Queen Barb grinned at the former Pop Queen and tossed her the guitar. "Finish them off." Poppy caught the guitar with one hand, and Queen Barb gestured to the two Funk Troll princes.
Poppy stalked over to them, playing a guitar riff before turning around and backing up to the front of the stage with her hair to the floor. When she made it to the end of the stage, she stood up and aimed the guitar at the twins and her father before winking and aiming the guitar at Queen Barb, her eyes no longer the bright red of a rock zombie.
"What are you doing?" Queen Barb asked, confused. "You're supposed to be a rock zombie!"
Poppy grinned and pulled a couple of gumdrops out of her ears. "Gumdrops," She said grinning. "Soundproof and delicious." She tossed the gumdrops into her mouth to eat them.
"Give me that!" Queen Barb demanded, reaching for her guitar.
"I'm not gonna let you do this to anyone else!" Poppy denied, pulling the guitar back. "A world where everyone looks the same and sounds the same? That's not harmony."
"Hey, Barb?" Riff stood up from his drums. "Maybe Queen Poppy has a point. If we all look the same, act the same, dress the same, how will anyone know we're cool or something?"
Queen Barb and Poppy watched as the Trolls around them nodded at the point Riff was making. "A good queen listens," Poppy said. She turned to see her friends on stage. "Real harmony takes lots of voices." Poppy dodged Queen Barb when she tried to grab the guitar and ran to the front of the stage. "Different voices!" She slammed the guitar to the stage, breaking it and the strings attached. The guitar sent a wavelength of color across the stands before being pulled back into the guitar, taking the Troll's colors with it.
Poppy looked over from the smashed guitar to see Branch standing up. She jumped up and ran over to him. "Branch!"
Branch looked up, confused. "Poppy? What-" His ear twitched when he heard a groan. He turned to see his sister Willow sit up and hold her head. "Willow!" He ran past Poppy and over to his sister. He kneeled down and looked at her. "You're okay!"
Willow nodded and looked at her brother in concern. "You're gray again," she said, disappointed.
"Yeah," Branch nodded. "But I'm okay this time." He showed his sister the rest of the Trolls. "Everyone is gray now. This isn't a health thing."
"It's a music thing," Willow said, as she watched the strings dissolve in Queen Barb's hands.
"What have you done?" Queen Barb demanded, standing up. "You've destroyed music!" She glared at Poppy. "Give it up, everybody. Thanks to the Queen of Pop, we've all lost our music. History repeats itself. Pop has ruined everything."
The crowd was silent before they heard someone laughing. Queen Barb and Poppy turned to see Willow pulling herself up with Branch's help. She was laughing. When she finally stood up, she glared at the two queens. "Don't act like this is all her fault," She said harshly. She pointed at Poppy. "She may have destroyed the strings, but none of this would have happened if you hadn't decided to have this stupid tour in the first place." She pointed to Queen Barb. "This time, it's Pop and Rock that screwed up." She sighed and crossed her arms. "It didn't have to be like this. We could have done wonderful things and been great friends with the other Tribes."
Branch walked over to his sister and pulled her into a hug. "It's okay, sis. We'll be okay." Willow sighed and hugged him back.
The crowd was silent as they began to understand their new reality. A world without music. Willow and Branch held each other close until they heard a beat resonate throughout the stage and audience. They looked up to see Cooper hold a mic to his chest, a pink heart showing in the gray. Cooper's brother Darnell grinned and started beatboxing to the rhythm of his brother's heartbeat.
Queen Essence smiled with pride at her sons. "Those are my sons," She said. "Making music." The group watched the boys until they heard someone start clapping. Willow looked to see Delta Dawn had started clapping to the beat, a yellow heart shining brightly. When she started clapping, a wave of yellow hearts lit up in the crowd as they clapped together. The tribes began to clap together and their hearts lit up. "Queen Barb can't take away something that is inside us," Queen Essense said when the clapping stopped. "Because that's where music really comes from."
"it started with the strings," King Quincy stood by his wife. "But now it comes from us." The Trolls started to vocalize.
"Yeah," King Trollex said, grinning. "It comes from our experiences."
"Our lives," Delta Dawn added.
"Our culture," Queen Essence finished.
"Beautiful!" Trollzart laughed. Willow and Branch grinned. It really was beautiful.
"Listen to that," Poppy said. "Barb can't take that away."
"Nobody can," Willow nodded and listened to the Trolls harmonizing. When the vocalizing stopped, Willow felt Poppy nudge her. She raised an eyebrow at Poppy's encouraging look. She smiled briefly when she realized what Poppy wanted her to do and stepped forward.
(Willow)
Let me hear you sing
Sing it together
Louder than ever
Forget everything
(Willow and Branch)
Just sing
Like it's what we've been missing
And they're gonna listen, listen
Forget everything
Just sing
The two siblings grinned when they felt their colors returned. It was good to be bright again. Queen Barb looked confused when she heard a keyboard start playing. "Dad?" She asked, surprised.
"It's all right, Barbara," King Thrash smiled gently at his daughter. "Just let everyone be what they want to be. Including you." His colors came back as he played.
Poppy grinned and started singing.
(Poppy)
You think you've gotta hide it
Don't keep it on the shelf
Let your waist start moving, watch the way I do it, do it
See me do it like nobody else
Poppy watched as the Funk Trolls started singing along.
(Queen Essence) (Branch and Prince Darnell)
If we sing it all together (If we sing it all as one)
It's not a thing you sell (Once again, everyone)
Everybody's lookin' (See you lookin' now), watch the way we do it, do it (Hol' up, watchin' how I do it)
'Cause we do it like nobody else
Willow laughed with joy as she watched King Trollex join in. He grabbed her hand and dragged her along to start dancing with him.
(Everyone)
Let me hear you sing, don't you stop it, don't you fight it
Let me hear you sing, if you got it, can't deny it
Let me hear you, it's waiting for you
Already, you know that you do it like nobody else
A wave of color washed over the crowd, bringing everyone's colors back to them.
(Everyone)
Just sing, sing it together
Louder than ever, ever, forget everything
Just sing like it's what we've been missing
And they're gonna listen, listen, forget everything (Let me hear you)
(Delta Dawn) (Willow and Branch)
Hey, I've been out here where you standin' (I've been standin' on the ground)
And the walls are cavin' in (All the walls are fallin')
When my lips start movin' with the soul I put into it
And you never heard it done like this
(Everyone) (K-Pop gang and Reggaeton Trolls)
Let me hear you sing, 리듬 타봐 멈추지마
노래불러줘, si lo tienes, no lo niegues
Te quiero oír cantar
It's waiting for you
Already, you know that you do it like nobody else
Just sing, sing it together
Louder than ever, ever, forget everything
Just sing like it's what we've been missing
And they're gonna listen, listen, forget everything
Willow smiled encouragingly at Queen Barb as the other rulers moved to the front of the stage. Trollzart stayed in the background to conduct the orchestra that started playing.
(Tiny Diamond)
I said a-one, two three, and four
Let's go everybody get on the floor
(Everybody)
Let me hear you
(Queen Essence)
Oh, let me hear you sing, yeah
(Everybody)
Let me hear you sing
(Prince Darnell
I want you to sing from your soul
I want you to reach with your elbow
Willow nudged Queen Barb and gestured to her bass. "Wanna rock with me?" She asked, motioning for the queen's guitar.
Queen Barb raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure? I kinda thought you'd be sick of rock by now."
Willow shrugged and strummed a few notes. "What can I say? It's growing on me." She grinned. "Their queen's not half bad either once you get to know her."
Queen Barb grinned when Poppy tossed her the guitar and she started to play, Willow standing beside her on the bass. Queen Barb looked up in awe as her hair mohawk grew larger and had a rainbow added to the mix of colors.
(Queen Barb)
Just sing
Sing it together
Louder than ever, ever
Forget everything
Just sing
A rainbow of colors enveloped Poppy and gave her a rainbow crown and outfit.
(Everyone)(Queen Barb)
Like it's what we've been missing
And they're gonna listen, listen (And Rock)
Forget everything
Just sing
Sing it together
Louder than ever, ever
Forget everything
Just sing
And they're gonna listen, listen
Forget everything
(Poppy)
Just sing
Willow grinned. "That was glorious." She nudged the excited queen as the singing continued. "Your hair looks beautiful like that."
"Thanks," Queen Barb said, grinning. She frowned and looked at the leaders. "I know it's not going to make up for it, but I'm sorry for all the damage I caused to your homes. I was so swept up in my desire to unite the world, that I forgot what makes the world so special to begin with."
King Trollex looked to the other Tribe leaders and they nodded. "You're right," he said, looking at Queen Barb. "It doesn't make up for all the damage." Queen Barb looked down, in understanding.
"But it's a start," Queen Essence said smiling.
"You're young," Delta Dawn said, amused. "You're gonna mess up, and that's okay. Maybe not to this magnitude again. But you owned up to it."
"And as long as you're willing to help clean up the mess you made," King Quincy added. "I don't see a reason this can't be forgiven."
Queen Barb nodded. "I'd be happy to," she said grinning.
"Well," Poppy walked over to the group. "Now that you're not forcing me, I hope we can be friends."
Queen Barb grinned excitedly. "Yes!" She pointed to her friend. "Did you hear that, Carol? We have a girl group now!" She pulled Poppy and Willow close to her.
The Rock Troll Queen Barb was talking to paused from eating her can of cheese spray. "A girl group? Nice!" She threw the can of cheese away.
"Yeah!" Queen Barb grinned. "Carol!" She laughed. "She's psyched."
Willow grinned and watched Queen Barb walk away.
"Branch," Poppy said as he walked up. "I love that we're different.
Branch smiled gently. "And I love you, Queen Poppy."
Poppy smiled. "I love you, too, Branch."
Willow grinned. "Well, it's about time!" She shouted, leaning on her brother. "You've been working up the nerve to do that for months." "Willow?" Poppy asked. Willow frowned, tired, and looked at her friend. "I want to tell you how truly sorry I am for leaving you behind. I could give you a million reasons as to why we did that, but we both know it wouldn't matter. We could have ignored Hickory and stayed with you. And because we didn't, you and Branch were separated and you were captured a day later. Queen Barb was right, you are one of my best friends and I hurt you." She held a hand up when Willow was about to say something. "I don't expect you to forgive me. I know this isn't something you should forgive so easily. And I'm willing to wait as long as it takes for you to be ready."
Willow nodded. "I have some issues with my family leaving me that's stopping me from forgiving you right now." She gestured towards her brother. "I need to spend some time with my brother here before I think I'll be ready for something like that."
"Yeah," Branch nodded. "I know we just admitted our love for each other, but I need to focus on Willow for a little while. The feelings are good right now, but you and I both know that once the party stops, those feelings are going to rear their ugly heads again."
Poppy nodded. "I understand." She smiled. "Like I said, I'm willing to wait for as long as you need. She turned to the crowd. "I'm going to go mingle. I'll see you both later?"
Willow nodded and grabbed her brother's hand. "Come on! I want to introduce you to my new friends!" Branch laughed as she dragged him to the different leaders and reintroduced him to Delta Dawn as well as formal introductions to King Trollex and the Classical Conductor, Trollzart.
"King Trollex was telling me he wanted to take me to something he calls a 'rave'." She told her brother. "And Delta Dawn is so nice!" She smiled sheepishly. "You know when you're not blasting Pop music in her face and causing property damage. Trollzart offered to teach me the violin too. He has an appreciation for the fancier things in life."
King Trollex laughed as the Pop Troll was telling her brother about the friends she made while they were imprisoned. "I think you're starting to overwhelm him, Sweet Beat. And I do remember asking you to drop the 'King' part of that." It was true, Willow realized. She turned to her brother who looked a little dazed at all the names she was throwing at him. She gave a sheepish 'sorry' as the name the Techno King had given his sister finally registered.
"Sweet Beat?" Branch asked, crossing his arms. "Why'd you call her that?"
"'Cause she's so sweet, she should be made of sugar," Trollex said, grinning. "And she's passionate. You know, she yelled at Queen Barb because we weren't getting taken care of? She didn't know us and cared about our well-being anyway." He reached over and gave the Pop girl a hug. "We wouldn't be here if it weren't for her."
Willow blushed into the hug. "I was just doing what any decent Troll would do," She protested. She returned the hug. "I'm glad you're okay."
Branch frowned at the closeness of the two when King Quincy and Queen Essence walked over. "Looks like someone has gained the attention of the Techno King," King Quincy told Branch quietly. He chuckled at the grumpy look on the Pop Troll's face. "Techno Trolls are pretty forward with their intentions, so I don't think he means her any harm."
"Doesn't mean I have to like it," Branch grumbled as he watched the Techno King shamelessly flirt with his sister. The idea of anybody flirting with his little sister made him feel gross.
"If that upsets you," Prince Darnell said walking up. "You're going to hate it when Queen Barb starts." He grinned at the shocked look on Branch's face. "Pretty sure I saw some looks she was throwing your sister's way earlier."
"There's two of them?!" Branch shouted. He groaned at the thought of his little sister dating two people. "Great, just what I needed. Thanks, man, really appreciate it." He grumbled as he went and grabbed his laughing sister from the Techno King. "Great meeting you, King Trollex, but I want to introduce my sister to some others before we leave."
Willow looked at her brother confused. "You met some Trolls too?" She grinned. "Great! Let's go meet them!" She waved at Trollex as they walked away. "I'll see you later, okay?"
Trollex grinned as the sibling duo walked away. "You just had to go for Willow, didn't you?" Prince Darnell laughed as he stood beside the Techno King.
"She's pretty great," Trollex nodded as he waved, a dreamy expression on his face. "So compassionate and wonderful. Why wouldn't I at least try?"
"Probably because Branch already looks like he's planning where he's going to hide your body," Cooper said, standing by his brother. Trollex looked beside the Troll he was watching leave to see her brother giving him a death glare while Willow was chatting with the K-Pop girls. Branch changed his glare to a grin at something Willow said before moving on to the Reggaeton Trolls.
Trollex chuckled nervously. "He wouldn't do anything, would he?"
"I don't know," Cooper shrugged. "Nobody's ever tried flirting with Willow before. But he did have a bunch of traps around the village and then there's the bunker they live in. We don't know what all he's willing to do to keep her safe."
Trollex gulped in fear and nodded. "Noted." He had a stupid grin on his face as he watched Willow embarrass her brother in front of his bounty hunter friends. "I think she might be worth the death threats though."
The Funk royalty looked at the Techno King and shrugged. If he wanted to try, who were they to stop him?
I've had some people concerned I would have Willow forgive Poppy too easily. And I understand that. Which is why she didn't. But I think it's important to recognize that the whole situation was complicated. She was on a time crunch and Hickory just broke down the cell door. Could they have stayed? Sure. But they panicked and that doesn't make for great decisions. Willow understands that even if she hasn't forgiven her yet.
Anyway, I loved writing this and I am looking forward to Trollstopia. I am not doing every episode. And I'm going to be throwing in some extra stuff that's Willow-focused. Can't wait to start writing it! Thanks for reading the World Tour arc! See you next time!
