Hello all! This is chapter two of When You Smile. This one should be less of a trauma dump and more light hearted. Enjoy!
It was a sunny yet chilly November morning on the island of Sodor. Savannah idled at Knapford Station awaiting further instruction. Just then Henry pulled up next to her.
"Hello Savannah." Henry greeted.
"Hey Henry. How are you today?" Savannah replied.
"Not bad my friend. Not bad. What's on your mind?" The green engine asked out of pure curiosity.
The orange GE ES44DC smiled and blushed. "Someone special." She responded.
Henry smiled. He knew exactly who she was thinking about.
Meanwhile, at Brendam docks, Emily, Rebecca, and Salty sat in idle chatting about their lovers. Rebecca had not yet revealed her feelings toward Savannah yet as she was not ready, but she also feared that Savannah wouldn't feel the same.
"Arrr well if ya ever need someone to officiate you know where to find me." Salty winked.
Emily chuckled and her cheeks flushed a light shade of pink. She was flattered. "Not quite yet Salty. As much as I would absolutely love to be a beautiful bride for Henry, I think we need just a little more time." Emily chuckled.
Salty raised an eyebrow "Soon?"
"Soon." Emily replied.
"And what about you Rebecca? Tell me tales of you and your other half." Salty smiled. Despite being foraged by the sea he was most definitely a romantic.
Emily looked to her for support. Rebecca smiled.
"Well, there is someone..." The yellow Battle of Britain class steam locomotive smiled.
Salty curiously raised an eyebrow, eager to hear who Rebecca was in love with.
"Savannah, the big orange heavy goods diesel from the BNSF in the US." Rebecca smiled.
"Ahhhh that lass. A very kind and sweet engine. She talks about you a lot, ya know." Salty responded.
Rebecca blushed. "I don't know if she feels the same though..." Rebecca worried.
"Don't worry me hearty. I can tell she feels at least something for you." Salty reassured.
Rebecca smiled feeling reassured.
A familiar bright orange diesel pulled into the docks. She was there to collect more goods to take onward to Vicarstown. She caught sight of the yellow engine.
Rebecca stood there scared.
Savannah eased slowly forward and buffered up to the nervous Battle of Britain class.
"Hey you." Savannah smiled.
"Hey..." Rebecca responded nervously.
"I could totally kiss you right now." Rebecca thought out loud. She didn't realize she had spoken out loud until she heard the GE ES44DC chuckle.
They locked eyes for a brief moment, then it happened. Savannah gently pressed her lips to Rebeccas' staying ever so still and being ever so gentle as to not bring back bad memories and ruin the moment. After a moment, they parted.
"I gotta go. Duty calls my dear." Savannah smiled.
"Be safe." Rebecca responded as the diesel reversed.
Rebecca stood there, blushing and smiling like an idiot. She wanted to squeal with excitement. For the first time in a very long time, she felt loved.
"How about that for a first kiss!" Salty excitedly chirped. "Way to go me hearty. So incredibly proud of you." Salty smiled.
News of Rebecca and Savannahs' first kiss spread around the island like wildfire. They soon announced that they were official and it all seemed to fall into place. Emily and Henry had one more idea, but that is a story for another day.
