Dick's POV

As I started to wake up, I felt the soft sheets of the beds in the infirmary resting on top of my skin. Besides the feeling of the soft sheets on my skin, I also felt, what I thought it was, feathers. Wait a minute! Feathers?! I also started to feel like something weird was stuck to my back. So it only got wondering as to why I was here and what happened to me. The sense of feeling wasn't the only sense that I got. Another sense that started to come back to me, was hearing. I was able to hear Wally talking to somebody, which I thought was Bruce, having a very serious. Which I thought was weird, since when has Wally ever been serious in a conversation. Smell was the next thing that came back. When I got my sense of taste back, it was very weird, I could literally taste the cleanness in the air. Which is really freaking me out. At last my sense of sight came back. After opening up my eye's, I immediately closed them. The light that was in the room was blinding. Carefully, I reopened up my eyes. No one was there, which I was kinda thankful for. I didn't want anyone seeing me so disoriented. Before getting out of the bed, I quickly checked myself over for any stitches or scars that may leave me a clue as to why and how I got here, since I couldn't remember anything. But while looking myself over, I saw something that I wish I didn't. Jumping out of bed, I ran over to the closest mirror to make sure that what I was seeing wasn;t just my imagination. Nope, it was real. Attached to my back, was... WINGS!!!

"Oh God, come on Grayson, this has to be some dream." I was wearing a casual T-shirt with sweatpants, but the thing that was freaking me out was freaking wings with black feathers that was attached to my freaking back. Don't judge me! If you woke up with wings strapped to your back, you would react to the exact same way. Not knowing what else to do, I just let out a scream.

Wally's POV

Telling Bruce wasn't the greatest thing that the team and I had to do. Honestly, I suggested that we didn't tell him, but stupid Kaldur insisted that we do. I honestly don't know what happened. Rob just went to make a call, while me and the team were setting up for the Matrix Marathon. Then we heard the scream and we came running to Rob. When I ran into the room that Rob was in, the last thing I expected to see was him covered in blood, while something was attached to his back. You should have seen Arty's face, she looked like she was going to pass out. After finding Rob, the gang decided to tell the Batman. When we called him, we didn't expect to see the whole Justice League right behind them. I was the one who was supposed to tell Batman, but I couldn't. If you have ever seen the Bat glare, or seen the face that Batman gives you when you interrupt something important, you just want to collapse. So not knowing what to do, I just simply speed talked, and before he could respond, I just hung up on him. I was literally praying that he wouldn't come and kill me in my sleep. The last thing you should do, when the Batman is angry, is hang up on him. Unfortunately for me, my uncle, the Flash, was able to understand everything that I had just said. So within minutes of ending the call, all the main Leaguers, Flash, Batman, Superman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Wonder Woman, and Hal Jordan Green Lantern, came through the Zeta Tubes. Zatara and Hawkwoman came too. I guess the League wanted to bring them along, especially after hearing about the wings. As soon as Batman walked through, the entire Young Justice team had to explain what happened. And let's just say that Batman's reaction wasn't pretty. Luckily they also brought Dr. Leslie, the Bat's main doctor. So she took a look at Dick. A little while after she left, Batman pulled me out of the room and started to talk to me about responsibility and all the things that I should have done. Just as Batman was about to continue about how speed talk is rude, a scream came through the hall... again.

Normal POV

Batman raced back to the examination room, with Wally on his heels and the sound of running footsteps behind him. After what seemed like forever, Batman burst through the doors to find his son sitting on the floor staring into the mirror. "Chum, are you alright?" Batman asked in a comforting tone.

"What do you think?! I have WINGS!!" Dick yelled back, "If you had wings, wouldn't you be freaking out?!"

Grabbing his son, Bruce drew Dick into a fond embrace. Holding his son always helped Bruce to go at peace. And at this moment, Bruce wished that this would never end. Breaking the silence, Bruce whispered gently into Dick's ear, "Don't worry, Chum, everything is going to be okay, Zatanna is here and he says that there's a hance that he can reverse the magic or whatever to make you go back to normal."

"Really, Bruce?" Looking up, Dick saw Bruce's face held no hints of any doubt. "Alright, let's get these wings of my back."

Walking out of the room, Dick saw that his team and the Justice league were waiting outside. "Wow, it still shocks me that you now have wings." commented Artemis as she stared at the large wings that were resting on her little brother's back.

"Dick, are you sure that you want your wings removed. Because after this, you can't put them back on." asked Zatara in a worrisome tone.

"I'm sure Zatara."

"Alright," Zatara then started to recite a spell to make the wings diasppear. As Zatara cotinued with the spell, Dick felt something going on with his body. Wonder Woman, noticing something weird going on with Dick, immediately pushed the magician out of the way before a ball of green energy came hurtling towards Zatara. Instead of hitting Zatara, the burst of energy hit the wall behind him, making the wall crumble to a thousand pieces. After witnessing what just happened everyone was starstruck, even Dick was shocked about what just happened.

Looking down at his hand, Dick saw the green energy starting to die down and return to body.

"That was so cool, but may I ask what the heck just happened!" Always trust Wally to break the silence.

"Dick, are you alright?" Bruce asked in a concerned tone.

"I don't know. Zatara, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean too... I don't know what happened! I didn't have any control of it!" looking down at his hands again, Dick, his eyes filling up with tears, decided to do the one thing that he knew wouldn't put his family in any physical harm. Run. Looking at his family, he saw that they were now checking out the damage. Gathering his courage, Dick decided to do the thing that he was waiting for ever since he got the wings. Flight.

Dick's POV

I couldn't think. My mind was so clouded. I just wanted to get away from it all. As if the wings knew what I wanted, the wings started to lift me off the ground. The more they flapped, the higher I got. My wings suddenly wrapped my body up and dove right into the wall. The wings then uncovered me once I was ouside in the bright sunlight. Looking at the wings, I started scanning them for any damage that may have been caused when they broke more of the wall. Suprisingly, the wings were unscathed. Turning my head to the direction at my family, I saw that League and team were even more awestruck. Before I could change his mind, I decided that it was best to leave. And that was exactly what my wings did. The wings started to carry across the beach that me and my friends always went to. Soaring over the water, I couldn't resist the urge of dipping my hand into the freezing liquid. Letting smile crawl onto my face, I started to make the wings go faster and faster. They swerved every rock formation, they dived under every stone arch, they carried me through the clouds up to where the sun cannot be hindered by the anything. Though it was hard to breathe, I didn't care. I felt so free, I felt like there was nothing that I couldn't do. An idea then popped into my head, waving my hands through the air, I tried to get the energy that came earlier to come out again. Mind as well get some training in. At first it didn't work, but I wasn't going to give up that easily. I tried again, and this time it worked. The power surged through my body. It was like a electric shock was coursing through my veins, but without any of the pain. I can't count how may times that I kept testing to see what I could do. It was amazing, I always wanted to fly and now I can. I always knew that I wasn't weak, and now I have powers. Everything just seemed so perfect when you're so high in the air. No worries, No fear, No doubting yourself. It's just you and the peace you get when you're up so high.

Regular POV

After Robin left, Hawkwoman was the first to go after him. Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern soon flew after her.

"Even I can't go that fast, I'm impressed," thought Hawkwoman. Pushing her wings to go faster, she soon found what it seems like a complex makeshift obstacle course. There were rolling boulders, shooting arrows, flaming rings you had to go through, and plenty of other dangerous things. It kinda reminded her of her home world, Thanagar. While staring at the marvel in front of her, she soon caught sight of Robin flying through the course like it was nothing. As she flew after him, she watched as he avoided all the obstacles in his path. But as she was distracted, one of the boulders landed onto one of her wings, completely crushed it. Letting out a cry of pain, Hawkwoman tried to get her wing out from underneath it, but the boulder was too heavy for to lift. Closing her eyes, Hawkwoman just started praying that someone would help her. She then felt the weight on her wing disappear, looking up she saw that the rock was crumbling. As she watched the rock crumble, she also was able to catch a glimpse of green energy encircling the boulder. Just as the last few pieces of stone was about to be removed, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern appeared.

"What in Hera's name happened?" Wonder Woman asked as worry laced her tone.

"And what's with the green energy?" added Green Lantern as he gestured to the green energy that is now fading away.

"I got distracted you should see this place, Dick must have created this. Anyway, I was watching him fly, and I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. Before you knew it a boulder came crashing down upon my wing." Making hand gestures to her wing, the members of the League started to do a full evaluation until a shadow of a winged creature fell upon them.

"Dick, thank Hera you're okay! Batman was so worried. You shouldn't have flown off like that." as Wonder Woman continued to chastise Dick, Green Lantern finished the rest of the evaluation since Superman went to get the others.

"I've got good new, I've got some bad news. Shayera, thanks to your healing factor, your wing won't have to be cut off, the bad news is that when the boulder crashed down on your wing, it damaged some nerve endings so we don't know whether or not you will be able to use your wing or not." proclaimed Green Lantern

"I may be able to help with that." making his way over, Dick started to look at the wing, before gentlely taking part of her wing into his hands. "Sorry," Dick whispered after seeing Hawkwoman flinch, "this will be over soon." Closing his eyes, Dick started to concentrate his magic on Shayera's wing. Instead of the green energy, that Wonder Woman and Green Lantern was usually used to, the energy that was coming out of his hands were golden.

"What the hell is he doing?" whispered Green Lantern, but all he got back from Diana was a hush.

Superman and everyone else made it just in time to see the grand finale. Seconds after enryone else arrived, Robin let go of Shayera's wing. From the looks of it, her wing was completely healed.

"Your wing should be okay now." Robin declared after taking a step back.

"Well, Shayera, how does it feel?" asked Wonder Woman

"It feels okay."

"It's completely healed." Dick assured her. Turning towards the rest of his audience, he told them, "I'll meet you at the Cave." And with that, Dick's wings lifted him up and, with a big gush of wind that knocked everyone over, shot into the sky.

"Okay, that's definitely something to get used too." rubbing his head, Flash and the rest of both teams got up and started to head back to the cave.

On a island in the middle of nowhere

"Borra, it is time. The spirit of the phoenix has risen again.

letting out a grunt, Borra headed out from his hideout and started his search for the future king.
