Chapter Five
-"They had lunch with Kono the next day. She was so happy for thetwo of them. They told her everything, and she said Boss, how many times did I tell you to go after her? There has to be a reason.
-" I should have listened and not been so pigheaded. Kono, keep this between us for now.
-" Boss, I don't think we can say you are here for 30 days. You know Danny will eventually hop on a plane to come here.
-"You're right about that. At least we have an Airbnb that he can't find so easily. I turned off the tracker on my phone and also did Cath, just in case he tried her.
-"Catherine said excuse me. I need to go tothe lady room.
-"Catherine leaves, and Kono says, boss, I didn't want to say this in front of Catherine. Lynn is posting a lot of crazy stuff about you on social media. Like what? How are you two going to be married and have kids? How she help you get over your ex, that bitch Catherine.
-"Are you kidding me?
-" I am friends with Melissa; she tags her with anything she posts.
-" OMG, I regret the day I met her. She doesn't know I am with Catherine now but I did break up with her. Kono, can you take any of that stuff down?
-"I'm sure can. Jerry shows me how to do it. She might open new accounts, but I can still take them down if she tags Melissa.
-"Do it. It is one thing to come after me, but Catherine, I won't stand for it.
-"Boss, just let me handle it because if you engage her, she is just going to take it that you still want to be with her.
-"Okay, you're right.
-"I am so happy for my two favorite people.
-" Kono we have you and Adam over for dinner onTuesday.
-"That will be great for us to hang out again like in the old days.
-" I figured you could use as much as lone time you can get. That's why I said dinner on Tuesday, and he winked.
-"Cath, I will have to call Mare now and tell her about us. I am afraid Danny might mention that I took 30 days' leave, and she will be worried.
-" Do you think Mare can keep a secret?
-" No, but I am praying she will. She has matured a lot since Joanie.
-"I am going to pack so you can make your call.
-" He pecks her lip. You can stay Cath.
-" It's okay, Steve. I think you should do it alone and I will talk to her later and apologize.
-" Hi Mare.
-" What do I owe the pleasure of this call without it being my birthday or a holiday?
-"Cut it out Mare. Listen, I need to tell you something and I don't want you to freak out
-"What's going on Steve? Are you okay?
-"Yes, I am fine. Listen, I took a 30 days leave of absence from work.
-" I thought you said you were okay.
-" Mare, just listen, please. It's a long story, and I want to tell you I was okay in case Danny called you and told you I was on a mission with Kono. That is not entirely true. I need you to promise you won't say a word to anyone about what I am about to tell you.
-"You freaking me out Steve.
-"The real reason is I am with Catherine. He heard her yell Catherine. Yes, I just found out something, she was forced to lie and leave me. That all I can say now and we are trying to work things out without everyone getting in our business.
-"You mean Danny. You know I always love Catherine, and I told you to go find her,and you told me to stay out of your business. If you just listen to me.
-"Mare, you were right, and I am short on time. I promise I tell you everything later and Catherine wants to apologize to you later. Please remember not to tell Danny anything if he calls you.
-"You got it, big bro. Tell Catherine I got letter Aunt Deb left for her. She always hoped you two would end up together. Thank God you are no longer with the blonde chick. All the crazy stuff she was posting about our family, and you never even introduced us.
-" Aunt Deb left her a letter and you never told me. I got us an Airbnb and we going to stay here for at least 30 days. I have you and Joanie out if everything works out like I planned.
-" Yes you were in your stay out of my business mood and I don't need anyone. I love to come to Vegas and I can bring the letter with me.
-"Yeah, you are right. I got go and love you sis. Love you too, big brother.
-" Catherine came back out. How did it go?
-" She said she would keep it a secret that I am with you. I bet she hates me.
-" No, she doesn't, and she said she always wants us to be together.
-"Get this, Aunt Deb left her a letter to give to you. She told Mary she hoped we get back together and she really liked you. Aunt Deb told me over and over to find you and talk to you. She could tell from your first meeting you were my perfect match.
-"I feel bad I didn't keep my promise to her.
-"What promise?
-"That I make sure you and Mary stay close.
-" You did, Cath, and the times you were in Oahu, you made sure we did. Birthday celebrations, holiday celebrations, and a lot of family outings. You know, I never did any of that stuff before you brought us closer together. I am sorry Cath, I couldn't see what my whole family did.
-" Do she still have the letter? Yeah, she will bring it when she and Joanie visit us in Vegas. I hope all of this will be over in two weeks.
-" Did Aunt Deb meet Lynn?
-"Hell no, I always make excuses for her to meet her or Mary and Joanie. She never hung out with the team because I knew she would not be in my future. Only you because I always knew you would be part of my family.
-"Catherine couldn't help but cry.
-"Don't cry, Cath, as he wipes away her tears.
-"They are tears of joy Steve.
-"How about we go to one of the shows tonight and have dinner?
-" I love it, and her phone rang. It Dave.
-"Steve frowned and said I'll go see about getting ticket to one of the shows tonight.
-" She could tell he was feeling jealous. That made her feel good. Hi Dave.
-"Hi Catherine, I just heard from your boss you are going to be taking 30 days' leave. Is everything okay?
-"She hated to hurt him because he was a really good guy. Everything fine. Dave, I want to thank you for everything you have done for me. Helping me from being lonely. I didn't want to do this over the phone, but I will not be coming back for 30 days. Steve & I had a long talk and we are going to try and rebuild what we had.
-" You told me he moved on with someone else, and there was no chanceof you getting back together. I love you Catherine and I am not giving up without a fight.
-"Once we both talk, we realize we were trying to protect one another.
-" What are you talking about?
-" She wasn't going to tell him about the blackmail now because she wanted to make sure there was no interference before they met the director.
-"Dave, I am not trying to hurt you, so you just need to trust my words. I am sorry things didn't work out for us. You really deserve someone who can return your love. I want nothing but the best for you and bye Dave and she hung up.
-" Dave was pissed. He was sure she would eventually come around and get over her Ex. He had moved on with someone else. Now, he is back in the picture. He book the next flight to Vegas. He meant what he said and he wasn't giving up without a fight.
-"Steve came back in and said I got us tickets to a comedy show tonight. How did it go with Dave and he drew his name out?
-" Uh, he was upset and said he is not giving up without a fight.
-" Steve said bring it on, and I don't think a CIA lawyer wants to tangle with a Seal and he smirked.
-"Okay, Commander, there will be no fighting going on. I think he just needs time to realize there is no future for us.
-" Do you want to have lunch out on the patio?
-" Yeah that will be great. I go get change and she get up but Steve grab her hand.
-" Cath thanks for willing to give us another try. I know I don't deserve it and he kisses her.
-" They are eating lunch and hear, McGarrett, I can't believeyou left Oahu.
-" Steve looks up and, in shock, says Sang Min, hey man.
-" Sang Min asked who the hottie you got with you?
-" Watch is a man, and this is my girl Catherine Rollins.
-" How come I never met her before
-"Catherine said oh, he the one who helped you find Victor Hesse, and didn't Chin hit him with an ashtray?
-" Yeah, that was me, and he he rubbed the spot Chin hit him in. McGarrett, can I talk to you for a minute?
-" Steve look at Catherine. It fine Steve.
-"Uh, McGarrett, I am glad I ran into you. I need your help.
-" Sang Min after I got you out of your last jam with the law. You promise to stay on the straight and narrow.
-" Yeah, yeah, I know, but trouble found me. The reason I am in Vegas is this guy, who I might have done some shady business back before I turned my life around, is out to get me. He said he hadn't forgotten about the 100 grand I owed him. I need to come to Vegas to meet with him to discuss how I would pay him back. He has someone watching my ex and my son.
-" Why didn't you call Five-O?
-" He said he knew about my relationship with Five-O and had someone watching there also. I couldn't risk anything happening to my son or the Ex. Why have I never met your girl before? Come to think of I never saw you with a woman. Williams did say something about a chick in the Army that made you all goofy.
-" Steve rolled his eyes at that last statement. Look, Sang Min, I am off duty and have no authority in Vegas. Catherine is the Navy girl that makes me goofy, and he smiles. We are trying to work some things out. I am sort of busy now. I tell you what Kono is here and if you are nice she might try to help you.
-" Oh yeah, Kono is crazy about me. I know she will help me.
-" I called her first to see if she can help you. Hey Kono, I just ran into Sang Min, and he is in a jam and needs some help. I told him I didn't have time and you know the reason why. Do you have time to help him? Okay, and thanks, Kono.
-"Okay, she agreed to listen to you. Here her number and Sang Min put it in his phone. Good luck, man, and I got to get back to my girl.
-" Thanks McGarrett, and tell your girl, she can always do better with me and he laughed.
-" Steve came back and said sorry.
-"Everything okay.
-" He needed my help with some trouble he was in, but I told him I couldn't, but Kono agreed she might help him.
-"You said he turned his life around, right?
-"Yeah, he did, but someone is threatening his family for something from his past.
-"Steve, you can help him if you want.
-"No, Cath, I am putting you first for once.
-"Neither one of them notices the two Chinese guys watching them from a table in the corner.
AN: Sang Min drama will bring both Steve & Catherine into it. There are other bad guys and good guys that will be in Vegas. We will get a lot of badass from McGarrett and Rollins. We have a long way to go before it affects Steve & Catherine's alone time.
