Summary

In the ancient breaths of the universe, an era so remote that it predates the very concept of time as we understand it, there thrived a regal figure, a prince whose visions were steeped in the purest of aspirations. His soul ached for a realm untouched by the maladies of anguish and the pervasive rot of depravity. In days long lost to the mists of antiquity, he glided through his dominion, an ethereal expanse teeming with the delicate splendor of endless blossoms. These flowers were not mere botanical creations but symbolic manifestations of hope and joy. Yet, that once vibrant tapestry of life has now deteriorated into a haunting tableau of desolation, ravaged by the relentless tempest of anger and the devouring flames of Greek fire.

He, who once inhaled the nebulous steps of creation to impart vigor to the far reaches of the cosmos, now witnesses the slow, inexorable descent of that same cosmos into a silent, sorrowful slumber, an abyss where dreams are suffocated by the creeping fog of oblivion.

Tragically, this boy was stolen - ruthlessly ripped away from the warmth of dreams that he so lovingly wove. He was severed from the sacred fellowship of his kin, the eternal and omnipotent Primordial Gods, beings of unfathomable power and wisdom who forged the stars and kindled the first sparks of life. More heartrendingly, he was torn from the nurturing embrace of his mother, the Architect of the Universe, Lady Chaos.

Behold the poignant odyssey of Perseus: The Prince of the Cosmos, the final harbinger of the primordial essence, the Last Protogenos.

Chapter 1: Creation

In the vast expanse of the cosmos, where swirling nebulae and endless voids danced to an ancient rhythm, there existed a deity like no other - Lady Chaos, the Goddess of Creation, the first Protogenos. She embodied all that was formless and boundless, the origin of all existence, and the mother of the cosmos itself.

She mingled with the endless abyss for eons, constructing celestial wonders before siring the first race of immortal deities, born in her own image—the Protogenos. With a mere thought, she scattered cosmic dust across the skies of the abyss, creating vast clouds that coalesced into brilliant twinkles of entities. She delighted in their fiery births and the stellar dances they performed across the cosmic stage, awaiting to take consciousness.

First came Phanes, the firstborn of Chaos. The Protogenos developed very slowly; every epoch, every million years, was equivalent to what would later be seen as a single year of growth for most mortal beings. Chaos designed her children this way because they were brimming with untold power—power that needed to be adapted at a pace that would teach them responsibility. As such, when Phanes came of age, a mere ten million years old, Chaos bestowed upon him the domain of creation to celebrate her firstborn. For ten million years, Chaos and Phanes had been alone, gazing upon the flames of the forming gods, creating and collaborating.

Not long after, the spiraling lights throughout the galaxies descended the next line of Protogenos: Gaea, Tartarus, Ananke, Chronos, Erebus, and Nyx. Like how Chaos treated Phanes, she guided the newly birthed Protogenos through their jumbling youths until they had grown mature enough to receive their domains. For Gaea, the Earth, a foundation for all, a planet of the symphony of life.

For Tartarus, the Underworld, the depths of the Earth, a kingdom where justice was brought to all who would harm his sister Gaea.

For Nyx, the Mist, the beauty of the night, a realm that reflected all of Chaos's gorgeous creations.

For Erebus, the Darkness, the overarching ends of the world, a plane of calm and tranquility.

For Ananke, the Order, the fate of all creation, the inevitable influence throughout the universe.

And for Chronos, the Time, the eternity of all creation, weaving the very fabric of the universe to craft the past, present, and future.

As millennia passed, Chaos and her offspring lived for paradise, occasionally coming together to guide the last tendrils of the cosmic lights to birth the remaining Protogenos. Pontus, Hemera, Ouranos, and Thalassa. With the last glimmer of Chaos's divine streaks and the birth of the next line of Protogenos, it marked the end of the Eon of Chaos. No longer was there simply nothingness; no longer was Chaos alone drifting throughout the abyssal voids with only her inspiration of creation. She now had her children - the Protogenos.

Thus came the beginning of the Cosmos.

"Nyx! Nyx!" A sharp whisper pierced the air, knocking the Goddess of the Night out of her trance-like state.

Her swirling black eyes had small stars that were jeweled around her irises. Sitting under the comfort of the shade of a tree, she was laid back against the trunk as she had been marveling at the sun setting into Earth's horizon. Letting out an irritated groan, the young goddess furrowed her eyebrows and glared at the person who cried her name, tiny comets falling from her pupils. "What do you inquire, Erebus?" She pressed, rolling her eyes at the man.

His dark charcoal hair fell to his shoulders, which had bothered Nyx since she had voiced that she thought long hair was charming. This, of course, was in retrospect to her own hair, but Erebus's clear infatuation with her seemed to have blinded him.

Nyx had known her nightly consort for almost fifteen million years since his birth, and for whatever reason, he still behaved like an infant at times. She still cursed herself for letting him help in the creation of her daughter Hemera, but Chaos had cheerily rejoiced at the thought of Erebus helping his older sister, and Nyx, being a mommy's girl, couldn't afford to stamper out her mother's joy.

"Did you hear, Nyx? According to Ananke, Mother has plans to sculpt a new Protogenos from the raw essence of creation." Erebus spoke softly, almost like he was under the impression that what he was saying was a secret.

Nyx's raven-black hair shimmered under the darkness as she turned to Erebus, whose form seemed to merge seamlessly with the surrounding shadows. " I do not know," She started, not caring to entice her twin of twilight with rumor, "But I do feel the stir of the cosmos; something is shifting."

"Yes, well, Ananke said it's Chaos molding a new deity and-" Before they could delve deeper into their musings, a serene presence approached. Gaea, the Earth Mother, emerged gracefully, her aura resonating with ancient wisdom and tranquility. Her presence held the timeless wisdom of the Earth itself.

Gaea's deep brown eyes, flecked with green and gold, seemed to shimmer with the wisdom of countless ages. Like a gentle breeze through a forest, her touch caressed the bark of the mighty oak tree nearby. Her hair flowed like cascading rivers, a lush green that harmonized with her light caramel skin, embodying the very essence of nature's beauty. As Gaea interrupted Erebus's words, he let out a small yelp of surprise. Her arrival was as soothing as the earthy scent after a cleansing rain. Disconcerted by the interruption, Erebus gazed at his sister with a mix of astonishment and respect.

"Nyxy!" A voice filled with joy and innocence giggled from behind Gaea before a delightful force tumbled onto Nyx's lap. Thalassa, Gaea's daughter, had jumped onto her aunt's lap with boundless enthusiasm.

Nyx couldn't help but smile softly at the exuberant Thalassa, her starlit eyes glowing affectionately.

"Thalassa!" Beside Gaea, a young boy, Pontus, held onto one of the Earth Mother's hands. He possessed an air of responsibility and scolded Thalassa with an earnest tone. "You cannot attack Lady Nyx and startle her like that," Pontus chided his younger sibling.

"Ignore Pontus, Nyxy," Thalassa chimed in, her youthful innocence shining brightly. "He is simply jealous that I have you all to mineself!"

"I am not!" Pontus exclaimed, offended, though his indignation held a hint of playfulness.

Nyx chuckled warmly at the endearing bickering between the siblings. Their dynamic reminded her of earlier times when all her siblings were growing up together. Back then, it was Gaea and Tartarus who used to engage in such spirited arguments, and it was often Phanes who had to clean up after their lively disputes.

She turned her attention back to Gaea, who was standing with a serene grace that mirrored her connection to the natural world. She inquired about the destination of their upcoming adventure. "Where are you taking them, dear sister?" Nyx asked, her curiosity piqued.

Gaea's gaze shifted toward Nyx before she pointed toward the distant horizon. "We shall journey to the seas. Thalassa and Pontus have been pleading for this voyage ever since Phanes regaled them with stories of tides and the creation of a world born from the pure ocean."

The mention of the sea ignited Thalassa's excitement, and even Pontus, who typically adhered to a more rigid demeanor, perked up with anticipation. "Can we go now, Mother?" Thalassa pleaded, her youthful enthusiasm shining brightly.

"Please, Mother Gaea," Pontus added, his earlier scolding forgotten in the excitement of the impending adventure.

Gaea, the epitome of patience and understanding, couldn't help but smile warmly at her children's eager anticipation. "Very well, my darlings. We shall visit the seas. But remember what Chaos has been teaching you—patience is a virtue."

Erebus, who had been listening attentively, voiced a question with newfound urgency. "And what of the godling, Gaea?" His voice carried a weight that transcended his usual soft-spoken nature.

Erebus's inquiry hung in the air, a question laden with curiosity and anticipation. Gaea's eyes, deep pools of wisdom and maternal warmth, shifted toward Erebus, acknowledging his inquiry with a gentle nod. "Ah, the godling. Indeed, we must not forget the new Protogenos that Chaos is forming. I'm certain this being of power and potential shall play a pivotal role in the grand tapestry of the cosmos."

Nyx's starlit eyes, reflecting the infinite depths of the night sky, leaned forward, her curiosity piqued. "But why? The Eon of Chaos is no more; I do not understand why she births another Protogenos."

Gaea's response carried the weight of profound knowledge, and her voice resonated with the soothing cadence of the Earth itself. "Chaos's designs are as unpredictable as her nature. In time, we shall witness the emergence of their purpose and influence in the age of the cosmos."

Erebus, his twilight form subtly shifting as if the shadows themselves whispered secrets, leaned in further, his inquisitive nature driving him to seek more understanding. "And what role shall this new deity assume within the cosmic order, Gaea?"

Gaea considered Erebus's question, her gaze wandering to the distant horizon where the sea met the sky as if seeking inspiration from the vastness of creation itself. "Like all of us, the nature of their role is yet to be fully comprehended, brother. But rest assured, they will bear the essence of Chaos's limitless creativity."

Thalassa and Pontus, ever attentive to the conversation unfolding among their elders, shifted their focus from their upcoming adventure to the enigmatic topic of the new deity.

"What shall we call this new sibling, Mother Gaea?" Thalassa asked, her eyes gleaming with childlike wonder.

Pontus, who had momentarily set aside his playful dispute with Thalassa, added, "And what will their domain be? I'm fine with it being anything besides the seas; I want the seas."

"Hey, no fair! I want the seas!" Thalassa whined at her brother.

With her maternal grace, Gaea knelt down to their level, her touch like the caress of a gentle breeze. She looked into their eyes, filled with youth's innocence and boundless potential. "The name of our new kin and the wonders they shall bestow upon the cosmos will be unveiled in due time, my darlings," Gaea said, her voice soothing as a flowing stream. "Chaos is the weaver of the cosmic tapestry, and we must trust in her ultimate knowledge."

As the conversation fell beneath the sprawling night sky, Gaea slowly walked toward the horizon with her two children in tow. "Lady Chaos is in her palace atop that mountain that grasps the heavens if you'd like to visit her," Gaea called out as she pointed toward a distant mountain.

Nyx and Erebus waved at the small fleeting family, watching as Gaea, Thalassa, and Pontus descended the hill and disappeared into the night; their thoughts lingered on the forthcoming visit to Chaos's palace atop the mountain. The prospect of witnessing the birth of a new Protogenos, a being of unbridled cosmic potential, left them elated. Erebus was only two million years old, and Nyx only three million when they watched Chronos and Ananke's ascension. Nyx's starry eyes shimmered with curiosity, and she turned to Erebus with a knowing smile. "Shall we make our way to the mountain, dear brother? It has been millennia since we visited Lady Chaos in her celestial abode."

"Indeed, Nyx. I am eager to witness the shaping of this new deity, " Erebus's shadowy figure pulsed as he nodded in agreement.

With a shared understanding, Nyx and Erebus burst into a streak of obsidian smoke, their celestial forms taking on an ethereal quality as they prepared to ascend the night sky. The stars above glistened with anticipation, casting a soft, guiding light upon their path. Together, they soared upward, leaving behind the tranquil hill where they had conversed with Gaea and her children. The ascent was effortless, for they were the embodiment of the night and twilight, and the celestial realm was their dominion.

As they drew closer to the towering mountain, its peak lost in the veils of darkness, a sense of reverence washed over them. This was the domain of Lady Chaos, the eternal muse of creation, where the boundaries between reality and imagination blurred. Finally, they reached the summit, where Chaos's divine palace stood, a shimmering bastion of cosmic energy. Its architecture defied conventional understanding, a testament to the chaotic nature of its inhabitants. The palace seemed to be in a perpetual state of transformation, reflecting the ever-evolving essence of Chaos herself.

Nyx and Erebus alighted gracefully at the entrance of the celestial palace, their forms merging seamlessly with the ever-shifting shadows that danced across its enigmatic exterior. As they ventured further into the palace, the grand entrance seemed to open itself to them as if the very architecture recognized their presence. Inside, they were met with a scene that left them astonished. The chamber they entered was a breathtaking spectacle of swirling colors, ethereal music, and an overwhelming sense of anticipation. Lady Chaos herself had taken on the form of a young adult woman, a stark departure from her usual formless essence. She floated at the center of the chamber, her presence a mesmerizing whirlwind of energies.

Yet, to their surprise, they were not alone in this momentous gathering. Standing alongside Chaos were two unexpected figures: Ananke, the ancient goddess of inevitability, and Tartarus, the primeval abyss. Nyx and Erebus exchanged a glance filled with intrigue and curiosity as they realized the significance of their unexpected company.

Chaos turned her attention to Nyx and Erebus, her presence an ever-changing dance of colors and shapes. "Welcome, my beloved children of the night and dark," she greeted them in an echoey voice that resonated with the universe itself. "It has been so long, come, come!"

As Chaos extended her ethereal hand in a graceful gesture, Nyx and Erebus couldn't help but be drawn further into the mesmerizing chamber. The swirling colors and otherworldly music seemed to embrace them, weaving around their celestial forms and pulling them closer to the heart of this cosmic spectacle. "Tartarus," Nyx greeted, bowing her head slightly at her old brother.

Tartarus released a hearty and thunderous laugh in response, reverberating through the chamber. Unlike his younger sister Nyx, his towering presence left no room for formality.

"Sister! How glad I am to see you!" Tartarus boomed, his voice filled with genuine affection. He playfully scanned the surroundings with a mischievous glint in his eye, "Where is your secret admirer, Erebus?" He teased as he couldn't resist poking fun at Erebus's smaller stature.

Ever reserved and composed, Erebus responded with a quiet yet pointed remark as he walked past Tartarus. "Imbecile," he muttered under his breath, his words laced with mild annoyance.

Sensing the playful banter between her siblings, Nyx intervened with a sigh, her voice holding a note of exasperated fondness. "Cease, Tartarus. Erebus is finally in a good mood for the first time in years," she remarked, offering a gentle reprimand.

Tartarus chuckled heartily at Nyx's words, his laughter echoing through the chamber once more. Despite their differences, the ancient siblings shared a unique bond of darkness that their other siblings did not. "Where might we find Chronos and Phanes?" Nyx inquired, her curiosity tinged with a hint of concern.

Ananke, ever concise and to the point, replied, "They are attending to the duties concerning Ouranos and Hemera."

As Nyx nodded, it became evident that Erebus couldn't contain his curiosity any longer. With a respectful nod to Chaos, he posed the question that had brought them all together. "So, Mother," Erebus inquired, his voice a whisper of shadow, "I have overheard rumors of the birth of a new Protogenos. Is this true?"

Like galaxies churning in a cosmic sea, Chaos's eyes twinkled with an impish glimmer, and a small, enigmatic smile graced her ever-changing features. She glanced briefly toward Ananke, who looked down sheepishly, acknowledging that she had inadvertently let the information slip.

"Yes, my dear children," Chaos confirmed, her voice a soothing melody that resonated with the creative forces of the universe. "Word of this event has indeed traveled through the cosmos like a god of speed. A new Protogenos is on the horizon, and its birth shall mark the dawn of a new era."

Nyx and Erebus, standing before Chaos, absorbed her words with a sense of profound significance. The birth of a new Protogenos, a being of primordial power and cosmic potential, promised to shape the universe's destiny in ways they could only begin to fathom. As the weight of the revelation settled upon them, Tartarus's deep voice echoed through the chamber as he inquired, "When will this birth take place?"

"Now," she declared, her voice carrying no hesitation.

With an otherworldly grace that only Lady Chaos possessed, she embarked on her divine work, a process of creation that transcended mortal understanding. As she stood amidst the celestial splendor of her chamber, she reached deep into the unfathomable depths of the cosmos, calling forth ancient and elemental forces that resided within the void itself.

The energies she summoned were nothing short of cosmic wonders:

Aether, the essence of the celestial heavens.

Soul, the ethereal embodiment of consciousness.

Space, the limitless expanse where galaxies danced.

Radiant, the luminous brilliance that illuminated the cosmos.

Astral, the mysterious realm that connected all celestial beings.

These cosmic forces swirled around her in a mesmerizing dance, forming a breathtaking tableau of celestial elements that defied comprehension. With meticulous precision and an artist's eye for detail, Lady Chaos began to weave these ethereal threads together. Her hands moved with divine elegance, and as she worked, a cosmic tapestry emerged before her. It was a masterpiece of creation, a canvas upon which the destinies of galaxies and worlds would be painted. The celestial energies blended and intertwined, their luminous hues and undulating patterns resembling the very essence of creation itself.

From the heart of this celestial masterpiece, Chaos began to sculpt the essence of the new Protogenos. Her fingers moved with the grace of a cosmic sculptor, shaping the being who would wield the powers of both creation and destruction. This Protogenos was destined to be a force capable of molding the universe according to its own divine design, a harbinger of cosmic change and renewal. Nyx couldn't contain a quiet gasp of shock as she witnessed Chaos's unparalleled artistry. "Di Immortales!" It was different, an entirely new approach compared to how Lady Chaos had birthed the first line of Protogenos; the magnitude of the moment hung heavy in the chamber as the cosmic symphony played out before them.

Chaos's hands came together closely, her palms facing upward, radiating a sharp, blinding white glow that shamed even the brightest star. With a gesture that mirrored the artistry of a celestial symphony, Chaos breathed life into her creation. The chamber itself seemed to hold its breath in reverent anticipation, and the very fabric of reality quivered as the essence of the new Protogenos stirred and awakened. It was infused with the boundless creativity and cosmic energy of its divine maker, a moment when the entire universe seemed to pause in acknowledgment of the birth of a being destined to shape its fate in profound and unforeseen ways.

The blazing lights that had flowed from the Mother of the Universe gradually faded, revealing a small bundle of silk cloth enveloping the newly formed Protogenos. It was a symbol of the beginning.

In a blink, flashes of celestial light erupted within the chamber, heralding the arrival of the remaining Protogenos. A mix of confusion and awe marked their appearances as they beheld the newly created entity. Gaea, Phanes, and Chronos took the initial steps forward, their curiosity driving them closer to witness this momentous birth. The other cosmic deities, Hemera, Thalassa, Pontus, and Ouranos, stood together, their gazes fixed upon the unfolding scene.

Phanes, the eternal firstborn, marveled at the sight before him. "So it is true," he whispered in wonder, "A new Protogenos."

Gaea and Chronos, ancient and wise, exchanged meaningful glances before joining Phanes to get a closer look at the newly formed being. "Yes," Lady Chaos confirmed, her voice carrying the weight of her evident exhaustion. The chamber seemed to resonate with the significance of this revelation, as the Protogenos bore witness to the emergence of Chaos's youngest son.

"He is Perseus, the Prince of the Cosmos, the Last Protogenos."

Hi! This is the most recent work that I've been publishing on Wattpad. It is currently in development. A few things may be different from what I am posting here, such as, unlike Wattpad, it does not allow me to insert images that I generated that many of my other readers enjoy! If you'd like to have the full experience for this story, I recommend reading on Wattpad, as I will definitely be publishing there first and foremost!

Pairing is undecided since I literally wrote this in a few hours. But I have a relative plot model I'm following that I've personally never seen done, so hopefully, you all enjoy it! Don't worry; all your favorite characters (should) make an appearance eventually. And because of my bad habit of only writing every six months, I hope this story will keep me on my feet to break that trend.

Please feel free to offer suggestions, reviews, or something you might want to see down the line; I always check the feedback!
