The Wasley family is broken, even after so many years since they lost a member in the last war, they're now fearing the worst as one of the oldest Weasley children has been missing for more than a year.
The name is Bill, a valuable member of the Weasley family but most of all, a great son and a more than amazing father and husband according to his children and his wife.
"I'm so sorry for the news, but the rescue team that has been sent to the place Bill was exploring concluded that there's no sight of him nor his team," Harry Potter, hero of the wizarding world said with a sad tone.
Not only does he feel bad for this outcome because Bill is a friend, but it's also because as an Auror he always wants to try his best to complete his missions, and to make matters worse this time he was personally asked by the head director of Gringotts to search for their missing cursebreakers who were sent to explore for something in the southern part of Mexico near central America.
That's why he was the one who was telling the family the news they didn't want to hear, Harry Potter is a valuable friend of the family, after all, the Weasley family is the family he appreciates the most in the wizarding world, growing up and the people he treasures the most, he even dated the only daughter of the family at the time but for a very short time.
After the war, Harry was not the same, he felt like his duty hadn't been fulfilled yet, so, he enrolled in the Auror forces to make a difference and catch as many dark wizards as possible and that's something he has been doing for almost twenty years, he couldn't bring himself to put Ginny at risk back then.
"Harry…Please be honest with us…What do you think it happened?" Now it was the time of a blonde woman who looked to be the same age as Harry Potter, she was stunning and she was accompanied by two younger versions of herself and a boy.
"D-Do you think our dad is dead?" Asked a younger blonde and she looked to be the older sister of the pair.
Harry remained in silence for a few moments, he wanted to collect his thoughts and be careful with his words, the last thing he wanted was to anger this family in such a delicate situation even though he knew they would never attack him, this wasn't a normal situation and people lose control of their emotions during situations like this.
"We didn't find a body, so, I can't say if he's either dead or alive," Harry said with a calm tone.
The reactions were mixed, some of them started to sob, some of them clearly accepted that their beloved member was probably dead, while others were probably wondering if he still could be alive or probably injured, they didn't know if they wanted him to be alive if he was in danger.
"We followed the pattern that he was sending to Gringotts every day since he arrived on the Yucatan peninsula, as far as I know, they were exploring on the ground and underwater around the Chicxulub crater, apparently they heard something about a lost magic Mayan city," Harry explained with a calm tone.
He decided to let the silence reign as the members of the Weasley family collected their thoughts, this wasn't something easy to process.
"However, no matter how many detection spells we used, how much we flew around the area, and how much we explored underwater…There was no sight of him, his team nor the city," Harry added and now the matriarch of the family couldn't stop herself from sobbing harder.
Harry hated the fact that he made the older woman feel like that but he couldn't bring himself to lie to her.
"So…You're giving up then? I can't believe you, Harry…I thought you were family and Bill truly appreciated you!" Ron was the one who approached the head Auror angrily.
"Ronald…Stop!" His wife, Hermione, and Harry's best friend said trying to calm her husband.
"The people from Gringotts were funding the search and rescue mission but they decided to call it quits, it seems like they gave up," Harry explained and Ron couldn't stop himself from looking defeated. "That's why I decided to search on my own, I'm going there, I don't want to raise your hopes but I received some information about the local magical community from there and it seems like they've heard some weird rumors," Harry explained with a calm tone.
Now he got back the attention of everyone and he couldn't stop himself from softly smiling at them.
"It seems like not only Bill and his team got lost around the area, there have been cases of muggles and local magical people alike too and some of them think that the reason why this is happening is because of something they've been trying to kept under, there's something they've been fearing for millennia," Harry took a moment to take a breath. "Do you guys know what happened in that area of the world?" Asked Harry with a raised brow.
No one said anything but Hermione suddenly raised a hand and Harry was satisfied with that, he knew that his best female friend was going to be able to enlighten everyone, after all, she was a brilliant muggle-born who knew a lot about the world.
"It is believed that the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs hit that area," Hermione explained a little confused as to why this had anything to do until her eyes opened wide. "Harry…Don't tell me that…" Hermione couldn't help but gulp.
"It's just a theory Mione, but according to the legends, it seems like the souls of all the creatures that lost their lives during that horrible event have a certain effect around the area, luckily, the place has always been kept under control as Mexicans don't want to disturb those souls and worst, anger death as they respect the figure or at least that was…Until a few months ago someone screwed everything up," Harry confessed with a worried tone.
"What happened Harry?" Asked Ginny with a troubled expression.
"It seems like the sectumsempra cult was there," he confessed with a cold tone, and everyone felt uncomfortable hearing that.
"What? The group that's trying to revive Voldemort?!" Arthur couldn't believe it.
Even if they were aware that there was no way to bring Voldemort back, the war left many scars on them and the idea of coming back to those days still scared them even if it sounded ridiculous to some of them.
"Yes…Those guys…I don't know how much you guys know about Mexican and Latin American magic in general but…" Harry wondered.
"There are two factions, the magic everyone in the world learns and uses and their more traditional magic that is not standardized and even some Purebloods around the world feel a little scared to try," Hermione said with a serious tone.
"Yes…The latter one can make even the most devoted death eater look boring in comparison because that kind of traditional magic has a lot to do with death…The base for that magic is the figure or entity we know as death and I guess the remaining death eaters from the sectumsempra group decided that it was a good idea to study that kind of magic to try to revive their master," Harry told them and everyone started to whisper amongst themselves.
"What are we going to do now Harry?" Asked Victoire with a troubled expression.
Harry felt bad for putting the family through this situation but he had to be honest.
"I…I'm planning on coming back there to personally investigate," Harry confessed with a serious tone.
"Harry…We appreciate your efforts to try to bring Bill back but we don't want you to put your life at risk, we can't afford to lose you too," Molly was truly worried and it felt like daggers to him.
Seeing her in that state only made him want to help this family even more.
"This is something I feel I must do Molly…I owe your family this and I can't come back to sit behind a desk while a friend…Someone who I appreciate could still be alive or in danger, I need to do something…And I know Ron and Hermione want to come with me too, right?" Asked Harry with a soft smile at his best friends.
"Could this be the moment for the golden trio to come back?" Ron jokingly said before he was slapped softly on his shoulder.
"I'm going too…As far as I know, the quetzal dragon lives there…I can't let you guys go there without me," Charlie suddenly joined.
Soon everyone started to want to tag along with him and even if it warmed his heart to see the Weasley family acting like that, he had to put a stop to them.
"While I understand everyone's feelings on the matter…I think the group should be small, all of you have families and you Hermione…You're the freaking minister, the country could become unstable without you, so, I wouldn't mind Charlie joining and Ron too," Harry explained but before he could say something else, someone decided to interrupt him.
"I'm coming along too!" Victoire, the oldest daughter of Bill said with a determined tone.
Everyone gasped at her words, even if she was already an adult, this adventure wasn't going to be fun, it was going to be dangerous.
