Chapter Four: A Haunting in the Night

After getting permission from their parents, Bongo, Bobo, and Asha were allowed to spend the night with the Lion Guard. Meanwhile, nearby, Mtoto, the Rhino, and the Hare slept together near the edge of the jungle. All seemed peaceful, until...

The Ghost: "Get out." A low, chilling voice whispered through the darkness.

Mtoto's ears perked up immediately.

Mtoto: "Did… did you guys hear that?" he asked, his voice trembling.

Hare: "Hear what?" She asked, still half-asleep.

The voice returned, this time louder and more sinister.

The Ghost: "I said, get out." It growled, filled with menacing anger.

Rhino: "I heard it too!" His eyes shot open.

Hare: "Is it…?" She stammered.

Mtoto: "The ghost?" He whispered, eyes wide with fear.

Rhino: "But that's impossible. We're not in the jungle." He said, trying to make sense of it all.

Hare: "Maybe Rafiki forgot to mention that the ghost doesn't want anyone outside his home either!" She speculated, panic rising in her voice.

Suddenly, the ghost's voice boomed through the night, deep and terrifying.

The Ghost: "GET OUT OF MY HOME!" It shouted with anger, the voice thunderous and chilling.

Mtoto, Hare and Rhino: "AAAAAAHHHHHHH!" They screamed, bolting upright and sprinting through the savannah.

Back at Hakuna Matata Falls, the Lion Guard and the baboon siblings were fast asleep. Bongo was comfortably nestled on Fuli's back, while Asha slept beside her, Fuli's tail wrapped around the little baboon for comfort. Bobo snoozed next to Bunga, and Ono perched beside Beshte, keeping watch. Kion lay a little distance away, enjoying the peace.

Suddenly, the Rhino came rushing in.

Rhino: "Kion! Kion!" He called out, panicked and distressed.

Kion: "Hmm?" He opened his eyes groggily, shaking his head to wake up.

Rhino: "You gotta help us!" He begged, his voice shaky with fear.

Kion: "What's wrong?" He sat up, concerned.

Mtoto and Hare: "It's the ghost!" They cried, arriving breathless.

Kion: "The ghost? That's impossible." He blinked in disbelief.

Mtoto: "No, it's true. We heard it." He insisted.

Hare: "Help us," She pleaded, her ears flattened in fear.

Fuli: *sighs* "The ghost?" She stirred, waking groggily.

Bunga's eyes lit up with excitement.

Bunga: "Did you say the ghost is here?" He asked with a wide grin.

Bongo: "The ghost?! Where?! Where?! Woahhh!" He cried out in a panic, accidentally rolling off of Fuli's back and landing on the ground with a thud.

The sudden movement startled Asha awake, and in her panic, she tugged hard on Fuli's tail.

Asha: "Ahhhh!" She squealed.

Fuli: "Ouch." She winced, but quickly shook it off.

Asha, now realizing what she had done, looked up with wide eyes.

Asha: *baby voice* "Sorry, Fuli." She said, guilt coloring her tone.

Fuli: "It's okay." She said gently, nuzzling Asha to reassure her.

Meanwhile, Bongo rubbed his head where he had fallen and walked back to Fuli.

Fuli: "Bongo, are you okay?" She asked, nuzzling him as well.

Bongo: "Yeah, I just hurt my head a little." He replied, smiling despite the tumble.

Bobo: "Hey, I'm trying to sleep over here." He groaned, still half-asleep.

Asha: *baby voice* "Bobo, it's the ghost!" She exclaimed, her eyes wide with fear.

Bongo: "He's out to get us!" He nodded vigorously.

Bobo sighed, rubbing his eyes.

Bobo: *sighs* "No, it's not." he muttered, still unconvinced.

Mtoto: "But it is! It spoke to us!" He insisted, his voice shaking.

Rhino: "Yeah, he told us to leave!" He added.

Ono: "Are you sure you weren't sleeping in the jungle?" He asked, tilting his head curiously.

Hare: "No, but it still told us to leave!" She said, her voice trembling.

Beshte: "Maybe it doesn't want anyone outside of its home as well." He nodded thoughtfully.

Bobo: "Okay, this is getting ridiculous. There is no ghost." He shook his head, frustration creeping into his voice.

Kion: "Bobo's right. Maybe you all were dreaming." He nodded in agreement.

Rhino: "No, it was real. We heard him loud and clear." He stomped his foot, his face full of determination.

Just then, Timon and Pumbaa arrived, looking curious.

Timon:"Ooh, are you guys talking about the ghost?" He asked, his eyes wide with interest.

Bunga: "Uncle Timon, did you and Uncle Pumbaa meet the ghost?" He immediately jumped up.

Pumbaa: "No, but one time we ate some delicious grubs we found in the jungle." He shook his head.

Timon: "Then the ghost told us not to eat the grubs because they were his." He added dramatically.

Bongo: "Now I'm even more scared of the ghost." He shivered.

Asha: *baby voice* "Me too." She added, clutching Fuli's fur.

Pumbaa: "Bongo, it's been a while since you met us. You've grown." He turned to Bongo, trying to reassure him.

Timon: "But now that you're a little older, you shouldn't be afraid of ghosts." He nodded wisely.

Bongo: "Mm-mm. Me and Asha are still afraid of ghosts." He shook his head, unconvinced.

Bobo: "Except for me." He said, crossing his arms with confidence.

Timon: "Hmm, you two should be a lot more like Bobo." He nodded approvingly.

Mtoto: "Lion Guard, you have to get rid of the ghost." He looked at Kion with pleading eyes.

Kion: "Okay, we'll take care of it." He stood tall.

Bunga: "Ooh, we're going ghost hunting!" He leaped to his feet.

Bobo, not wanting to miss out, got up as well.

Bongo: "Bobo, where are you going?" He looked up at him, confused.

Bobo: "I'm going into the jungle." He replied confidently.

Asha's eyes widened in terror.

Asha: *baby voice* "But why? The ghost is going to get you!" She said, shaking her head.

Bobo: "No, it won't. You know why?" He gave her a warm smile.

Asha: *baby voice* "Why?" She asked softly, curiosity mixing with fear.

Bobo: "Because you've got your older brother here, and I'm not going to let a ghost hurt my little sister." He said with a grin.

Asha smiled brightly and hugged him tightly.

Bobo: "Don't worry, I'll protect you too." He looked over at Bongo, who was watching quietly.

Bongo smiled, touched by his brother's words, and joined in the hug.

Kion: "Alright, Lion Guard. Let's go find us a ghost." He smiled at the sight.

Bongo and Asha climbed onto Fuli's back once more, and the Lion Guard, along with Bobo, stood up and started walking towards the jungle, ready to face whatever awaited them. Bobo walked alongside Fuli, determined to keep a watchful eye on his younger siblings. Being the older brother meant protecting them, no matter what.
