Chapter 16 Pirate Attack

Moana, Ruby, Chelsea, Maui, Pua and Heihei sailed away across the sea to Lalotai to get Maui's hook so they could take on Te Kā and return the heart of Te Fiti to restore balance to the world and end the war between the krakens and the mermaids. They had a narrow escape from Tortuga, but it seemed their luck was changing and it was smooth sailing to Lalotai.
Ruby and Chelsea were worried about the Instrument of Destruction being found by the Tentacular's minions and the mermaids using against the krakens, but they didn't know where the music weapon could be or how close it was to being found. For all they knew the monsters could be following a lead that lead to nothing. It was worrisome, but Ruby and Chelsea thought it would be best to focus on restoring the heart and deal with the Instrument of Destruction later, after all if the heart was restored and Te Fiti returned then she would end the war between the krakens and mermaids and bring peace. The Instrument of Destruction would still be out there, but Ruby and Chelsea wouldn't have to worry about the mermaids finding and using it since the war would be over.
Moana decided to ask Maui about Lalotai.
"So what exactly is Lalotai like?" Asked Moana.
"It's a crazy place filled with all kinds of monster that wouldn't hesitate to gobble you up. There's also a freaky deal of magic there. Some places are underwater, large amounts of water float in midair, there are dry area, and a few geysers and waterspouts scattered around." Said Maui.
"What's this Tamatoa guy like?" Asked Moana curious about the monster that had Maui's hook.
"Tamatoa is a giant crab monster about 50 feet tall. Real nasty guy with a huge ego. We've crossed paths a few times and fought. I would win of course and during our last fight I ripped off one of Tamatoa's leg, so he really doesn't like me." Said Maui.
"Ruby can go giant and take him easily." Said Chelsea getting in on the conversation.
"Yeah in a open area, but Tamatoa is most likely residing in place big enough for him to easily get around, but it probably won't accommodate a giant kraken or anything larger then him." Said Maui.
"Figures. Can't rely on me going giant to solve all our problems." Said Ruby.
"Yeah, not to mention you going giant would attract all kinds of attention in Lalotai." Said Chelsea.
"Good point." Said Ruby.
"Looks like we got to be smart and sneaky to get past Tamatoa and get the hook." Said Moana.
"Once I get my hook, you don't have to worry about Tamatoa. I'll deal with him." Said Maui sounding confident.
"Then will be one step closer to returning the heart." Said Moana popping open her necklace to take the heart out and look at it.
It was then Maui looked backwards and saw Gutt's big ship with it's sails and ores closing the distance and ganging on them.
"We got trouble!" Said Maui as he saw Gutt on the front of the ship waving his sword.
"Ocean please help us!" Said Moana bending down to speak to the ocean.
"Yeah doesn't really work like that. You help yourself." Said Maui.
"So what do we do? Can we outrun that big boat?" Asked Moana.
"Maybe if I do siren shriek into the sails and give us a speed boost and we can outrun them." Said Chelsea.
"Or maybe I can go giant and scare them off." Suggested Ruby.
Before any plans or decisions could be made there was a loud whistling sound followed by a thunk as a harpoon with a long rope attached to the end struck the mass of the boat and became imbed in it. Two more harpoons struck the boat's deck and Maui and the others turned to Gutt's ship to see it was closer and that Squint and dozens of Kakamoras were racing to the lines and began sliding down towards Moana's boat! More harpoons struck the little boat and began dragging it towards Gutt's ship.
"Yank all the harpoons out or cut the ropes, so we don't get boarded and captured!" Ordered Maui as he began to pull harpoons out.
Moana, Ruby, and Chelsea joined in on removing the harpoons. Chelsea pulled out her trident and used it to cut through the ropes and Ruby fired careful beams of energy from her eyes to cut the ropes. Moana pulled a few harpoons out, but accidentally dropped the heart on the deck. Before Moana could grab it Heihei snatched the heart up in his beak and had it lodged in his mouth.
"Heihei spit that out right now!" Ordered Moana as Squint and some Kakamoras landed on the boat.
Maui and Ruby quickly began kicking the Kakamoras off the boat, while Chelsea batted some of the rope lines with her trident. Even Pua joined in and slammed into the Kakamoras with his head knocking them off the boat. Moana quickly grabbed her ore to bat some of the little invaders off the boat as Gutt's ship split up into three ships.
"That boat just became more boats!" Yelled Moana in shock and awe.
The two smaller boats sped away from the bigger boat getting to the sides of Moana's boat and began to close in. One boat was commanded by Raz and the other by Gupta. Soon Moana and her friends would be completely surrounded and trapped. Squint laughed as he drew a dagger made out of bone and waved the invading Kakamoras onwards. The pirate then took notice of Heihei who wondered the deck with the heart in his beak.
"What in the deep blue sea?" Asked Squint as he turned his attention to the chicken.
Moana saw this and tried to swat the rabbit monster, but he managed to dodge out of the way and grab Heihei getting a good look at what the chicken had in his beak. Squint's eyes went wide at the sight of the heart. He had never seen it in person, until today, but he had seen pictures of it from stories and knew what it was. The haul of the century!
"Oh the captain is going to love this!" Said Squint in excitement.
"Let him go! That doesn't belong to you!" Yelled Moana as she swatted at Squint who dodged out of the way again holding Heihei.
"Sorry girlie, but pirates take whatever they want!" Said Squint as he dashed over to one of the rope lines and began to quickly crawl back to Gutt's ship.
"Whys that rabbit have the chicken?" Asked Maui as he and the others knocked the last of the Kakamoras off the boat.
"I dropped the heart and Heihei grabbed it and then the pirate grabbed him! We need to get them back!" Said Moana.
Squint got onto Gutt's boat and began racing to his captain with his precious prize as the last harpoons were pulled out and the last ropes were cut from Moana's boat. Maui quickly took control of the boat as he shouted instructions and steered the craft using the sails and shifting his body weight to one side and ordering the others to do the same as well. The tiny boat veered around and headed right towards Gutt's boat.
"You three get on that boat and get the chicken back. I'll keep our body steady and out of harm, but you better hurry, cause those others boats are closing in and will be overrun." Said Maui.
Moana, Ruby, and Chelsea quickly jumped onto Gutt's boat ready to fight their way through the crew and rescue Heihei. Several Kakamoras appeared armed with blowpipes that they lifted up to the little holes in their coconut shells and prepared to fire.
"Get behind me!" Ordered Ruby.
Moana and Chelsea got behind Ruby as the Kakamoras fired their blowpipes at them. Moana expected to hear the sounds of needles striking flesh and for Ruby to fall over with darts in her, but instead there was the sounds of sharp objects striking something hard like a rock or a shell and Ruby remained standing with no darts in her at all. All the darts were scattered around the deck.
"Body armor." Said Ruby proudly.
Moana now took notice that Ruby's skin had taken on a more solid and rock-like quality. The Kakamoras seemed a bit stunned by this development and before they could recover and think about what to do, Chelsea quickly sprung into action and fired a few blasts from her trident striking the tiny pirates and sending them all flying across the boat. Moana took her paddle and began to strike the Kakamoras that didn't get blasted by Chelsea. The girls cleared their way through the first wave of pirates and now had a solid battle plan. Ruby acted as the shield, Chelsea acted as the long range fighter, and Moana acted as the close ranged fighter as they fought their way through the crew.
Up above where the three girls were fighting Squint reached Gutt and presented Heihei to him.
"What's this?" Asked Gutt taking the chicken.
"The most valuable treasure in all the world captain. Look what the bird has in it's beak." Said Squint.
Gutt looked at the beak and saw the heart. His eyes went wide in shock and a grin spread across his face.
"The heart of Te Fiti! It's mine! With this Tentacular and the rest of us can wipeout the krakens and mermaids and shape the world however we want!" Cheered Gutt in excitement.
"Aye captain!" Said Squint as Flynn, Dobson, and Silas nodded in agreement.
Gutt was fixing to remove the heart from Heihei's beak when their was a loud commotion from another part of the deck and the pirates turned to see Moana, Ruby, and Chelsea standing among a large group of battered and defeated Kakamoras.
"Release Heihei and the heart." Said Moana pointing her ore at Gutt.
"I don't think so. This is my ship and I'm in charge. Your little bird and the heart belong to me! Crew deal with these intruders!" Said Gutt.
Squint and the rest of the crew marched towards Moana and her friends.
"Will deal with these creeps. You focus on getting Heihei and the heart away from the leader." Said Chelsea.
"On it." Said Moana as she ran on ahead.
Dobson and Squint tried to chase after Moana, but a blast from Chelsea's trident and a blast of energy from Ruby's eyes knocked the boar and rabbit monster away. Flynn tried to crush Moana with his big fat body, but she dodged out of the way of his lunge and he crashed to the deck. Silas flew at Moana, but she knocked the bird away with her ore sending him crashing into Gutt making him reel back and drop Heihei. Moana ran in and scoped the chicken up and quickly backed away from Gutt who recovered and pulled his swordfish bone sword out and advanced towards her.
"Best be handing over the heart, lass. Do it and I will spare you and your friends." Said Gutt.
Moana glanced back and saw that Squint and the other pirates had recovered and were surrounding Ruby and Chelsea along with a few dozen Kakamoras who joined them. Gutt smirked thinking he had the upper hand as Silas recovered and landed on his shoulder ready to fight alongside his captain.
"Why do you want the heart?" Asked Moana.
"To give Tentacular the power to finally wipeout the mermaids and krakens, then will use the heart to reshape the world to whatever we want." Said Gutt.
"What about the humans? What happens to them?" Asked Moana.
"They'll either become fish food or be turned into slaves." Said Gutt with a cruel smirk.
"Yeah that's not going to happen because, you're not getting the heart! Chelsea give them a shriek!" Said Moana quickly covering her and Heihei ears as best she could.
Ruby quickly covered her ears as Chelsea inhaled and unleashed a siren shriek into Squint and some of the pirates. Squint, Flynn, and Dobson were struck by the sound attack and knocked to the deck along with some Kakamoras. Those they weren't struck directly by the attack reeled back from the sound grasping their heads between their hands in pain. Chelsea stopped her attack and she, Ruby, Moana, and Heihei took off running back down to where Maui was with the boat knocking down any Kakamoras that got in their way.
"Stop them!" Yelled Gutt.
"What he say?" Yelled a dazed Squint.
The three girls and one chicken jumped down into the small boat with Maui who quickly steered the boat away from Gutt's ship. The two small ships commanded by Raz and Gupta tried to close in on Moana's boat and trap it between them, but thanks to Maui's sailing skills they managed to escape and the two boats crashed into each other throwing the pirates around. Chelsea did another siren shriek into the sails helping the boat pickup speed as Moana took the heart out of Heihei's beak and put it back in her necklace for safekeeping.
Gutt watched the tiny boat get away before turning to Silas.
"Go back to Tortuga and tell Tentacular about the heart and what we learned. We will get our boats untangled and continue the hunt." Said Gutt.
"Um captain. There's something in the water heading our way!" Said Flynn looking nervous.
The pirates turned their attention to the water as some big rose up. It was Ruby in her giant kraken form! Ruby looked down at the pirates who stared up at her in shock and confusion. The giant kraken then thrusted her big hands forward creating a large wave that struck the ships pushing them along the sea a good ways before stopping. Now Gutt and his crew were even further away from Moana's fleeing boat! Ruby smiled stratified with what she had done and went back underwater and after Moana's boat. Gutt recovered from his surprise and quickly gave Silas more instructions.
"Tell Tentacular about the ones accompanying Maui and protecting the heart. I think he's going to be very interested."
"Aye captain." Said Silas before flying off.
The battle was over for now, but more trouble would be on it's way.
