Bubble Guppies Adult Years

Chapter 13: The Fast and The Deema (Part 1)

It's official! Goby Imani and Deema Wahler are engaged! The news spread throughout the city. Many people were happy with the compromise, a few not at all. But regardless of that, both guppies were happy with the decision and it didn't take them long to start analyzing the preparations for the wedding. Despite that, each had a normal life to work on. Let's look at a normal day in a large building in Big BubbleCity, it was the headquarters of the successful supermarket chain called "BubbleMart". As some of you may know, our beloved wild-haired guppy had an important job as a sales executive. She was at a conference with the most important people in the company

"...And with this project, an increase in profits of 20% is expected without the need to subject our employees to long and stressful days. In this way, both we and the employees and customers will benefit, which is the most important thing. This way we will comply with the ethical and legal code, and in turn we will generate better income. Thank you very much for your attention" It was Deema making a presentation to the board members. Although she is an outgoing and dramatic guppy, at work she behaved very professionally. She dressed like an important businesswoman. The executives applauded politely.

"Thank you very much for the presentation of your project, Miss Wahler. Your proposal is one of the best we have heard in recent years. It is very evident that you have studied and researched every aspect that must be taken into account for such an important reform. If your project goes well, we can expand our company to have more offices in Europe and Asia" A snail man in a formal suit evaluated the business proposal.

"Miss Wahler, I am pleased to inform you that the Executive Council is considering opening a vacancy due to Mr. Franklin's retirement. And of all the candidates, we consider that you are the person capable of carrying out that position" A lobster man with a mustache and white beard informed all the people present about the great news.

"Mr. Moon, it is a great honor. I have been waiting for an opportunity like this since I joined this company three years ago" Deema said politely.

"There are processes that we must work on, but I estimate that your official appointment could be a few months" Mr. Moon said quietly.

"Oh...About that, sir...Hmmmm...I didn't want to say it this way but...It will be difficult for me because...in a few months...I am going to get married" Deema said nervously.

"That's a shame, it looks like someone else will have to take the posi-" A lobster woman with short black hair was thinking of ruining Deema's chance.

"Ahem! There is no problem. Your promotion can wait when you return from your marriage vacation. We are under no pressure to appoint someone. By the way, congratulations, Miss Wahler" Mr. Moon politely congratulated her. Everyone applauded too. The woman who spoke earlier only clapped her hands sarcastically. She didn't look very happy for Deema. A short time later, everyone returned to their offices. The blonde girl was going to continue her work until she received a nice visit.

"Excellent presentation, Deema! You were incredible in that office" The lobster man arrived offering him a glass of coffee. She happily accepted.

"Don't exaggerate, Mr. Moon. I only learned from the best. I learned a lot from you, sir" The blonde guppy smiled.

"I always knew you were the one for the job. I feel proud to know that we have been working together for three years and you have progressed more than others" Mr. Moon said proudly.

"I try to be the best business woman in town!" She said excitedly. She and Mr. Moon trusted each other, so knowing Deema's fun personality "By the way….Mrs. Murray didn't seem happy with my promotion"

"Hmmm nah. She never liked the idea of working with someone with "extravagant hair"...At least those were her words. Well, we always meet people who don't like us" Mr. Moon explained a bit "Whatever, I want to congratulate you for your wedding commitment. You always told me how cool that Goby guy was" He said sincerely.

"Yeah! Goby is the coolest guy I know. I love him for that. Besides, he can tolerate my craziness" Deema said funnily.

"I hope so. Whoever is the person you are going to marry should know how to understand your...special personality hehehe" Mr. Moon joked a bit.

"Hehehe you´re right, sir"

"Ahem…Alright….I have to go to another meeting. Go back to what you were doing and don't forget the report for this Friday" The lobster man told her.

"Another one, huh? You're always in meetings, one after another" She commented funnily.

"Yup. That's the boss's life, my little padawan. Anyway, see you!" The man left, leaving her to work alone. Deema began using her computer to carry out her work as an executive. At that moment, a call came in on her cell phone.

RING! RING!

"Ahem…Hello?" Deema took the call.

"Hello, my dear Deema" That call was not friendly at all. She knew who that person was.

"(sigh) You again. What do you want? I already paid you this month's fee!?" The blonde-guppy asked bothered.

"Oh! It's nothing special, dear. I just wanted to tell you that in a few days it is "our anniversary." It will be five years since "the incident." And do you know what that means?"

"Grrrr! I know! For each year that passes, the fee increases... Isn't it?" She asked bothered.

"I see you're smart. I don't know why they say blondes are stupid hahaha... Possibly it's going to be twice as much"

"The double?! You're losing your mind!"

"If you keep talking to me with that tone of voice it will be triple. Anyway, I know you're getting married... You can use your husband's money to pay... Of course, if you know what's best for you"

"It's not fair! Why don't you leave me alone with that?!" Deema started crying.

"Don't start crying, darling! I'm the good one here. If I were bad, I would have already exposed your secret to everyone. And we all know you don't want that, huh? But silence has a price, you know? So, don't cry and do your thing. After all, you are someone of good social class, you just don't admit it. Anyway, I have business to attend to. See you, my dear blonde...Hehehe" The subject ended the call. Deema simply put her cell phone away and covered her face with her hands to continue crying a little. What is it that torments Deema?

On the other hand, we see another guppy in Big BubbleCity working on a building under construction. The boy was in an office, watching the progress in the construction.

"Perfect. If we follow the design carefully, we will finish in 5 months" It was Goby. He was the main architect of the construction. He worked for a major construction company. He supervised certain constructions from time to time. He was working on other plans before someone visited him.

"Ahem…Mr. Imani….Someone comes to visit you. She is another architect of the company. She says she knows you" A crab man said.

"Hmmm her? Alright, let her in" Goby ordered. He was curious who the girl was that was looking for him.

"What´s up, Goby!" The guppy appeared in front of him.

"Huh?! Oh! Wilma!" He greeted her happily. Wilma was a mulatto skinned guppy with beautiful shiny black dreadlock hair and her tail was one piece patterned with red, yellow and green colors. And her eyes were brown. She was Goby´s college classmate. One of his best friends.

"It's a pleasure to see you here. I work in a nearby company. I just delivered some plans. And I noticed you were here, so I decided to give you a quick visit. I see we're both doing well in what we do, huh?" Wilma asked him.

"Yeah….They are paying me well for the plans. Project season is coming soon. It will be a little tiring, but it is where they pay much better" Goby explained a bit "I'm glad you came here"

"I say the same, friend. Since I came I keep looking for my sister...But, it's strange...I haven't found much...It's like no one wants to know that she existed" Wilma commented worriedly. Goby looked a little uncomfortable. Since Wilma revealed that her sister was Robynn, the boy didn't know how to talk about it. Robynn was a dangerous member of the feared Sinister Guppies. How do you tell her sister that her older sister was an evil and cruel girl and that she is currently in prison? It was difficult, because Wilma was nothing like Robynn. The younger sister was much kinder, funnier, and was creative like Goby.

"I'm sure you'll find her. It's just a matter of time" The dark blue-haired guppy answered.

"Yeah…anyways….I found out something, Goby... Are you seriously getting married?! Wow! That is incredible! Let me guess, it's Deema, isn't she?" Wilma asked very excitedly.

"That's how it is! I finally took the risk. I asked her, and she said yes. We'll probably get married in a few months" Goby replied happily.

"So cool! Congratulations, dude!" The dark-skinned guppy girl commented.

"Speaking of which...Wilma, would you like to go to the wedding? You were my best friend from college. It would be a pleasure if you came to the ceremony" Goby invited her.

"Oh wow! I don't know what to tell you...I feel too honored...Hmmmm I'm going to think about it carefully...I just want to continue looking for my older sister" She admitted.

"That's okay. You are cordially invited" He smiled.

"Hehehe thanks. Congratulations, mate!" Both guppies bumped their fists as a friendly greeting. She withdrew, leaving Goby with an uncomfortable feeling in his chest. Guilt, perhaps?

"(sigh) How will I tell her?"

Some time passed and the future couple began to plan the wedding. They had to take into account the place, date, guests, food, and all the logistics that were involved. Luckily, they both had experience thanks to Molly and Gil's wedding. Deema proposed an extravagant wedding like those of the first married guppies, but Goby preferred something simpler. They were going to fix those details over time. The important thing is that they both began to create savings with both salaries to create the budget for the wedding. That money would be for the entire process. However, Deema was having a mental dilemma. She thought about using that money to pay her debt collector. But she also analyzed that it is not fair. She decided to take courage and took her cell phone to make a brave call.

"Hmmmm Hello? I´m busy now, you know"

"It´s me, Deema"

"Oh! It's you, my dear friend! Why are you calling me? Do you miss me? Do you know that you don't have to pay yet?"

"Listen to me! I'm not going to continue with this silly game of yours. I'm going to get married soon and if I keep paying you, I won't be able to be with the man I love. We must finish this now!" She said with a defiant tone.

"Oh, now you want to play tough with me, huh? Do you want me to ruin your life?"

"You're a coward, you know? If you didn't have that information you would have no power over me. Listen to me, we must end this. I dare you to meet at "that place" in two days. If you don't show up, I'll take it for granted that you're a coward" Deema proposed a new deal.

"Do not be ridiculous. Do you think I care if you think I'm a coward or not?"

"Maybe not to you...But what happens if your friends find out that you didn't accept the challenge? You will lose loyalty. And your pride will be on the ground. I know that something you love more than money is respect...And if they see that you didn't accept a girl's challenge…" Deema said with a smirk.

"Hmmmm That was a low blow, Deema. Very good. I accept your challenge. I'll give you the details when we meet. At 8pm in two days. You already know the place"

"I'll look forward to that day, bastard" Deema cut the call. Our blonde girl decided to prepare for a long trip. She prepared several things. She took money, her cell phone, and changed her clothes radically. Her clothes seemed to make it look like she was a tough girl looking for trouble. She wore a white blouse with a black vest and ripped jeans. With that outfit, no one could identify her. And that was the goal. She simply took a suitcase and went to take her yellow car. She knew it would be a long trip.

Deema announced that she would not go to work due to external matters. She didn't call anyone. Not to her friends, not even to Goby. She planned to disappear for those days. She drove several hours until she arrived at a bar that was on the outskirts of the city in a mountainous area. Nobody was going to identify her there. Deema simply wanted to go unnoticed in a place as hostile as that bar. There were many people, mostly men, a little aggressive. She sat across from the bartender and simply ordered a lemonade. She wanted to maintain a tough profile, even if only for appearance (she had to apply her acting skills)

"Do you want something more, girl?" The bartender asked her.

"Hmmmm….I'm looking for a friend of mine, Big W" Deema answered.

"Hmmmm I think he left an hour ago. Good luck finding him" He answered rudely. Deema thought about retiring until she accidentally bumped into someone. He was a red fish in a gang outfit.

"Hey! Do you want to have problems, shorty?" He asked rudely.

"I don't want problems with anyone, sir" Deema said as she thought about taking something out of her jacket. She had a hidden taser. She would never go on that trip without being armed. The fish had intentions of harming her until someone entered the bar.

"Hey, dude! Leave her alone. She is our friend..." Just in time, five large, intimidating sharks arrived. The youngest member was a blue shark named member was Tyrone, a bull shark who wore a helmet with bull horns. Another was a tiger shark that had tattoos all over its body in the shape of tiger stripes named Raz. Another was a hammerhead shark named Hammer. And their leader was the greatest. A white shark that had a tattoo on its right shoulder with a broken dorsal fin and scars on its face. The leader, Big W. Together they were: "The Fangs of the Road." They were friends with Deema since they met in a funny incident when the blonde was learning to drive.

"O-Okay…I'm leaving" The red fish left them.

"Hiya!"

"What´s up, Deema!"

"It's been a long time, Deema" Big W said happily.

"Guys, I missed you too. But I'm afraid this is not a friendly visit...Guys, I need your help" Deema started to explain something very important.

Meanwhile, somewhere else. There was a lot of work at the BubbleTucky Police Department. We can see that a couple of police officers were carrying out a new investigation.

"(sigh) Hmmmm this case is more complex than I expected. It seems that there are more victims than what they tell us" Officer Miranda said seriously.

"That's how it is. I suspect it is from the person we have been investigating for days" It was Gil Gordon. Finally, he returned to duty after having enjoyed his honeymoon with his new wife.

"Arf Arf" Bubble Doggy barked excitedly. At that moment, both officers noticed that a group of people quickly entered the office.

"GIIIILLLL!" The blue-haired guppy saw that in front of him were almost all the guppies. Molly, Goby, Oona, Nonny, Zooli and Urchin arrived at the office.

"Excuse me! I tried to stop them, but they were so insistent on coming to see you two" It was Larry, a fish who was the police receptionist.

"Don't worry. We take care of this. Return to your position" Officer Miranda said quietly. He obeyed and left.

"Is something wrong, guys? We are in the middle of an important investigation" Gil asked curiously.

"This is important too, man! Deema has disappeared!" Goby said that in an alarmed manner. Everyone looked worried. Bubble Doggy made a sad sound.

"Another guppy gone! No again!" Miranda said worriedly.

"But this time it's different. We have called her many times, but she ignores the calls. She NEVER ignores any call" Molly said with great concern.

"We suspect something strange is going on here. Deema would never do that" Oona added.

"Hours have already passed. We are about to complete 24 hours of not knowing anything!" Zooli commented.

"Very good. Everybody calm down. If Deema has her cell phone, we can locate her. It won't take long to find her" Gil ordered quietly. Between him and Miranda they began to use a computer to begin tracking the blonde girl's cell phone. It took them 30 to 45 minutes to finally find a clue.

"Guppies, we have an approximate location. Deema is likely to be in the vicinity of GrayStone City. It is the closest point to the location. I would recommend that you give us time to place an order" Miranda recommended.

"We don't have time for that! We must do something now" Goby said loudly.

"If something similar to what happened to me happened to Deema...Every second matters! Listen! We will go for Deema. Gil and Miranda stay here to find out the exact location and send the order for any emergency" Molly shared her plan. Everybody nodded.

"Ahem…Well….This mission could be dangerous and I don't want to be easy prey. Possibly I'm more useful here with Gil and Miranda in the office" Urchin proposed. He did not want to cause a disadvantage or worry about his physical condition.

"It's for the best, Urchin. Stay here. We will be back as soon as we can" Nonny said other guppies were ready to leave. Gil decided to take his wife's hand to stop her for a moment.

"Huh?"

"Molly….Be careful" Gil advised her with a worried tone of voice.

"I will" She hugged him. Gil wanted to accompany them immediately, but he had work to do if he wanted to help Deema effectively. In this way, Molly, Goby, Oona, Nonny and Zooli left the BubbleTucky Police Department offices. At that moment, they ran into a couple of teenagers.

"Hey! You are going to look for Deema, right?"

"We´ll go with you, guys!" They were Dylan and Daniel. Deema's younger blonde twin brothers arrived to intercept them.

"Boys, it can be dangerous" Goby warned them.

"And with much more reason we should go! We must take care of and save our older sister!" Dylan said bravely.

"Yeah! If someone messes with our sister, they mess with the Wahler Twins!?" Daniel shouted dramatically.

"I think they can come with us. We could use more help. Plus there's no time to waste" Zooli commented. They didn't argue about it. In this way, the brothers joined the trip. The guppies used two cars to begin the long journey. Molly was driving a car while Oona, Nonny and Zooli were passengers. In the other car Goby was the driver and Dylan and Daniel were the passengers. All of them were aware that the trip was difficult and they might have to stop to fill the gas tank. But they had to go quickly, before something bad happened to Deema. Although they had no idea of the magnitude of the problem they were getting into.

Many hours passed and we will focus on the work in the offices of the Police Department. Gil, Miranda and Urchin were conducting an investigation into Deema's precise whereabouts. However, they discovered something worrying.

"Gil…Miranda….I found something...But I don't think you'll like it" Urchin said nervously.

"All information is vital. Tell us" Gil ordered.

"Okay. I was analyzing the entire perimeter of Deema's approximate location...And I found out that this place is part of the territory of a dangerous gang called "Hookligan" Urchin told them.

"Hmmmm Hookligans…." Gil said thoughtfully. He analyzed that name. That name sounded familiar to him.

"This can be very bad. Gil, that band...Hookligan...is connected to the case we are investigating" Miranda said worriedly.

"What are you talking about?" Urchin wanted an answer. They both remained silent for a few seconds.

"...(sigh) Trevor Westbrock, aka, Big Brock….We have investigated this new young criminal. He became the head of the Hookligan gang a few years ago. We have investigated him for the sale of drugs, weapons and illegal gambling" Gil explained.

"The GrayStone City Police Department shared the case with us and we have made progress. But, the real question is...Is Deema related to the Hookligans or Trevor?" Miranda said seriously.

"Do not say foolishness! We meet Deema, the drama queen! She would NEVER be involved with a criminal gang" Urchin said confidently.

"Urchin has a point...However, I have a feeling something bigger is hidden in all of this. And we'll have to get to the bottom of this if we want to find her" Gil said quietly. He wasn't wrong when he said that.

We return to Deema. She had spent hours training with her shark friends, who were expert drivers. She needed to regain certain skills. That's where she started driving towards the distance of GrayStone City, accompanied by her biker friends. At one point, she stopped and wanted to talk to the leader of the bikers on the phone.

"Thanks for all, friends. But from now on, I'm on my own" Deema said seriously.

"Please, Deema...Don't do this, at least not alone. Let us help" Big W said worriedly.

"This is too dangerous. I don't want to put you in danger. Please go. I'll call when I need you, guys" The blonde guppy ordered. For the sharks, it was strange to see her so serious.

"(sigh) I understand. Deema, take care. I hope you know what you're doing" The motorcycle gang decided to take another path, leaving the girl alone. Deema decided to drive a few more kilometers. She took certain unknown streets until she reached a mysterious bunker. The doors opened on their own, inviting her to enter. She parked the car and some unknown men greeted her. They were very bad looking young criminals. Full of tattoos, criminal clothing and of course, with drugs and armed. Among them, a crab boy in a gray sweater approached Deema.

"Hehehe….Good to see you again, blonde. Sorry baby...but it's protocol" He started checking if Deema had things in her clothes. It was no surprise that she was disgusted by the touching. At that moment, he took out the taser that she was hiding "Hohoho! So you were armed, huh?"

"I had to try it" Deema said reluctantly.

"Anyway, the boss is waiting for you. He is very eager to see you. He has you in good esteem" The crab boy said with a special smile.

"How flattering" She said sarcastically. Without commenting further, they began to walk towards the owner of the bunker. There appeared a young guppy with dark skin and no hair, except for a ponytail of dreadlocked hair. He had too many tattoos on his face, arms and chest. He only wore torn blue pants. He didn't have the decency to wear a shirt. His tail was green with purple lightning bolts.

"Yo! But look who came to visit me! My best friend, Deema! I'm so glad you visited me!" The guy said very happily. But it wasn´t in a good way.

"Trevor…." She said seriously. Trevor, the young criminal, was the person she was looking for. He approached her with a cigar of some illicit substance.

"Oh come on, Deems! I'm happy to see you, but I don't see you happy to see me. Believe me, baby...I missed you! And I missed those moments with you. They were good days" Trevor said with double meaning phrases. He just blew smoke from what he was smoking into her face.

"Cof Cof Cof! Don't misunderstand what happened. I just came here to end everything. I'm not going to continue paying you more! You are destroying my life!" Deema said seriously. The boy just started smoking a little more.

"Oh Deema….When you say it that way, you make it seem like I'm the bad guy in the story" He took a deep breath before continuing to smoke "I am only protecting you from your own sin"

"So...If you are here...it means you accepted the challenge" Deema asked him.

"(sigh) Well, my beloved blonde...Honestly, I like you a lot...However, I didn't expect you to have some...very nosy friends" Trevor snapped his fingers and something terrible happened. Several armed thugs appeared with several subdued guppies. They decided to throw them on the ground in front of Deema and Trevor.

"WHAAAA?!" She was terrified when she saw that Travis captured the guppies. Molly, Goby, Oona, Nonny, Zooli, Dylan and Daniel were subdued by members of the Hookligans.

"DEEMA!?" The guppies shouted surprisedly.

"You never told me you would have company" Trevor smirked evilly.

"I swear they didn't come with me. I didn't tell them to come. Surely, they came to look for me on their own" Deema explained.

"Oh! So this is a question of loyalty? Wow, I admire that a lot" The young criminal said with an evil smile.

"This doesn't look good at all" Nonny commented nervously.

"The last time someone pointed guns at us was at the Battle of BubbleTucky" Goby answered quietly.

"Silence!" One of the thugs ordered.

"Let them go, Trevor. They have nothing to do with this" Deema ordered.

"Whoa Whoa, blonde! Seriously, you want to give me orders in my house? My house, my rules!" The leader of the Hookligans said rudely.

"Deema, what's going on here?" Molly asked her.

"Yeah….What relationship do you have with that boy?" Zooli added.

"I swear to you that if you did something to our sister..." Dylan said angrily.

"...You will feel the wrath of the Twins!" Daniel ended his brother´s sentence.

"Shut up!" Another criminal ordered them.

"One second! Don't you guys know?! Seriously, hasn't Deema told you, who are her closest loved ones?! OH MY...HAHAHA! This is unfortunate, blonde...Have you really fallen low...Not even your...fiancé...the person you should trust the most...Not even he knows your secret?" Trevor played with his cigar with an evil tone of voice.

"Deema...what is he implying? What haven't you told us?" Goby asked seriously. The guppy with golden curls did not have the courage to look her fiancé in the eyes "Tell me! Tell us!" He demanded.

"Oh come on, Deems! It would be better for everyone if you confessed the truth. This is your chance...Tell me, dear...Do you want to say it yourself...or do you want me to do it for you?" Trevor asked provocatively. There was total silence. All eyes were trained on Deema. She felt enormous pressure. Something was going to explode in her.

"Goby….Molly…..Oona….Nonny….Zooli….Dylan….Daniel….I….I….I…."She started to stutter a lot. She still didn't have the strength to confess it.

"Go ahead….We have plenty of time, dear...There is no turning back...If you don't tell them, I will" The leader smiled.

"I….I…..I….."

"Excuse me, did you say something? We all want to hear from you!"

"I….I…..I KI-KI-KI-KILLED SOMEONE…..I KILLED SOMEONE INNOCENT!"

In that bunker, that scream was the only thing that could be heard at that moment. After that confession, many seconds of silence passed. Nobody said anything. Nobody knew what to do or say. This night would be a long one for everyone present.

What a way to end this chapter. Did anyone expect something like this? It seems like this took a darker turn. I guess the answers and explanations will be revealed in the next episode.

Leave your reviews to see what you thought of this chapter. I will immediately go on to respond to the reviews of the previous chapter.

GojiRaptor06: Hi there! I'm very glad you liked the previous chapter. There really was a lot of comedy, romance and serious moments. Finally Goby and Deema are getting married! But everything seems like it's going to get complicated. Extra note: Thank you very much for the drawing you made related to that chapter. Good job.

PrimroseRaspberry: Hello, friend! The previous chapter was just beautiful. See the guppies (friends and couples) have fun together and help each other. Zooli really had a great moment to shine, both defending herself against Chase and showing her true love for Urchin. Goby's proposal to Deema was the icing on the cake. Those mysterious reactions of Nonny will be a strong theme much later and she has the explanation for it. I hope that many of your doubts regarding Deema's pain have been resolved, although it is necessary to wait for the next chapter to solve this whole enigma.

ReaderandWriter9000 say goodbye! See you very soon in the other chapter! Don´t miss it!
