Ruby carefully carried the boat that had a unconscious Moana on and a freaked out Heihei on it, while Chelsea carried and tried to calm down a freaked out Pua. They reached the beach and Ruby placed the boat down on the shore, before she shrank down to her more humanoid form. Chelsea's mermaid tail changed into legs as she reached the beach giving Pua a couple of comforting pets, before placing him on the ground. Ruby went up to the boat to get a better look at the human. She was curious about the human, since this was her first time actually seeing one. The human appeared to be a teenager around both Ruby and Chelsea's age. Ruby saw that the human had some bumps and bruises, but appeared she wasn't too seriously hurt by the ordeal with the storm.
"How's our guest look?" Asked Chelsea coming up beside Ruby.
"A little battered and bruised, but not too badly hurt." Said Ruby.
"Good. A little mermaid healing magic should fix her up real quick." Said Chelsea.
Ruby then took notice of a necklace the human was wearing and saw that it was slightly ajared and that a faint green light was shining from it. She got curious as she reached down, picked the necklace up, and opened it to reveal a glowing green stone. Ruby stared at the stone and Chelsea went over to stare at it. It was a odd looking stone and at first the girls didn't know what it was, but then they remember seeing similar carvings of pictures their families and teachers had shown them and they realized what the stone was.
"The heart of Te Fiti!" Said Ruby and Chelsea together in shock.
Ruby held the heart and stared at it in awe and shock. It was so hard to believe the heart was in their presence. For a brief moment both Ruby and Chelsea thought about simply just taking the heart for themselves and heading to their respective kingdom, but due to their friendship, their desire for peace between their people, and their curiosity for the mysterious human the thought was quickly gone.
"Hard to believe that tiny thing is the heart." Said Chelsea.
"I know right! And it ended up on our beach!" Said Ruby.
"So what do you think the story with this human is?" Said Chelsea indicating Moana before heading over to the human to begin healing her.
"No idea." Said Ruby.
Chelsea studied the human as her hands glowed blue and wavy with mermaid magic as she began to heal the girl's injuries.
"Wait...a second. This could be Maui!" Said Chelsea.
"What? But Maui is a big guy." Said Ruby.
"Yeah, but he's also a trickster and shapeshifter. Maui could just be using his magic to make himself appear as a girl." Said Chelsea.
"You're...right. There's nothing in the stories saying Maui couldn't change his appearance into another human." Said Ruby.
"So what do we do? Either this is simply a girl that somehow found the heart or it's Maui in disguise." Said Chelsea.
"I think we need to heal this human first and when they wake up, we question them." Said Ruby.
"Good idea, I'll hold the heart for now and when the human wakes up, I'll question them as far as they're concerned I'm just another human." Said Chelsea.
"Good idea and I'll be close by and use my camouflage so the human can't see me. If they turn out to be Maui, I'll become visible and giant to catch him." Said Ruby.
"Brilliant." Said Chelsea as she finished up healing Moana.
Ruby and Chelsea took the human inland and laid her on a soft patch of grass to rest, while Pua and HeiHei watched them. It was roughly a hour before Moana began to stir and waken. Ruby quickly used her camouflage to become invisible and Chelsea put on a smile.
"What...? Where...am I? Who...are you?" Groaned Moana as she looked around in confusion.
"Hello there. You had quite some bumps and bruises when you washed up on my island, but don't worry I healed you." Said Chelsea.
"What...happened to the kraken and the mermaid?" Asked Moana as she sat up.
"Mermaid? Kraken? You must be delirious from the storm. Why don't you tell me your name." Said Chelsea.
"I'm Moana. Have you seen the animals I was with?" Said Moana.
"You mean the pig and the rooster. They're fine." Said Chelsea before Pua suddenly ran up to Moana and began cuddling with her.
"Oh Pua I'm glad you're ok." Said Moana petting the pig.
Heihei clucked as he walked onto the scene.
"Glad to see you're ok as well Heihei." Said Moana with a smile.
"Glad for little reunion. My name is Chelsea." Said Chelsea.
"Nice to meet you." Said Moana.
"So Moana I have a question for you." Said Chelsea.
"What's that?" Asked Moana.
"Why do you have this?" Asked Chelsea holding the heart up.
Moana let out a gasp as she looked down at her necklace and saw that she no longer had the heart in it. She looked at Chelsea who was studying her careful as if Moana might be so kind of threat. Moana took a deep breath as she got to her feet and then she began to speak.
"I am Moana of Motunui. The ocean gave me the heart of Te Fiti and chose me to return it, bring peace between the mermaids and krakens, and bring balance to the world. I'm currently heading to where Maui is to get him to assist me and lead me to where the heart must be returned."
Chelsea was a bit surprised by this answer. Moana claimed that the heart had been given to by the ocean itself and she was on a quest to find Maui and to return the heart to it's rightful place, to bring peace between the mermaids and krakens, and balance to the world. It was a mighty claim yet Chelsea could that Moana was being truthful and sincere about it.
"That's...a very big claim, though you have the heart, so I feel there is truth to what you are saying." Said Chelsea as she handed the heart to Moana.
"Yeah...I know honestly I don't fully believe it and I thought this could have been a dream, yet here I am and I know it's not a dream." Said Moana.
"Sounds like you have a long journey and a difficult task ahead. Seems a lot for a single person to do." Said Chelsea.
"It really is. I tried to get people from my village to come with me, but they're all scared to travel across across the sea, plus a bunch of crazy things were going on, and I really needed to take the boat I came in on, otherwise it might have been destroyed." Said Moana looking a little tired and frustrated.
"Sounds like you've already gone through a rough patch on your adventure." Said Chelsea.
"I have and honestly don't know how I'm supposed to get Maui to help me with my quest. He's a Demigod warrior with shapeshifting powers! What if he refuses to help or just simply take the heart away from me? The quest would be over, the mermaids and krakens would still be at war, and the world will be unbalanced and fall into darkness!" Said Moana.
"Sounds like you can use some help. I'd be happy to come with you on your quest and help." Said Chelsea.
"Really?" Asked Moana.
"Really." Said Chelsea.
"You wouldn't happen to have a village full of able bodied people who would be willing to help?" Asked Moana.
"No, but I think I have something else just a good. Ruby you can show yourself, I think we can trust this girl." Said Chelsea.
Ruby became visible and Moana let out a startled yelp at the sudden appearance of Ruby and her appearance.
"Sorry about that! Didn't mean to startle you." Said Ruby.
Moana calmed down as she studied the other girl and realized what she was.
"You're a kraken." Said Moana in awe.
"I am. The names Ruby." Said Ruby.
"And she's not the only one full of surprises." Said Chelsea as she sat on a rock and turned her legs into a mermaid tail.
"And...you're a mermaid." Said Moana in awe.
"I am." Said Chelsea.
"And we're not exactly your average kraken and mermaid." Said Ruby as she stepped back to get some space before she began to change into her giant kraken form and tower over both Moana and Chelsea.
"Whoa..." Said Moana in awe as her eyes went wide amazement.
There was a flash of light that made Moana look away from Ruby to see Chelsea holding a gold trident that seemed to have appeared from nowhere. The trident glowed a little as Chelsea twirled the weapon in her hand with ease, before stopping and casually planted the butt of the trident in the ground.
"I'm the princess of the mermaids and Ruby is the princess of the krakens." Said Chelsea.
"Wait so does that mean there's no longer a war between mermaids and krakens?" Asked Moana hopefully.
Chelsea and Ruby exchanged sad looks.
"Unfortunately there's still a war between our people." Said Ruby as she shrank back down to her humanoid form.
"We meet each other not too long ago and became friends and have been trying to figure out a way to bring peace between our people." Said Chelsea as her mermaid tail turned back into legs.
Ruby and Chelsea filled Moana in about the war and the history of their families. Moana then told the two princesses about what was happening with her island and how she got the heart.
"Looks like our goals and destinies are tied together." Said Chelsea.
"Will help you on your quest to bring balance to the world and peace between our people." Said Ruby.
"You two would help me?" Asked Moana.
"Yeah from the sound of things, you can use the help." Said Ruby.
"It was the theft of the heart that started this mess, so restoring it will fix everything." Said Chelsea.
"Thank you both." Said Moana filling happy and more confident with her quest.
Ruby and Moana told Moana they needed to briefly head to their respective homes to write a note to their families telling they were both simply out adventuring and that they would return soon. This was to prevent search parties of mermaids and krakens from looking for them. Ruby and Chelsea raced off to their homes said some hellos and quickly left a note before returning to the island.
Before leaving Moana decided that the little team should leave a mark on the island to commemorate the beginning of their journey together. They found a large rock and the three girls traced their hands on it. Moana traced her hand in black, Chelsea traced her hand in green and gave her hand a little mermaid tail, and Ruby traced her hand in blue adding a few round circles on the inside to represent suction cups.
The trio along with Pua and Heihei water for the sun to go down so they could see the location of the hook constellation and then they all loaded onto the boat to begin their journey together to get Maui, return the heart, bring peace between the mermaids and krakens, and bring balance to the world.
To be continued.
