Chapter 35: Battle in Lavender Town
[Lavender Town]
The group had finally made it to their first destination and looked at the famous tower. While the outside showed the building's age, history, and architect. They could see the inside was completely modern. Lynn took a picture of the building, looking unimpressed.
"Well I'm going to see if they'll let me take some pictures of the inside," she told her students. "Are you going to join me or look around the town?"
"Actually, me and Ronnie Anne wanted to go see the new burial ground," Clyde replied.
"Yeah, we could even take a few pictures for you to give Lucy" Ronnie Anne added.
Lynn thought about it before nodding in agreement. "Alright then, we'll meet back at the pokecenter" she said, before becoming serious. "Don't cause trouble and be careful. We don't need another Maiden's Peak incident."
Both teens nodded and walked off to the new burial ground. Lynn watched them for a bit before going inside the famous tower.
"So what made that tower so important?" The young female trainer asked her friend.
"In the past, Lavender Tower was the only place where people could lay to rest their Pokemon," the young male trainer replied. "People from all of Kanto would come to Lavender Town when their Pokemon's time was almost up. Of course now most cities and towns have a place for that, but not back then. The bodies weren't buried in the tower, but land surrounding it. Monuments were then placed in the tower for people to visit."
"I'm guessing when they remodeled the tower, they dug up all the bodies and moved them as well?" She asked.
"Yeah, but it's a little messy," Clyde replied sadly. "Since there were so many and in different states of decay, they couldn't match bodies to monuments. They were moved to a spot of the new grounds and all the tombstones were placed on top of them. Now bodies match tombstones, but there's a spot there with monuments side by side and grouped together."
"Do people still come all the way here just to do that?" Ronnie Anne asked.
"Yeah, people still journey here just to lay their Pokemon to rest" replied with a small smile. "Of course now people have to go through a lot of forums and reserve a spot, but people will do it. This place was the first place where people could bury their Pokemon, it's a part of this place's history."
Ronnie Anne thought about what she was just told. She never thought a cemetery would be so important to a town. The two walked in silence the rest of the way. Upon reaching the new burial ground, they looked like any other cemetery. They walked around and took several pictures of the place, including the area with the group of tombstones.
"I think we got enough for Lucy," Clyde said to his companion.
"Yeah, let's head back-" he suddenly stopped, hearing the sounds of battle. Both looked around each other, before running to the sounds. When they got to the sounds, they saw 2 Pokemon fighting. One was a black bird and the other was a blue green spector with a red beaded necklace.
"It's a Murkrow and Misdreavus," Clyde said in surprise. The 2 were currently fighting, with some of their attacks damaging some of the tombstones.
"Yeah and they're damaging some of the tombstones!" Ronnie Anne shouted in anger. "We need to do something to stop them!"
"Right, let's go Gloom!" Clyde said, sending out his Pokemon.
"Come out Nidorina!" Ronnie Anne said sending out her Pokemon.
The fighting Pokemon stopped when they saw the 2 new Pokemon. Both nodded at each other and teamed up to take on their new opponents. Murkrow used Nightshade and Misdreavus used Psybeam.
"Gloom dodge them, use Growth, then follow with Mega Drain!" The young man shouted.
"Avoid it and use Poison Tail!" The young woman shouted.
Both Pokemon avoided the incoming attacks and moved to attack. Gloom glowed green before he surrounded Misdreavus with a green glow. The glow then went from it to Gloom. Nidorina's tail glowed purple and she swung it towards Murkrow. The attack hit and sent the Darkness Pokemon back. Misdreavus shook it off and used Confusion. Murkrow got back up and used Brave Bird.
"Dodge then use Razor Leaf and Poison Powder!" Clyde ordered.
"Take the hit and use Scratch, then follow it with Bite!" Ronnie Anne ordered.
Gloom tried to dodge, but was hit with the Confusion. It hurt, but he was able to take it. The Weed Pokemon then shot leaves at Misdreavus, hitting it. He then released purple powder, covering the Screech Pokemon and poisoning it. Nidorina took the attack and stayed standing. The Poison Pin Pokemon then scratched Murkrow, then bit him and tossed it away. Murkrow struggled to get up because it was poisoned from Nidorina's Poison Point ability.
"Finish this with Magical Leaf!" Clyde shouted.
"End this with Ice Beam!" Ronnie Anne shouted.
Gloom then released a wave of leaves and sent towards the Ghost Pokemon. Misdreavus tried to dodge the attack, but the leaves followed it. Hitting it and knocking it out. Nidorina shot a familiar blue beam hitting Murkrow, knocking it out as well.
"What should we do now?" Ronnie Anne asked her friend unsure. "Last time I did this, I caught the Pokemon."
"I guess we should catch them," Clyde replied in the same tone. "We can't leave them here like that. We'll catch them, tell someone at the Pokemon center, and see what they want to do with them." With the young girl nodding in agreement, both threw a pokeball. Both balls shook a few times, before they stopped. Ronnie Anne had caught Murkrow and Clyde caught Misdreavus.
"Well we caught them," the female trainer said, picking up her pokeball. "Let's get to the pokecenter and tell someone about this."
"We should also tell Lynn about this," the male trainer said, picking up his pokeball. "You think she'll get mad at us for this?"
"Nah, this situation is completely different then mine and Poochyena incident" Ronnie Anne replied in a relaxed tone. "Come on, we got enough pictures anyways." With that, both trainers made their way to the Lavender Town's pokecenter.
