Like some other writers I was feeling inspired by this episode and thought there's so much that could have happened. I also got some ideas from an episode of the h2o animated series (even though I don't like it in general there's some interesting storylines in there!)

This will probably not be a very long story but I haven't fully planned it yet so I'll see how I go :)

Disclaimer: I don't own H2O or any of the characters

Starts after the scene where Lewis and the girls tried getting the wish potion to work at the cafe, not knowing yet that it only works when they're in mermaid form

Emma, Cleo, Rikki and Lewis walked back from the cafe with a bit of frustration. After the failed attempt of getting the potion to work, they didn't really know what they could have done wrong. Lewis was flipping through the pages of the mythology book, hoping to find any clues they hadn't noticed so far. Cleo just had her eyes on the ground, not wanting to say anything. She had really hoped it would work. The struggles after her parents split up, the fact that her and Lewis were just friends now, the constant stress of keeping her mermaid identity a secret...it was all too much and she just wanted things to get easier.

"Told you it was a waste of time," Rikki pointed out towards Lewis.

"We don't know that for sure. Maybe we missed something," he replied, still looking into the book while walking. "Or maybe –"

"Well maybe it was just a stupid idea," Rikki continued.

"Hey, it might have been a weird thing to try but Cleo and Lewis just got curious, right?" Emma asked, looking towards Cleo who was walking behind her.

"Right," Cleo responded, trying to hide her emotions. She looked down on the small container she had filled with potion to take home, hoping to somehow find a way to make it work.

"Well, I'll see you tomorrow," Emma said as she started walking down the street to her home.

Rikki also made her way home and Lewis continued walking with Cleo until they reached the beginning of the street where she lived.

"It's okay, you don't have to walk the whole way with me. It's faster for you to go home that way," Cleo told Lewis, pointing in the opposite direction of where she was going to walk. Deep down she didn't want to say goodbye but she also knew they weren't together anymore and it would be kind of weird to let her ex boyfriend walk her home.

"Alright, well, see you tomorrow and good luck with the potion," he said hesitantly and started walking away.

Once Cleo reached home she decided to take a bath first, still having the smell of the fungus stuck in her clothes. She made her way towards the bathroom and locked herself in, placing the potion on the sink while she filled the bathtub with warm water. She entered the water and transformed into her mermaid form smoothly, the warm water swirling around her.

"How can I get you to work?" she asked quietly while applying some of the potion to her face. The smell and the feeling of it on her skin were quite uncomfortable but she knew she wanted to give it another try. What she didn't know is why it hadn't worked before. She had all kinds of different ideas in her mind that could work, from using her powers on it to saying a certain spell to activate it.

However, her thoughts were interrupted by an unwelcome visitor knocking on the bathroom door.

"Cleo! How much longer are you going to be in there? I need to use the bathroom!" Kim shouted, trying to get the door open.

"Just give me a minute!" Cleo called back, her irritation evident.

She then heard Kim walk away from the door and call out to their dad to let him know how unfair she thought it was that Cleo always gets to use the bathroom first.

Cleo leaned back against the wall and closed her eyes, trying to block out all her family issues and the stress that keeping the mermaid secret caused her.

"Sometimes I wish I could just forget about this whole thing," she quietly said to herself out of frustration, looking down at her tail.

Suddenly, the potion on her face started glowing and the room was filled with a bright light for a moment.

"What – what just happened?" she asked herself, realizing that the potion she applied to her face had disappeared. The situation was so weird she decided to not experiment with the potion anymore for now and got out of the bath as quickly as possible.

She quickly texted Lewis about what happened and decided to go to sleep early that night. She had started to feel slightly dizzy after the incident and hoped that a good sleep would make her feel better.
