Chapter Six: The Painful Process
The group stood still, watching the porcupines scurry off into the jungle, leaving Bobo and Bongo covered in quills. Kion, Fuli, Ono, and Beshte all turned toward Bunga, frustration etched across their faces.
Kion, Fuli, Ono, and Beshte: "Bunga!" They shouted in unison.
Bunga: "What?" He replied, looking confused.
Ono: "Why did you do that?" He fluttered down, shaking his head.
Fuli: "You scared them away." She added, her tail flicking in annoyance.
Bunga: "Sorry, I didn't mean to." He shrugged, looking a little sheepish.
Beshte: "Just try not to mention the ghost anymore, okay?" He suggested gently.
Bunga: "Okay, I won't mention the ghost. *gasps* Oh no, I said the ghost! Oh no, I said it again!" He agreed, then gasped.
Kion: "Let's just keep moving. He said, trying to redirect their focus.
Before they could move forward, Bobo winced, his face twisted with discomfort.
Bobo: "Um, before we do, do you mind helping us take these quills out of our butts?" He looked up, both embarrassed and uncomfortable.
Bongo: "Yeah, they're really starting to hurt." He nodded quickly, trying to stay still.
Fuli and Kion exchanged a look of understanding and moved to help. Bongo and Bobo bent down, ready for the painful task ahead. Fuli positioned herself behind Bongo, while Kion stood behind Bobo.
Fuli: "This is going to hurt, Bongo." She gave Bongo a sympathetic glance.
Kion: "Just be ready." He nodded in agreement.
Bongo and Bobo nodded, both biting their lips in anticipation of the pain to come.
Fuli and Kion each bit down on a few quills and gave them a firm tug.
Bobo: "Owww!" He yelped as the quills came free.
Bongo: "Ouch!" He echoed, squirming slightly.
Fuli: "Ptew. Sorry, Bongo." She apologized as she spat out the quills.
Bongo: "It's… okay." He winced but managed a smile.
Kion: "Ptew. Are you okay, Bobo?" He spit out a few more quills.
Bobo: "Yeah, I just didn't expect it to hurt this much." He nodded, still feeling the sting.
Owwww!" He cried again as Kion pulled out a few more quills free.
Kion: "Ptew. Sorry." He muttered as he spat out another batch.
Bongo: "Yeowch!" He exclaimed as Fuli pulled out more quills.
Fuli: "Almost done, Bongo. Hang in there." She spoke gently.
Bobo: "Are they gone?" He squirmed slightly, looking over his shoulder.
Kion: "Ptew, just a few more left." He looked at the remaining quills.
Fuli: "Are you ready?" She looked at Bongo, her expression reassuring.
Bongo: "Yes." He nodded, still wincing.
Bobo: "I hope it won't hurt too much." He added, biting his lip.
Fuli and Kion bit down on the last few quills, their expressions determined.
Kion: *muffled* "Okay, Fuli. On the count of three. One… Two… Three!" He said, preparing for the final pull.
They both tugged the quills out in one swift motion.
Bobo: "Owwww!" He cried out.
Bongo: "That one really hurt!" He exclaimed, rubbing his backside.
Fuli: "Ptew. There. All the quills are gone." She spat out the last quill.
Bongo and Bobo both rubbed their sore butts, relieved that the painful process was finally over.
Kion: "Ptew. Alright, let's keep looking for the ghost." He spat the last quill out.
With the quills gone, Bobo climbed onto Beshte's back, while Bongo returned to Fuli's, holding Asha's hand for comfort. Asha smiled weakly, feeling a bit safer with her brother by her side.
The group continued walking through the jungle, ready to face whatever came next.
