Seretao made everyone remember everything they had forgotten due to the Shark King's use of Time Vent. The Salacian war effort was derailed as a result, with more and more soldiers deserting their armies and kingdoms to join the rebel faction led by the Turtle Kingdom. The kingdoms among the rebel faction were enabled to rise up against the Shark King again now that they knew the truth of what he did.
At the same time, Whale King Giddeon established his own faction of Revengers, made up of salines and animals who supported the war, but didn't agree with the Shark King's methods. It harkens back to how Thorn invited animals to live in the Abysmal Kingdom in exchange for protection from Dryland. He kept his HIV diagnosis a secret for fear of the repercussions that would happen if he were to be "outed". When rumours spread about Giddeon's attack on his own family, Giddeon's followers justified it with excuses such as "So what? Even a broken clock is right twice a day," or "I don't have to agree with the person, but I agree with the cause."
As for the clone situation, Seretao and Miss Marla covered it up as a third-party plot. Speaking as spokespersons from the Shark Kingdom, they told everyone that an independent investigation was currently underway and that the clones will be controlled as they appear. The next problem they had to find a solution for was how to differentiate between original and clone.
The next day, Seretao, Duante and Miss Marla called Polvina, Ester and Tubarina to the Sea School to discuss something. As they arrived, there was a nostalgic feeling among the girls as they hadn't been to school in a while, either because of their graduation or because of the war.
"Good morning, girls," greeted Miss Marla.
"Good morning, Miss Marla," they replied.
Ester said, "Gee, it feels so weird coming back here to see you, Miss Marla."
"Yeah," said Tubarina. "Sometimes it feels like we're still in school!"
"We're not in trouble, are we, Miss Marla?" cheekily asked Polvina, winking at her.
"No, you're not in trouble," replied Miss Marla, winking back. "For once, I can say that I'm glad you're still getting yourselves into trouble."
Seretao said, "Now that we've begun derailing the Shark King's plans, we need to move onto the next step. We need to gather as many people as we can to make a stand against the Shark King."
Duante added, "We know the Turtle King's raised a rebel army against the Shark King, but his objective is to take him down, which isn't what we want. The Whale King's new faction is another obstacle as well."
Miss Marla finished, "We need to bring every kingdom in Salacia together and form a united front to call for a ceasefire between our world and Dryland. We'll speak to the Turtle King and see if we can convince him to come around to our way of thinking. The rest is up to you girls."
"Yes, Miss Marla," the girls said before everyone burst into laughter over how nostalgic that felt.
Once everyone stopped laughing, Polvina asked, "How should we break the news to everyone?"
Seretao answered, "Everyone knows all the times they died before but they don't know why they came back to life each time. They deserve an explanation, so just tell everyone the truth about everything. If they don't believe you straight away, then don't push it. Come back in a day or two and try again."
The girls went back to the Shark Palace, comfortable to freely talk now that the Shark King was on Dryland beefing with Parker Zhou on social media. In Tubarina's room, Polvina was on her phone watching a video of Shark King Trebon and Parker arguing over where and when their fight would be, disappointed at the current state of affairs. Tubarina took out a whiteboard and drew up a table, intending to make a list of whose side each kingdom was on.
Tubarina began, "Right, which kingdoms do we know are still loyal to my father?"
Ester answered, "Well, the Penguin Kingdom is one of them because Isa's a high-ranking commander. Oh, and the Narwhal Kingdom is too because of Nico and Nicole. Can we count the Swordfish Kingdom as well?"
"We can because of King Marcos, but I think Marli's turning over to the other side. Anyway, how about the kingdoms who are loyal to the Turtle King?"
"Well, the Turtle Kingdom, for starters, then the Dolphin and Porpoise Kingdoms. I'm sure Delfi and Dylan hate seeing their species suffer, even if they delighted in slaughtering Drylanders before."
"Yeah… I hate how Veto and his friends have fallen out because of this war. I hope they can all stand with us so we can stop fighting with the Drylanders."
"I can't think of anything else, Tubarina. Hey, Polvina, do you have any ideas?" Ester had turned to Polvina, who was still looking at her phone. "Polvina?"
"Hey, Polvina, get off your phone!"
Polvina was startled at Tubarina's voice. "What? Oh, sorry, what were you asking?"
"Do you know which kingdoms are loyal to the Shark King or the Turtle King?" asked Tubarina.
Polvina thought for a moment as she looked at the whiteboard. "Hmm… Maybe it would be easier to ask who we can convince to join our cause. Like Leia and the Whale Queen, for instance. Their kingdom may be broken but we can help them bring it back together."
"That's a good idea," replied Ester. "I'm sure a lot of princes and princesses want this war to end after everything they've learnt. If we focus on them, their kingdoms should hopefully follow suit!"
It was then that Marcello knocked on the door to Tubarina's room. "Yes, Marcello?" Tubarina asked, turning around to look at him.
"Tubarina, can I talk to you alone for a moment?"
"Why? What's so important that Polvina and Ester can't hear about it too?"
"No, really, I need to talk to you alone. I saw Uncle going into this room…"
That caught Tubarina's attention as she stopped Marcello from speaking any further. Turning back to the girls, she told them, "Hey, why don't you girls go and talk to the other princes and princesses. Marcello and I'll join you soon. After all, we've got a lot of royals to convince!" Polvina and Ester looked at each other, confused for a moment, but they brushed their concerns off and left to do what they needed to do. Tubarina then turned back to Marcello. "You found that room too? Did you take a look inside?"
"Yeah," replied Marcello, "Wait, since when did you know about that room?"
"For a few days now. Come on, walk with me." Tubarina and Marcello left the former's room and began walking to the Shark King's forbidden room at the end of the corridor.
"I took a look inside the room but I didn't understand what's inside. What is Uncle planning?"
"He's constructing weapons of mass destruction that could allow him to cinch the war in a matter of days. He's also been using the power of the world behind the mirror to get to and from Dryland in a matter of seconds. How do you think Father's been able to film his reels on Dryland and make it back home for dinner?"
Tubarina and Marcello reached the room and went inside. They both took a look at all the equipment inside and the mirror hooked up to the middle of the room. Marcello asked, "You think we should take some of this equipment and use it against Uncle?"
Tubarina replied, "We'd better not. Father would know if we used anything in here."
Marcello leaned his body on the mirror and it made a sound as part of him went through. Hearing this, Marcello quickly stepped away from it. "Whoa… this is how Uncle can go between Dryland and back? Well then, don't mind if I do!" Marcello jumped through the mirror.
"Marcello!" Tubarina saw this and quickly rushed over. She was apprehensive about going through, but she couldn't let her cousin, who was like a brother to her when Veto wasn't around, be left behind or get into trouble on his own, so she quickly followed after him.
Tubarina and Marcello found themselves flying through a portal into a mirror dimension, where everything was a mirror image of itself. As if by magic, the two continued to fly out of Salacia and into Dryland, then through another portal that took them from Santos to Yokohama, where they emerged from a reflective surface in a dark, abandoned building somewhere in Yokohama.
"Ohh…" groaned Marcello. "I can see how the war can end quickly thanks to that."
"Yeah, that was a rough ride," commented Tubarina. "Maybe the other equipment could have given us a more stable trip through the mirror. Come on, we should head back."
"No way! I want to know why Uncle had all that equipment in that room. Where is he?"
"I don't know. He's probably making another one of his stupid reels- mmf!"
It was then that Mauricio and Liam kidnapped Tubarina and Marcello. Parker had gotten wind of them arriving in Yokohama through Seretao. Deciding to turn his feud with King Trebon up a notch, he had Mauricio and Liam kidnap the two royals and bring them to him.
At the same time, the Shark King was tipped off to Tubarina and Marcello going through the mirror. He did have a feeling that Tubarina and her friends would begin snooping around eventually, but he never thought they would actually go through the mirror even though he really should have expected it with the way he left things unsecured.
He went to the abandoned building where Tubarina and Marcello ended up, the same place where he usually came out of on his trips through Mirror World. He looked around and called to see if they were there. "Tubarina? Marcello?" He kept calling a few more times, but neither of them were to be seen, making him angry and distraught. "Curse you, Society's Kongming!" he said to himself.
In response to this, Trebon made a video at his Yokohama hideout. "My children have gone missing, Society's Kongming. If I find you've messed with them, I'll make you walk around hungry." This was an idiomatic expression meaning that Parker was in trouble and he would bear the consequences. "And to my friends, comrades and brethren back in Salacia, rest assured that I'll be able to take care of this and return to my duties very soon, so thank you for your support. Just you wait for me, Society's Kongming."
Later that day, Parker posted a video proving that he did have Tubarina and Marcello. Parker confronted the captured royals and officers as Mauricio, Liam and Angelina sat nearby. "Well, well, if it isn't my greatest rivals. Such a shame your other brother couldn't join us." Parker was referring to Veto, who was back in Salacia. "Now take your crowns off. Do it, take your crowns off!" Marcello took his crown off, but Tubarina was hesitant to do so. "Take it off!" said Parker, throwing his drink in Tubarina's face.
With their crowns off, Marcello and Tubarina looked like regular beachgoers. Marcello had a muscular build while Tubarina was ample and curvaceous. Their swimwear-like attire, however, made them look like fish out of water (pardon the pun) in an inland city like Yokohama. It felt a bit weird for them to have their hair uncovered, especially on Dryland, given that they usually covered it with their crowns. "Let's see if your father comes to save you. That'll teach you to wear bullpussy in front of me." Parker then turned to the camera. "I'm coming for you, King Trebon."
Back in Salacia, the news of Tubarina and Marcello being kidnapped had spread like wildfire. Polvina and Ester, who had been talking to the other princes and princesses and convincing them to join their cause, were watching Parker's videos on the former's phone in the main street of Salacia. "Oh no… what trouble did Tubarina and Marcello get into now?" said Polvina.
"More to the point, how did they manage to get from the Shark Palace to Yokohama that fast? It must have been that mirror thing Seretao told us about!" surmised Ester.
Veto, Dinho and Hugo found the two girls and went up to them. Veto asked, "Polvina! Ester! Did you see?"
Ester replied, "Yes. We all did."
"What should we do now?" asked Dinho.
"There's not much we can do," replied Polvina. "It would take hours to head to Yokohama in a convoy."
"I just hope Marcello is alright," said Hugo.
"Hey, don't forget Tubarina as well!" retorted Veto. "That's my family in trouble up there!"
The Shark Queen Mariana was nearby as well, along with the Starfish Queen Silvana and Octopus Queen Vinila. "Veto? Veto!"
"Mother! What are you doing here?"
"Oh, Veto!" Mariana gave her son a hug. "This is what I warned your father about. I knew he'd get our family in trouble if he kept messin' with the Drylander commander like that!"
Off to the side, Silvana and Vinila were commenting on the whole situation. "This is just sad," said Silvana. "Has the war made that fuckboy turn senile and forget his family in his attempts to own the Drylanders?"
"I thought we agreed never to call the Shark King a fuckboy again," said Vinila. "After all, remember how we met our husbands all those years ago? It's not our fault things turned out the way they did."
"I know, you're always right as usual. Come on, slut or not, that's all in the past and Mariana deserves our support now." Silvana and Vinila went to Mariana and comforted her, like daughter like mother.
Polvina got a text on her phone. "It's from Father. He says he's got Tubarina and Marcello covered and tells us not to worry."
Ester replied, "In that case, let's hope your father knows what he's doing. Come on, we've got to keep convincing people."
Back on Dryland, Parker made a video where he stepped on Marcello and Tubarina's feet and forced them to laugh as he twisted his foot on theirs. Later, Trebon filmed himself video calling Parker. "Do you have my children? Are they with you right now? Tell me now, I've got no time for your games. Are my children in your hands?" asked Trebon.
"Do you really want to know?" replied Parker.
Trebon started to become frantic. "What in Salacia's name did you do to them?"
"If you want to know where your children are, come alone and beg for them and I might consider letting my playthings go."
"I'm begging you here."
"Then kneel down and call me Daddy!"
"Don't be bloody ridiculous!"
Tubarina and Marcello began calling out in the background. "We're here, Father/Uncle! Help us!"
"Where are my children? Tell me where you are, Parker, and-"
Parker had turned to Tubarina and Marcello. "Did I say you could talk?"
Parker did something to them off-camera, which led Trebon to say, "Don't hurt my children, Parker!"
"Call me fucking Daddy!"
Trebon offered to give himself up in exchange for Tubarina and Marcello, much to the objection of Starfish King Esteban and Octopus King Paul, the latter having another plan in mind.
Trebon filmed his next video after that. "Give me half an hour, Society's Kongming. I'm coming over to find you and give myself in exchange for my children. See you then."
"Sit down, Trebon," said Paul as he and Esteban stopped Trebon from leaving.
"This has nothing to do with you two. My children are in danger!"
Esteban replied, "What do you mean we have nothing to do with it? Our daughters are best friends. Tubarina and Marcello are just as much our children as they are yours!"
Paul added, "Not only that, they're fellow royals as well. Don't you remember the Fifth Law of Salacia? Your kingdom is just as much our responsibility as it is yours." The Octopus King recalled the time during their daughters' first day of school when there was an imbalance in Salacia and he tried to get the Shark King to do something about sharks attacking octopuses.
"You two stay out of this." Trebon got up, but Esteban and Paul continued to stop him.
"Please, leave this to us," pleaded Esteban. "You'll only get yourself in trouble too!"
"I have a plan to save your children," said Paul. "Just trust me. I promise I can get them out of there."
"Do you know what kind of person Parker is?" replied Trebon. Esteban and Paul tried to leave the room but Trebon stopped them. "You don't even know what he's capable of!" Esteban and Paul shoved his hands off of them before leaving the room, leaving Trebon alone. He kicked the table in anger. "Damn it! It's all my fault! I'm useless!"
Esteban and Paul walked the streets of Yokohama, hoping to get far enough away from Trebon so that he wouldn't notice. "What happened to our friend? He used to be more serious than that, now he's acting like a fool," commented Esteban.
"Much as I hate to say it, it isn't really his fault," replied Paul. "His father put a lot of pressure on him as the successor to the most important man in Salacia. And remember all that stuff that happened when we were at school and we met the girls who would become our future wives? The Shark King felt so bad about your wife coming between him and the Shark Queen, then we called him a fuckboy for it just as we called the Shark Queen a slut."
"Yeah… and what about that stuff between him and King Marcos as well? That was all the fault of his parents, the old Shark royals. You were right, you know."
"About what?"
"About how bullies are made, not born. The Shark King rules with an iron fist, but we know the cruel and brutal things behind the scenes that other people forget or don't know. I guess 'iron fist' is just another word for 'tyrant'."
"You got that right. He's been through so much over the years I'm surprised he didn't snap sooner. Maybe he snapped before the war and we just didn't know it."
Esteban saw Paul taking out his phone. "What are you planning to do now?"
"I have my resources. We'll get Tubarina and Marcello out in no time." He called his butler back at the Octopus Palace. "Aldo, send for the Pangolin."
