With a relieved grin on his face, Cedric yawned loudly as he rested his back on the sofa at the workshop he works in.
It was only common sense for a Royal Sorcerer like him to actually do his duties and become productive as a person with responsibility entrusted to him by the king… but Cedric is a whole different breed
"Maybe I should pretend sick today… that could work" he smirked, while rubbing his hands together with a sinister look on his face "Then maybe I can take the whole day off and loaf around"
Laying down, resting all day and doing nothing are three of his favorite things in the whole world. He'd come up with anything just to avoid work and going out of the workshop in general.
It was a habit and mindset he started since his alma mater "Hexley Hall" two years ago – and he had been the same even after appointed as the Royal Sorcerer of the castle.
And that pretty sums up the every day life of the laziest Royal Sorcerer in the realm
"Today is gonna be a great day…" he hummed to himself with his eyes closed and hands as pillows for his head to lean on in a very carefree way without a worry in the world. Meanwhile, the work that he should be working on stays untouched on his working table
*tap tap tap*
Suddenly, he hears something from the outside. He knew it well. Someone is going up to the stairs and on the way to the workshop. He cursed knowing this, as he forced himself to stand up from his lovely sofa and make his way to the working table
The door had no locks yet, and he couldn't be caught dead by the king slacking off. That's for damn sure.
With his back turned to it, the door finally creaks open and he grunted in annoyance. But he made sure to hide it from the person.
And so, he forced a smile to greet the unwanted visitor
"Good Morning, sire!" his chair turned, but his expressions frowned upon seeing a petite figure with naive wide sky blue eyes staring up at him and that smile of hers
"Hi there, Mister Ceedric!"
Without hesitation, Cedric hopped back on the sofa with a relieved smile on his face "It's just you" he mumbled in an apathetic way
Sofia greeted him with a smile "Good to see you looking happy today. I need your help.."
Suddenly, a loud series of snores was heard from the man with his eyes closed. Sofia raises one of her auburn eyebrow as she approached him
In that moment, a bright idea came to Sofia as her pink curves to a smirk
.
.
.
"Hey Dad, what are you doing here!?"
Without hesitation, the Sorcerer was up on his feet and literally jumped towards the working table. He then turned around and forced a smile… just to see no one but the girl laughing at him
He was in no way amused with this
"You little.."
"ahaha-haha! That was a good one!" the little princess exclaimed. Cedric's eyes narrows with this as he stared at her menacingly.
There's no such thing as solace with her around.
Ever since she came to the castle, he hasn't had a single day of laziness and slacking off. She's always coming over to make him do things.. or even at times just soliciting in the workshop.
"Now will you please hear me out?" she finally spoke in a sing-song tone
Cedric looked away and sighed "Fine.." he then turned to the table and reached out for some empty vials laying on top. With her around, he might as well do some of the work tasked
It's not like he'll be getting a chance to laze off anyways
Sofia then ran in front of him "You see… I need to return a book to the village library later.." she looks down with both of her index fingers twirling with each other
"And it might get dark when I get home… so I am gonna need an escort"
"Ask Baileywick" he quickly retorted
"But I want Mister Ceedric!" she whined in defiance
Cedric turned around with a smug look on his face
"uh oh… too bad we don't get to have all the things that we want in life, eh?" he insinuated in a scornful mocking manner "Ain't that a bummer, princess?"
The defeated look on her face gave Cedric a feeling of triumph. Usually she would be calm and poised. Seeing Sofia in such a light somehow makes him superior to her
"Anyways, I have a ton of work to do so buzz off.." he turned back around and started fidgeting some potions. Of course he didn't mean it, when she leaves, he's gonna lay back on that nice comfy sofa
Sofia frowned as she look at him "I guess I'll be all alone walking the night then.."
"Hah, Good luck" Cedric uttered. He couldn't care less
A few moments later, the girl finally left the workshop and he couldn't sense her presence anymore. Cedric rejoiced as he immediately slammed the door close and hopped back on his nice sofa
Sofia on the other hand was making her way down the staircare where Clover was waiting
"Hey kid, did he agree to go with you?"
Sofia shook her head sideaways "No.."
Suddenly, a smile forms on her face "But I have a better idea"
The two then made their way to the entrance of the castle where the afternoon was starting to get dark
"Are you really going alone, kid? It's getting really dark out there" Clover asked
"Not alone~" Sofia decided to stop midway and sit on a nearby staircase
"What do you mean?" the bunny asked
"You'll see, Clover" she hummed in enthusiasm
A few moments passed and suddenly, a loud tapping was heard from the inside of the castle
"Hold up!" A certain disheveled Royal Sorcerer was seen running with a hectic look on his face "Dang it… why did I make her go alone.. I have to get my bicycle"
Clover's eyes widened with this as she turned to Sofia with a proud look on her face
The man was frantic from his face "If something happens to her, I'll–"
His words were cut upon finally seeing the girl herself just waiting for him at the staircase
"Hi there~"
His eye twitched of disbelief and calmed himself down "I thought y-you went alone"
"I decided to wait a little longer" Sofia went closer and gave him a teasing look "I knew you would come for me~"
"Come for you!?" Cedric blushed and looked away "the King just entrusted me to accompany you and I couldn't say no"
"Liar. Dad is out and he's not here right now" she smirked at him "You came after me because you were concerned, weren't you?"
Hearing this made him embarrassed as he looks away. Just aimlessly staring at him, Sofia took her time and simply cherished this reaction coming from her favorite Sorcerer
"Anyways… let's get this over with.." he stuttered, as Cedric walked up ahead. Sofia laughed as she turned to Clover with a wink. The bunny responded with a thumbs up with his paw
"Wait for me!" And so, the little princess ran up to the Royal Sorcerer up ahead in the late afternoon. Linking his arm to her chest, she felt joy knowing she gets to spend a nice afternoon with her own "Mister Ceedric"
"Don't cling so close to me!"
"What if I get lost?"
"I don't care.."
"I know you care about me the most, Mister Ceedric~"
.
.
.
"Shut up.."
