Dragon Slayer greeted, "Sorry for leaving you behind before…" he apologized.
"Don't mention it, it's fine," the Arburian Pelarota reassured, "Anyways, looks like we got this in the bag," he noted confidently, "Between getting all these dragons on our side and that big one, I think we're taking this Drago guy down," he affirmed.
"I don't know…" Natsu admitted to his surprise before he could roll off, "Something doesn't feel right…" he admitted as he clenched his fists. Even with all the smoke in the air, his nose could pick up on a scent, one similar to the Alpha.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Drago bellowed out from afar, waving around his bullhook over his head. Natsu widened his eyes, looking toward the water. It was churning, making several of the ships get washed away as something was emerging from it. Rising up was another Bewilderbeast, shackled with chains around his tusks and being much bigger than the one protecting the sanctuary.
"Another one…" the Dragon Slayer uttered in shock. Almost without thinking, he charged toward the darker of the two large dragons.
"Hey, Natsu!" Cannonbolt yelled, seeing his friend leap toward the chained Bewilderbeast, engulfing his right fist in flames.
"Fire Dragon…!" he started to bellow, only to end up caught in the icy breath of the massive beast. He easily broke free from the ice with his flames, but was subsequently stomped down onto the ground in a powerful shockwave.
"No!" the Arburian Pelarota yelled, curling up into his ball form and rolling over to the Dragon Slayer. He was trying to push back against the opposing Bewilderbeast's foot, gritting his teeth as he lifted up his front left foot. All of a sudden, the dragon was knocked away, causing him to blink in surprise before noticing that the other Alpha was challenging it. A worried grimace crossed his face. Something was telling him that this was exactly what Drago wanted to happen.
"Stop!" he yelled, unleashing a blast of fire from his mouth in between the two beasts to separate them. They roared angrily, clashing tusks all while wrestling for dominance over one another. Natsu could already realize how powerless he was against them. Even as Valka tried to calm both dragons down, they kept clashing. And the darker of the two was gaining ground, pushing his fellow Bewilderbeast back up against the mountain before he crashed onto his left side, leaving his underbelly wide open.
With a frustrated growl, the Fairy Tail wizard hurried over. But it was too late. The dark Bewilderbeast used his tusks to gore through the Alpha. Those watching were left shocked at the scene. They watched the lone massive dragon roar ferociously in victory. His voice resonated with the other dragons, causing them to fly over to him.
"What's happening?" Eret asked from above, noticing Stormfly shaking her head uncomfortably.
"He's taking control of the dragons!" Hiccup warned as he flew over aboard Toothless.
"He can do that?!" Astrid exclaimed in question.
"Yeah…" her boyfriend confirmed as a response, glancing down to spot Drago fighting against his father, "So I'm gonna stop it," he decided, "Let's go, bud!" he called out to his dragon as they soared off.
"Hiccup!" Astrid yelled. The new Alpha, under Drago's command, was going after Valka, unleashing his ice breath towards her and Cloudjumper, as the Stormcutter found his tail caught in ice, slowing him down.
The other dragons began swarming them, knocking the rider off of Cloudjumper as she fell toward the ground. Luckily, Stoick had come over aboard Skullcrusher, leaping off to catch his wife and use his battle axe to slow their descent after slamming against the mountainside. Drago scoffed upon noticing.
"STOP!" Hiccup's voice yelled, getting his attention as he saw the master dragon rider approach aboard Toothless, descending down in front of him, "Stop!" he commanded again, disembarking from the Night Fury and removing his helmet, tossing it aside. Drago chuckled.
"This… is the great Dragon Master?" he presumed, "The son of Stoick the Vast?" he guessed on, "What shame he must feel…" he remarked mockingly.
"HEY!" Natsu's voice roared as he leapt over, landing alongside Hiccup and Toothless, "Call him off!" he commanded of Drago, who smirked.
"All of this loss…" the master dragon rider chimed in, getting their attentions, "and for what?!" he questioned to his enemy, "To become unstoppable? To rule the world?" he listed off in question, "Dragons… th-they are kind, amazing creatures that can bring people together," he pointed out with a stutter.
"Or tear them apart," Drago retorted, putting down his weapon and unhooking his metal prosthetic left arm, showing the stump that remained. Natsu blinked in surprise, while Hiccup looked rather mortified by such a wound. "You see, I know what it is to live in fear," their foe noted, reattaching his prosthetic as he started approaching them, "To see my village burned, my family taken…." he recalled on, "But even as a boy… left with nothing," he continued as he stalked the pair before turning to see his Bewilderbeast taking control of more dragons from the nest, "I vowed to rise above the fear of dragons and liberate the people of this world…" he stated.
"Then why a dragon army?" Natsu asked, clenching his fists as embers sparked from them.
"Well, you need dragons to conquer other dragons," Drago answered with a scoff.
"Or maybe you need dragons to conquer people," Hiccup concluded, "To control those who follow you… and to get rid of those who won't…" he realized grimly. His enemy laughed.
"Clever boy…" he remarked, walking toward him again. However, the Dragon Slayer stood in his way once more.
"Try taking another step…" he threatened with a fierce expression upon his face, though Drago was hardly intimidated.
"I noticed something about you, boy…" he pointed out, causing him to blink in confusion, "And I think you haven't even realized it yet…" he added aloud.
"The world wants peace," Hiccup proclaimed, getting his attention, "And we have the answer, back on Berk," he affirmed on as Toothless approached, growling at Drago, "Just let me show you," he requested while gesturing for his dragon to stay back.
"NO!" the dragon army leader roared, "Let ME show YOU," he decided, bellowing again to his foes' surprise, seeing him swing his bullhook around wildly. The Bewilderbeast overheard, immediately making his way over to his master. From afar, Cannonbolt took notice as he transformed back into Ben in a green flash of light.
"Oh, that's probably not good…" he realized, running over as quickly as he could.
"What do you think you're doing now?" Natsu inquired of Drago, igniting his fists with flames as the Bewilderbeast arrived.
"No dragon can resist the Alpha's command," the dragon army leader responded, pointing to the massive beast with his bullhook, "So he who controls the Alpha, controls them all…" he added, turning his focus to both Toothless and Natsu. The Bewilderbeast instantly turned his focus onto the Night Fury, focusing his eyes as the spines around his face vibrated. The black dragon shook his head, thrashing about and screaming with pain.
"Toothless? You okay, bud?" Hiccup asked of his friend, while the Dragon Slayer snarled.
"You bastard!" he roared, about to lunge out at Drago. However, he suddenly halted without warning, grabbing at his head in agony. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" he yelled out. Drago chuckled.
"A boy with the mind of a dragon…" he noted as he walked past him, "Witness true strength," he said to Hiccup, getting his attention, "The strength of will over others," he added firmly as suddenly, Toothless arose, no longer in pain. However, his pupils had shrunk into frighteningly narrow slits. "In the face of it… you are nothing," Drago told the master dragon rider, pointing his bullhook toward him. In response, the Bewilderbeast made his master's command to the Night Fury. And in turn, he slowly turned onto Hiccup.
"Uh, what did he just tell you?" he asked nervously, starting to back away.
"No…!" Natsu gasped out, trying to turn to go and help his friend, only to find his body seizing up under the Alpha's control. Many people were hurrying towards the scene. Though few were close enough to see what was about to happen.
"Toothless, come on, what's the matter with you?" Hiccup asked of his threateningly approaching dragon, looking back at the Bewilderbeast, who still had a firm hold on the Night Fury's mind, "Come on, knock it off! Stop! Snap out of it!" he yelled pleadingly, but to no avail. Running over as quickly as he could was Stoick with his sword in hand. Natsu noticed, but also widened his eyes as he saw Toothless opening his mouth, charging up a flaming plasma blast. "Toothless! No! Toothless! Don't!" Hiccup shouted, being backed up against a mound of ice.
"Hiccup!" his father cried out.
"STOOOPPPPP!" he yelled one last time to his dragon as his mouth glowed blue.
"SON!" Stoick screamed, finally getting Hiccup's attention as he turned to see him charging in.
"DAD! NO!" he cried out. But it was too late. Berk's chief jumped out in front of his son and pushed him away, taking the plasma blast Toothless shot that would've struck him instead. And all the while, Natsu was left to watch with shaking eyes of horror. Drago, who had been walking away from the scene, glanced back in slight surprise to see the end result, with Stoick lying lifelessly upon the ground as a few chunks of ice rested upon his wounded stomach. Upon his knees nearby was Hiccup, who looked over at him before glancing back at Toothless. Wisps of smoke expelled from his mouth as an aftereffect of his attack, as he was still under the Alpha's command.
"Natsu!" Ben cried out as he arrived on the scene, only to skid to a stop as he saw Drago there.
"So we meet again…" he remarked, enticing the brunette-haired teen to push back his hoodie's left sleeve, ready to tap the Omnitrix's lid, "But I've gotten what I came for," he noted to his foe's surprise, seeing him walk past, "You've lost," he stated. Ben didn't go after him, instead deciding to run over to the Dragon Slayer, who could feel control over his body being returned as he gasped for breath.
"Hey, hey…" the Omnitrix bearer said, going over to help support him as it looked as if he would topple over, "Are you okay? What happened?" he asked of the Fairy Tail wizard. His eyes were still shaking with horror. He looked over to see Hiccup and Valka shoving away all of the ice around Stoick before rolling him over onto his back. For the briefest of moments, Natsu saw himself in his new friend's place, looking over his father's body.
Even as his mother checked for the sound of a heartbeat, resting her head against her husband's chest, in just a moment, she shut her eyes sadly, confirming that he was gone. Natsu teared up. Not just out of frustration for being unable to prevent such a loss, but in anguish. He had gotten to see a family reunite… and suffer in the same day.
"Drago…" he growled out, "YOU BASTARD!" he roared, shoving Ben aside as he lunged for the dragon army leader, engulfing his right fist in flames. However, he was immediately caught up in a wave of ice shot by the Bewilderbeast, knocking him to the ground as he tumbled to a stop upon his stomach. He was slow to push himself up, tears pricking his eyes. He looked over to Hiccup and Valka again, also seeing that Toothless was no longer under the Alpha's control as he had turned away. Shaking his head to come back to his senses, the Night Fury's eyes widened at the sight of what had happened.
The other dragon riders arrived on the scenes, disembarking from their respective partners as they were shocked by what had apparently happened. Astrid ran over to Hiccup's side, while Toothless seemed to be realizing what he had done. He slowly approached as his rider was mourning over his father's body, whimpering all the while. He sniffed at Stoick's right hand before nudging it in hopes that he was still alive.
"No! Get away from him!" Hiccup suddenly shouted, shoving him off of his father. He moaned sadly, shocked that he would even do such a thing. "GO ON! GET OUT OF HERE!" he yelled to the Night Fury, who gave him a pleading and apologetic look, "GET AWAY!" he shouted again with a swing of his arms, causing his dragon to stumble back, frightened by his rider's tone. Natsu, who had stood up to witness the scene. He watched as Toothless scampered away.
At that moment, the Alpha roared commandingly again into the air. All of the wild dragons from the sanctuary had their pupils shrink into slits as their wills were lost to the massive beast. Natsu looked on with horror as even the dragons of the riders were under the Bewilderbeast's control, flying over and swarming around him amongst the other dragons. Toothless was attempting to join them as well, but he was unable to fly due to his prosthetic.
Drago noticed as he was departing with his army. He smirked as the Night Fury attempted to fly again, only for him to pull him back down onto the ground with his bullhook. He then pinned the dragon down before boarding him, allowing him to take off into the air.
"Gather the men and meet me at Berk!" he commanded of his soldiers, getting the attentions of those below.
"Toothless!" Hiccup gasped as he attempted to run after his dragon.
"No, don't!" Valka insisted, grabbing her son and holding him back. They could only watch as Drago left the island with a massive dragon army now in tow… and under his command.
X
You may be asking, why didn't our heroes fight back, especially Natsu? Surely a Dragon Slayer could stop a dragon army, right? Well… it's a little more complex than just that. And not to mention how a dragon army would even give Fairy Tail's Salamander trouble.
With the battle at the sanctuary concluded, now all that's left for our heroes to do is honor the fallen life of Stoick the Vast. And in doing so… hopefully rise up to the occasion…
Drifting out to sea was a small ship amidst the fog that had settled after the battle, with the blanketed body of Stoick upon it. Natsu walked around the area, retrieving arrows alongside Ben and Snotlout. He looked out at the ship sadly. If he had managed to keep his control from the Bewilderbeast for more than just a moment…
"Hey," the Omnitrix bearer said while putting a hand onto his shoulder, "It wasn't your fault," he assured of him as he blinked in surprise.
"…Yeah… I know…" he responded, looking over to Hiccup as he was given a bow and arrow from Gobber. Moments later, all the Vikings had gathered around, while Ben and Natsu stood by.
"May the Valkyries welcome you… and lead you through Odin's great battlefield," Gobber began, "May they sing your name with love and fury, so that we may hear it rise from the depths of Valhalla…" he continued, "and know that you've taken your rightful place at the table of kings," he affirmed, "For a great man has fallen," he stated, "A warrior. A chieftain. A father," he listed off, tearing up himself, "A friend…" he finished sadly. Natsu trembled with frustration as he went over to light a fire for the Vikings to ignite the tips of their arrows. He watched as Hiccup shot his first, having it strike the ship and ignite it with flames. The others followed suit. They watched the vessel their arrows struck smolder off into the distant sea.
"…I'm sorry…" the Dragon Slayer apologized to the master dragon rider, standing beside him, "I should've fought back…" he grumbled out, clenching his fists tightly, "Your dad's dead because—" Hiccup put a hand onto his shoulder, enticing him to stop. He looked over at him. Though teary-eyed, he wasn't wallowing with sadness.
"It wasn't your fault," he affirmed, "Just like it wasn't Toothless'," he added, stepping forward. He exhaled a sigh. "I'm sorry, Dad…" he apologized softly as the other dragon riders wiped away their own tears, some failing to hide their sadness more than others, "I'm not the chief that you wanted me to be," he pointed out, "And I'm not the peacekeeper I thought I was," he mentioned sadly, "I… don't know…" he tried to continue, only to stop as he looked down in deep thought. Natsu gritted his teeth, trying to block out the sobs that were threatening to leave his lips. Another hand came upon his back, enticing him to look over and see Valka there.
She too was teary-eyed over the loss of her husband, whom she had just reunited with. She didn't even need to say anything to the Dragon Slayer, nodding to him and patting his back gently. She then went over to her son.
"You came early into this world," she pointed out, rubbing her right hand through his scruffy, brunette hair, "You were such a wee thing," she mentioned, "So frail, so fragile," she added on, confusing Hiccup for a moment, "I feared you wouldn't make it," she admitted as she walked out in front of him, "But your father… he never doubted," she affirmed, "He always said you'd become the strongest of them all," she recalled, "And he was right," she affirmed, putting her right hand gently onto her son's cheek, lifting his head up, "You have the heart of a chief and the soul of a dragon," she told him, "Only you can bring our worlds together," she declared, "That is who you are, son," she stated. Natsu looked on as Hiccup stepped forward again, looking toward his father's burning ship.
"…I uh… I was so afraid of becoming my dad…" he confessed, "Mostly because I thought I never could," he added, "How-How do you become someone that great?" he stuttered in question, "That brave? That selfless?" he listed on, "…I guess you can only try…" he finished as another tear streaked down his right cheek. His expression of sadness became one of fierce determination. He turned to the others. "A chief… protects his own," he said firmly, "We're going back," he declared.
"Uh, with what?" Tuffnut asked rather bluntly.
"He took all the dragons…" Ruffnut pointed out.
"Not all of 'em…" Natsu chimed in with a smirk. Hiccup grinned, having thought of the exact same thing. "Now I got a fire in my belly!" the Dragon Slayer declared.
The group was able to fly their way back to Berk thanks to the baby dragons that the Alpha couldn't take control of. Though their flight was erratic, they managed to arrive in time to find that the Bewilderbeast had taken control of the dragons there. Hiccup's plan to try and reverse that was to first get Toothless back from the Alpha's control. How he would do it would be another challenge in of itself…
"AH!" Fishlegs screamed as he saw the Bewilderbeast launch a blast of ice his way, about to hit him and the horn he had been blowing to try and distract him. Fortunately, a black-and-blue blur rushed in, snatching the heavyset Viking and speeding away with him before he could get crushed with the ice blast shot from the massive dragon's mouth. He opened his eyes to find himself safely away from the Alpha, standing in the middle of the village. Beside him, he yelped to find XLR8 there, whose visor came up.
"Gonna need more than some cute tricks to keep this big guy occupied…" he pointed out, letting his visor come down before dashing off in an instant. He made his way up to the Alpha, who had just taken notice of him. A green flash of light enveloped his body, which subsided to reveal that he had transformed into Humungousaur, as he rammed himself up against the massive dragon's face, making him roar in pain as he slid back along the facing of the cliff he had been climbing to get up onto the island. He growled at the Vaxasaurian, who grimaced a little. Drago looked on and chuckled, amused by his foes' efforts to try and take back their dragons. He then noticed Hiccup and Natsu approaching him, riding aboard a baby Scuttleclaw together.
"You certainly are hard to get rid of…" he remarked to the pair, "I'll say that," he admitted. On the island below, Humungousaur barely managed to grab onto the right tusk of the Bewilderbeast, keeping his grip tight upon him. However, he left himself wide opened to be blasted away by the ice shot from the dragon's mouth.
"Ben!" Natsu cried out.
"Try all you want," Drago said, making him growl, "You have nothing that can stop the Alpha…" he proclaimed.
"I wouldn't say that," Hiccup retorted to his surprise. He then looked over to Toothless, who was still hypnotized as the dragon army leader rode him. "Toothless?" he said, trying to reach out to him, "It's me, bud. It's me," he affirmed, his voice echoing faintly from the Night Fury's perspective, "I'm right here. Come back to me," he begged. His dragon's expression seemed unchanging. But for a split-second, Natsu could see his pupils slightly widen, showing signs that he was trying to resist the Alpha's control.
"He is not yours anymore…" Drago stated, "He belongs to the Alpha!" he declared on, "But, please, oh great Dragon Master, try to take him…" he challenged, "He will not miss a second time…" he warned as the Night Fury was charging another fiery blast from his mouth.
"Toothless, no!" Hiccup yelped. All of a sudden, Natsu leapt forward, taking the plasma blast the black dragon shot, striking him in a burst of smoke. He fell out from the cloud afterward, heading toward the water below.
"HAHAHAHA!" Drago laughed, amused by the Dragon Slayer's act of sacrifice being seemingly for nothing. Hiccup looked horrified. But he steeled himself, reaching out to his dragon.
"It wasn't your fault, bud…" he pointed out, "They… made you do it…" he noted on, "You'd never hurt them…" he affirmed as the Night Fury's eyes were widening and narrowing every few seconds, mentally struggling against the Alpha, "You'd never hurt me!" he added firmly, while Toothless shook his head, still struggling. His partner put his hand onto his snout, becoming more visible to him.
"How are you doing that…?" Drago asked, suddenly growing concerned that control over the Night Fury was being lost.
"Please. You are my best friend, bud…" Hiccup pleaded as Toothless was appearing to be close to regaining control, only for the Alpha to concentrate harder onto him and make his eyes narrow with his commanding presence. It didn't seem like there was even a hope for him to come back to the master dragon rider. But he wasn't deterred. "My best friend…" he repeated tearfully. With that, Toothless shook his head, finally breaking free from the Bewilderbeast's control as his eyes widened, whimpering happily as he could fully see his partner in front of him. "Atta boy, that's it!" he exclaimed with relief, "I'm here!" he assured.
"Enough!" Drago yelled, smacking the Night Fury with his bull hook. He was about to hit him again, only to widen his eyes at a surprising sight. Natsu had blasted his way back up to him and the others, smirking as flames billowed around his right leg.
"Fire Dragon Talon!" he yelled, kicking Drago off of Toothless as he fell toward the Alpha.
"Yeah!" Hiccup cheered out. Toothless roared happily himself, but then started to tip over and fall, not having the support of a rider. "Whoa, hang on!" his partner yelped, jumping off of the baby Scuttleclaw after him along with Natsu. As Drago managed to latch onto the Alpha's right tusk, his foes kept descending towards the water. "Almost there, buddy! Almost there!" Hiccup assured as he got closer to the Night Fury with the Dragon Slayer. They both reached him as he flipped around for them to mount his back. Pulling on the reins, the master dragon rider had his partner take up to the air.
"Woohoo!" Natsu exclaimed with a pump of his right fist in triumph. Hiccup looked back to see that Drago had climbed up onto the Alpha's head.
"Do something!" he commanded of the massive dragon.
"We need to get those two apart," Hiccup realized.
"I can take care of that," Natsu affirmed confidently.
"You sure?" his friend questioned in concern. The Dragon Slayer firmly nodded. "Alright, go get him," the master dragon rider said, sharing a fist bump with the Fairy Tail wizard. He and Toothless nodded to each other before he leapt off, landing on the cliff the Alpha was positioned by. Igniting flames around his arms, he charged over to the massive target. Drago noticed.
"Stop him!" he commanded. The Bewilderbeast unleashed another ice blast toward Natsu, who used a burst of flames to propel himself over the massive icicles that shot forth as a result of the attack.
"Fire Dragon…" he began to roar, "WING ATTACK!" he bellowed, slamming his enflamed arms against the Alpha before he could attack him again. The force of the blow caused the massive dragon to shake, with Drago struggling to hold onto him. He growled angrily.
"What are you doing?!" he yelled to the Bewilderbeast, "Fight! Kill him!" he ordered.
"Fire Dragon Sword Horn!" Natsu exclaimed as he engulfed himself in his fire, shooting out and slamming headfirst into the massive dragon, trying to push it off of the cliff. In the meantime, Humungousaur gathered alongside the other dragon riders, transforming back into Ben in a green flash of light.
"Is he gonna be okay?" Astrid wondered in concern.
"Yeah," the Omnitrix bearer assured as a response, letting off a grin, "Besides, I don't think he'll be alone…" he mentioned, glancing back. Hiccup and Toothless had circled back around, as the former had blindfolded his dragon with a piece of a flag he had ripped off, knowing that they needed to block out the Alpha if he were to attempt to control the Night Fury again. The Berkians cheered for the master dragon rider as he soared by.
"Take him down, babe!" Astrid yelled.
"Go get 'em," Valka said as she watched her son fly past.
"ERRRRAAAAAHHHH!" Natsu roared as he slammed his enflamed right fist into the Bewilderbeast's face, knocking him back slightly. He roared as the dragons under his control continued swarming above him. Drago chuckled, thinking that the Dragon Slayer's efforts were all for naught. But then he noticed Toothless approaching.
"Take control of it!" he commanded of the Alpha, aiming his bull hook toward the Night Fury. The massive dragon's eyes went slit as his spines vibrated, attempting to hypnotize Toothless to fall under his command again. His sensory organs were picking up on the hypnosis as they shook, but Hiccup covered them.
"Shut it out, Toothless!" he advised seriously.
"STOP THEM!" Drago roared out.
"NOW!" Hiccup yelled, locking Toothless' prosthetic in place. The Bewilderbeast launched a blast of ice towards them, which they flew over, veering back around. Drago cackled upon thinking their attack had been thwarted, but then gasped.
The Night Fury was no longer blindfolded, and his rider wasn't upon his saddle. He grinned toward the dragon army leader, who turned just in time to see Hiccup gliding in thanks to his flight suit. He whisked by Drago, who almost swiped him with his bull hook. Pulling out Inferno, the master dragon rider released the Zippleback gas from it, surrounding his foe entirely atop the Bewilderbeast.
"COWARD!" he roared angrily.
"Fire Dragon…" Natsu's voice began, making him widen his eyes as he looked up to see the Dragon Slayer with a large ball of flames over his head, "BRILLIANT FLAME!" he bellowed, bringing it down. The moment the fire touched the gas, it ignited in a powerful explosion, not only causing the Bewilderbeast to roar with pain, but also send Drago tumbling off of him as he fell to the ground, with his weapon piercing the earth just next to him.
Natsu smirked, but then noticed that the Alpha's tail was being swung toward Hiccup, who was stuck in his glide. He was about to hurry off and help, but then saw Toothless soar in, using his newly-split dual spines to speed himself up. He reached his partner, letting him board as they weaved their way around the spines of the massive dragon's tail. Ultimately, they managed to get above it just in time.
"Yeah!" the Dragon Slayer yelled from below with a pump of his fist. He then heard groans from below, noticing that Drago was trying to push himself up. He jumped down at the same time that Toothless descended to the ground with Hiccup, landing near and surrounding their foe. Drawing his blade and igniting it upon disembarking from his dragon, the rider pitched it out, having it pierce into the ground just as Drago was about to grab his bull hook.
"Agh!" he yelped in agony, having accidentally touched the flames of the ignited blade.
"Hold him there, guys!" Hiccup advised of his friends, who both growled at the dragon army leader, "It's all over now," he declared. Drago grimaced. But then, he noticed something as a shadow started to loom over him and the others. He smirked.
"Or is it?" he asked. Hiccup blinked, and then turned to see the Alpha rising up behind him, ready to attack.
"NO!" Natsu yelled, diving out in front of him with Toothless as the massive dragon blasted his icy breath onto them, seemingly freezing them solid. Drago had braced himself from the attack, looking over to see the mound of ice that his foes wound up encased in. He chuckled, thinking his victory was still well in his hands.
"No! No!" Valka gasped as she came down via her Scuttleclaw, approaching the ice and hitting at it desperately to try and break it. From afar, Astrid and Gobber looked on in horror. Ben seemed concerned for a moment, but then noticed blue and red glows coming from the ice.
"Look!" he exclaimed, enticing everyone to do so, widening their eyes. Valka saw the glows as well, moving back. Drago was surprised by the sight, wondering what was happening. All of a sudden, the ice blasted apart in a flaming explosion. As the smoke settled, it revealed that Toothless, Hiccup and Natsu were alive and well, as the Night Fury's dual spines were glowing an electric blue. He roared angrily in challenge at the Alpha with a blue glow emitting from his mouth as well, followed by glancing back at his rider reassuringly, making him grin.
He then looked over to Natsu, who stood up. Red scales had appeared upon both his arms and head, spread evenly as a serious expression was upon his face. A powerful heat exuded from his body as he stepped forward alongside Toothless, facing down the Bewilderbeast with him. The Night Fury leapt forward, landing upon the tip of a remaining icicle as he roared angrily again to the Alpha, who roared back.
"He's challenging the Alpha!" Hiccup realized out of shock.
"To protect you!" Valka added as she approached. They watched as Toothless fired a plasma blast at the massive dragon's face, making him careen back. He took two more blasts before swinging his mighty tusks at the icicle his foe was perched upon. Though he smashed it, the Night Fury had jumped back, continuing to fire onto the Bewilderbeast.
Little by little, his efforts were bearing fruit as the Alpha was losing concentration on his hypnosis of the other dragons. Stormfly was one of the first to wind up freed from his control, shaking her head. Toothless hopped back over to Hiccup, Natsu, and Valka, calling out to the other dragons. They began flying away from the Alpha, much to his surprise and Drago's.
"No, no, no, no! No!" he exclaimed repeatedly as he ran over, grabbing his bull hook and boarding the Bewilderbeast by his right tusk, "Fight back! Fight! FIGHT!" he commanded of him, "What's the matter with you?!" he yelled angrily in question. The massive dragon couldn't even concentrate, being continuously pummeled with plasma blasts from the Night Fury. All the dragons, from Berk, the Sanctuary, and even the ones that were armored, flew over to Toothless' side, joining him and the rest of the Vikings standing against their foe.
Hiccup and Natsu boarded Toothless, who hopped onto the icicle closest to the cliff, facing off against the Bewilderbeast, though with much more reinforcement than before. Drago could see that the situation had flipped around drastically out of his favor. He glared at the master dragon rider, who gave a firm look back.
"Now do you get it?" he questioned of his foe, "This is what it is to earn a dragon's loyalty," he pointed out, gesturing to the large amount of dragons joining Toothless, "Let this end now," he insisted firmly in warning.
"Never!" Drago refused vehemently, "Come on!" he challenged, enticing the Bewilderbeast to roar mightily. Natsu scoffed, hopping off of Toothless and landing upon the ground just before the massive dragon. He inhaled a deep breath.
"RRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" he roared out mightily, louder than the Alpha as even he flinched. Everyone was stunned by the draconic sound that had left the Dragon Slayer's lips, even Drago. He glanced back to Toothless, who smirked and nodded, seemingly impressed. The Fairy Tail wizard puffed out his chest. "Fire Dragon…" he began, "RRROOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!" he bellowed, unleashing a massive blast of flames from his mouth, striking the Bewilderbeast before he could even try to retaliate. The Night Fury then issued a direction to the other dragons, as they ignited their mouths with fire.
As the Alpha tried to push his way forward, the dragons began pummeling him relentlessly with their fireballs shot from their mouths. Drago was forced to run back along the Bewilderbeast's head, hiding behind his spikes while trying to avoid the incoming fireballs. He breathed heavily with anger.
"FIGHT!" he roared out. In turn, one of the armored dragons managed to strike him with a fireball, knocking off his prosthetic arm. Hundreds of fireballs had struck the Alpha, but he was still trying to fight, rising up above Toothless and roaring angrily. However, as he approached, he was suddenly struck from below by the enflamed left fist of Natsu. What followed was the Night Fury firing off one last plasma blast as he was distracted. It struck the Bewilderbeast's face, breaking off his left tusk as it crashed onto the ground. He roared in pain, stumbling back.
Toothless let out an aggressive roar of triumph, making the massive dragon cower. He was even frightened of Natsu, who merely glared at him. He backed away further, now at the edge of the land.
"The Alpha… protects them all," Hiccup affirmed as he put a hand onto his dragon's head. With that, the Bewilderbeast finally left, plunging into the sea with Drago still on his back. All of the Vikings cheered in victory.
"Huh…" Natsu exhaled, losing the red scales around his body. He looked over to see Toothless smugly soaking up the attention as every dragon was bowing to him now, as he was their new Alpha. He roared in victory, with the rest of them joining in. Afterwards, he turned to Hiccup, who approached.
"You never cease to amaze me, bud," he remarked as he put his hands onto his head, "Thank you," he said gratefully as their foreheads touched. Afterwards, Toothless affectionately started licking his face, making him yelp as he fell to the ground. "Toothless!" he yelled, "You know that doesn't wash out!" he noted, laughing all the while. The Night Fury stopped licking him, perking up as he noticed Natsu coming over. He excitedly made his way to him, tackling him to the ground and licking him as well.
"Hahaha!" he laughed, "Hey, cut it out!" he insisted in between chuckles. The new Alpha stepped back for him to stand back up, while Hiccup approached.
"So… you breathe fire, too?" he recalled, letting out a chuckle, "Your world must be full of crazy stuff, huh?" he presumed.
"That's how it is," Natsu responded, looking around at the dragons reuniting with their riders, "But I've got friends to help me through it, just like you," he affirmed, putting his hands onto his hips. Hiccup grinned.
You know… after all this time dealing with this whole dragon army stuff…" he started to say, "I don't think I ever got your name…" he admitted sheepishly as he approached the Dragon Slayer, who blinked in surprise. He then grinned himself.
"I'm Natsu," he replied, "Natsu Dragneel," he introduced. The new chief of Berk smiled, holding his hand out to the Fairy Tail wizard.
"Thank you, Natsu," he said gratefully. The Dragon Slayer accepted his hand in a firm grasp, smiling brightly. Toothless came over and put his front right leg onto their hands, solidifying their pact as he let out a happy noise, making them laugh.
And so ends the tale of Natsu's first endeavor in the greater multiverse, not only getting to meet Hiccup and the dragons that lived in that universe, but having a greater appreciation for his friendships, ones that he'd forge with even more people down the line. And he and Hiccup will meet again at Berk, though under some more… awkward circumstances… You might already know or not, but it'll come to light in due time.
Farewell for now, everyone.

Insert "Kitakaze" by SIX LOUNGE
Opens with Natsu sitting inside the guild hall on a rainy day, alone at a table as he looks down in thought. He's reflecting on a lot of his past, thinking of Igneel and wondering when he'll get to see him again. A figure comes down beside him, being Happy as he smiles. Lucy then approaches, sitting down right next to him. They laugh together before going to take on a job from the request board.
We see the pair venturing about together, whether along dirt paths or treacherous mountains, where Natsu deals with all sorts of troublesome foes. At some point, they're joined by Gray and Erza during their endeavors, doing all sorts of missions while also accidentally destroying everything in their path. After the seven-year blip, Natsu finds himself a bit lost as to what to do next. He's approached again, only this time by Ben, who offers him his MPG. Grinning, the Fire Dragon Slayer accepts it, running into a green portal formed just outside the guild hall.
There are various scenes of him battling against the likes of the Red Lotus alongside both Ash Ketchum and Naruto, fighting against Midnight with Hinata Hyuga, and working with Gingka to fend off the Hungry Wolf Knights in the catacombs of Crocus. We also see him getting to interact with the likes of Rainbow Dash and Sunset Shimmer, along with becoming good friends with Monkey D. Luffy as they gorge on food together at a picnic. There's also a scene of him facing off against Midnight Sparkle, striking her with an enflamed fist to knock her back.
We go back to the guild hall years later, where he's still sitting at a table by himself before Happy comes over alongside Lucy. She's carrying their blanketed baby girl, Natalie, who giggles. Her father smiles, standing up and patting her head gently before kissing his wife's forehead. The other guild members look on happily.
Natsu blinks for a moment, seeing an empty guild hall. He turns to the door to find his brother, Zeref Dragneel there. He smirks at him, enticing the Dragon Slayer to growl before rushing out at him. They exchange blows before Natsu engulfs everything in flames. When they die down, we see him standing in the remains of the guild, looking toward the horizon. No matter what challenges come his way, he'll look to the future.
He opens his eyes to find that he was dreaming, letting off a smile as he watches his daughter training from afar…
END ENDING
Well, we're finally done with Natsu's story. Honestly, I wish I had gotten it done sooner. To be quite frank, I've really hated how these "Omni Force: ORIGINS" chapters have taken up more time than they really should've. They bog down a lot of my time, especially considering that I'm on a tighter schedule with my work. By the time I do get the next chapter for this story done, I'm going to seriously consider switching things up in terms of the writing schedule.
