Halloween on Oak Hills Drive Chapter 8

October 19, 1991

Angela and Tony headed back into the house to give Samantha and Pierce some alone time. Angela knew Tony would still be fixated on their relationship and the stock market unless she gave him another distraction.

"So Tony… have you given any thoughts to Halloween this year? Since the Starlight Lounge closed, Wendy and Herb decided to have it in a hotel in the city. This will be the first one as an official couple…" she said as she walked over to him, getting flush up against his body. She could hear him gulp.

"Oh I've thought about it… a lot. A lot, a lot Angela! Any ideas how to spend such an important and momentous occasion?" he asked as his hands found her lower back, slowly pulling up the fabric of her shirt to reveal her silky smooth skin.

"Well… I was walking past some of the boutiques on 5th Avenue the other day and they had a whole display in the window of Julia Roberts' dresses from her movie last year, Pretty Woman. They had one dress that was really beautiful…" she said as she watched Tony's eyes get really big.

"The… the red dress?" he managed to get out. The image of Angela in that red dress- with her hair up, fancy jewelry- was causing the blood to leave the major organs of his body and head south at an alarming rate.

"I see you know the dress…" she said as she pulled herself even closer to his body.

"Buy it Angela. I'll rent a tuxedo and we can go as them this year! Although… I'm not sure we will even get to the party if you catch my drift…" he said as he leaned in and started kissing her passionately. They continued their very openly displays of affection until Mona walked in and made gagging noises.

"I can't believe me of all people is saying this but can you two lay off the PDA? You've only got eyes for each other and I for one am still sick of it!" said Mona as she rolled her eyes.

"Not this again! You of all people should be understanding of two people expressing their love for one another!" said Tony.

"As I said, I've seen it and I'm over it! So I take it you two have started planning your Halloween activities for this year?" she said with a wink.

"Actually we were just talking about it! We decided to go as Julia Roberts and Richard Gere's characters from Pretty Woman! I saw the perfect dress in one of the boutiques in the city!" she said.

"Well you certainly have the legs for it! At least the apple didn't fall far from that tree thankfully…" she said as she looked at Angela's chest.

"Enough Mona! Those legs will look mighty fine in that dress though…" he said as he leaned in, capturing her lips again in another passionate kiss.

"Well at least this year you are an actual couple. Those first few years you two were literally dancing around the huge elephant in the room were ridiculous. Although not nearly as ridiculous as last year's shenanigans you two pulled with those two morons who couldn't see what the entire rest of the world saw for those six years- just how in love you two were with each other. I did enjoy my front row seat to watching you two make complete fools of yourselves…" said Mona with a laugh.

"We weren't that bad!" shouted Tony.

"Yes we were Tony! We were both trying to hide our feelings and one up the other one to the point I sprained my ankle and you hurt your knee! We were both on the sofa for three days after that party!" she laughed.

"Well at least we both came to our senses shortly afterwards and broke up with them" he said as he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close to him again.

"Yeah and it still took almost a year for you two to get together!" laughed Mona as she headed out the back door to her apartment.

"The best things in life are worth waiting for…" she said as she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him into another kiss.

Angela couldn't wait for tonight. It was the first time they would get to be together at their party as a couple. She made sure her hair was pinned up and her dress was zipped up all the way. She took another glance at herself in the mirror and had to say she looked pretty good. The dress hugged her curves in the right places and the slit up the side would give Tony plenty of access to her legs later on.

Tony was already downstairs waiting for Angela. He had rented a tuxedo and was putting the final touches on the bow tie. He could never get it right and always needed someone to help him. That someone was walking down the stairs, taking his breath away with every step.

"Oh my god Angela… you… you look stunning! Those contests tonight are ours for sure! I'm aiming to win both best costumes and dancing!" he chuckled as he helped her into her coat. She grabbed a hold of his bow tie and adjusted it.

"We are a shoo in… oh I almost forgot! I wasn't sure because he was going to confirm today but my client was able to get us an upgrade for our hotel room tonight. How does the penthouse at The Plaza Hotel sound?" she asked.

"The penthouse Angela? Really? On second thought, let's skip the party and go right to the hotel!" he chuckled.

"Don't tempt me… now that we have officially lost each other as friends, there's nothing more in this world I'd like than to spend the evening locked in that room ordering room service…" she said.

"Oh Pretty Woman…" he said as he kissed her before picking up their bags and heading out to the car.

They were able to leave their bags with the concierge before walking the few blocks to the party. They were able to check their coats and headed into the main room. The room was about twice the size of the Starlight Lounge but it was missing the ambiance. Tony and Angela looked at one another, knowing they were both thinking the same thing. They spotted Wendy from across the room. Tony could feel all the eyes on them as they walked across the dance floor to an anxiously awaiting Wendy.

"There are the lovebirds! You guys sure do go all out on these costumes! Think you can let someone else win one year?" laughed Wendy.

"Hey! We're not a shoo-in to win! Someone else could take home our prize, right Angela?" he asked with a smirk as his hand found the small of her back. He could see most of the men in the room staring at Angela. His jealous and protective nature started to kick in and he knew he'd need to be within arms distance of her for most of the night to calm his nerves.

"Hey Tony, would you mind getting us drinks? I decided to have them make specialty cocktails tonight! Get us one of each please!" said Wendy as she pointed towards the bar. Tony reluctantly agreed and headed off to get the drinks.

"So how are things with you and your Prince Charming over there? Have you two… you know…" she said with a wink and a smirk. Angela could tell Wendy had already tried one or two of those drinks.

"Things are wonderful between us! Even better than I could have ever imagined! And not that it's any of your business, but yes we have…" she said as she felt her face start to match the color of her dress.

"Hot damn! Oh I want all the details! It was mind blowing wasn't it? I mean how could it not be? Look at that…" started Wendy as Angela interrupted.

"Yes Wendy! It was everything and more and that's where I'll leave it! Use your imagination Wendy, you're good at that…" she laughed.

"So when do I get my well deserved title of matron of honor, hmm? If I don't hear wedding bells coming from you in the next few months, I'm going to make next year's party a surprise wedding!" she laughed.

"Oh Wendy! We just started dating! Give us some time!" she said as she made eye contact with Tony at the bar.

"A few months… try seven years! C'mon Angela! I won't be young and vivacious for too much longer! I want to look good in those wedding photos! And if you want any little Tony's running around, I suggest you drop some hints. Your Italian stallion can be a bit dense at times…" said Wendy.

"Okay, okay! I've thought about us getting married… a lot. Nothing would make me happier than to be Mrs. Angela Micelli but he's not ready yet. When he is ready, I will say yes, a thousand times yes I promise okay!" said Angela as Tony came back over with their drinks.

"Alright Wendy! We will see you later!" said Angela as she left her and practically dragged Tony to a table.

"Is it just me or has Wendy already had a few and can't stop staring at my butt?" he asked as he looked over at Wendy smiling at him.

"Oh she's half in the bag for sure! And yes I'm sure she's looking you all up and down… along with every other female in this room! You look so handsome in that tux…" she said.

"Just like all the men haven't stopped ogling you since we walked in here! Thank goodness we are finally together this year and I can officially make it known you are here with me!" he said as he leaned over for a kiss.

"I'm all yours Tony, for as long as you'll have me…" she said as they pulled apart.

"Forever has a nice ring to it…" he said as he pulled his chair closer to hers. Angela's heart skipped a beat as she thought he was about to propose. She could feel her face start to flush and her breath quicken as he got even closer to her side.

"Shall we dance Angela, my forever dance partner!" he said as he stood up and offered her his hand. She wasn't sure if her legs would hold out, although when the realization of what was, or what was not happening, hit her, she had a renewed sense of strength and followed him to the dance floor.

"You okay Angela? You seem quite…" he said as he spun her around the floor.

"Oh yes I'm fine… my mind just wandered for a little while but I'm back" she said as she tried to hide the disappointment in her voice.

"Well I'm very much present and enjoying this night with my pretty woman…" he said as he pulled her close. She soon forgot her disappointment as they twirled around the dance floor. Soon it was time for the Halloween costume contest.

"Alright everyone! Let's get the contest started! Let's start with a crowd pleaser, best couple's costume! All you couples come on down to the front!" said Wendy. All the couples lined up on the dance floor. Wendy had all the couples come out one at a time before the judging began. Once again, Tony and Angela blew the competition away, winning the contest.

"This might be a world record! Most wins… not consecutive…" he joked as they took their bottle of champagne back to their table.

"I'm surprised Herb agreed to the champagne this year! I thought he got the wine in bulk… wholesale!" laughed Angela.

"How about we head outside for a bit? I think we have time before the dance contest" he said as he led her out to the balcony. They found a small alcove with a bench as they sat down. There was a chill in the air so Tony took off his jacket and put it around her shoulders.

"You remember sitting on that bench two years ago… I can't believe it took us another two years to get together after that night!" chuckled Angela.

"Tell me about it! I'm surprised we made it out of the parking lot without losing each other as friends! If I truly knew what I was missing by not being your friend, I probably would have never left that dingy motel room by Jonathan's camp!" he laughed.

"Well regardless of how long it took us to get here and all of the restraint we managed to muster over the years, I wouldn't trade it if it meant not being here with you…" she said as she leaned into him.

"It was just meant to be…" he said as he leaned down and kissed her breathless.

Three hours later, they were walking arm in arm back to The Plaza, two bottles of champagne in their free hands. They were able to officially check in and were escorted up to the penthouse. The bellboy opened up the door and placed their bags inside the main room.

Tony and Angela had never seen such a beautiful room. It was two stories- the downstairs had a huge fireplace with a sofa and other amenities. After tipping the bellboy, they grabbed their bags and walked up the large staircase to the master bedroom. In the center was a massive canopy bed with an adjourning bathroom, complete with a large bathtub and walk in shower. Both floors had breathtaking views of Central Park.

"Oh Tony… this is magnificent! I need to write a personal thank you note to my client first thing Monday morning!" said Angela.

"Maybe give them one of these bottles of champagne! Unless we manage to go through them both tonight…" he said with a wink.

"How about we get changed and then open up one of these bottles by the fireplace?" she said as she walked over to him, slowly taking off his jacket and loosening his bow tie.

"I think that's a wonderful idea… I'll crack open one of the bottles and we can sit by the fireplace…" he said as his hands found her hips and worked themselves down to the slit in her dress, causing her to let out a soft moan.

"Happy Halloween Tony…" she said as both of them spent the rest of the night celebrating their favorite holiday.
