"Are you okay?" I asked Emmett as I saw him crying as soon as he came out of Dad's room.
"I never thought he was capable of saying such sweet things," he said as he brushed his tears, "I think I never tried to understand his side. I'm feeling horrible right now."
"Hey..." I said as I put my hand on his shoulder. I couldn't even recall when was the last time I had seen him crying.
"I'm also sorry for all the things I might have said to you in the past to hurt you," he said, "I'm feeling terrible about everything right now."
"Hey... That's okay..." I said.
"He is ready to meet you," Marcus told me.
Emmett had already made me so emotional, and I was not sure if I was ready to talk to him now.
No, I couldn't do this.
I wasn't ready to lose my Dad.
Yes, there were plenty of times where I had been really mad at him, but I was realizing now why he felt it was necessary... He was just trying to get me prepared for the time like this...
"It's not fair, Dad!" I had tears in my eyes, "Everybody is playing. I want to play with them, too. I don't want to come with you to see the Golf match!"
"You need to come with me." he said, "It's time you stop being a kid."
"But I am a kid!" I said.
"Yes, but you're not a normal kid..." he said, "You need to start learning new things now."
"But... I have time." I said.
"Yes, you have time." he smiled, "But at the same time, you don't."
I sighed as I remembered that.
He might not have meant it when he said we didn't have enough time...
'Cancer'... Yes, that's what was going to change our lives.
I never thought the time was going to come so soon.
I didn't think I was ready for it.
I was going to lose my father, my mentor in the very near future, and what would I even do without him?
No!
I was not ready.
I was never going to be ready!
I was going to be a terrible successor!
"Hey Dad..." I said as I entered his room.
"Hey..." he smiled.
He was managing to smile even after he was well aware of what was coming his way. My father was a very strong man!
"I'm well aware of the fact that I have always been very tough on you," he said to me after some time, "But I hope you can understand someday that it was absolutely necessary. I was just trying to get you prepared for the day that's not too far from now. I also want to apologize for all the times I might have hurt you knowingly and unknowingly."
"Dad..." I wasn't able to speak. I was really emotional right now.
"I understand you," I said, "You don't need to apologize."
"You are going to be an amazing king," he said, "Never ever doubt or question yourself."
I just nodded my head.
"I couldn't have asked for a better son. I couldn't have asked for a better successor," he said.
I felt like my eyes were getting welled up now.
"You've done almost everything I've asked you to do..." he said, "Would you do one more thing for me? One last thing?"
"Yes, Dad," I said, "Anything."
"As you know, my first impression about Isabella wasn't very good..." he said.
Oh, he wanted to talk about Isabella?
"But I was wrong," he said, "I honestly believed you both would fall apart, but I'm glad you didn't. I'm glad you stood your ground and I'm glad to see you both have been going very strong for the past three years."
"She's a nice girl, and I thought she'd be ready some day for everything that's coming her way," he continued, "But time is not on her side."
"Yes, it's going to be very tough for her," I said.I was scared even to think about it!
"Look son.. I respect your choice," he said, "But I'll come straight to the point."
"What's that?" I asked.
"I think you should marry Rosalie. She is the queen this country deserves." he said.
I stared at him.
"I want to see you getting married before I die," he said, "That's the last thing I'm asking you to do for me."
