Type: Kekkei Genkai
Chakra Nature: Yin Release (primary), possibly Water or Earth as secondary for manipulation
Clan: Phantom Clan (幽霊一族, Yūrei Ichizoku)
The Curse Phantom Conjuring allows a shinobi to harness their chakra to create entities known as "Curse Phantoms" (呪霊, Jurei). These phantoms range from low-tier nuisances to high-level threats, graded according to the chakra invested in their creation, from F (basic nuisance level) to S (catastrophic power). Curse Phantoms embody the user's negative emotions, and each level demands a unique set of chakra, skill, and life force, making them more dangerous to produce at higher tiers.
If a Curse Phantom is defeated, it does not dissipate but becomes a permanent summon under the user's control. This allows the conjurer to build a roster of Curse Phantoms suited to different battle scenarios—at a high risk.
Tiers and Chakra CostThe Curse Phantoms are divided by tiers, similar to the ranks of shinobi:
F-Tier (Genin Level): Minimal chakra investment; useful as basic distractions or minor utility phantoms. (Easy to summon; instantly under control.)
D-Tier (Low Chunin Level): Slightly more chakra; these can actively engage low-level threats and perform minor attacks. (Mid-Chunin users can instantly control at this level.)
C-Tier (Mid Chunin Level): A balanced phantom with moderate combat abilities and minor jutsu capabilities. Best suited for independent combat but relatively fragile.
B-Tier (Jonin Level): Requires significant chakra, designed to fight independently or alongside the conjurer, with minor elemental jutsu capabilities.
A-Tier (Low Kage Level): High chakra cost; strong offensive and defensive capabilities with advanced jutsu potential, demanding nearly all chakra from the average Phantom clan member.
S-Tier (High Kage Level): Drains nearly all chakra, as well as a significant portion of life force, from even high-ranking Phantom clan members. S-Tier phantoms are known to possess independent intelligence and specialized jutsu, rivaling legendary summoning beasts in power.
Summoning MechanismAutomatic Summoning: If the user conjures a phantom weaker than themselves (e.g., a Mid-Chunin user conjures a Low-Chunin phantom), it becomes a permanent summon immediately.
Battle Summoning: If a Curse Phantom is on par with or stronger than the user, they must first defeat it in combat or complete an overwhelming test to dominate the phantom and solidify it as a summon. This process is brutal but can yield powerful allies over time.
Unique Traits of Curse PhantomsInstinctive Combat: Phantoms act on the user's intent, able to sense and react to enemy hostility.
Chakra Feasting: Phantoms can consume ambient chakra to sustain themselves longer on the battlefield.
Emotion-Driven Abilities: Higher-tier phantoms manifest abilities based on the user's negative emotions, allowing unique attacks that exploit psychological or spiritual vulnerabilities.
Naruto uzumaki the Descendant of the Phantoms
Chapter one: The Birth of a Phantom
The Hidden Leaf Village slept beneath a quiet night sky, its peace disturbed only by the soft breeze moving through the trees. But behind the calm, shadows moved silently. Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage and a legend of Konoha, waited by his wife Kushina Uzumaki, who was in labor with their first child.
Minato's true heritage remained a mystery to most. Born into the Phantom Clan, Yūrei Ichizoku, Minato held a Kekkei Genkai that few had mastered—an ability to summon powerful specters made from his own chakra, binding his emotions to create powerful guardians. His life had always leaned toward peace and stability, a fact that separated him from the more fearsome path of his clan. But the Phantom Clan's elders, while disapproving of his marriage to Kushina, saw potential in it. The Uzumaki were a rival clan, known for their sealing jutsu and formidable chakra, yet a child with Uzumaki reserves and Phantom abilities could make their clan stronger than ever.
Tonight, that hope was about to be realized.
As Kushina's labor progressed, the birth went smoothly. Minato held the newborn, eyes wide and curious, and Kushina whispered, "Naruto…" Their son looked at her with bright blue eyes, reflecting both his father's warmth and her strength.
But the peace was not to last. An ominous chill entered the air, and a masked figure appeared silently behind Minato, moving with terrifying precision.
Before he could react, a gloved hand tore Naruto from his grasp. Minato's heart stopped, his senses screaming at him to react. But the figure, the rogue shinobi known only by his mask, held the child close, kunai glinting just above Naruto's face.
"Hand over the child," Minato said, voice cold and deadly.
The masked man only laughed, dark chakra pooling around him. "You'll do exactly as I say, or the child dies."
Minato gritted his teeth, barely able to contain the fear and rage rising within him. In a flash, the rogue vanished, with Naruto in tow. Minato knew he had no choice; he teleported after them, using the Flying Thunder God Jutsu to reach Naruto before the masked man could harm him.
In the ensuing battle, Minato was able to free Naruto from the man's grasp, teleporting his son to safety, yet the masked man had other plans. In the instant Minato was distracted, the figure reappeared beside Kushina's weakened form and began the unsealing process for the Nine-Tails, Kurama, from her body.
Kushina gasped, her chakra flaring weakly, too drained to resist as the man pulled Kurama's vast, destructive chakra from within her. With a burst of dark energy, the Nine-Tails materialized, towering above the village, chakra rolling off him in waves of pure malice. Minato's heart sank, realizing that the Nine-Tails was now fully under the rogue's control.
With Naruto safe for the moment, Minato turned his attention to the unsealed Kurama. He called upon his own Kekkei Genkai—the dark specter of his Phantom Clan heritage. Channeling his remaining chakra, he summoned a powerful Curse Phantom, an ethereal warrior that floated beside him, pulsing with a dark, protective aura. It was a being crafted from his chakra, an apparition that mirrored his deepest resolve and protective fury.
The Curse Phantom advanced, confronting Kurama with an eerie aura that made even the Nine-Tails pause. The specter glowed darkly, its chakra thick with Minato's will to protect his family, and for a moment, Kurama's chakra faltered under its oppressive presence.
But the masked man didn't hesitate. He forced Kurama forward, attacking the village with the full force of the fox's destructive power. Minato knew he had to act quickly. His Phantom spirit shielded him from Kurama's attacks as he moved, teleporting between Kurama and the masked man, buying precious moments as villagers scrambled to safety.
Obito's eyes narrowed, his masked face betraying a hint of annoyance. "Using your clan's power, are you?" he sneered.
Minato's gaze was cold, unwavering. "I'll use every power I have to protect them."
With his chakra reserves dwindling, Minato knew he couldn't hold Kurama and Obito at bay much longer. He teleported back to Kushina, who was weakened yet resolute, and made a choice that only the Hokage of Konoha could make. He would seal Kurama into Naruto, using his remaining chakra and his own Curse Phantom as a protective entity, one that would remain bound to Naruto as a guardian spirit.
As dawn broke, Minato completed the sealing jutsu, placing the last of his strength into Naruto, embedding within him the legacy of both the Uzumaki and the Phantom Clan. With the final stroke, he faded into legend, leaving behind a child who would carry both light and shadow, a spirit of both Uzumaki resilience and Phantom mystery, to find his own path.
