Chapter 16: Our Hardest Time

We cannot deny reality. Things were not going well in the relationship between Goby Imani and Deema Wahler. Even though our favorite blonde managed to free herself from the guilt caused by the infamous Trevor Westbrook, there was something she couldn't completely free herself from: The consequences. Although her punishment under the law had been reduced, she would not be able to drive again for a long time, there was something much worse than that: she lost Goby's trust. Her own fiancé decided that they should both take some time to think about whether they really should get married. Goby felt so disappointed, because he hoped that his fiancée could trust him, her future husband. Their relationship was in danger. Some thought they were going to break off the engagement and even thought they were going to break up.

These situations together caused negative effects on both of them. And we are going to focus on each of those involved. First, Deema. She had been through a lot of difficult things in the last few days. From exposing herself and her friends in mortal danger to learning the true story of her friend's death, a death that had been torturing her since college, and all the pain of being extorted by that criminal. She decided to take advantage of the professional help of one of her best friends. We see two guppy girls in a psychologist's office. Deema was lying in a special chair for patients while our other guppy was taking notes and paying attention to her friend and client. I was together in a therapeutic empty chair session.

"So...You didn't tell anyone about everything you suffered from your extortionist? Not to your family, not to your friends...For fear that they would start to hate you...But, now that you know that you didn't do it, how did everyone react when they found out?" It was Oona. Even though she was giving therapy to one of her best friends, she tried to be professional with her in order to help her. Let us remember that Oona Shaskan was a great psychologist and evidently she wanted to help her friend.

"Well...Many told me that they felt bad because I didn't tell them...But over time, many began to understand me and it seemed that the most important thing for them was that I was fine and that they managed to fight legally to prevent me from going to prison for longer...(sigh) It was a relief. I didn't have many problems at work thanks to the fact that my boss trusted me a lot...But...although everything is coming together little by little...And now that my guilt for Auron's death is gone. ...There is something I can't get back yet: Goby's trust and forgiveness...(sigh) I ruined everything" Deema explained her latest events.

"Could you explain to me what you mean with that?" The Asian girl asked her.

"He felt bad because he thinks I don't trust him. For not having told him everything that happened to me. He's having second thoughts about whether he wants to marry me... (sigh) I guess I earned it. Maybe if I had told him sooner...we could have stopped Trevor sooner" The blonde guppy commented sadly.

"I understand...(sigh) Listen, Deema. Maybe it was a mistake not to have told it before. Because you were involved in that incident. But now we can't change anything about the past. The past has already passed, there is no such thing as time travel. However, we only have to correct things now. I can only recommend you be honest with him. It is very likely that he will listen to you. You know him well, as do I" Oona said professionally.

"You're right...Hey, thanks! These sessions are really very good, Oona. You sound so professional" Deema said with a tiny smile.

"I give my best in my work. That's why I decided to become a psychologist: To help people. Especially my friends" Oona said quietly "That would be all for our session. Don't forget the next appointment"

"Thank you very much, Oona. I promise to pay you after the last appointment" The blonde guppy said quietly.

"Regarding that, friend...I want to give you free appointments..." The young psychologist told her.

"Wh-What?! Don't say that! Just because you are my best friend doesn't mean you should treat me differently than the rest of your clients" Deema wanted to convince her.

"Don't worry. I don't want to charge you. Because I know you need money for the wedding and I don't want to make it any more complicated for you. Please, this will be a favor from friends" Oona said kindly.

"I don't even know if there will be a wedding after what I did (sigh) Anyway, thank you...Not just anyone would do this" The blonde-guppy hugged her.

"You're welcome, Deema!" Oona accepted the hug.

In the meantime, we'll look at Goby's house. The boy was at home watching television. His father was not there because he was visiting Gabriel, Goby's older brother. He would have gone with him, but he was home because his stomach kept hurting. He even requested days off from work to rest and relieve his pain. He took certain pills and even certain remedies, but nothing helped. He was sitting on the couch, bored, watching television until someone knocked on the door.

"Huh? I wonder who it will be" Goby asked confused. He decided to get up to receive the unexpected visitor. When he opened the door, he saw three guppies come to visit.

"Hi, Goby!" They were Gil, Nonny and Urchin.

"Oh, guys! I'm glad to see you. Please come in. Make yourselves comfortable" Goby invited them to enter his house. He offered his friends snacks and drinks, but he didn't eat or drink anything.

"I still remember this beautiful house" Gil commented.

"I could never forget it. You worked very hard for me and my dad. I can't believe you guys did the house for us. It will be something I can never stop being grateful for" Goby remembered everything the guppies and neighbors did for his dad and him.

"Moving on to another topic...How are things going with Deema?" Nonny asked quietly. Goby remained silent. He tried to stay calm.

"We're still giving each other space. I still don't know if I want to marry her. It's just...(sigh) I feel betrayed. She should have been able to trust me with something as big as that. She knew I could have helped her...but no. Can I be with someone who doesn't trust me?" Goby said a little bothered.

"Don't take it personally, man. Deema didn't tell ANYONE. Not to her own parents, not to her siblings, not to the guppies" Gil answered.

"I can't judge her. She must have been terrified. If she told you that she killed someone, possibly she thought you were going to leave her. I mean, I thought Zooli would hate me when I had to confess my betrayal" Urchin explained a bit.

"Also, let's remember Trevor. If she had said that to someone, and he realized it...He could have done something so horrible" Nonny added smartly.

"I understand your points of view, but...Ugh!... I'm her fiancé. They are both supposed to trust each other everything" Goby was frustrated.

"Well, technically you two aren't married yet. I bet she would have told you on her time" Gil commented.

"So you think? I really doubt it. I mean, I understand that she was afraid. But hasn't she learned in all these years that she can count on us...or me? I don't know what's wrong with her…" Goby said that a little disappointed and frustrated. Before he could say anything, his stomach hurt again, but harder "AGH!"

"Are you okay, Goby?" Gil asked worriedly.

"Ugh….I´m okay….I've been having stomach pain for days...I've had nausea, vomiting and I've lost my appetite...That's why I haven't been able to go to work...Ugh" Goby said tiredly.

"How long has it hurt?" Nonny asked seriously. He was suspecting something.

"Hmmm like….weeks….Since we freed Deema" The dark-skinned guppy admitted. The guppies were worried, but Nonny was more noticeable.

"Goby….Why did it take you so long to go to a doctor?! We must go now!" Nonny said bothered.

"I think you're exaggerating...I'm going to be...AGHHH!" He lost his balance and fell to his knees on the ground, pressing his hands on his stomach in response to the intense pain that came.

"GOBY!" Gil, Nonny and Urchin shouted worriedly.

"AGH! It hurts too much!" Goby screamed in pain.

"Gil, you and I, let's help Goby. Let's lay him on the ground. Urchin, call an ambulance now!" Nonny ordered. He managed to stay calm in a tense moment. He and Gil laid Goby on the ground, he tried to squirm. Urchin was quick to take his cell phone and call the emergency services. Something was definitely not right.

While all this was going on, we looked at a beautiful house near the town of BubbleTucky. A new residence in town. Looks like a girl guppy was getting quite a visit. She was excited for the arrival of her friends.

"I'm glad you came! Make yourself comfortable! It is the first time that you have come to visit my house. Gilly and I worked a lot on it" Molly said happily, showing the girls her and Gil´s house. It was a simple two-story house. A huge room, an entrance with a good space for a garden. The backyard was very spacious, where Bubble Doggy rested peacefully in his dog house. That's right, this big dog was now living with the new couple.

"This is pretty cool. It looks like you two put in a lot of effort, huh?" Zooli analyzed.

"We must thank Goby. He had the idea of the design and gave us the contacts to obtain the labor. When it was finished being built, Gilly and I had to work on details of the house" Molly explained. Although everyone was having a good time, Deema was still thinking about her fiancé. Will he forgive her? Would they continue with their marriage plans or not? It was at that moment that she wanted to be honest with her best friends.

"Hey girls…I…I just wanted to say thank you for everything you did for me...For helping me get out of prison, even though I deserved it...(sigh) I'm sorry for not telling you anything. I was afraid that you would stop being my friends if you knew that I had done something so bad... I hope you can forgive me" Deema said quietly. The girls were attentive to their friend's words.

"Don't worry, Deema. We understand that you were scared" Molly was the first one to answer.

"It is true that we were about to die...but what wouldn't we do for our loved ones?" Oona patted her back.

It's understandable. I mean, you thought you really did it...But you know? It's a relief to know the truth, isn't it?" Zooli commented.

"It's true. I think Auron will finally rest in peace...And thank you for understanding and forgiving me (sigh) Now only Goby is left...I don't think he will forgive me" Deema expressed sadly.

"You need to be more optimistic, Deema. We've known Goby for years. We know that he will listen to you and he will forgive you in a short time. You just have to give him time" Molly said with a smile.

"I hope so...I don't want him to break the engagement. I really love him and I would do anything for his forgiveness" The blonde guppy commented.

"Come on, we've come to have a good time. The last thing we need is to think about problems. For now, we can have fun. It's what our friend needs" Zooli said calmly. The hostess of the house served her friends some glasses of drinks.

"Zooli has a point. For now, girl time" Molly raised her glass before drinking.

"Hehe alright, girls!" Deema said with a smile. Little by little, our blonde guppy was returning to being the dramatic and fun girl we took a while for them to decide to talk about other topics.

"Well...there is something we can talk about...Hey, Molly...Now that you are married and living with Gil...How is marital life?" Oona asked curiously.

"We are really very good. We both do our housework well, we are busy with our jobs, and well... It's nice to have the boy you love in the same house, you know?" Molly commented with a lovely tone of voice.

"You make it look like a fairy tale" Zooli commented funnily.

"Hey...can we ask you something interesting?" Deema gave a suspicious smile to her best friend "Have you and Gil gone to the next level?"

"What are you talking about, Deema?" Molly asked confusedly.

"You know….Have you been in bed with Gil?" She started to interrogate her.

"Well, obviously. We sleep together, we watch movies, we tell each other things" She answered innocently.

"Oh no no no….I don't mean that kind of thing...I mean if you and Gil...have already "done it", if you know what I mean" Deema asked mischievously. Finally, Molly got the idea and blushed like a tomato.

"I don't think it's appropriate to ask that kind of thing, Deema" Oona intervened with a blush in her face.

"Well...Hehehe...You know, girls...It's...complicated...I...well..." Molly wanted to tell them something before something interrupted them.

RING! RING!

Molly felt like it was her phone that was ringing. She checked who was calling her on her cell phone.

"Oh! It´s Gilly" She was a little surprised. Trying to ignore the topic the girls wanted to bring up, she answered the call "Hi, Gilly! What happened? Hmmmmm huh...Uh huh...Hmmmm...WHAT?! What happened? He is fine...Uh huh...Hmmmm...Yes, she is with me...In fact the girls are at home...Uh huh...I understand...We will go immediately. See you, Gil...I love you" Throughout that call, Molly changed her calm demeanor to an overwhelmed one. That call was not good at all.

"What happened? Is Gil okay?" Oona asked worriedly.

"Gil is fine...But...he is in the hospital...Because...Goby is sick in the hospital. The boys took him away. Something is not right" Molly said worriedly.

"G-G-Goby?!" Deema panicked. That news didn't mean anything good.

"But what happened to Goby?" Zooli asked confusedly.

"I don't know. Gil didn't give me details. But we have to go to the hospital now" Molly said quickly. All the girls began to prepare to go to the hospital together. Without a doubt, the most worried of all was Deema.

During the entire trip, none of them spoke. What could they talk about under these circumstances? They all wanted to get there as quickly as possible to find out what happened to Goby. Luckily, it wasn't long and they arrived at the hospital quickly. They arrived at the emergency room, precisely in intensive care. That worried the girls. There they met the boys and another couple. They were Gil, Nonny, Urchin, Mr. and Mrs. Grouper.

"Gilly…what happened?" Molly asked quickly.

"I'm not so sure. We were talking when he began to suffer intense stomach pain. We had to call the ambulance" Gil answered.

"But what does Goby have?! What happened?!" Deema panicked.

"The doctors are on it. For some reason, they brought him here. So it must be something serious" Urchin commented.

"We came as fast as we could. Let's hope he is well" Mr. Grouper said quietly. At that same moment, the doctor who was attending to the emergency appeared.

"How is Goby, doctor?" Nonny asked him first.

"(sigh) Wow...it's worse than I imagined…..Your friend has a bad case of appendicitis. This is so wrong. According to the diagnosis, his appendicitis bursts and begins to develop into peritonitis. That is, the infection can invade the abdomen. We must have him undergo immediate surgery... or he could die" The doctor gave them bad news. All of them gasped in horror.

"Please save him doctor!" Deema begged him loudly.

"We will do our best. Let's see what we can do" The doctor left immediately to begin the operation process. That news distressed our favorite characters.

"This is bad. Goby neglected his own health. He thought that pain was no big deal" Nonny commented seriously.

"He is like that. Sometimes he is so stubborn and he always wants to appear tough and invincible... (sigh) And that's something I love about him... Goby, please... I don't want to lose you" Deema hugged herself. She tried to calm her nerves. Molly was the one who touched her back to comfort her.

So they spent hours in that waiting room. The guppies, Mr. Grouper and Duncan had to go. The only person who stayed was Deema. She was waiting for many hours. She didn't even want to eat or sleep that night in the hospital. Time passed and no doctor told him anything. She felt her heart beating strongly. She was afraid of losing her loved one and not being able to apologize. That was a lot of emotional pressure and she wanted to be there for him. She cried from time to time until her eyes were red and swollen. She was sitting sobbing until she felt someone was close to her and touched her shoulder to get her attention.

"You're Deema Wahler, right?"

"Y-Yeah…I am…" She sniffed.

"Take this. You need it" It was a guppy girl that she didn't know. She gave him some tissues so he could clean his nose and her eyes. The girl also gave her some coffee, something Deema accepted.

"Th-Thanks…" She said with a soft tone of voice.

"It's a pleasure. You are Goby's fiancee, right?" The guppy asked her.

"Hmmm yes…I guess…Who are you?" Deema asked.

"Oh! Excuse me…My manners…I´m Wilma…I'm Goby's friend. We met at university and sometimes we work together. He has always spoken very well of you to me. I'm glad to finally see you in person...although I would have preferred it to have been under better circumstances" It was her. Wilma appeared to visit Goby. But now she met his fiancee.

"Wow….Goby never told me about you" Deema said surprisedly.

"He's probably been so busy that he hasn't told you about me. We're just good friends. Hey, you're a lucky girl. Goby is an incredible boy and you are lucky to have him by your side" Wilma complained to her.

"Hmmm I guess you´re right…(sigh) I hope he gets out of this. It's very bad in the operating room" The blonde guppy said quietly.

"Yes...I hope that too...Although...Goby is stronger than everyone thinks. He will get out of this. I know why I told you" Wilma said, remembering the day that boy saved her life in a fire, even though he was terrified. These words encouraged Deema, she must recognize the willpower of her boyfriend. Well, he had been through a lot like surviving the fire at his house and facing James and the Sinister Guppies. A case of appendicitis should not finish him off regardless. Deema wanted to hold on to that hope. A few moments later, the doctor left the operating room. He looked tired, Deema knew that he was the doctor in charge of her fiancé's operation.

"How is Goby? How was the operation?" Deema asked quickly.

"Well...after many hours and setbacks...Goby is out of danger. We took him to the recovery area. It will take him a while to wake up. You can go see it if you want" The doctor answered confidently.

"Would you please take us there?" Wilma asked gently.

"Of course, ladies. Follow me" The doctor said. He decided to guide the girls to the post-surgery recovery room "I recommend that you not make too much noise. And if he's still asleep, please don't wake him up. I warn you that it is possible that he may still have the side effects of the anesthesia. You can stay a few minutes" The doctor explained before slowly leaving. Both girls saw Goby, who was in a deep sleep in his patient gown.

"(sigh) He looks beautiful when he sleeps" Deema said quietly.

"It seems that everything turned out well after all. Well, Deema...It was nice to finally meet you. I have to go. I'm glad to see that Goby is well. Give this to him from me" Wilma handed her a small letter that was simply a letter wishing him a speedy recovery.

"Thanks for coming...See you soon" The blonde guppy said with a smile. The other girl left the room, leaving both of them alone. Finally, she was alone with him. She was looking forward to him waking up. Deema caressed his cheek gently "Goby...I really want you to wake up soon...I want to tell you once again how much I love you...and how sorry I am...Please...I can't imagine another day without you by my side" Deema said sadly. A few minutes later, she noticed how her boy started to move a little. He began to open his eyes little by little.

"Hmmmm…Ughhh…Hmmmm…Ughh….Bah...Bah...Ta...Dah...Ugh..." Goby was trying to speak, but he stuttered a lot.

"Goby! Are you OK?" The blonde guppy asked surprisedly.

"Duh…Bah…Tade….Ohhhh…Yak…." A few minutes passed before he could say coherent words "Ugh...Sorry about that...My mouth and tongue felt numb...I guess it was the anesthesia...And I still feel weird and see funny things" Goby started to recover a bit "Ugh….Hey, am I dead?" He asked.

"Euh…No? Why do you ask?" Deema raised her eyebrow.

"So why am I seeing an angel next to me?" Goby asked her.

"An angel?! Where?!" Deema asked confused and tried to look everywhere to see what he was referring to.

"Well...she's a weird girl with blonde hair with huge curls" He added funnily. After a few seconds, she took the hint.

"Hey! That's me!" She put her hands around her waist.

"Deema? Oh right...It's you...Ugh...Seriously this anesthesia is weird. I swear I see and feel strange things" Goby said, trying to explain himself.

"I know perfectly" Deema remembered when she was under the side effects of an anesthesia.

They both waited a while so Goby could recover from the anesthesia. Afterwards, they were both able to speak normally.

"I can swear I saw a Gorillagator around here...Seriously, what's in those anesthetics?" He asked funnily.

"Hehehe no idea…." Deema giggled with him. They both spent a while laughing together until they were silent and looked into each other's eyes. It was a bit of an awkward situation.

"Well...(sigh) I guess we have to talk, right? Listen...Goby...I'm so sorry...I know I should have trusted you. And I should have told you the whole incident with Trevor...But I got scared. I thought you were going to hate me, because I seriously thought I became a murderer...Goby, I want you to know that I love you...And I always will...And you are definitely one of the most trustworthy people for me . I want you to know that from now on I promise to tell you everything. I want you to trust me, and I want to trust you...Because in the end...I want to spend the rest of my days by your side. I don't want anyone else other than you...(sigh) But I understand if you don't want to forgive me" Deema explained about her feelings and thoughts. Goby was silent, paying attention to his fiancée's every word.

"Deema, I understand. You were scared that Trevor would do something to you or do something to your loved ones. What you did was wrong, but I can understand it. Besides, you're not the only one who's reckless. Just look at me, I decided to ignore a slight stomach pain...only to realize it was appendicitis that almost took my life" Goby admitted.

"Oh yeah? Well that was irresponsible of you" Deema crossed her arms.

"I know. I know. The point is...we both make a lot of mistakes...But despite that, we managed to figure it out. I know that we still need to develop mutual trust more...And you know? That's why I still want to marry you... We always find a way to face things together, even if everything gets out of control" Goby smiled at her.

"W-Wait? Are you…Are you seriously? Do you really still want to marry me?!" Deema said shocked.

"Undoubtedly. Deema, I forgive you...And I don't regret the wedding commitment...But I would like us to start being more honest with each other" Goby finally said his last decision.

"Oww Goby! I´LL! I´LL!" She hugged him tightly.

"That means that the wedding plans continue...Although...after paying your bail and now with the hospital payment...(sigh) It seems that we will be married in a long time" Goby said, a bit sad.

"Hey….Don't forget what you just said. We are a team. We will get out of this situation together. I promise you that we will get the money for the ceremony. With my future promotion, we will be able to work hard on that. But, we are getting married is a fact!" She said funnily and firmly.

"There's no doubt. I like that you are so determined, even if sometimes you are crazy" Goby joked a bit.

"And I like that you are so focused and calm, even if you are stubborn" She winked at him. She took advantage of the fact that no one was watching them to lie on top of him.

"H-Hey, Dee-Deema….someone could see u-" Goby was interrupted by a passionate kiss on his lips. He decided to humor his partner, despite the risk of being discovered. They both just engaged in a make out session. It seems like they wanted that for a long time, because they hadn't kissed since the previous incident. What they didn't know was that there were guppies that had discovered them in the act. However, they didn't say anything so as not to interrupt them.

"Awwww, don't you think it's cute? They finally settled their differences. And their wedding plans continue!" Oona said with a happy tone.

"Yuck! I think they went a little overboard... But if that worked for them... I won't judge" Zooli commented.

"It's nice to see them together again" Molly admitted.

"I hope they can fulfill their dream soon. With Deema's bail paid plus upcoming hospital bills, they will be inconvenienced. At least, financially speaking" Nonny analyzed their situation.

"Unless...Unless we do something about it" Gil smiled mischievously and confidently.

"Honey, every time you put on that smile it's because you have a crazy plan. What are you planning now?" Molly looked at him funnily.

"I think our friends in love need a helping hand from us. Guys, Operation Emergency Wedding has started" The blue-haired guppy smirked.

"Another name for an Operation? Like the old days" His wife giggled a bit.

"Sounds interesting. I will join" Urchin commented.

"We too!" Oona, Nonny and Zooli added.

"Very good. This is what we will do" Gil gathered his friends to plan something big together. The guppies were attentive to the hyperactive guppy's cues. It sounded like a great plan, but it would be a lot of work and somewhat expensive. But they were willing to help his best friends. We are sure of one thing: there WILL be a wedding!

It seems that things are improving little by little. The ceremony has suffered setbacks, but everything is getting back on track. Let's just hope things start to look up for the couple. What does Gil have planned? Well, we'll see soon.

As you already know, leave your reviews to know your opinions. Right now, we are going to respond to the latest reviews from the previous chapter.

GojiRaptor06: Hi, friend. Without a doubt, the previous chapter was full of strong emotions. Action, drama, suspense. Many tense moments. It was great to see that Deema had to remember what she herself said to Molly to reconsider her actions. The wedding has suffered delays, but it seems that things are going to improve soon.

PrimroseRaspberry: Hello! Definitely in the last chapter there were a lot of emotions. It's good to finally know the full story of the incident and get the truth straight. And it is a relief that they were able to get Deema out of prison...Despite some relationship problems, they are being solved little by little. It seems that Trevor will now work for Harris thanks to extortion (Ha! That's what I call karma!), but still...I don't like the look of Harris' plan. It seems that the mystery of Goby's condition has been solved. It was a tough time, but I'm glad he got out of it.

SuperSonichero18: Hello there! Oh yeah, Nonny broke the 4th wall in that chapter. I like that kind of jokes hahaha.

mermaidf: Hello, my friend. It really wasn't a very happy ending, but it seems that things are beginning to change for the better. Let's hope the guppies' plan turns out to be a success.

This is all for now. I say goodbye and we will see you in another chapter of this story or another.

Post-Chapter

We returned to the recovery room, where Goby and Deema were making up for lost time. She finally asked him about her friend Wilma. And he didn't hesitate much to tell her what he experienced with her at university and at her job and how they became good friends with her.

"It seems like Wilma is a nice girl. But...why haven't you told me about her before? She came here" Deema asked him curiously.

"(sigh) Deema...I think it's together that I tell you something that I haven't told anyone. You see, Wilma is my friend...but there is something about her that you have to know...(sigh) Wilma is...she is...She is Robynn's little sister" Goby finally decided to tell the secret to his fiancée.

"WH-WH-WHAT?! SHE?! IS SHE ROBYNN'S SISTER? THE ROBYNN WHO TRIED TO KILL ZOOLI AND URCHIN" Deema was shocked.

"Calm down, Deema. Calm down! It's not what it seems. You see, Wilma is nothing like her older sister. She is very different and she is really a good person. But she is here and she wants to find her older sister. She has no idea what kind of person Robynn is" Goby explained quietly.

"Does she have no idea what Robynn did?" The blonde-guppy asked.

"It seems. It seems that the two of them have a complicated history. The point is that...you and I know what happened to her...And I don't have the courage to tell her the truth" The dark blue-haired boy shared his thoughts.

"My gosh….This can be worse. But you know that she will realize it, sooner or later...And when that happens..." She said seriously.

"Deema, please...If I'm telling you this it's because I'm trusting you with my secret...Don't say any of this to anyone else. Not your parents, siblings, not even the guppies, especially Zooli" Goby begged her. Deema analyzed it a bit. It was true that this secret was important. But she knew what trouble could arise, especially if Zooli found out. She could take a defensive and even aggressive attitude towards Wilma, the sister of her nemesis.

"(sigh) I´ll keep the secret"
