Hello everyone! Welcome to the next chapter of Blond Beast of Beacon.
Last time we left off Jaune and Blake have been dealing with some... sleeping issues as they continue to lose sleep.
Unfortunately they decided to take a snooze in Oobleck's class and in return he gives them both an assignment they have to complete.
Now they created a time to meet up and where they will meet, all that's left is for them to join up to complete the paper.
But... things might not pan out as smooth as they do on this Thursday night.
What do I mean by that? Well you'll see.
Enough of the chatter though. Its time for chapter three to start.
Let's get it on!
I don't own RWBY that is now in the hands of Viz Media, please support the official release.
Chapter 3: Hunger of the Wolf
(Beacon Rooftop, Wednesday Night)
A clash of steel could be heard on the rooftop of Beacon as Jaune and Pyrrha were going through their routine sparring sessions, which they had agreed upon at the beginning of the semester. The violet-colored sky was growing darker thanks to the setting sun, but the duo were still at work, with Crocea Mors and Milo biting against each other in a blade lock.
Pyrrha could feel Jaune's strength through his pushback, which was astounding in her opinion. He had barely slept in the last couple of days, being half awake throughout the day. She was surprised that he was even awake right now, as he had been almost half asleep during Combat Class.
Thank Oum he didn't get called to fight today, otherwise he would have been in some hot water with the Deputy Professor, as Pyrrha noticed the terrible state he's been in for the past week due to his lack of rest.
Yet now... for some strange reason, he's bursting with energy tonight during their little sparring session. This was definitely a surprise to the red-haired girl, as Jaune showed a strong offensive presence right out of the gate, with heavy hitting vertical and horizontal slashes and good speed, putting her on the backfoot for the first time since they trained together.
This was new to Pyrrha, actually feeling quite pressured by Jaune in a spar.
After a few moments to let the shock wear off, Pyrrha got back into the groove of things, taking up a more protective stance with her bronze shield, holding her ground against his attacks. The clash was broken as Jaune backed up slightly, and she would have stumbled if not for her steady stance and her semblance keeping her upright.
Her shield arm was getting worked tonight as her partner continued to strike her metal protection. Putting her body weight and aura-infused strength into the block, she waited until her leader lulled in his strikes. Slashes, chops, and sweeping blows were aplenty as sparks flew off her shield as the biting blade that was Crocea Mors danced in the growing moonlight.
Suddenly... she decided to backstep slightly, causing him to overextend his sword-stabbing arm.
"Now," she thought, as the perfect opening was shown to her.
Deciding that she was done playing the defensive game, Pyrrha decided to strike! With fluid motion she had practiced dozens of times, the red-haired girl instantly capitalized on his mistake. Jaune's blue eyes widened as he felt her strong strike against his sword arm, feeling his arm batted away and realizing his mistake.
He was wide open for his partner to attack him.
The blonde was desperately trying to put his shield up to form some kind of resistance against Milo's devastating attacks.
However, Pyrrha was relentless in this assault, following up her weapon-hand-breaking strike with rapid multiple stabbing strikes that hit paydirt against Jaune. This caused him to stumble backwards and lose a bit of his footing, threatening to knock him down.
She finished multiple strikes with a powerful shield bash, knocking the blond back hard. His feet skidded a bit thanks to the concussive force she brought to the table.
Pyrrha could hear the blond grunting as those attacks hit him. Her face was stone-like, but on the inside, she was slightly concerned. She heard the blond give out an angry snarl at the hits, showing a look that she didn't like on Jaune.
Anger. It was an emotion she didn't like seeing on him. She knew he probably felt frustrated from those hits due to his mistakes, but there was no need to get too mad about this sparring session.
"Remember not to overextend your reach, Jaune." She tried to remind him in a friendly/helpful tone. He did have a shorter blade compared to most fighters, so knowing your distance is crucial.
"Got it." His tone was curt, and his growl had disappeared as soon as it started. The knight quickly returned to the fray, and Pyrrha's concentration shifted back to her opponent.
She hoped he wasn't too mad at her tonight. It was just some sparring practice today. Nothing too serious to end the day.
This time, Jaune held his shield out. He twirled Crocea Mors once before catching it in his hand and raising his shield to protect his chest area, with his sword slightly angled towards his head. She noticed his cerulean eyes glow slightly, and his face had a competitive smile, showing a bit of teeth to Pyrrha, feeling this new excited energy.
Guess she was worried for nothing as her blonde partner's smile instantly cleared away her worry.
Though she couldn't help but see a few more sharp canines in that smile of his...
'Huh. Strange...' Her thoughts were cut off as Jaune began with a sort of diagonal slash that was heading towards her left shoulder. Luckily she was focused enough to block the strike before the heavy hit could reach her. She followed up with a stab of her own before Jaune quickly blocked the attack and followed up with a quick horizontal strike.
As the spar continued, Pyrrha noticed something different this time around. Instead of an aggressive striking pattern, just flailing angrily and using energy to attack, the knight of JNPR was mixing up precise, random patterns to try to hit Pyrrha.
The first was a combination of horizontal swings to the left and right three times, followed by two diagonal swipes across her body. When she attempted to strike with her own stabs towards his face, the blond ducked and quickly tried a wide upward slash that nearly hit her if she hadn't hopped slightly backward.
Pyrrha had to admit that her partner was really good at switching up strategies to fix his issues. As he now shifted into a wide stance, with his shield out in front and his other hand holding the sword up towards his chest, showing a familiar pose that indicated he was going to start his stabbing attacks.
Like a quick lightning bolt his sword was now going in fast stabbing motions to hit her. Crocea Mors actually getting a couple hits on her as his stabs were in different in placement each time, the hoplite hearing Jaune push himself as he was letting out grunts each time he stabbed forward in succession.
Despite being proud of Jaune's more aggressive fighting style, Pyrrha was internally jumping for joy at seeing her leader start to grow more confident in his fighting abilities as they continued being a team. Watching with excitement as he started winning more and more fights in Ms. Goodwitch's Combat Practice class.
Of course, he'd have a couple of losses here and there, but Jaune always fought tooth and nail to make it as difficult as possible for the opponent to beat him. As she recalled, Blake had trouble taking him down with her fast, needling strikes against the blond.
But with all of his improvement climbing at a rapid pace, Goodwitch was now starting to put him against tougher opponents that he would originally have no chance of defeating. Yang was one of the best fighters among the first years, and the Mistral girl knew that her leader needed to focus on a primary issue that he had been having since the beginning of the semester.
The primary issue was his speed.
Unfortunately, as it was to admit... Pyrrha had to point out that Jaune was the slowest of both Team RWBY and Team JNPR by a pretty large margin. His attack speed is a little sluggish compared to the quick attackers like Ruby, Weiss, and Blake. But in her assessment, it wasn't really fair considering that each of those she pointed out had semblances that helped in dodging and misdirection, such as Blake's clones, but with Weiss and her Time Dilation Glyphs, which could overclock how fast she could go.
And don't even get her started on Ruby's speed... that little girl is a blur on the field of battle, and the Mistralian Spartan has had some trouble keeping up with her from time to time.
Then there was Yang... While the blond brawler struck the slowest out of Team RWBY, there was a catch to that.
The blonde firecracker from the Island of Patch could dish out the most damage compared to her peers.
Her Semblance, Burn, once activated, would flatten most opponents thanks to an increase in power, speed, and strength. Yang already hits hard with her normal strikes.
But Yang Xiao Long with Burn? She could practically knock out anyone's aura with a single burning punch, as she has already put multiple opponents through the wall with her overwhelming power.
Shoot, even Pyrrha felt the heat and force of Yang's attacks in sparring matches, and she could safely say that if she didn't have her semblance helping her out and timing her dodges correctly, the red-haired girl would be having more knuckle sandwiches in her diet during Ms. Goodwitch's class.
With how powerful their sister team sounded, it seemed like her leader wouldn't have any advantage against the girls.
However, as they both continued to train and workout together throughout the semester, Pyrrha had noticed one big factor that could be a major advantage when fighting against Team RWBY.
The blond knight could hit with the strength of a crashing Bullhead.
Pyrrha had been on the receiving end of his attacks and she had to admit that when Jaune struck with his sword or gave her a shield bash, he could move her pretty easily. While not at Yang's knockback strength, Pyrrha could feel herself get pushed back slightly with Jaune's new method of attacking with strong power swings with his sword hand and following up with staggering shield blows that could open up opponents for attack.
It's thanks to these strong attacks that his matches against certain members of Team CRDL were taken down with a few good hits. Namely, Sky and Russell were the biggest targets of said new strikes, and Pyrrha couldn't help but be happy for Jaune to finally get a couple of victories during the class.
She had to admit that when Jaune finally defeated Cardin on a peculiar day in combat class, the bully got his just desserts as the blond effortlessly took him apart, like a parallel to when Cardin took down her leader at the beginning of the semester.
Guess the brothers had a funny sense of humor that day, as Cardin was the one struggling to hit him, and Jaune was the one expecting more from his opponent.
Never let it be said that the gods didn't have a sense of humor... Even if it was cruel.
But it was still pretty funny nonetheless.
The biggest key is to work on quickening his strikes and fixing his footwork to make him more fluid when attacking in rapid succession.
Along with many other kinks to iron out, the rooftop is the perfect place to go, where they come up here for their usual training and sparring practice, and work on some of the things they can't do when curfew comes around and the training rooms are closed.
It was a nice night, with clear skies and no rain, unlike the last couple of weeks. It was a perfect night for some good old exercise, in Pyrrha's opinion. Jaune and Pyrrha had been at it for about an hour, and they were both working up quite a sweat.
Both were feeling a bit winded as the spar kept reaching a fever pitch. But it seemed that the knight was getting tired now as he didn't have much gas left in the tank.
Which meant they were almost at the end of their little sparring session.
The fight continued as Jaune finally stopped thrusting Crocea Mors at her body. This time, he stepped into a particularly forceful shield bash.
Pyrrha countered with her own shield, and as they clashed, both pushed against each other. But the lock was broken quickly as Jaune's body rapidly started spinning, his sword arm out, trying to strike Pyrrha with a made-up move that Jaune liked to call the Spinning Sword Attack.
But Spin Attack would have been a fine name too...
His aura flashed as he infused the rotating blade with a great deal of pure power and speed for the attack. The Mistrialian champion barely had time to block the rapidly spinning sword, gritting her teeth as she withstood the strong assault.
Finally, after a couple of spins, Pyrrha saw her opportunity at just the right moment to stop him completely. His momentum was fading, and as his sword slowly came around, she quickly parried the blade upwards, leaving him vulnerable.
Little did she know that Jaune was ready for her this time, as he was able to get his shield up before her swing, pushing her back and making her hop backward.
Then, Jaune did something shocking to her.
He quickly rushed towards her, leaping into the air, getting above her head.
Her emerald green eyes widened as Jaune thrusted his sword down in a sort of kneeling crouch, putting all of his weight into Crocea Mors at the center point.
Her shock wore off a couple of seconds later. Pyrrha was able to roll away from the strike, and the rooftop rumbled a little thanks to Crocea Mors.
She was already up and ready to strike with Milo, a swipe poised to bite the kneeling blonde. Jaune, with all his strength, pulled his sword out and quickly met her with his family heirloom. Both blades clashed as they parried each other.
Jaune felt his partner's energy as they both looked into each other's eyes.
They nodded, quickly relaxed their posture, and stepped back from each other slowly.
"I think that's enough for today's session, Jaune..." The red-haired girl managed to say as she was breathing a bit hard, but otherwise could still keep going. "You did very well tonight."
Jaune, meanwhile, felt exhausted. The blond was out of breath, despite getting in much better shape since he got here at Beacon. "I could have done better." Looking down on himself, "I made too many risky moves that got me knocked on my rear. I don't know what made me think I had a chance to take you down."
"Jaune its ok that you made mistakes. That's why we spar up here in the first place." Pyrrha said, trying to give encouragement to her leader.
However the J of JNPR just sighed out. "I...I just don't know if I am really catching up to any of you guys with this training. Like... have I really improved if you guys keep getting better? Or is it just more catchup that I have to pull in order to stand with everyone else?"
" Jaune listen to me. Your combat skills have already improved drastically ever since we started training on the rooftops Jaune. Give yourself some credit." Pyrrha walked over towards the upset looking blond. "The amount of catching up you've had to do in the past couple of months to become a better fighter, or Oum forbid even win against other opponents during combat class, it just shows how far you have come during this first semester already." Putting a hand on his shoulder, maybe to calm him down or relax his tense form. "And trust me... as we continue training together, you'll see more improvement."
"I don't know Pyr..." The blond questioned himself.
"Please understand that you have been improving Jaune." The hair haired girl trying to cheer him up more. "I know it seems like a tall task, but the road of training to improve will have its bumps and bruises."
"I couldn't even touch you when we were sparring tonight." Jaune explained. "Who's to say that I'll be able to be match for you, Nora, Ren, or Oum forbid Team RWBY later on during our Huntsmen career. When you have all shown great promise, and I'm just... well... me." Jaune somedays couldn't help this negativity that got to him sometimes.
He had to admit the truth to himself as his expectations were high. Some nights he just couldn't compete against the hoplite girl, other days he get lucky and keep her off balance and surprise her, but majority of the time sparring and competing against Pyrrha he would be outmatched completely.
Well that was mostly every night for him.
But that was besides the point.
Jaune walked away and looking a bit sheepish, a frown marring his face as he looked out into the night sky. "Plus... I don't think I could get to your level Pyr..."
"Don't put that pressure on yourself Jaune..." Pyrrha said. "We are a team for a reason, with our training sessions and you learning moves that I haven't seen you pull off before, like tonight for example with that downwards jump thrust. Attacks that you learned on your own or maybe studied are ones that could put people off guard or stun them from how surprising it was."
"Trust me on this Jaune... You can be a better fighter." Green eyes shining with happiness, looking at her leader with a proud smile. "You will be a better fighter. You are already an excellent leader for us, and with your leadership you have helped us along the way when we have had our little ruts of problems." Prime examples she remembered is some the fights and bickering that Ren and Nora had have.
Sure it was mostly stupid fights that didn't mean too much, but when their words and feelings started to get more serious. Jaune stepped in and stopped the argument with the duo. Then with his great negotiation skills he was able to get the two to settle down and be 'best friends' with each other.
Even though Pyrrha and even her really dense partner saw something more than sparks between the N and R of Team JNPR than just friendship.
"Hehe... You know..." Jaune couldn't help but shake his head as he chuckled. "No matter what I say, you're just gonna keep telling me the opposite aren't you Pyr?"
"I wouldn't just tell you this if it wasn't the truth Jaune, trust me I'm not going to sugar coat your combat progress." Pyrrha said with a firm but friendly tone. "You have been doing an amazing job in our training sessions.
"And If you don't think that's enough then..." Jaune was awed with the resolve in his partner's voice. "I'm going to try my hardest to help you be the best fighter you can be, its the least I could do for you being there for us as our leader." Pyrrha said with a slight reddish blush on her cheeks.
'Even though you've already been there for me from the start.' Her thoughts made her blush intensify on her cheeks, becoming more ruddy on her pale face. Pyrrha's feelings blooming through thoughts, the girl couldn't help but look back on the beginning of initiation and how Jaune didn't know anything about her previous accolades or titles. It made her feel like she wasn't on a pedestal, like she wasn't just some award or trophy accomplishment that everyone admired.
He didn't make her feel like 'Pyrrha the Invincible Girl' or 'Mistral's Red Gem'.
Jaune made her feel like Pyrrha, a girl from the land of Mistral. A person that just loves the feeling of fighting, working out to make her feel fit and healthy, and a slight obsession and secret love with crime novels and plushies.
Even though she had gotten harassed somedays by her fans when playing those claw games in the arcade, she'll never regret obtaining Mr. Tuxedo the Penguin a few years ago. Even if her cover was blown thanks to her mounting frustration if constantly missing him with those stupid grubby claws, it didn't matter how much Lien it took to get him.
He was going to be hers...
Jaune's genuine laughter caused her to come up from her sinking rabbit hole as he went to look back at her with his softening face and his weirdly glowing azure eyes.
"Thank you Pyrrha." His face showed how sincere he was as a small tear was going down his face. "Seriously... I don't know what I would do if you weren't here helping me..."
That comment made her heart skip a beat and a full on blush took its place on her cheeks.
"W-Well w-we should p-probably head back down to our dorm to get some rest for tomorrow." Pyrrha quickly trying to change the subject and turning towards the door to go downstairs.
"That sounds gre-... ACK!" The blond couldn't help but grab his now hurting chest. Groaning from the pain that he was feeling.
"Jaune? Are you coming?" Pyrrha quickly turned to see the knight was still leaning over the balcony and looking out towards the fractured moon in the inky black sky.
Little did Pyrrha know what the knight was going through right now.
His pain felt like a thousand needles were stabbing into him at once, as Jaune couldn't help but feel the familiar dreadful sensation of his 'Semblance' coming alive and trying to say hello early. It felt like a tidal wave of dread was coming from his body in droves and their was no way to stop the feeling when the night comes.
The familiar feeling of his control slipping...
His previous thoughts filled his mind once more, thoughts swirled with anger and frustration as he couldn't really land a decent hit on Pyrrha, being humiliated by the red haired warrior. He could feel his violent instincts slipping from his fingers, like the whispered words of a dark entity was commanding him to follow the horrible command.
'Kill... Exterminate... Feed...'
It was like a mantra in his head, the feeling of wanting to harm something near him. Wanting to feel fresh blood through his fingers and bask in the crimson ichor in a sense of achievement.
Luckily the lad had enough control to reel those terrible thoughts back thanks to his willpower, but he knew that it couldn't be held back for long.
He will have to go back and feast...feast on the dark ones that would keep him sane throughout the night and keep this dark feeling at bay.
This dark feeling that he should never have as the shining beacon of hope that is a Huntsmen, the thoughts of a madman that only cares about the sick joys of killing...
A feeling of bloodlust.
The need to harm something with his sword, or even his bare hands. Jaune could feel his 'semblance' control slipping as nighttime was approaching. He looked at his sword arm to see his hair growing out slightly on his wrist, the color a mix of gold and white.
'It's already starting!' His thoughts were turning desperate as he turned away from Pyrrha, hoping for her not to see him like this. 'No! I have control this now!' Even though he knew Pyrrha was a much capable warrior to defeat him at anytime.
He did NOT want her to see him looking like 'that'.
'Don't do this now! Not in front of her... You don't need her worrying about you anymore than she has to. Come on Jaune... control...control...'
"Jaune? Are you ok?" His partner was now concerned, and Jaune couldn't help but think of the poor timing of it all for her to start caring about his wellbeing.
"Oh... its nothing Pyrrha..." His voice struggling a little to get out his words without growling or snarling. "I'm just... gonna sit out here and think about some personal stuff for a little while..." The blond hoping his red haired partner left soon. " I'll be down in a minute, don't wait up for me." Jaune stressed out that last part with some force.
"W-Well... Ok...I'll see you downstairs." Pyrrha said before going towards the door and opening it to start heading back to the dorm. "Are you sure you don't need any help?"
"Yeah Yeah! I'm positive. See you down there in a bit." He reaffirmed her as she finally closed the metal door and started heading downstairs.
As she started heading back down Pyrrha couldn't help but just feel concerned for him, especially from whatever... that was that just happened to him.
Unfortunately this isn't the first time that he has freaked out, her leader had been acting strange for the past week or so. Though she couldn't really put her finger on what the problem was because of his denial of needing assistance or reassuring her that he was 'just fine'. But the lack of sleep throughout these past couple days and these strange trips to the library for 'studying' seem to be having an effect on him, along with him just not returning to the dorm in the middle of the night.
In fact... if these recent round of sleepless nights continue for her leader, she might ask the assistance of either Ms. Goodwitch or the Headmaster himself to see what was up with Jaune's condition and why he has been doing these 'all nighters' by himself instead of just asking her or his other teammates for help.
Pyrrha knew that Jaune could handle a lot of pressure, especially if it came down to schoolwork.
But for some reason... she just couldn't help but shake the feeling that something more was going on here with her partner than just late night studying.
'I hope he'll be ok...'
Back on the rooftop Jaune's form was gasping for breath as he tried to turn his furry arm back into his regular fleshy skin on his human body. His body felt ice cold as he continued to reject the curse that until he can find suitable monsters to slay.
'That was too close...' Sweat was going down his brow as he tried to gain his bearings. Finally after a couple of seconds the fur receded and disappeared from his arm showing his slightly farmer tanned skin.
'The transformations are starting to get faster and faster.' Sooner or later he would be found out if one of his friends were out late, and catch his 'cursed form'.
"I'm running out of time..." Jaune couldn't help but shutter in fright at the thought of this monster he couldn't control.
Who knew that coming to an academy to slay monsters like the Grimm, that he would start becoming one as well.
It would have been funny to him if it wasn't so damn terrifying.
(Thursday Afternoon, Beacon Library)
The library had a few occupants today, as both parties of the fabled Oobleck essay found a table with a computer screen on it to look up more history info for their project on the internet.
'Thank the gods for the CCTS.' Blake though.
When they got to their seats the duo decided to plan out how they were going to get this down.
Both agreed to split up for info on their subjects. Blake and Jaune agreed to finding different info from different sources. Blake said she would find sources on the web and Jaune agreed to looking for info from the shelves.
"So... what should I be looking for in terms of books?" Jaune asked.
"Search for some history or documentary books that go into specifics of the Faunus Revolution. There should be some about different Faunus historical figures and other freedom fighters, that's what you should look for..." Blake explained as she pointed in the proper direction.
"How will I find them?" He questioned.
"There should be a couple of those kinds of books near the back corner the library. You'll notice the books when you're nearby a shelf with the numerous amount of cookbooks that are in the back right corner of the library." The raven haired girl said. "Meanwhile..." Blake had to pause for a moment to hide her disgust for having look up info on some anti-faunus humans. "I'll be looking into any info on the web for both of our projects at the table here."
"Sounds good." But before he took off, Jaune couldn't help but be a little impressed with the raven haired girl. " You sure know where everything is around here." The blond commented.
"Well... this is where I like to spend my free time reading," She explained. "Usually when I'm not doing school work or when we have class." Blake said as she pulled up the blue screen and started typing up old faunus names that she remembered on the top of her head. "This place has a more calming nature when I need a break from my... teammates." The girl had a little blush on her cheeks from that admission.
Not that she didn't like them, but they can be a little much somedays with their antics.
"That's understandable." Jaune replied. "Sometimes I come here to unwind and read the newest comics when I have a chance for a breather away from my team too." The blond looking towards the silent beauty. "I mean hey trust me when Pyrrha's intense training gets a bit too much for me or Nora being a bit more... Nora-ish than usual. I like to have a little me time with my bros X-Ray and Vav." Jaune chuckled out.
Which Blake only eye rolled playfully as she continued to look for old Faunus biographies to help out his temporary partner. .
Though the cat faunus couldn't help the small smile on her face from Jaune's positive energy. Everyone in their little circle and some of the first years already knew that the knight was a friendly, positive hard worker, and had his awkward moments from time to time when brought up about his choice of... hoodie.
However... his true friends, especially Ruby knows this about the blond, one thing that was always certain about the Arc teen.
He was a dork. Like... A huge dork.
A naive, good natured human that was honorable and upfront with everyone and wanting to help anyone, but a dork regardless.
But that wasn't exactly a bad thing in Blake's opinion. Despite his love for X-Ray and Vav, and all things Pumpkin Pete, he wasn't too obnoxious about his likes.
Unlike some people... Blake couldn't help but think back to her bombastic partner and her obnoxious love for wanting to go to nightclubs and bars, or her young leader's unhealthy obsession with weapons.
The raven haired girl swore that one time Ruby had her weapon in sniper mode and was cradling it like it was her baby...
So... yeah despite that he loved tons of goofy, nerdy things that he talks about, at least he didn't take it to an extreme, which was definitely a positive about the guy.
However... the good praise didn't stop there for the blond when Blake was thinking back.
It seemed like his time here at Beacon really inspired his team to do their best, and hell even Ruby took a page or two from Jaune's way of leading as well. His time as a leader rubbing off and setting an example to everyone around him.
Then there was also his physical attributes and personality.
In her secret opinion that she wouldn't tell anyone the blond had this weird charm to him that she couldn't put her finger on.
Not to mention his muscular gains thanks to Pyrrha's training regime. His workouts in the weight facilities looked brutal somedays as she works on her stamina by running on the treadmill late at night and she was catching the end of his routine.
Blake was definitely shocked that his hoodie was hiding his body this much. Because the knight had definitely gained some muscle thanks to his training. His arms looked more bulky as he shoulders and bicep muscles looked very thick.
While his upper and lower body looked more cut, with his lower abs gaining more definition, and in Blake's honest opinion getting that sexy look that she kind of liked looking at, almost at Sun's abs kind of muscles.
In fact the blond was starting to remind her of the character Satoshi; from one of the sequels of the original Ninja's of Love. The young man in the book was described to have that boyish, handsome charm look with a cut frame to show his hard work. In NOL 2: Second Slash, the young man was part of the rival clan that the main character, Kasumi Kage was against. Their clans clashed with each others in a violent blood feud for years, neither side seeing reason to stop the violence against each other.
But in the story the two found something that could bring the two clans to harmony as they were both high figures of their respected clans.
During their numerous encounters with each other, the duo's feelings changed from combatants, to friends, and eventually to lovers of forbidden romance. As both belonged to the other side.
The cat faunus couldn't see it anyway else but romantic, the forbidden lovers trope was cliche yes, but she had to admit that she was a sucker for cliche's sometimes. Especially when it came to Ninja's of Love.
Blake had to admit that she had kind of crush on Satoshi, how noble the man was when fighting for Kasumi's heart by sparing her, how their ideals clashed in conjecture but in the end understood his lovers plight to unite, and just how he showed his convictions through strength and willpower.
Suddenly her thoughts moved to the blond knight, and Blake couldn't help but match some the traits that one of her favorite characters in NOL towards the blond...
The similarities that made her blush like a fair maiden and hot under the collar.
'Oum no wonder Pyrrha has been a bit thirsty for him. He's a tall glass of water... Hmm just thinking gets me a little parched myself~' A single sinful thought played in her mind. Visions of a dirty fantasy played out in her head.
The tall blond lad laying her down in a Mistralian style temple, the bedroom itself had a nice wooden smell that she couldn't but feel comfortable in.
The young lady Blake was gently put down on the comfortable cloud that was her bed, hovering over her and breath hot against her skin as they mixed together... ready to begin the intense fu-
Before it got any more... naughty she quickly stuffed that lewd stray thought into the back of her mind and locking it away with no hope for release as she refused to acknowledge that she had a some kind of... feelings for the blond knight.
However while the blond teen landed on her... attraction radar as she called it, she had a slight problem with his literature choice.
In her opinion... comics weren't really books. Yes she said it, and the raven haired girl would die on that hill. Sure they had words and dialogue but they could never capture the magic that are novels and book when it comes to telling a good story.
So being a 'connoisseur' in the art of appreciating literature, Blake couldn't resist the temptation of needling at the blonde's love for comics. "Well your little comics are poultry pictures and colors Mr. Jaune Arc. They can never match the good storytelling, wonderful plot, and amazing minds that write the wonders that are novels and books." She said in a snooty tone and a smirk that seemed too cat like. "Why on Remnant do you like them so much?"
"Because... they are fun and enjoyable?"
"Meh..." Blake's snobbish personality was out in force, like a shark in blood infested water. "I could find children's picture books more engaging."
If the blond didn't know any better he would of pointed at that Blake was sounding like a certain snow angel ice queen from Atlas.
However his thoughts were not on Weiss at the moment. Jaune would not take this slander of his favorite reading material lying down! He quickly went to the defense of his precious comic books as quick as any other fan would jump. "Hey! I'll have you know comics can have a good story! Its not just random scribbles. X-Ray and Vav have amazing story lines, and they are entertaining too."
"Hmmph...Could of fooled me." Yellow eyes looking playful and mischievous as she continued to push his buttons. "They look like stale stories that push for a quick cash grab." The deadpan tone pushing a little nerve in the knights demeanor.
Unfortunately Blake was semi correct on that statement. As some of the more recent additions to his favorite series can be seen as 'reboot origin stories'.
But they were still good! At least he and Ruby thought so... Sure the story was sort of messy, but the art work was fantastic.
"Well... what about your books huh? Why do you like reading certain smutty pieces like Ninja's of Love huh? How's that not low quality." There, that should ruffle her feathers for taking a shot at his comics.
It was like a switch flipped in the Belladonna girl because in seconds her smug face turned irritated in seconds.
"Its not smut! Its a romantic-"
"Shhhhhhh!" The librarian of Beacon, Mrs. Geomana, shushed the suddenly loud cat faunus as everyone else in the library looked at the normally calm girl.
Blake was a bit bashful for making a fool out of herself there for a second, but quickly regained her passion. "Its a romantic masterpiece, with plenty of action, suspense, and passionate lovemaking scenes." She hissed out in a softer tone to finish off her explanation.
"You mean parts were they have sex?" He said with an eyebrow raised in question.
"Yes."
"Wouldn't that still be considered smut regardless of the plot though?" Jaune questioned. "I mean... its just some porn with some plot mixed in."
"What is it with everyone calling my favorite book series porn?!" Feeling just really defensive about NOL.
"Maybe because... they have a point and that its true?"
"Oh for the love of..." Blake putting her hand to her face. "Then let me say this. For the last time... It. Is. Not. SMUT!"
Jaune could swear the girl was about to go off like a volcano.
He knew that he was risking it if he teased her one last time, he should just back off and probably apologize.
But... the knight was having too much fun at Blake's expense and plus these explosive reactions were pretty rare from supposed emotionless girl of team RWBY.
'Time for the kill.' If Jaune could see a version of himself in his head the mini Arc would be rubbing his hands together like an evil mastermind, an evil grin plastered on his mug.
"Hmmph... could of fooled me." The blond folded his arms to sell the delivery.
The reaction from the raven haired cat faunus was priceless as she widened her eyes and gasped slightly, putting her hand to her face like she had just been slapped.
Oooooh... so that was how it was gonna be.
The blond realized his mistake as instead of a good natured chuckle or laugh that he expected from their back and forth.
No... instead what he was treated to was something so bizarre, that for someone that was usually serious like the bookworm of his sister team it felt... alien.
He witnessed Blake Belladonna, the resident serious beauty member of Team RWBY.
Pouting... Blake Belladonna was pouting like a cute child.
Let him reiterate, the most serious looking member of Team RWBY, the one that was harder to read of all of those pretty girls, was pouting like a child that got her toy taken away.
Blake Belladonna and pouting was something that the blond would of have never thought possible. He didn't think those two words would have been in the space with each other, it was like seeing a forbidden expression that no one should ever see but yet here he was to bare witness.
Jaune, while feeling a little nervous around the now angry girl. He couldn't help but focus in on those slightly puffed up cheeks and the slightly narrowed eyes that showed that she was mad at him.
But instead of feeling full on fear from the girl, his thoughts could only come up with one word that was on his mind when seeing a pouting Blake Belladonna.
'Cute...' His cheeks couldn't help but heat up as he saw the hidden cat faunus show something that she probably never showed anyone. 'I should of had my scroll out to take a picture of something so... precious...'
"Jaune." However her tone quickly brought him back down to Remnant as it had no playful tone or mirth that he could work with.
"Y-Yeah?" He couldn't help but stutter when she called his name.
"What I want you to do is to get those damn books from the shelf, bring them back over here, and if you don't bring them back to the table in the next five minutes..." He saw the raven haired girl clench her fist super tight, with veins pulsing in through her knuckles. "I'll show you what I have learned from my novels, and trust me on this..."
"It won't be pretty..." Blake finished, staring through his soul with her beautiful golden eyes filled with a hidden outrage that stared into his cerulean soulful orbs.
"R-Right a-a-away p-partner." Without further delay, he quickly made his way towards the corner area.
Finally after Jaune went to do as she said, the girl let out the sigh she had been holding, and looked down at the desk embarrassed from what just took place.
'Why did I just do that in front of him?' Out of all things she could of done. Blake could of continued the argument, bring up facts about her favorite book to prove him wrong, hell scolded him for taking a shot at her NOL.
But of all things... she pouted at him.
Something that she had never really done since her childhood as a little girl. Its funny... Blake could of sworn that she did the same kind of pout when her father took away the first series Ninja's of Love from her little hands.
In hindsight that was actually a smart move on her father's part, because she wasn't too deep into the story yet to get to the... steamy parts. Though seven year old Blake was definitely cross with her papa that day and she let him know.
But honestly... Blake just couldn't help herself. At a young age reading books was her passion, her fun times while being on the sandy beach of Menagerie. If she wasn't playing on the beach when she was growing up, the girl always had a little book in her hands reading away at some fairy tale story.
After that her obsession grew as she continued to get older.
The girl just gravitated towards the library, being in the White Fang didn't really give her many book options when she was working for them. Considering they were constantly on the move with so called 'important' missions for Adam and the cause for the organization.
Luckily before running away from her home, she plucked one of her favorite stories to take with her for entertainment.
Plus when she was young, and growing up on Menagerie, books were pretty scarce on the island when searching for a good read.
They didn't really have much of a library as her people had different goals during the years. Things that her people desperately needed like food, shelter and a way to battle the Grimm to survive.
So... Book options were usually relegated to the couple of book selections from her parent's study when she was a young girl.
'Yet Ninja's of Love was one of those selections.' As Blake recalled that fateful meeting with her favorite book series of all time.
It was like love at first read...
During the current years of her life, especially recently she had become more involved with literature once more now that she had left the organization. Catching up and reading books like her favorite fairy tales once more.
She couldn't help but fell nostalgic as she read classics from her childhood once more. The Girl Who Fell Through the World, The Maiden's Voyage, and The Man with Two Souls were only ones that she was able to find while coming to Beacon.
But her best find was The Rusted Knight Tales, as she couldn't help but fan girl over the main character in that story, she had always had a fascination with the noble man.
Her trip down memory lane was cut short as she remembered that she was supposed to be looking up info for their project, however before she could continue looking up stuff for both Jaune and Blake, she just wanted to scroll through some of the local reports in Vale just in case...
After a couple of minutes of wasted effort, she only sighed out in frustration like she usually did as their was still no report of any robberies or sight of White Fang causing trouble in the city.
Just when she was about to search once more on a different website, she saw the odd sight of a stack of books coming her way, and along with it was her comic book loving partner that she sent away.
"Hey I'm back!" Jaune said as he slammed the tower of books on their table, startling her a little bit. But she quickly closed off of any reports of White Fang related activity to not give any hints that she was still searching.
Didn't want Jaune to report back to her team about her current obsession.
She noticed how thick some of the tomes were. "They got a good mixture about Faunus and Human factions in some of these books." He explained.
"What took you so long?" Blake still feeling a little cross from Jaune talking trash about Ninja's of Love and putting a bit more heat in her voice. "It should of been easy to find the books."
"Well it was easy to find them and they were where you said they were." Jaune explained. "But... I did have to check the authenticity of the books. Had to make sure that they were what we needed for our essay."
"And it took 15 minutes for you to find what we needed?" Which only had Jaune shrug off her question.
"I wanted get a good bunch for us both." Truthfully, while he did check the books it didn't really take too long to make sure that he had what they needed for their project.
No. What he actually did was decide to comb the area for any kind of books that could of helped his control problem. If he was gonna be in the library, might as well continue the search for the supposed 'cure'.
Well after a couple of minutes Jaune found some promising aspects about mythology named 'Legends of Mythos', basically explaining certain myths whether they be certain creatures of fantasy, places and locations that are told in stories and word of mouth instead of facts, and items of mystery that could labeled as sacred artifacts.
While the contents of the book was a bit... questionable.
'Oh what the hell was I thinking? Only a complete crackpot would think anything useful is in that book.' Jaune's thought questioning his sanity about this mythology book.
But while it was longshot, and as crazy as it sounded...
That piece of literature was one of his only leads he had so far that could lead him towards controlling his little problem.
But he focused back towards Blake to see her window on what appeared to be a historian website for faunus freedom fighters.
"Good job Jaune. With this we'll definitely have enough source material to choose from and finish this essay in no time." Blake said with as much energy she could give in her tired state.
Jaune couldn't help but send an equally tired smile her way. "Well... I'm a little stumped on what I should pick for a faunus representative in our essay. Maybe you could... help me out?"
"Perhaps I've got a good recommendation for you." Blake let out a spark of excitement, as she remembered a particular interesting faunus heroine in the war that would be perfect for Jaune's part of the project.
With that said they cracked open a page on one of the large history books and decided to get to work.
(A couple of hours later...)
The tired collective sighs of both Jaune and Blake could be felt as they were nearing the end of the long winded essay. "How much more do you have left to go Jaune?" Blake said as she was flipping through a page of her Werewolf story
The clacking of a keyboard could be heard as Jaune's eyes were glued to the blue screen of the scroll screen typing away. "Just finishing up the closing statement of the faunus part. It shouldn't take too long." The blond said in a tired tone was shown, his fingers felt a little sore from all of the typing he had to do today for their project. The blond looked towards one of the windows and saw the sun starting to get lower as they day was spent to finishing this dual report.
'No much time left... need to hurry.' The speed of his typing increased as he continued his part, Jaune really needed to finish this up and quickly.
Plus... he was just really tired from the school day.
When Blake and Jaune started the paper, they both decided to talk out how to do the introduction with how both races had made their mistakes from underestimating each other thanks to their ignorance's on the battlefield, and how this war was the beginning of understanding each other as a whole.
The easy part of this essay was finding material for the Faunus had plenty of choices for Jaune to choose from, and with Blake's assistance he was quickly able to find two Faunus heroes to put to the paper.
The first one that Jaune found was this rough and tough ram faunus that was definitely more brawn then brains for the faunus side. His name was Arias Hornbuckle, the man had big curvy horns and was built like a brick shit house and had hazel eyes and a bronze like skin tone.
He was as tough as they come as the faunus was a no nonsense team leader of a group of faunus commandos called Shatterpoint Squad. What they did was go behind enemy lines to find the weaknesses of certain Anti-Faunus groups, and once they were able to gather intelligence on their enemy, they quickly end any kind of resistance with extreme prejudice and try to help any of their brothers and sisters that had been captured by the enemy.
One such groups that Arias had dismantled were called The Cullers. These bastards would capture any kind of faunus whether they be fighters or civilians during the war, and enslave fellow faunus to control them and make the race submit, trying to break the will of fellow brothers and sisters of the faunus.
Their sick motto would be called 'Culling the herd' as they would not only enslave the animal people that they captured, but if they resisted or worse tried to fight back they would torture those slaves. The methods were disgusting as they waterboarded, dismembered, and or flat out maimed the supposed 'prisoners of war' to teach them their place. They were then branded with a mark to make sure that they were the ones that disobeyed the Culler's orders. If they continued to resist and fight back, more punishment was administered to the faunus and if taken too far would warrant an execution on them.
Luckily the ram faunus put a stop to groups action with multiple raids on their slave camps, sabotaging supply lines, and finally apprehending the scumbags each and every time.
But while that description of that specific group was atrocious to say the least, it was poultry compared of what Arias's commandos had to destroy later on.
There was a notorious faunus hunting squad named: The Ichor of Animals.
These bastards really chilled both Blake and Jaune's bones when they found out what they did to their victims. It made the Grimm sound like they were normal.
These monsters killed faunus fighters when they were either weak or wounded from the fights and battles they would have previously fought or retreated from, and then once they slaughtered them The Ichor desecrated faunus bodies they had in their possession. Decapitated their heads and left them in their territory all around areas of Anima that they say they held, and in some sick kind of ritual painted their skin with the blood of the fallen Faunus.
While it made the blond knight sick to his stomach to here something that... savage, it made his partner's blood boil in rage for the amount of gall these bastards did to her people back then. The Ichor had notes and scrolls, talking about how 'liberating' it was to feel the iron smelling blood on their skin. Saying that they felt closer to the animal that they killed.
Blake was absolutely furious in hearing that, wanting absolutely burn the book to make sure she could never see those awful words ever again, she wanted to bifurcate those racist pigs if she ever saw one of them as she could only describe them as a plague that needed to be cleansed.
However before some more dark thoughts that made her feel uncomfortable entered her mind, she continued to read and be rest assured that Arias's squad was on the job as they neutralized most of those savages with no mercy. Though the sight of their brothers and sisters stuck with him and his men every time they managed to clear a base full of these psychopaths.
Arias himself was shaken to the core from the atrocities of not only this war, but the fact that human's would stoop this low to kill his people.
Luckily he knew a way to end these two Anti-Faunus groups for good, he had gotten word from one of his faunus scouts that the groups were going to try and band their dwindling numbers together as one super group, so they continued prospering under their shared hate and practices against the animals. The two leaders and their remaining leadership were going to meet in a location called Pouril Forest, a deep underbrush that the humans happen to find in Anima territory.
But the kicker about this that the humans didn't know is... that Arias and the other faunus know first hand about that specific forest, which meant that he and his troops could use that to his advantage to finally corner and cut off the head to these two vile organizations once and for all.
By the time the meeting happened the operation was already finished as Arias and his commandos had used his advanced hearing and strength to utterly crush the leadership of both groups under what appeared to be an 'earthquake', as both camps were swallowed by the ground thanks to the powers of Earth Dust.
Thus explaining to Jaune the story of Arias Hornbuckle, one that the knight would remember for a long time.
The next reference that Blake was actually more happy to pull up is a faunus woman named Intress Fangswitch. More widely known in history called 'Intress the Wild Tigress'.
The woman was a red haired Tiger faunus. With slightly tanned skin, with piercing red eyes and orange tiger ears. Though she was proud of the faunus race that she wanted to be more attune to her animal heritage, thus getting tattoo stripes across her body to show others that she one with her faunus heritage. In a rare sense of nostalgia couldn't help but be reminded of the current leader of the White Fang Sienna Kahn being almost similar looking to Intress.
'She looks like she could be her relative or some kind of family member to Sienna.' Blake thought as she looked at the photos of the young warrior. Looking up more info on the woman was a little bit more scarce as some of the documents on her were strangely... blank in certain parts of the website.
In fact, when Blake and Jaune tried to find more personal info on the female tiger woman they weren't able to see her family history, were she was born, or if she had any living relatives going on today.
"That's... really weird..." Jaune couldn't help but comment what she was thinking, and the cat faunus girl couldn't help but agree with his statement. Usually these history websites wouldn't just redact info like this on historical figures.
"While some of her bio is gone, it's still viable to use here." While Oobleck wouldn't know her full life story, Intress's battle experience have been extensive during the revolution. As she had been in multiple conflicts and had come out victorious as she lead her troops in crushing wins against the humans.
The tiger faunus woman had do battle against the group named The Savage Slayers throughout the Anima Continent. A more focused group of mercenaries that were secretly hired by who were believed to be Atlasian politicians that were pushing towards human superiority, people that Blake couldn't help but want to strangle until they were blue in the face.
The most notable victory against them was the destruction of their Dust supply chain from a known source from a natural landform named Dust Crystal Caverns, Thanks to a secret recon mission she took herself, the tiger woman was able to figure out from some talks from the soldier briefings in the camps that a big plan was bound to happen in the coming months.
This plan from the Savage Slayers higher ups that she heard was called Operation Scorched Earth.
She continued to gather info as she was able to sneak in and peer at some of the documents that they left at their camps at night. Apparently the group was to use the Dust Crystal Caverns in their big plan.
The cavernous system was a natural cave that had not been explored or excavated. Which lead the human party to discover the motherload of all Dust scores.
A cavern chalk full of fire dust crystals, ready to be harvested for fire dust munitions and other weapons that the Slayers planned to use against her people. The second phase of their diabolical plan was to burn the forest area around them so they could flush out her faunus brothers and sisters, leaving them to suffocate from the intense fires or leave them nowhere to hide for their guerilla warfare tactics.
Operation Scorched Earth was planned to happen in a few months time, and as the battles continued to pop up during the conflict of the revolution, the mining material will be given to the more technologically advanced Atlas scientist and mechanics to work on those raw crystals, and in return they are given more fire dust weaponry for their plan.
Well... Intress couldn't just stand by and watch this happen. It was her sworn duty to her fellow faunus that these humans must be stopped today.
While it was shame for what she had to do, the alternative was not an option as she couldn't sit by and let these human bastards have their way with them in this revolution.
So with that said, the woman was able to pilfer and steal some explosives while they were sleeping in the dead of night. Intress was able to use her superior vision in the dark to follow the shift workers and guards towards were the main entrance of the cave was.
She had to be quick on this as anyone of those humans could spot her if they did see her in the mouth of the cave. Intress had luck her side that day as when she planted the explosives on the crystals, not a single soul picked up her trail as she slinked from cluster to cluster putting timed explosives on the pure fire dust.
By the time she was done she set the timer to a couple of minutes and no one was the wiser to her sabotage. The tiger faunus quickly escaped the area as she knew that once those bombs go off in those caverns, there will be big crater nearby the rest of the Slayers that weren't in there caught in the fiery blast.
When time ran out the aftermath was catastrophic, the ground shook violently as the time bombs reacted with the fire dust. The explosion made the tunnel into a raging fire storm, incinerating all of the personnel that the human group sent into the caves.
With the Fire Dust Crystals destroyed and their manpower cut by half thanks to Intress, the Savage Slayers were then hit on all sides a week later by her and her group. Within another week majority of the remaining Savage Slayers were either killed or captured by her platoon.
With Operation Scorched Earth a colossal failure and their only hope, the Savage Slayers went down with the project as it was their undoing for putting all of their faith in that one dust mine. A major triumph was had and Intress was now known throughout history of her people as the heroine that saved her people from a heinous plot to bring the faunus to their knees in the eastern part of Anima.
"Well... I'm finally done typing out my part pf the essay. You should probably look over your section, edit some of the description you put on there."
"Do I really have to?" Blake said in a weak voice, showing her displeasure of the notion.
"I mean it is Oobleck, he will probably be checking everything over like he usually does." Jaune said, knowing how much the green haired man was a stickler for grades.
"Good point..." The raven haired faunus girl huffed, and looked over the human section of the essay, while Jaune switched seats with her.
Blake immediately got to work as the faunus girl started changing some wording and mistakes that she put into the human faction parts at the
Her thoughts pertained only towards the part of her essay that she researched, and couldn't help but feel a more somber kind of anger for these two people he researched as she went into their more personal life.
At first she had nothing but hatred for these two brothers that fought together against the faunus. Jamie and Jerome Foster were the dubbed by the faunus as the 'The Brilliant and The Bruiser'. The twin brothers were actually fraternal twins as Jamie was a skinny, but tall man with chestnut brown haired, a light skin tone, and top it off a rare kind of hazel eyes that were analytical. While the other Foster brother, Jerome was actually pretty stocky with plenty of muscle with his hair a dark coffee colored hair with those same piercing hazel eyes as well, these ones a bit more fierce than his brother.
Honestly Blake didn't like the smug looks they had on their faces at first, she wanted to bad mouths these assholes for going against her people long ago in the revolution. As she felt they didn't have anything better to do with their lives other than to make her people suffer as it looked like they enjoyed being on the battlefield killing faunus.
But as she continued to read them over her mood went from hateful to a more shocked look at the brother's as she read their upbringing in history. It seemed like Jamie and Jerome had it rough in the beginning of their it turns out, the Foster family was broken apart when they were both only six years old. Both their parents, had their lives taken from them in the span of two weeks. The cause? It was from a faunus local they had known for years. The faunus in question was an eagle faunus that was part of rough crowd. The faunus was there to collect some old debt money for their protection against some recent Grimm swarms that had been trying to attack the town.
Unfortunately Jamie and Jerome's father didn't have the Lien at the time, which led the bird man to teach their father a lesson in paying up.
A lesson Blake wish she never read as it reminded her of a certain red haired leader...
The two boys were horrified as their innocent father was beaten within an inch of his life in front of them. Punching and roughing him up, using his bird like claws to slash him up, slamming him into the ground with his more animal strength, the beating was swift as it was brutal as the man was tossed around like a ragdoll.
The man screamed in pain and pleaded with the faunus man to not do anymore damage, but the faunus man was relentless in his attacks, and told the man that if he couldn't pay up and wouldn't take the punishment then someone else would have take the fall as the scumbag was actually thinking of beating his wife and children.
Their mother pleading the man to stop attacking her husband as she knew he was a good man, but the abuse continued. Jamie and Jerome were traumatized that the man they looked up to, the person that they looked for guidance was now reduced to a bloody, broken pile that couldn't defend themselves. Blake actually shed a tear as she read that the children cried in agony when their father was executed right in front of them by the eagle faunus.
While their mother was distraught about her loving husband being killed and with her and her kids life in jeopardy from the man, she did the one thing that she had to do. As the searing red anger took control of the woman as the smug prick now turned his attention towards them.
Unfortunately for him this would be his last night on Remnant as the mother of the two boys had killed the bird faunus by stabbing him in the throat with a kitchen knife, the faunus killer slowly bleeding from his fatal wound as he choked on his own blood
with the threat taken care of she could only hug her boys from the horror's of what the faunus man brought to their family.
But little did she know of the consequences that she now brought to her and her little boys.
The man she had killed was a part of faunus gang that had a bad name around these parts, named the War Hawks. A group of violent, malicious bird faunus that stuck together and were a tight niche group in retrospect. They bullied and assaulted their way in the small town that Jamie and Jerome lived in, threatening others for Lien and food for their protective 'services' against the Grimm or other bad apples that they deemed that were trying to claim their turf.
So when they found out that one of their own was killed by a human tramp of all things... It didn't sit well with them at all that their brother in arms was snuffed out by a human of all things.
So... An example needed to made for the good of the group,
Which is why Jamie and Jerome found their mother, dead when coming home from their local school two weeks later. Her body littered with cuts and bruises, her body gushing on the floor with blood. The brothers could only mourn for her passing as they now only had each other now and could only rely on their bond.
But before they moved their deceased mother from the floor thanks to the authorities, both of them saw a symbol in her blood on the wall. A circle with two dots on the right and left and in the middle was an arm of an griffon with claws out.
The emblem of The War Hawks, a symbol that both brothers recognized immediately as the dreadful reminder gave them horrible memories of what happened to their father.
Now the very same avian bastards took their mother from them!
The two boys that day swore not only to find out whoever did this to their lovely mother, but a promise of vengeance on the entirety of the War Hawks.
Years later when they both finally grew up to the age of 19, they would get their chance.
Jamie and Jerome heard that the Faunus Revolution was happening in the continent of Saunus and saw that the War Hawks were going to join their fellow brothers and sisters in revolution, abandoning the humans and people they swore to protect and joining the faunus cause.
Finally the two would have the chance of vengeance against the bastards that broke their family apart, and they would kill every last one of the them. But their lack of fighting experience and training would make the task difficult.
But that all changed when they finally joined one of Saunus's volunteer military fighting forces.
The brothers joined the group called the Iron Fists, a group of Atlas soldiers that had been kicked out of their country thanks to certain laws that they had broken. Thus they moved towards the Northern part of Vale to establish their personal military forces thanks to the city outlawing the creation of a military establishment. But with those numbers, along with them influencing the population of the continent of Saunus their numbers swelled up to a whopping 200,000 troops in preparation for the coming conflict.
Both brothers had extensive training during their times as troops in the Iron Fists. Out of all of the newer recruits that the military group picked up, the orphaned twins excelled at different crafts that made them stood out. Jamie was amazing at strategic tactics when it came to fighting in the brush forests that more Faunus fighters would probably have more of an advantage in. Another factor that the more intelligent skinny brother had was the technical savvy of tinkering, making prototype weaponry that could effect certain Faunus warriors.
The Soundwave Shocker was one of them, effecting faunus with excellent hearing. The item was a grenade device that lets out a horrible sound frequency that only faunus could hear.
The worst part about the device was that not only would it cause unbearable pain to faunus with good hearing, but listening to the sounds long enough would cause lasting damage and leave troops vulnerable to hearing loss like Tinnitus or even worse losing their equilibrium while in the middle of the warzone.
While Jamie's inventions crippled all types of faunus, which included the sensitive hearing of all types of Avian faunus. Jerome's field leadership skills crushed the remaining fighters threw out on the battlefield as the stocky human was a masterful field commander.
The bulky man knew how to use certain scents to trick and fool faunus that used their sense of smell against them, splitting up squads of faunus by confusing them with different scents that would be human. Only to be ready for those groups with ambushes and snare traps that would corner the fooled troops.
It seemed to Blake that both brothers were tactically smart in different ways.
Jamie was an excellent tactician, better with leading in the shadows and using better technology to disable faunus hearing and Jerome crashed into the others with thundering ambushes and other tricks to confuse the remaining forces.
With what Blake read about them, their moniker was definitely earned. Both brothers were known in the war as the "Decimation Duo" as they dominated the Northern Vale front of the revolution. Crushing the War Hawks in each confrontation, and with not a single group member left alive in each war conflict.
The divisions they ran were veeeerryyy specific in hunting them down.
But the War Hawks were not the only groups the 5th Division of the Iron Fists defeated in combat. The budding group that birthed the idea of the White Fang, dubbed The Crimson Claw were also in conflict with the brother's group. Blake could only shiver as the Claw were literally like the current aggressive White Fang, only they were during a time of turmoil and actual faunus freedom fighting, slightly justifying their more violent tendencies towards the humans.
Of course while the raven haired girl would support her brothers and sisters, conflict like The Faunus Revolution, while they did have a clear objective of fighting off scrutiny, racism, and their literal freedom to choose where they want to live in Remnant. There were always points in the bloody conflict that were morally gray that had the girl question actions of both faunus and humans, how both parties wronged each other in the process of war.
It made her heart ache for both parties, and gave her another reason to push for faunus and human unity and equality, to prevent senseless violence between their shrinking populations against darker threats like the Grimm. The loss of life was always vast when it came to conflicts like this over the ideas of freedom and independence. The causalities the Crimson Claw had taken were immense as they continued to fight on, trying to avenge the fallen company of the War Hawks. Only to suffer major losses against the Iron Fists.
It was only thanks to the eventual peace treaties and cease-fires that saved the skin of the remaining claw members. In which that the humans and faunus side of the war in Northern Saunus finally came to a close. With peace talks in mind the two sides that had been fighting for years finally had rested from the needless bloodshed. While the Faunus community in Northern Saunus were warry of the human population, cooler heads prevailed after years of cooperation.
As for the Foster brother's, while the duo had executed the majority of the War Hawks. The two had decided to put down their arms after killing the culprits that caused their mother's death, after those loose ends were finished they both decided they wanted to live in a more secluded town to live out the rest of their days, some historians say that they do it to get away from any sort of violence, others speculate that the town that they laid the foundation in, Redwater, which was a port town in the Northeast is an anti-faunus faction town as the generation goes by, and that their influence had spread with the port town being a stronghold against the faunus people if they another revolution had begun.
Regardless of that fact, one thing was certain to Blake. Jamie Foster and Jerome Foster were not to be trifled with when it came to warfare as their tactics used faunus enhanced senses against them, teaching her that sometimes relying on one's animal instincts can lead to certain death if not cautious.
After that last bit of editing, Blake decided to save her renewed and checked progress as her hands stopped clacking on the keyboard. "Ok, I think we are nearly done with everything." She said back to Jaune as she couldn't help but stretch her arms above her head and let out a big yawn.
"Great!" Jaune said with as much enthusiasm as he could muster before he followed up his partner with a yawn for himself. "Move over and I'll finish up the edits of the conclusion. Shouldn't take me very long, probably a couple of minutes." He explained to Blake, with a small 'go ahead' gesture he went back to finally finish up their paper for Oobleck.
After a some silence between the two with the only noise being Jaune's typing fingers, the blond sighed a little before turning towards his partner, in which Blake was about to turn the page on her new book. "...Hey Blake."
"Huh?" She raised her eyebrow in curiosity from his more soft tone that he was speaking in, her little bow twitching from how he sounded.
"I... I just want to say I'm sorry for my... you know talking smack about your books and all..." He explained.
"Oh... that..." That was all she could say as she still felt a little peeved about talking about the NOL series like that.
"Its just... my sisters give a bunch of crap about reading comics and I couldn't help but want to defend what I like to read." Jaune said as he continued typing. "I mean... when you have almost seven voices in the house on how 'childish' or 'lame' my comics can be, I get a little... let's just say heated when someone talks smack." He finished as the clacking of the keyboard continued, the light of the library dimming more and more as he continued.
"Especially when they kept trying to convince me to read Ninja's Of Love." Jaune couldn't help but shiver at the memory of Amethyst Arc or 'Amy' as everyone called her in the house kept teasing him about it, taunting him ready his little kiddy books and how reading it will only make him a 'super dork'.
She then actually convinced his little gullible mind that reading Ninja's would help him get a girlfriend later in life if he did read the raunchy piece of literature.
Oh how wrong he was to ever trust one of his older sisters...
When Blake heard that, she couldn't help the frown from that little confession. "Yeah... maybe I came on a little strong about your comics books." The girl admitted, she was being kind of petty about the whole debate.
Sometimes she couldn't help herself when it came to her favorite books.
Jaune couldn't help but shake his head and chuckle at the stupidity of their squabble. "Look at us, two friends trying to be defenders of the people against things like the Grimm. And here we are arguing about books, and what kind of book is better."
Blake couldn't help but have a stupid tired smirk on her face. "I don't know Jaune, they make sit-coms or books about situations like this." The faunus girl said in a good natured tone.
Jaune couldn't help but have good chuckle at the irony that. "What like that show P.A.L.S?"
"Yeah." She wasn't able to watch too much of that show on the scroll sometimes, but whenever she did it was quite entertaining.
"Well I know I'd totally be the most suave of the group. Someone like Joseph is totally up my alley." Jaune couldn't help but pump up his chest.
Blake couldn't help but shake her head. "You would totally be Rob." Saying with a teasing smirk.
"Hey! I'll have you know I have a great Joseph impression." Within seconds he tried to turn on the charm, with a slightly sexy, smoldering look, he turned to Blake and looked at her.
"Hey... How you doin?" Finishing off with a cheesy grin and nodding his head "How was that? Good enough for the part right?" He asked looking at the faunus girl.
Only for the girl to burst out in a uncharacteristic fit of laughter from how ridiculous he looked right there. "Hahaha... oh my sides..." wiping a tear from her eye as for some reason she thought it was one of the funniest things she'd seen from the dorky knight.
"You looked so dumb with that how your face looked." And just with that comment, Jaune deflated like balloon, his smug grin flipped a 180 as he sulked from the put down. "That's why you'd definitely be Rob."
"Ah whatever..." He waved off, causing some giggling from Blake. His sulking went away quickly as he couldn't help but laugh at himself sometimes.
Plus... he made the most stoic of Team RWBY laugh at him. If that isn't a small victory he wouldn't know what was.
Plus... in his honest opinion...
'She has a cute laugh.' He couldn't help that lone thought gravitate before slapping himself for thinking that. Jaune knew that he didn't have a snowball's chance with Weiss, what made him think he could have an attempt at wooing the silent beauty that was Blake.
Meanwhile Blake was actually feeling a bit better compared to her cranky, tired mood just a couple a seconds ago. She had to admit she hadn't really laughed that hard in a long time, in fact its been a pretty long time that she has just felt... comfortable for a couple moments in her life.
Being a former member of a terrorist organization could really bring your mood down sometimes.
"Hehe..." Blake stopped laughing before looking at the knight with a straight face. "Look Jaune... Sorry for a-" But before she could continue, the blond teen held up his hand.
"Water under the bridge Blake." Jaune said back before getting back to editing. "If we keep up the apologizing we'll never stop doing it. Let's just... start over and pretend the fight never happened, that sound good to you?"
Blake couldn't help the small smile that crossed her face. "Yeah... that sounds good to me."
After a couple of more minutes, and with sun almost down for today casting a orange, crimson light to shine through the library the duo were nearly done with today.
Blake's eyes were drooping down constantly, showing how tired she really was. "N-No... don't...can't go to sleep..." Her tone was full of exhaustion as everything started to get a bit fuzzy.
However the faunus girl smacked herself lightly to keep herself up. Blake didn't want to go back to her recurring nightmare, she'd stay up all night if she had to.
"Why don't you just go back to your dorm room and get some sleep, I can finish the rest of this tonight Blake."
"Heh... no way. I'm not leaving you hanging with this essay. Don't want you screwing it up." She lied.
But Jaune only rolled his eyes at that, its not like he wasn't competent doing regular schoolwork. "Well if you feel that way, why don't you just take a nap here and I'll finish up with the essay and wake up so you can check it over."
However Blake only looked over nervously with an embarrassed blush. "I don't think that's a good idea..."
"Why not?" Jaune asked.
The question made her head turn down and give off an embarrassing blush.
"I've...been having... mares."
"Huh?" Jaune could of sworn he heard her say something, but couldn't catch the last word.
"I said I've been having...nightmares." The girl said clearly this time.
"What are they about?"
"Something... personal," She told him softly, the tone giving him enough to not pry any further for the moment. "They've been... happening recently and its really hard to get some sleep." Blake said, the girl scoffed at the whole problem. "You probably think that's pathetic don't you? Almost an adult and still worrying about bad dreams in my life..."
"I don't think that about you."
"I admire your optimism about me Jaune. But please don't patronize me, we both know your just saying that to make me not feel pathetic."
"But I'm not though."
"Jaune plea-" She tried to say, but was cut off by the blond.
"Look Blake, I'm not trying to pity you. Nightmares sometimes happen to people." Jaune explained. "In fact, my twin sister Vermillion was always plagued by them when we were growing up, every time she tried to fall asleep she would almost wake up the whole house from how she suffered."
"So no... I'm not gonna make fun of you for it," Jaune said with sincerity. "In fact I want to help you out if I can with something I brought from home." He reached into his backpack he brought pocket to fish something out.
After a couple of seconds he found what he was looking for, and showed it to the cat faunus.
It looked like some kind of... charm with a circle in the middle, webbing like strings were in the middle to make a complicated floral pattern, almost like a lotus flower. Hanging down below were two silvery feathers with the tips of them changing to a midnight blue and in the middle was the Arc Symbol in a carved light blue stone.
"This is a what we call a Nightmare Napper in our family, or what everyone else calls it... A Dreamcatcher." Jaune gestured. "Back during the Old War, people made these to ward off Grimm spirits that had the power of invading the sleeping forms of children and adults."
"In addition... these are said to stop people from having horrible nightmares or bad dreams when they sleep. At least... that is what my great grandmother Aurtoria Arc told my mother when she was still with us." Jaune muttered as he put the charm into Blake's hand.
"In any case... I'm giving this to you. When my great grandmother give this to my twin Noel, her nights were almost always peaceful." The knight said. "I'm sure if you rest with this nearby, the Dreamcatcher could probably help you from losing sleep from those pesky nightmares."
"Jaune wait I can't take this!" Blake went to shove it back towards him. "This is something sacred from your family, I can't just take this from you."
But he shook his head. "Ah don't worry about it Blake. My great grandma always made plenty of them for me and all of my sisters every Yueltide Day. So I have plenty of them at home." Jaune told her. Honestly he couldn't count how many his great granny Aurt made for him and his sisters.
If he added all of them up he could cover almost half of his room.
"If anything you'd be doing me a favor by taking one off my hands." Jaune said. "And honestly... If I can help out my friends in any way, shape, or form I'll do it."
"B-But we barely know each other Jaune. We've hardly had a big conversation all year and we only hang out because of how close our teams try to be. We are basically strangers."
"Like I said before with Ruby," He turned to look away at the screen to look at the surprised looking Blake Belladonna. "Strangers are just friends you haven't met yet. Sure you might think that we don't know each other that well..."
"But that's not gonna stop me from helping out a friend that needs it, teams be damned." Jaune finished.
Blake only looked at the charm that for a few seconds before finally sighing out in defeat from his heartwarming confession.
"Thanks Jaune... I'll keep it."
"Good because if you didn't I would of taped it to your hand to make sure you keep it." Jaune tried to joke in his own tired state.
Whether it was pure exhaustion or the stupidity of it Blake out a tired chuckle, "Hehe... better keep it close to me then." He eyes drooping once more, this time the faunus girl's exhaustion was too much as her head lulled and her eyes blurred once more.
"Get some rest Blake... I'll take care of the rest here." Jaune said.
"No... wanna...help..."Her consciousness was fading as her head started lean towards the table, her hands making makeshift pillow to lay her head on. "Can't...let...you...down..." With that last word her body started to relax and in a few minutes she was in the realm of dreams.
The blond couldn't help but smile at the now sleeping cat faunus girl. "Sweet dreams Blake, you need your rest..." Jaune whispered as he looked at the cute girl slumber, her soft snoring and her bow twitching slightly made him mentally squeal 'adorable kitten' before turning his attention back towards the screen to finish typing.
Because if he didn't turn his attention back towards the screen Jaune would of tried to pet her 'hidden' feline cat ears, it was definitely a good thing he resisted the urge. Otherwise Blake would of smacked him or kicked his ass, even in her half asleep state.
The blond finally finished up the remaining work of the essay, proofreading and editing any kind of issues that the duo had in the intro and the Faunus part of the assignment. He also had a final look at Blake's part and the conclusion just to make sure, and from what he saw both of their makeup essay looked as good as it was going to get.
"Alright just need to save... annnnd." Clicking the save button to bring the essay to a dramatic close. "Save. Whew... now we are totally finished." The blond letting out a sigh of relief.
"At least that's over..."
'Throb'
"Urrgh!" Jaune grasping his chest as he let out a pained gasp, the lad looked at his arm to see that his wrist and some of his arm started to grow golden fur and he felt his mouth shift a bit as his canine's started to elongate.
'Not now!' His thoughts ran through a panic as he gazed at the maroon sky, the shattered moon starting to make a more clear appearance in from out the open window. His now glowing eyes widened as he realized the gravity of the situation.
'The moon is out!' This was bad, when Remnant's broken moon was out in full and not covered his... condition was beyond control.
Jaune won't be able to hold back the transformation...
He to leave the vicinity immediately before his instincts kick in, so with that said the blond quietly left the sleeping Blake in a haste.
Without care he opened the library door, swinging it wide open before sprinting out into the halls of and rapidly running towards the outside.
In a few seconds he was out in the open of air of Beacon's gardens, the blond panting in panic as he could his body aching in agony as he felt muscle and bone shifting in his back and shoulders, his uniform tearing and ripping off pieces of crimson cloth.
"Need...to get out of here..." Jaune snarled out as his blue eyes shined, his gaze towards the healthy trees of the Emerald Forest.
"Need to...to keep everyone...safe..." Jaune felt his control slip as his jeans started to rip and tear in places, as his bare legs were now full of gold and white fur, his arms now bare to see them full of the same fur. His arms morphed as the muscle and sinew shifted to make his muscles narrow and his fingers sporting long, yellow claws that were as sharp as a blade.
"Need... Need...t-to..." His body continued to change, the top of his uniform in tatters as it continued to fall off his transforming form, the blond was now far away enough to not see the school in the distance as his form was now completely different from what it was moments ago.
The...monster known as Jaune now looked towards the forest and snarled, his previous thoughts gone as the creature stared towards the cursed woods of the deep brush, knowing what he wanted and what his instincts screamed for.
"Need... to feed!" He growled out as he looked at the dark sky, the moon called attention to his azure eyes as his instincts told him to do what he needed.
"AWOOOOOHHHH!" The howl of Jaune's transformed state made his presence known to anything in the forest tonight.
The Beast of Beacon is out for the hunt once again...
(Emerald Forest)
It was the same damn nightmare as Blake continued to run through the forest brush once more, her tormentor hot on her heels.
She couldn't believe this was happening to her again... to be chased by her demons that haunted her thoughts.
"When will you ever learn my love, that as long as I exist... you will never escape." The demonic man continued to chase her down in the woods.
"Stop! Get away from me!" She shouted out in desperation.
The ravenette girl was panicking, feeling the pressure of trying to escape him as her feet pounded on the ground as fast as she could. Nothing changed as she continued to see tree after tree trying to escape. Try as she might Blake could feel Adam's presence behind her back.
"Running only delay's the inevitable Blake!" She heard his voice distort, becoming deeper and more demonic sounding. But the girl didn't bother to answer back as she ran away as fast as she could, zig zagging around to trees to confuse her would be killer.
Blake continued to misdirect Adam, hoping to lose him eventually and find a way lose him for good. She couldn't take much more of this pursuit, it weighed on her mind, spirit and body and at this point she was close to just giving up and accepting her deserved punishment.
But something inside of her... that little spark of hope made her continue to trudge through the dark forest.
It seemed luck was on her side as she apparently lost him in another clearing, thanking whatever deity as she was safe for the time being. But she knew that if she did stay the demon that was her former leader would find him.
So with no time to waste, the girl continued on to another direction to gain some distance from her pursuer.
As she continued moving towards her unknown destination the girl noticed something strange was happening when she looked towards the sky, noticing it wasn't the normal blood red air and dark red clouds.
No, instead the sky looked to be a dark royal blue color, covering the atmosphere around her in a bluish haze. She also noticed a fog roll into the clearing as well.
"What's going here?" Blake looked around and her faunus ears wasn't picking up the moans and screams, just dead silence as nothing but the wind rustled the darken woods near her. The horrible sounds that she continued hearing just vanished, even with her more advanced hearing she didn't hear any kind of noise anymore.
That... was a little unsettling.
"What...is happening right now!?" Blake could only mutter out as the whole environment felt completely different. Even though her current fear was present, for some reason this change to the everything around her didn't sit well with Blake as she continued to look around for something that she thought could pop up.
But alas... nothing came out that she could see.
"There you are..." Blake could only turn around as suddenly, the monstrous form of Adam was right behind her, his clawed hand raise as Blake only had enough time to raise her hands to block. The strike was powerful enough to knock the faunus girl away toward a tree, the faunus girl yelling out in fright as she was sent flying.
Her back met the impact as she cried out in pain, the attack did just enough damage to her body that she couldn't move. Her ember yellow eyes looked in horror as Adam Taurus form was walking slowly upon her.
"Adam...please...stop..." Blake struggled to crawl away from the trunk of the tree, hoping to escape somehow as she was starting to breath too rapidly, almost hyperventilating as she stared down her attacker with pleading eyes.
"No Blake... I won't stop..." The figure quickly caught up to the crawling cat faunus, kicking her and sending her sprawling to the ground. "Not now, not ever..." The monster went towards the downed Blake, picking her up by the neck with one claw, tightening the vulpine hand around her flesh and lifting her up to see his Beowolf like appearance choking her in the process.
However if either was paying attention, they could heard the rapid rustling of the dark blue bush and the sound of some low growling coming out of it, with eyes staring at the monster with hate.
"I am the thing that keeps you up at night, the evil that haunts every dark corner of your mind." Adam told her as he started to put more pressure on Blake's neck, the girl choking to get oxygen in her body.
"I will never rest...and neither will you beloved..." The monstrous Adam brought up his elongated claws, ready to strike a deadly blow to Blake Belladonna.
The defenseless girl could only let out tears as she could only wallow in her own suffering and impending death.
She guessed... her friend's dreamcatcher didn't work after all...
Blake closed her eyes, ready to be consumed by the coming darkness of death.
But... the strike never came...
It all happened so quick as she was suddenly dropped to the ground. Gasping for air as her blurry vision saw another form fighting against her attacker.
The other figure was tearing into the Beowolf, sharp claws ripping Adam to ribbons, growling and biting as for one moment the interloper had her tormenter pinned as he continued the surprising assault.
Finally the figure stabbed Adam in the chest with his deadly appendages, the massive hunched over form seeing the Grimm Beowolf melt away like ink on the grassy ground. Blake now noticed that the large unknown savior was staring in her direction with full red eyes it seemed.
The girl was trying to stay awake, but it seemed that her body wasn't listening as her eyes started to close slowly. Blake noticed the figure slowly and calmly walking towards her prone form, not knowing what to expect from her savior.
She tried to keep her eyes on the person that defeated Adam and rescued her, but the black form was getting more fuzzy as her eyesight dimmed.
"Glad...safe..." Blake was able to hear the broken words from the gruff creature before her vision went black and felt her form sinking like she was in some kind of quicksand.
The faunus girl's body felt cool all over as her form felt like it was sinking into the dark abyss.
Though her thoughts pertain to one thought...
"Who...saved me?" Was her final thought before she lost complete consciousness.
Blake Belladonna's eyes fluttered open from her surprisingly restful slumber, she shook her head as she had a slight headache from her uncomfortable sleeping position on the library desk. Popping her neck and stretching to get the sleep out of her.
After that getting out of her haze, her thoughts suddenly turned to her location and where she was. It seemed that she was at the library, night had definitely fallen as the broken moon of Remnant was up in full in the dark blue sky.
"How long was I out?" Blake said out loud hoping for an answer. "Jaune?" Blake said out, before calling his out loud once again in the empty library.
Nothing but silence as the blond didn't respond, nor did a single soul.
"Where did he go?" She said softly as she suddenly noticed a glowing in one of her hands. She looked in her right hand to see the dreamcatcher that her new friend gave her, the feathers and the Arc symbol glowing bright in a dark indigo color for a few seconds before the charm lost its colorful luster.
'Did... it actually work?' Her gaze lingered on the charm as her thoughts turned to the nightmare that she was having. 'It was a fuzzy... but I think some kind of spirit or something saved me..." She tried to recall, but her the splitting pain of a migraine kept her from thinking about it any further.
Besides she had other questions right now, her dream could wait. The cat faunus girl needed to figure out where her essay partner went off to.
Blake checked around the table to see that his backpack was still here, along with the books in his bag, so he certainly didn't go back to his dorm, she also noticed his scroll in their so that ruled out him going back up to Team JNPR's she checked around the darkened library, thanks to her night vision she could pinpoint if he was sneaking around to find secret hiding spot to read whatever books that he was looking at a couple days ago.
"Oum damnit Jaune, where are you?" Blake continued to see a lack of Jaune from each bookshelf she passed by. "Not like you just disappeared out of thin air." Blake muttered, giving up on trying to search around the whole library. The girl turned towards the exit of the library and decided to take her search outside.
Blake knew that she shouldn't worry about Jaune's sudden absence, it wasn't really any of her problem and personally in her mind maybe she shouldn't get involved.
But she wasn't one of the most stubborn former White Fang supporters for nothing, so with that, she took her scroll just in case and went to look for Jaune Arc in the darkened hallways of Beacon.
The former White Fang member came out looking left and right, trying to see if he was just right outside.
"Ms. Belladonna? What are you doing up this late?"
The black haired girl turned her head towards the right to see the surprised look of one Glynda Goodwitch, the mature woman raising her brow in curiosity from seeing one of her students up this at this hour.
Blake could only sigh in frustration as she now had to discuss deal with the her combat instructor.
'Well... now I have to explain myself...' Blake thought.
Now the teen was wishing she was sleeping again...
And that's a wrap for this chapter.
Wow... that was a lot of words on the screen here now.
So! I know this chapter was more giving some sort of context to some past history that I wanted to explain with the whole essay, and I know it wouldn't really happen in a place like Remnant.
However... just hear me out on this.
I wanted convey that the Faunus Revolution has consequences and conflict during those times in the past. I wanted to make the revolution blood and dark because sometimes when you fight for your rights, freedoms, and wanting to be equals it takes sacrifices to make that happen against the people that oppress you.
So while some of the human depictions here that described were quiet brutal in my opinion... I sometimes believe that their are people out there that would resort to that sort of savagery thanks to the excuses of war times and other conflicts of interest. So The Ichor of Animals, Savage Slayers, and The Cullers were created as anti-faunus groups that wanted to abuse the faunus people in any way. Whether it was slavery, murder, or body mutilation to scar or frighten the enemy.
Now on the flip side... not all parties are innocent when it comes to conflict of revolution or war. Which is why there are groups like the War Hawks and the prototype of the violent White Fang were made into creation. Which shows that sometimes the other side will take things too far as well.
So while it might feel like a cop out writing that, and I know that the Faunus were fighting for their freedom of equality, it doesn't mean it can't be pushed too far in the end.
Regardless of that part, we got into some training with Jaune and Pyrrha, Jaune and Blake had some more convo's, and Blake finally has a special little item thanks to Jaune Arc in the form of a dreamcatcher.
Now we will leave off with Blake on the search for her partner in which... yeah she probably doesn't want to run into him with his little 'problem' present.
Next chapter we will leave off with the chase for the blonde knight, and what Blake will have to find out chasing the young lad.
