Naruto blinked his eyes open, feeling refreshed. As he sat up, he noticed something strange: a glowing blue box was floating right in front of him.
[ Player has slept in their bed. HP and CP have been fully restored. ]
He stared at the message, scratching his head in confusion. "What the heck…?" he muttered. The box just hung there, silently waiting for him to respond. Not really understanding what it was, Naruto decided to figure it out later. Right now, he was hungry.
Yawning, he climbed out of bed and shuffled over to his small kitchen to make himself some instant ramen. While the water boiled, he glanced back at the strange floating box, curiosity getting the better of him. Carefully, he reached out and tapped it.
The blue box flickered, then changed, revealing what looked like a set of stats:
[ Status ]
[ Academy Student ]
[ Naruto Uzumaki ]
[ Age: 10 ]
LV: 2 – Next Level: 0.0%
HP: 280
CP: 300
STR: 3
STA: 12
DEX: 5
INT: 7
WIS: 2
LUK: ?
Naruto squinted, scratching his head in confusion. "LV? STR? STA? What does all this mean?".
Shrugging, Naruto turned back to his ramen and poured the hot water in. "Whatever it is, I'll figure it out later," he mumbled as he sat down, slurping up the noodles. As he ate, he glanced at the clock and froze. It was 7:30.
"Oh no! I'm gonna be late for class!" he yelped, jumping up. But before he could even move, another blue box popped up in front of him.
[ Quest Alert! ]
You're Going to Be Late!
You've noticed the time! If you don't hurry, you'll miss class. Better hurry up!
Quest Rewards: 20 EXP
Quest Failure: 5 EXP
Naruto blinked, staring at the new message. "Quest? EXP?" He didn't have time to dwell on it, though. If this "quest" was telling the truth, then he'd better get moving!
Stuffing the last of his ramen in his mouth, he grabbed his bag and dashed out the door.
As Naruto dashed through the main street, a new blue box suddenly popped up in his view.
[ Skill Created! ]
Due to repeated exposure to hostile intent directed at the user, a new skill has been created.
[ Detect Killing Intent ]
Allows the user to sense killing intent within a specific range. As the skill level increases, the range will expand, and the user will be able to identify the exact location of the person projecting the intent.
[ Detect Killing Intent ] (Passive) [ LV 1: 0.0% ]
Range: 20 meters
Naruto slowed down a bit, his eyes widening. "Whoa, that's neat!" he muttered to himself, amazed. However, the excitement quickly faded as a sudden chill ran down his spine, and he noticed just how tense the air around him felt. Glancing at the nearby villagers, he saw that many were glaring at him with narrowed eyes, their expressions cold and hostile. It sent an uncomfortable shiver through him.
"So… this is what killing intent feels like," Naruto thought, frowning slightly. "But why are they looking at me like that?"
Feeling uneasy under their intense stares, he quickened his pace, pushing himself to get away. After several minutes of running, he finally spotted the familiar building of the Academy just ahead. Relieved, he slipped inside and headed toward his classroom. When he opened the door, most of his classmates were busy chatting and hadn't even noticed his arrival, so he quickly slipped into his usual seat next to Shikamaru and Choji a new notification appeared.
[ Quest Complete! ]
Quest Rewards: 20 EXP
Bonus Reward: Arrived 5 minutes or more before class: 10 EXP
Naruto grinned as he glanced at the clock. "Hey, I'm actually ten minutes early!" he thought proudly, settling back in his seat. He waited a few minutes, tapping his fingers restlessly on the desk, before Shikamaru walked in, looking as sleepy as ever.
"Hey, Shikamaru! How's it going?" Naruto asked, giving him a friendly grin.
Shikamaru blinked, as if only now noticing him. "Naruto? What are you doing here so early? You're usually late… or you just skip class altogether."
Naruto laughed, scratching the back of his head. "Well, I had nothing better to do, so I thought I'd try coming in a bit early today."
Before he could say anything else, Choji entered with a bag of chips just as the bell rang. A minute later, Iruka-sensei strode into the classroom, calling everyone to quiet down before starting his lesson on Konoha's history.
Most of the students seemed to be paying attention, but Naruto quickly grew bored. Shikamaru had already dozed off next to him, and Choji was munching on his chips, completely unbothered. Naruto sighed, letting his mind wander, until he heard Iruka call his name.
"All right, Naruto," Iruka said, folding his arms with a small smile. "Can you tell us what the First Hokage's specialty was?"
Naruto's eyes widened as he straightened up, caught off guard by the question. "Uh… wood release?"
Iruka nodded, smiling approvingly. "That's correct, Naruto."
Just then, another notification appeared in front of Naruto's eyes.
[ For answering the question correctly, the user has gained 1 INT ]
Naruto's brow furrowed. "What's that supposed to mean? I'm not stupid!" he thought indignantly, feeling a little annoyed at the implication. He closed the box with a sigh and tried to focus, but his thoughts soon drifted away again.
After what felt like an eternity—actually 50 minutes—Iruka finally announced a break, and Naruto jumped up, eager to stretch his legs and get away from the dull history lesson.
After taking a short break, Naruto returns to his seat in the academy, spending the next seven hours dutifully sitting through his classes. As the final bell rings, he's among the first to dash out of the classroom, eager to leave. Stepping outside, he suddenly notices a translucent screen appear in front of him:
[Quest Alert]
Tutorial
You have just left the academy and are about to head home, still unfamiliar with how the system works. Back at your apartment, there's a book waiting for you. This book will explain everything you need to know about the system.
[Quest Rewards: 10 EXP]
[Quest Failure: 5 EXP]
Seeing this, Naruto feels a surge of curiosity and immediately starts making his way back to his apartment. Once he arrives, he notices a book sitting on his table that wasn't there before. Shrugging off the mystery, he picks up the book, only to be greeted by another screen:
[Would the user like to absorb the book: The System for Dummies?]
[Y/N]
"Absorb a book?" Naruto mutters to himself, then figures it must mean 'yes' if he presses the 'Y'. As soon as he does, the book bursts into tiny blue particles that drift into him. A moment later, another screen appears:
[Hello, Player! This tutorial will explain what the system is and how to use it. To open a specific page, simply say its name out loud. Available pages include Status, Quest, Skill, Perk, and Achievement. Choose one to start learning more!]
Naruto pauses, letting the information sink in. Deciding to start with the basics, he says, "Status," and, just as promised, a new screen opens up.
[Status]
[You have selected the Status page. Here are the basics: LV stands for Level. The higher your level, the stronger you'll become. Each time you level up, you'll earn three attribute points, which can be used to increase your stats.]
HP – Health Points: The higher this is, the more damage you can withstand.
CP – Chakra Points: The higher this is, the more chakra you have.
STR – Strength: The higher this is, the more damage you deal.
STA – Stamina: The higher this is, the longer you can fight.
DEX – Dexterity: The higher this is, the more agile and accurate you are.
INT – Intelligence: The higher this is, the smarter you are, which also increases your CP.
WIS – Wisdom: The higher this is, the better you are at using your knowledge, which also aids in chakra control.
LUK – Luck: A mysterious stat that influences certain situations in unpredictable ways.
Naruto reads through the descriptions carefully. "Huh… so that's what all these stats mean. But why is my luck just a question mark?" He scratches his head, wondering if he can improve these stats by training. With that question in mind, he moves on to the next page.
"Skill page," he says, and another screen materializes.
[Skill Page]
This page displays all your skills, from the simplest activities like cooking to complex techniques like ninjutsu.
[Detect Killing Intent] (Passive) [LV 1: 67.2 EXP]
Naruto raises an eyebrow, realizing that he must have gained experience in this skill just by being around civilians. "Guess those villagers glaring at me did some good after all," he chuckles. Curious, he taps over to the next section.
[Perk Page]
Perks are unique abilities that only you—or someone with a similar background—can possess. For example, if you belong to a specific clan, you might receive bonus experience in that clan's specialty skills or even unlock a kekkei genkai.
[???]
[???]
"Huh, why the question marks?" Naruto wonders aloud. "Do I have to discover them to unlock them? Tch, this system really likes keeping secrets." Frustrated but intrigued, he moves on to the next page.
"Quest page," he says, and the quest section opens.
[Quest Page]
There are three types of quests: Main Quests, Side Quests, and Hidden Quests. Each type rewards experience and sometimes additional bonuses based on the challenge.
Naruto nods, quickly moving on to the last page. "Achievement page," he says, and the final screen appears.
[Achievement Page]
Achievements are awarded for performing exceptional feats, like defeating an enemy far stronger than yourself. Each achievement may grant bonus rewards.
Naruto finally reaches the end of the tutorial and lets out a big yawn, realizing how late it's gotten. He glances out the window, noticing the sky has grown dark. "Guess I'd better get to bed," he murmurs, but before he can move, a screen pops up.
[Quest Complete!]
[Quest Rewards: 10 EXP]
With a tired smile, Naruto closes the pop-up and climbs into bed. But before he can fall asleep, he decides to open the Status page one last time.
