Crash Bandicoot: Welcome to Amphibia
Ch. 9: Farm Control
A small portal rift similar to the portals in the warp room showed up near the bandicoot house and a blue beetle carrying a piece of paper on its back appeared. It looked around and see the house and decided to head over there. Inside, the bandicoots were taking a day off from adventuring in Amphibia. Soon the door starts to knock, so Coco heads over and opens the door and sees nobody but hears a buzz causing her to look down to see that blue beetle in front of her.
"Jeremy?" Coco said as she recognized the beetle. "What are you doing here and how did you find our house?" She then saw the piece of paper Jermey was carrying. She grabs it and starts to read it. "This looks like one of Sprig's suggestion papers."
Before Coco could read it, a familiar voice called her the distance.
"Coco!" The voice shouted at her.
"Hey, I know that voice." Coco said.
She looked up and saw that the voice had come from a mutant panda girl quickly running towards her. She was wearing a green cheongsam, puffy red pants, green and red shoes and a white-water lily behind her right ear.
"Yaya?" Coco said as her best friend quickly got to her and started to hug her tight.
"It's so great to see my bestie again!" Yaya said as she continued to hug Coco.
"Yaya, you're hugging me a little too tight." Coco said to her as she can barely breathe.
Yaya's loud voice ends up waking up Crash from his sleep. As he gets up he sees Yaya hugging Coco. This gets him to start laughing.
"This isn't funny, Crash!" Coco said to him who just walked out of the house.
Yaya finally lets go of Coco and said to her, "Sorry about that. It's just been a while since I saw you."
"Well, we've been busy helping out a friend." She said to her.
"A friend? And who might that be?" Yaya asked.
"It's a long story…" Coco said.
Yaya notices Jeremy near Coco which causes her to look at him. "Also, who this little guy? Is he another one of your pets?"
Coco turned to see Jeremy and said to Yaya, "No, Jeremy isn't ours, he's actually a friend to one of our friends."
"Ok, now I'm even more confused." She said to her.
"Let me just tell you the story about Jeremy and how he helped stop a feud." Coco said as she started to tell the story. "It all started on a humid day in Amphibia. That the world we've been to by the way. At the Planter's farm, The Planters and Anne were busy pulling overgrown weeds." The flashback appeared and shows the Planters house.
"Hold on, Who is this Anne? And what are the Planters?" Yaya asked her.
"You need to be patient, Yaya. I can't just tell you in one sentence." Coco told her.
"You and your brother know I don't like being patient!" Yaya said as she started to get antsy.
Coco continued the story, "What I can tell you about Anne is that she isn't part of that world. In fact, she's human. One of the Planters named Sprig was getting tired, but when he saw the cow-a-pillars and got an idea, so…"
Sprig headed over to Hop Pop and said, "Hop Pop, Hop Pop!" He shouted to him. "Great idea! What if we trained the cow-a-pillars to eat these weeds? Then we wouldn't have…"
"Hup bup bup bup. Suggestion barrel's over there." Hop Pop said as he pointed towards a dirty barrel that had flies flying above it.
Sprig heads over with a pencil and paper and catches all the flies with his tongue and eats them.
"Suggestion 89…" Sprig said as he wrote down on the paper.
"We came in as he was making that suggestion of his." Coco said as the flashback shows Crash and her walking toward Sprig.
"Hey there, Sprig. What are you writing on that piece of paper near a barrel?" She said to Sprig.
Sprig looks up, sees Crash and Coco, and said. "I got an idea so I'm writing down my suggestion and putting it in this barrel."
Coco looked at the suggestion barrel and said, "This barrel looks pretty abandoned. Does he even read your suggestions?" Coco said.
"Doubt it." Polly said as Anne, who was holding her walk toward them. "I suggested a swimming pool months ago and that never happened."
"Oh, come on, guys. Have a little more faith in Hop Pop." Sprig said.
"All we're saying is that Hop Pop probably isn't reading the thousands of suggestions you write to him everyday." Anne said.
"Anne, I know Hop Pop read them so don't just make assumptions." Sprig said as he inserted the paper in the barrel's slot but he ended up putting his whole hand in there with it and it got stuck when he tried to pull it out. "Oops, hand got stuck." He got up on the barrel and tried to pull his hand out.
"Do you need help or…" Coco stopped talking as Sprig ended up toppoling the barrel revealing a fire pit.
"What the?" Sprig said as he saw the fire pit.
All of them see the suggestion Sprig wrote get reduced to ash by the fire.
"A fire pit? That's the opposite of a swimming pool!" Polly said.
"This is how Hop Pop deal with this? Not surprising around here." Coco said to Crash who was just minding his own business.
Sprig cried out, "Why, Hop Pop?! Wh-h-h-h-h-hy?!"
"Because the suggestions you kids asked for are ridiculous!" Hop Pop said as Sprig walked near him. "You can't just dig swimming pools anywhere. It attracts pests. Running a farm ain't easy, kids."
"Maybe. But if I were in charge, I'd listen to other people's suggestions, not burn them!" Sprig said as flames rose from the fire pit behind them.
"You? Run the farm? Ha! Run it into the ground, maybe." Hop Pop said. He suddenly enlarged his vocal sac which hit Sprig. Sprig retaliated by enlarging his own vocal sac to hit Hop Pop back.
Polly gasped and said, "Is that an official challenge?"
After hearing this, Sprig quickly heads towards a pole and starts climbing it. At the top, he reaches a bell and starts to ring it while hollering. He hopped down near where Hop Pop is. Anne walked in the center of them both while still holding Polly.
"Sprig Plantar, you have rung the Plantar Family Challenge bell! What is your challenge?" Polly said.
He answered with, "I want to replace Hop Pop and run the farm my way."
"Hop Pop?" She said.
"I do formally accept this challenge." Hop Pop said.
"Excuse me, but can someone tell us what's going on here?" Coco said who she and Crash were watching this.
"Don't worry." Anne said while feeling unsure about the situation. "I'm sure this will make sense in a moment." A bit later, Anne and Polly were sitting on a log that is holding a small bell. Crash and Coco were standing nearby. Hop Pop and Sprig are wearing loincloth and smearing mud on themselves
"It still doesn't make any sense, Anne." Coco said to her. "Should I tell them or you?"
"I got it." Anne said. She then shouted to Sprig and Hop Pop, "What the heck is going on?!"
"The Plantar Family Challenge." Hop Pop said.
"An artful test of skill where the winner takes all!" Sprig said.
Crash was still confused after that.
"They push each other until someone falls off a lily pad." Polly explained to them. "It's dumb, but fun to watch."
"Has Sprig ever won?" Anne asked with curiosity.
"I won in spirit!" Sprig said to her.
"There's your answer, Anne. He never won at all." Coco said.
"Enough chit chat. Let the challenge… BEGIN!" Polly said as she strike the bell with her tail.
Both Sprig and Hop Pop start yelling as they charge towards each other. Once they reach one another, they start to try to push the other off balance. Sprig was close in doing this but Hop Pop lifted him and tossed him at the edge of the lily pad. Sprig is able to hold his ground to prevent Hop Pop from pushing him off the pad.
Hop Pop chuckled and said, "Give it up, boy! I've got the experience and the upper body strength."
"Oh, yeah? Well, I've got the moral high ground!" Sprig shouted. He lied on his back and used his legs to kick Hop Pop off the lily pad and land in the mud head first.
Both Anne and Polly gasped and said, "Sprig won?!"
"That was unexpected." Coco said with Crash nodding in agreement.
Surprised by his sudden victory, Sprig said, "I won?"
"Nice work, dude." Anne said to Sprig as she picked him up by his leg.
"I don't believe it. I'm head of the farm!" Sprig said, gleefully.
Hop Pop got his head out of the mud and saw Anne, Sprig and Polly chanting, "Sprig's head of the farm!" All of them left and head back home. Only Crash and Coco stayed behind as they saw Hop Pop depressed at his loss.
"Looks like my time is over." Hop Pop said. He then walks away through the tall grass.
Coco said to her big brother, "Crash, while I'm still surprised Sprig actually won, I still don't think he can take over a farm by himself. I mean, did you see Hop Pop when he got up? We gotta tell Sprig he making a big mistake."
Crash was still can't get what is happening but he decided to follow his sister back to the Planter's home.
"We knew that someone like Sprig couldn't take over a farm by himself even with Anne and Polly helping out. We went back to their house so that I could talk to Sprig but he just talked back to me and that's when I lost my cool."
"Really? How bad was it?" Yaya asked her.
"Well…" Coco said as the flashback shifts to inside the Planter house where Polly and Anne are still chanting Sprig's name.
"All right, all right, that's enough." Sprig said as he stood on the table. Anne and Polly were struggling trying to keep from chanting. "Okay, maybe a few more."
"Sprig, Sprig, Sprig!" Anne and Polly chanted once more.
"Love it!" Sprig said.
"Hey, Sprig! Do you have a minute?" Coco said as she and Crash entered the house.
"Oh, it's you two!" Sprig said as he looked at Crash and Coco. "I bet both of you are psyched that I'm in charge now."
"Not at all." She said. "Look, suggestions are important in farm working, but you can't run one on them alone. You have to be more sensible."
"Really? You being just as bossy as Hop Pop. I don't need some sassy stick in the mud telling me what to do." Sprig said as he shrugs her off.
"What did you just call me?" Coco said, as she started to get ticked off at what Sprig had just said.
"You heard me." Sprig said.
Coco's response to Sprig's remark was to immediately do a spin attack on Sprig which knocked him to the ground. Anne and Polly gasped loudly when they saw this. Crash eyes widened as he couldn't believe her sister who had done what she just did.
"You big pink jerk!" Coco said angrily at Sprig. "All I was trying to get you to listen to reason, but you don't deserve my help!" She storms out of the house quickly after saying that.
"She needs to lighten up." Sprig said as he got back up.
Crash went outside and headed over to Coco who activated a portal back to their home.
She saw Crash and said, "I'm fine Crash. You can stay if you want. But I'm heading back home. I'll keep the portal open for you so you can come and go anytime you want." She jumped in the portal and headed back home.
Crash headed back to the Planter house and looked through the window to see Sprig talking to Anne and Sprig.
"Now that Ms. Killjoy is gone, let me say that so long as I'm in charge, no suggestions are bad." Sprig said to them.
"Swimming pools?" Polly asked.
"You betcha!" Sprig told her.
"Dance parties?" Anne said who can barely hold her excitement.
"Let's have one right now, baby!" Sprig said.
Anne put her phone on the table and searched her playlist until she found party music called "Montage -Mix- Magic!". She presses the play button on her phone and the music begins.
"Under Sprig's leadership, Anne and Polly start to change up the farm." Coco said as Polly starts to raise a flag that says "A farm that listens" outside.
Anne and Sprig start to salute with Polly joining in once she is done raising the flag. Polly and Anne start to make suggestions for Sprig to see. Polly wrote down Party Patio while Anne wrote Clowns. Sprig who was behind a banner called, "Management that Listens" gave two thumbs up to Anne and Polly suggestions which caused them both to cheer. Anne then uses Bessie to move a large mushroom that is filling a vegetable field with water to the swimming hole that has a makeshift diving board.
"Back it up, girl. There you go." Anne said with Polly chuckling.
Anne starts to nail the house wall with a banner called, "Party Patio Coming Soon", however her nailing causes the wall to crack and collapse. Anne just shrugs on what just happened. Polly arrived with bubble tea drinks for herself, Anne, and Sprig. They toast and slurp up their drinks. The next scene shows Sprig letting the cow-a-pillars out of their pen and into the vegetable field. One of them tried to eat the ground, but Sprig pulled on the rope around its mouth to keep it from doing that. Polly was able to lure it to the weed she is standing on with a radish. She moves aside and as the cow-a-pillar gets close, which causes it to eat the weed instead. Polly smiles that they were successful in doing Sprig's suggestion.
"Oh yeah. There's one thing I never forgot to mention." Coco said as the scene shifts to a frog clown performing as a mime while an earthworm plays carnival music via a music box.
While Anne and Sprig laugh and applaud to the clown performance, Polly was acting the exact opposite, with her sweating and being repulsive to the clown. She quickly snapped after a second.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Polly shouted. She jumps onto the clown and starts to punch him rapidly. "I…HATE…CLOWNS!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, Polly." Anne said as she picked Polly up to stop her from attacking the clown.
"We paid him for this!" Sprig said.
"It turns out that Polly has a severe aversion to clowns." Coco said to Yaya.
"That's a bit random." Yaya said. "If she sees you know who, she might end up attacking him as well."
"Yeah, I can see what you mean by that." Coco said as she knew who Yaya was talking about.
With the montage over, Sprig is shown looking at a blueprint called Planter Farm 2.0 which features balloons, a flag on top and a giant water slide. He stopped looking at the blueprint which shows the farm has already been changed by those blueprints.
"Soak it in, gang. This is what good leadership looks like." Sprig said to Anne and Polly.
Crash walks over to them with Aku Aku joining in.
Sprig notices them and said while gesturing at the farm, "Feast your eyes you two. Goes to show that listening to suggestions makes a difference."
Crash looked at the upgraded farm and couldn't tell that all those suggestions are great for the farm.
"If I may change the subject, I heard you have a little argument with Coco." Aku Aku said.
"She told you about that?" Sprig asked.
Aku Aku said, "She sure did. She was even really angry when she told me this."
"Oh, she'll be fine once she cools off." Sprig said as he isn't worried about how she treated Coco earlier.
"Hey, is anyone worried about Hop Pop? I haven't seen him since we got back." Anne said to Sprig.
Sprig wasn't worried about Hop Pop either so he said, "Eh, he's probably off licking his wounds."
"It turns out that after being defeated by Sprig he was at a cemetery." Coco said as the scene moved to a frog skull that resembled Hop Pop.
"Oh, my gosh! Did he die of depression?" Yaya asked as she started to get worried.
"Of course not, Yaya. Don't be so morbid." Coco said as the flashback briefly stopped. But, this is where he meant this little guy. Coco points toward Jermey who is looking at them both.
The flashback continued, showing Hop Pop strolling through the path.
He sighs and says, "Might as well get comfortable here with all the other frogs nobody needs anymore."
Hop Pop then notices a blue beetle struggling on its back.
"Need some help, little fella?" He said as he picked up the beetle and set him back on his feet. There you go. The beetle spread out his wings to say thank you. "Now, where was I? Oh, right... Crippling sadness."
Hop Pop walks off, but after a few paces, he hears some scuttling from behind him. He looked back and saw the beetle was following him. This caused him to chuckle.
"Hey, you're more loyal than my own family." Hop Pop said. He picked up the beetle again who just blinked. "I'm gonna call you... Jeremy." Hop Pop walked while carrying his new friend.
"So, that's how they met." Yaya said. She looked at Jeremy. "He does look pretty cute. Not as cute as me, but cute in his own right."
"This story isn't done yet. I still have to tell you how Sprig's leadership nearly destroyed their farm." Coco said.
Back at the Planter's house, Sprig was about to use the new water slide.
"Incoming!" He shouted. He rode the slide to the bottom to the poll where Polly was on a surfboard. When he dived into the pool, it created a wave that Polly rode on her board while passing Anne who was sunbathing.
Anne's stomach starts growling which got her to say, "Is anyone else, like, starving?"
"Dinner, great suggestion." Sprig said to her.
Anne, who is back to her school clothes, looked in the cupboard and found nothing to eat inside.
"Huh. No food in here either." She said. She closed the door and looked at Sprig who was searching a crate. Polly was checking her bucket for food.
"Guess today's the day Hop Pop goes to the grocery store." Sprig said.
"What are we gonna do? I am getting hangry!" Anne said with her grunting angrily afterwards.
Crash had an idea and was about to get out a wumpa fruit until Anne said to him, "Don't even think about it. I'm not that desperate to get something to eat." This caused Crash to look at Anne angrily.
Sprig thinks for a sec which had him gasp and head outside. He came back holding a bunch of beetroots and placed them on the table. "Fresh from mother nature's garden of delights. Dig in, everyone." He said.
Suddenly a creature resembling a myriapod popped out of the beetroot bunch and started screeching at Anne, Sprig, and Polly. They scream and run from the bug which starts chasing them until they are cornering them at a wall. Crash then used his slide to hit it and it flew a bit and landed on the ground. With the bug dazed, Anne took the opportunity to trap it in a wooden bucket and began to sit on it while the bug tried to get out.
"Whoops, didn't check for pests." Sprig said.
"I'm beginning to think there's a few things we don't know about running a farm." Anne said.
Sprig told them, "We've got some kinks to work out, sure. But isn't it better to live in a place where you're listened to?"
Anne said, "I guess so."
"Yeah, it is." Polly said.
"Since all of you are busy with this, we'll take the opportunity to leave now." Aku Aku said. Both he and Crash left the Planter house.
"Just you wait, tomorrow everything will be under control!" Sprig shouted at them. The bug gets out of the wooden bucket that became its prison and starts to attack Sprig.
"Don't let it touch me! DON'T LET IT TOUCH ME!" He shouted as all three continued screaming as they dealt with their unwanted guest.
"Sounds like they're starting to have problems." Yaya said.
"And that is not the worst of it." Coco said. "The very next day, I was on my computer, still steamed about what Sprig told me. Crash and Aku Aku were about to head back to see how the Planters farm, however they tried to get me to join them."
"You sure you don't want to come, Coco?" Aku Aku said.
She looked back at Crash and Aku Aku and said, "After what that pink idiot said to me? No way!" She turned to look at her computer again.
"There's no point in getting her to tag along right now. Let's go, Crash." Aku Aku said with Crash giving a thumbs up.
As soon as both of them made it back, they gasp as they see the farm has been decimated. The swimming pool has been dirtied overtime with mosquitoes being attracted to the decaying pool. The clown was atop a log to keep the cow-a-pillars from eating him. The Planters' vegetable patch has been shown to have rotted with flies flying around the patch. They were also flames but closer examination showed it to be the new flag Polly put up.
"Look over there!" Aku Aku said with Crash looking over there and sees the hole that Anne made yesterday.
Inside were her, Sprig and Polly near a chalkboard. The clown is shown running from a mosquito. They head over to talk to find out what is going on since they were last here.
"Good timing, you two." Sprig said as he saw them walking towards them. "We're just starting this meeting to talk about our situation."
"The farm is ruined." Anne said to Crash and Aku Aku.
"We have no food and we'll die!" Polly said to them.
"We can see that." Aku Aku said with Crash looking back at the destroyed farm.
"Luckily for us, we have the power of great suggestions and management that listens." Sprig says as he holds a chalk stick. "So have at it, guys. What should we do? Remember, there are no bad suggestions." He starts to write "SUGGESTIONS" on the chalkboard.
Anne and Polly looked at each other as they knew what the answer was, so they said, "Let's find Hop Pop and put him back in charge."
That sentence caused Sprig to suddenly stop writing at a nearly finished N and snap the chalk stick in half. He slowly turned towards Anne and Polly and said to them in a volatile manner, "Hopediah Plantar was a tyrant!"
"A tyrant who knew how to run a farm." Anne said as she tried to get Sprig to listen to reason.
Polly added, "And more importantly, cook."
"You know, Coco might be able to help out if you asked." Aku Aku said, which caused Sprig to crush the chalk in his hand, leaving chalk dust all over his hand.
"Coco Bandicoot was nothing but a killjoy!" Sprig said as he slowly turned to look at Crash and Aku Aku.
"Dude, she can be a little bossy, but she was right about this." Anne said to him.
"I will not go back to that life!" Sprig said. He then pointed towards them all. "Don't any of you like being listened to?!"
"I don't exactly feel listened to right now." Anne said as she starts to feel uncomfortable on how Sprig is being toward her.
"Ditto. You're kinda freakin' me out, bro." Polly said as she does a little backing off as she sees Sprig.
Crash added by spinning his finger near his head as he thought Sprig was going crazy.
Sprig starts to angrily hyperventilate, but he calms down and exhales. He then wiped the chalk from his hand on his hat.
"Let's take 15 minutes and start this meeting over. And next time, bring a good suggestion." He said to them. He turned around and walked away.
"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Anne said to Polly.
"Oh, yeah." Polly said.
Aku Aku looked at Anne and Polly and said, "You two look like you got a plan."
"You bet we do!" Anne said. "You should go get Coco if you can."
"We'll try to get her." Aku Aku said with Crash hoping they can get her sister this time. "Good luck in finding him." He and Crash head back to the portal and head back home while Anne and Polly search for Hop Pop.
Back at the cemetery, a brown beetle was picking up a mushroom atop a gravestone that says Slippy - He slipped. More beetles were gathering food. Hop Pop is joining picking food and is now dressed as a caveman with Jermey with him.
"Jeremy, I can't thank you enough for letting me into your community. I feel like I'm really part of something now." Hop Pop said.
"There he is! Hop Pop!" Polly said as Anne ran towards him.
"Dude, we've been looking all over for you." Anne said.
"Hello, girls." Hop Pop said as he turn to look at Anne and Polly. "You here to help us scavenge? It's gonna be a long, cold winter. More bodies means more warmth for everyone." The beetles starts to surround him with Jeremy being on top of his head.
"Uh, no." Anne said. "Sprig is ruining the farm. You've gotta come back."
"We've been eating nothing but raw potatoes and the occasional fruit Crash brings." Polly said to him. "I'm having digestive strife, Hop Pop. DIGESTIVE! STRIFE!"
"Give me a minute, boys." Hop Pop said to the beetles which cause them to disperse. He gets up and sighs. "I've grown since the last time you saw me. How long's it been now?"
"A day and a half."Polly said with a lack of energy.
"I've gots me a new life among the beetles. They've taught me about community, equality, listening." Hop Pop said with him mediating with his eyes closed after he finished speaking.
"Sprig sleeps in your bed now." Anne said as she is shown a lack of expression.
"He what?!" Hop Pop said as they caused him to quickly get shocked.
Crash and Aku Aku head back to N. Sanity Island and head ot the front of their home were Coco is with her computer.
She noticed them in front of her and said, "What is it now, guys?"
"It's the Planters, Coco." Aku Aku said. "Their farm is in shambles."
"Oh, come on guys. I'm sure Sprig didn't cause that much damage." Coco said.
"It's much worse than you think it is." He said which caught Coco by surprise.
"Wow, this is getting badder than I thought it would."She said. "Ok, I'll come to see the damage.".
At the farm, Sprig was back at the chalkboard in a hunch position. A cow-a-pillar passes by a crash against a wall.
"Now where did those ungrateful kids and our new buddies get off to?" Sprig said as he started to look around the farm for them.
Sprig notices a portal opening in front of him. Out of it comes Crash and Aku Aku. Coco came out last and looked at Sprig who gasped at seeing her.
"Guess who's back, Sprig." Coco said to him while putting her hand on her hip.
Suddenly from a great height, Hop Pop landed near Sprig with Anne and Polly walking nearby.
"I have returned." He said.
As Sprig got back up, he said while looking at Hop Pop and Coco, "I don't believe it." He then turned to Anne, Polly, Crash, and Aku Aku and said, "Backstabbers! Conspirators!"
Anne said to him, "Sorry, dude. We had a good run, big ambitions…"
Polly jumped off Anne's head and on to Hop Pop. She then said to Sprig, "But we didn't know what we were doing."
"We had a beautiful dream, but I guess I'm the only one willing to fight for it." Sprig said as he raised the "Listening is Loving" flag.
"You three had that dream, we took no part in it." Aku Aku said, correcting him.
Hop Pop pulled out a small bell and rang it. Sprig Plantar, "I challenge you to a rematch. Winner gets control of the farm...forever!" He said.
"Sprig, do you accept this challenge?" Polly said.
"Please say yes." Anne said while gritting her teeth in persistence.
"He's gonna accept this, Anne, otherwise he's gonna answer to me." Coco said.
Sprig squinted his eyes and said, "I accept."
Back at the lilypad where the first challenge was, the mood was intense and Sprig and Hop Pop who are once again in their loincloths started to put mud all over their faces.
"Hmm." Hop Pop as he looked back at Sprig.
Sprig said to him while putting mud on his face, "I beat you once, I can do it again. I'll prove my way is right."
"We'll see." Hop Pop said with Sprig grunting at what he just said.
Anne starts to bite her fingernails as she get nervous to think who will win.
"Well, this is it, guys." Coco said while Jeremy got between Anne and Polly on the log. "Whoever wins this will decide the fate of the farm."
"True that." Polly said. "Now, let the final challenge begin!" She rang the bell and the challenge started.
Both Sprig and Hop Pop start to scream as they charge toward each other. As they got near they both stick out their tongue at each other while the mud waves they created from their running obscure them both. They were both hit by the other's tongue and knocked them down while the mud waves receded.
As he got back up, Hop Pop said, "The girls told me everything, Sprig."
"What?" Sprig said as he got back up, but he fell back down, due to Hop Pop's tongue hitting him from behind.
"You're destroying the farm." Hop Pop said as Sprig looked back at him. "Don't you see? Even if you win, you lose." Sprig then kicked him and immediately got back up.
"So, I'm just supposed to go back to the way things were? You never listened to us." Sprig said.
Due to him dropping his guard, Hop Pop sneaked up and grabbed him from behind.
"And I was wrong. I know now that you can't work together unless everyone has a say. Jeremy taught me that." Hop Pop said. Crash and Coco looked at the beetle behind Anne and Polly, confused on how he managed to convince Hop Pop in this.
Sprig tried to get Hop Pop to let go of him, but they ended up still trying to get the upper hand until they stopped.
"You... You mean it?" He said to him. "I have to admit, but you and Coco were right about most of my ideas being pretty terrible. I think we even caused permanent damage to the ecosystem."
"Yeah, but some of your ideas could work. We'll never know unless we try. I promise from now on to actually read your suggestions." Hop Pop said which caused everyone to gasp. Jermey was even surprised as well.
"Promise?" Sprig asked.
"Promise." Hop Pop said, giving his word.
Sprig smiled, let go, and fell down off the lilypad into the mud which caused him to be knocked out.
"And the winner is Hop Pop!" Polly shouted.
"After all that, everything went back to normal for everyone which is about as normal as things get around in Wartwood." Coco said to Yaya as the flashback shifts back to the Planters' house.
Hop Pop comes out of the house and sees Anne and Sprig working outside.
"Phew!" Anne said as she started to sweat. "Think we could set up some shade out here, Hop Pop?" Both Anne and Sprig were surprised when they saw a giant shadow shading them. It turns out to be Hop Pop who put a large mushroom above to shade Anne and Sprig from the heat.
"Great suggestion, Anne." Hop Pop said to her.
Anne said, "Thanks Hop Pop."
Hop Pop then said, "And over there, I kept a small version of your swimming hole."
He points towards the swimming hole he shrank down from the original version. A small bug landed on top of the pool, but Polly rose from the pool and ate in it one bite which caused everyone to laugh.
"Oh!" Hop Pop said as he remembered something important to say. He hopped toward the suggestion barrel. "And best of all, no more pit of fire." He flipped the barrel to show that the fire pit is no more.
Sprig started to tear up and said, "Thanks Hop Pop." He hugged him to which Hop Pop just hugged back.
Crash, Coco, and Aku Aku were observing them from a distance.
"Wow, they were quickly arguing, and now they made up just as fast. I'll never figure out this world." Coco said.
"I doubt any of us will, Coco." Aku Aku said with Crash just nodding in agreement.
They were about to leave, but Sprig stopped them by saying, "Wait a minute you guys!"
All three looked at Sprig when they heard his voice.
"What do you want, Sprig?" Coco said.
"I want to apologize for calling you a stick in the mud and a killjoy, Coco." Sprig said to her.
"Well, you should have called me that in… Hang on, you called me a what? She said as she quickly realized the other thing Sprig called her.
"Oh frog! I forgot I called her that when she wasn't here." Sprig thought to himself.
As he looked at Coco, he sees that she was angry at him again. He quickly turned white in fear, but Coco took a deep breath and said, "It's fine, Sprig. I know you were just like this to get Hop Pop to actually read your suggestions and now he is. But now I wonder how he's going to read them all."
"Oh, I'm sure he has a way." Sprig said.
"Hop Pop did have a way to read all of them." Coco said to Yaya.
Later that night in Hop Pop's study, where Hop Pop was sitting in his chair. Jermey brings one of Sprig's suggestions to Hop Pop as this is the way he will be able to read all of Sprig's suggestions.
"Thank you, Jeremy." He said to him. He pulled out his reading glasses and reads it but then he said, "Nope." And tosses the suggestion into the fireplace. He does the same thing with the next suggestion given by another beetle. However, the suggestion the third beetle gave him caused him to say, "This one maybe."
The flashback ended and Coco and Yaya were shown again.
"And that's the story on how Jermey helped out with Sprig and Hop Pop's suggestion problem." Coco said.
"Now that was a strange story." Yaya said. "So, why is this little guy here and not back with his friend?"
Coco looked at Jermey who looked back at her. "I guess Hop Pop sent him to me so that I can read some of the suggestions since Sprig wrote so many, but I still don't know how he made it to N. Sanity Island." She said. "He couldn't have used the warp rooms, could he? Oh well, I'll just bring him back the next time we're in Wartood."
"Hey, since you're going, you think I can join you?" Yaya asked her.
"Sure, the next time we head to Wartwood, you can come along with us. "Coco said.
"ALRIGHT!" Yaya shouted. "This is gonna be great!"
"Kinda wish she wouldn't shout when she gets excited." Coco thought to herself.
