We're about to head into the main climax folks! It will still last a good few chapters more. Every time I think I have just a few more to write they wind up becoming two or three each. It's fine though there's still a lot to resolve. That being said, things will be getting darker from here on out.

Also there will be a brief mention of French history in this chapter. I wanted to include a full history of France and the French revolution but while trying to research it I realized, while very interesting, would be a lot of unnecessary information for the fic. So it's a pretty basic bare bones version of events.

And as much as I'd LOVE to visit the Louvre Museum someday I've never been so I don't know the exact layout or all the exhibitions. So sorry if anything is incorrect.

Chapter 26

Storming the Palace

When the rocks started their invasion again Ladybug was prepared. She quickly gathered the other Miraculous holder and instructed them to help save as many people as they could. She needed to get Varian to the Moonstone in the Museum.

Luckily Varian and his alternates came as soon as the rocks started moving again.

"Ladybug, I don't know what's going on but the rocks seem to have a mind of their own." Varian said as Vari nodded.

"Yeah they just tried to kill me and Vee." Ladybug's eyes widened.

"You mean deliberately?" Vee concurred.

"Yeah me and Vari were targeted directly. Luckily Varian had enough control to stop them." She turned back to the newly moon powered boy.

"Does that mean you have enough control to get us into the Museum?"

"Well, I'm better at making the rocks go away than using them so I'd say yes."

"Then we can wait no longer." King Edmund said with the brotherhood and the Corona crew behind him. "One way or another the Moonstone will be retrieved and we'll be returning to our world." Chat Noir looked up.

"Wait, if Varian can give the power of the Moonstone back then can't he stay here if he wanted?" That's what he thought the plan was but Edmund sighed.

"We don't know how this will play out but if there is even a sliver of power remaining in Varian then we can not allow him to remain here. The Moonstone will always be searching for its missing piece."

The realization hit them hard. Adrien wanted to argue with him and Ladybug didn't think it was fair but Varian knew. He knew this was a possibility the moment he learned he held a part of the Moonstone within him. He wanted to stay, stay with his brother and friends, maybe even try to reform Gabriel but he couldn't. Not if him just being here was causing so much destruction because a power greater than them refused to let him go.

"If…if it's for the best." Chat Noir looked at him sadly.

"But-"

"Hey maybe this will all work out and I can stay after all." He wanted to believe that but his gut was telling him differently. "Let us take care of the Moonstone. You need as many people out there saving people as you can."

So it was decided. Varian, the Brotherhood and the Corona crew would enter the museum and try to remove the Moonstone. The Miraculous holders and the other Varians would help protect the people. While not as bad as the initial invasion it was still dangerous and they needed to act fast.

In an almost coordinated move all three Varians transformed into their alternate forms.

The Corona crew stared at Varian. It was the first time seeing him in this new form but it reminded them of the outfit he wore when they first met him, the same one he wore when he attacked the castle. But they would just have to deal, he was stronger in this form and knew he'd need the edge.

Varian bid goodbye to Chat Noir telling him they'd meet up afterwards. He left reluctantly getting a bad feeling about all of this. He then turned to Luka who was keeping an eye on Amber. He saw the snake bracelet on his wrist and knew no amount of talking would keep his friend from trying to help. Even so he felt he had to say something.

"I'm not going to try and talk you out of helping but please, don't over do it. I'm going to be really mad at you if you end up right back in the hospital again." Luka laughed but had a serious expression on his face.

"The same goes for you. Be careful in there, OK." They gave each other a quick hug before Luka had to rush off.

As Varian made his way back to the group he noticed Vari talking to Ladybug about something. Vee must have already left.

"Ok I'll take the west side." Vari glanced back at Varian and the group before heading off himself. Ladybug wasn't there much longer simply instructing them where to meet back up after their mission.

And now he was alone with a group of former friends who were tolerating him for the moment and a set of relatives who would likely be trying to decide his future for him once this was all settled. Oh joy.

They made their way to the Museum's entrance that was blocked by a large black rock. It was bigger than the rocks Varian had been practicing on and maybe a little intimidating but he wasn't going to let that stop him. He grunted as he willed the giant rock to recede and slowly bit by bit the door was revealed to them.

He was thankful he was transformed at the time, that was a bit draining. He didn't want to be seen as weak in this group, especially around Cassandra. Speaking of which, he didn't see her when the group first entered the building. It was a little hard to see with the power out and just the emergency lights to guide them. Eugene noticed too.

"Hey where's the Ice Queen?"

"I'm right here!" she shouted back, entering after them. "I was double checking the perimeter."

"From what?" They argued back and forth like usual but Varian noticed she slipped something into her pocket trying to be discreet. He didn't say anything but after hearing she was the one who stole the Moonstone in Vari's timeline he was definitely going to be keeping an eye on her.

Of all the modern things for them to get freaked out on, Varian didn't think it would be a flash light. Rapunzel thought he somehow caught lightning bugs and put them into a lantern. Hector thought it was from luminous plants or rocks, something Varian often did use in lieu of a flame. Eugene thought it was magic from his Miraculous. He tried explaining electricity and batteries, since he had used a primitive form back in Corona. His enthusiasm died pretty quickly while they made their way through the Museum since it was clear he was losing his audience.

The group decided to make their way to where Adrien's class had seen the Moon rock carving. Varian hadn't associated his headache with the art piece at the time but now he realized that must have been what triggered them. Even though it was still dark inside the building there was enough light for the group to see the scores of gorgeous paintings and art pieces on display. Rapunzel turned to Varian.

"I never really got a chance to investigate but what's Corona like now? How has it changed in 200 years." Varian paused thinking how best to phrase it.

"Well you see, Corona doesn't exist here. It never has." Eugene paused from trying to steer Lance away from some of the more pocketable items on display.

"Wait never?" He nodded.

"Not just Corona. The Dark Kingdom's geography exists where Russia currently is today but there's no history of either one existing at all." Lance looked up while the Brotherhood looked at each other concerned.

"So…this isn't the future?"

"It's a different world that happens to be in the future but it's not the same one." Rapunzel looked saddened.

"That's a shame. I was hoping to see a piece of home somewhere in this new world." Varian couldn't help but smirk.

"As it so happens your story was made into a fairy tale here." Her eyes lit up.

"Really!"

"Yep, everyone knows the name Rapunzel here. I'll see about showing you the story after we're done here." She was still smiling but then she noticed Varian looked a little too eager to share this with her.

"This is a trick isn't it."

"Of course not. The story really does exist here." but the smirk never left his face.

"I'm going to hate it, aren't I?" He said nothing and opened his museum map.

After reviewing the map and double checking to make sure they were going Eugene broke the silence.

"So I'm confused." Eugene stated while Cassandra snorted.

"There's a surprise." He just rolled his eyes.

"What I mean is why does this museum look so much like a palace? And where is the real palace in France? It's hard to imagine it's bigger than this?" They happened to be passing a row of pictures listing some of France's past royalty.

"The Louvre used to be a palace but France doesn't have a monarchy any more." Varian stated, leaving some of them confused.

"Who's in charge then?" asked Cassandra looking at the last two paintings on the wall. A king and a Queen.

"The people vote and elect their leaders," he said with a shrug. "The last King and Queen were King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette." He said pointing to their pictures at the end of the row.

"Oh, she's pretty." Rapunzel commented after seeing Marie Antoinette's painting. "Was she nice?" Varian laughed out loud.

"When her people were literally starving she was throwing lavish parties for the rich. There was a long list of charges the people of France charged both of them with and in the end they were tried and executed by beheading, ending the monarchy of France. After that was the French Revolution." The entire group looked shocked while Rapunzel was subconsciously rubbing her neck. Cassandra was especially appalled.

"How did they get away with that, that's treason.' Varian smirked.

"Treason against their own people was their biggest crime." He said calmly, continuing his way to the moon rock display.

"No wonder he likes this place so much." Cassandra mumbled under her breath. Edmund did find this disturbing but not in the same way as Cassandra.

"Rulers are human and are just as capable of making mistakes as everyone else but their first duty should be towards their people." Rapunzel looked back at him with interest. "When it was no longer safe to live in the Dark Kingdom I had to send my people away with a heavy heart. I knew they were reluctant but it wouldn't have been long before the land was unsalvageable. Best to give them a chance at a better life then let them starve. I only wish I could have protected them more."

He looked at Eugene when he said this. The lost prince had a lot of conflicting emotions stirring up inside him when it came to his Dad. His youth longing for someone to come and claim him as their own to his teen years resentful for having been abandoned with nothing. Finally his adult years determined to leave the past behind and live his life the best way he could.

Now his Dad was back in his life he didn't know where he fit. Would his Dad really want him in his life if he knew the kind of person that he was. This whole thing with Varian was making him face some ugly parts of himself he wasn't ready to deal with. Eugene decided to leave this topic on the back burner for the time being. Best to get to the Moonstone before something else happens.

Rapunzel cast one last look at the last King and Queen of France. "A kingdom ruled by the people." she muttered quietly to herself pondering how that would work. Vee had said the Americas elected their leaders as well. Maybe this is something she should look into.

"There!" Varian exclaimed as he slowly approached the display flanked by the Brotherhood. The display was broken with what looked like a stray rock but something was wrong. "I…I can't feel anything." He knew the real Moonstone had to be here; he felt it as soon as they approached the building but this piece was not the cause. King Edmund held up the original Moonstone and frowned.

"He's right, there's no power here." Eugene threw up his hands.

"That's just great, now what?" Adira picked up the rock and inspected it closely.

"This was supposed to be carved from a fallen piece of the moon right?" As much as Varian really didn't want to talk to Adira right now, he pushed his feelings aside for the sake of the mission.

"Sort of, it was brought back by an astronaut when they visited the moon decades ago. It was stolen and sold to a collector. His heir found it after they died and gave it back to the original owner." Cassandra snorted.

"You're telling us someone visited the moon and brought a piece of it back? Seriously, you didn't need to make up such an outrageous story."

Varian was disheartened to see many of them were chuckling. Even some of the Brotherhood were trying to hide their smiles. It was like he was back in Corona again. He had a brilliant idea and no one would listen to him. He didn't bother pointing out that's just what the display said. If they had such a hard time understanding a flashlight he didn't want to waste his time trying to explain space travel. Even though he knew a real astronaut, his best friend's Mother, he doubted they would believe him anyway.

"Regardless, it's a fake." Adira said, easily crushing it. "Looks like someone took the real one."

The news was a setback but if someone went through the trouble of stealing the stone it likely meant they were on the right track.

Suddenly Rapunzel and Varian's hair started to glow and they both felt a tug somewhere in their soul. The both looked up as the glowing died down.

"It's close." Rapunzel said as Varian nodded.

"It's somewhere above us." Hector followed their gaze and frowned.

"Why steal something and not take it from the building?" Lance smiled looking at his former partner.

"Reminds me of that job we pulled at that museum in Italy." Instantly Eugen remembered.

"Oh yeah! We swapped that jewel and hid it in the guard's bag so when they searched us they didn't find anything."

"Shame someone stole the guard's back before we could get back." They laughed together but stopped when they saw disapproving looks from several of their traveling companions. Most Eugene's Father.

"Anyway," Eugene said, trying to change the subject. "To the stairs!"

But as they were about to enter the stairwell Hector stopped.

"Hold it, I hear something." he said in a low growl. "Someone else is in the building." The others paused and strained their ears to listen.

"There!" Edmund shouted quietly pointing to a cafeteria drawing his sword followed by Hector and Cassandra. "Let's see what we're dealing with."

VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

Ladybug was pleased with the rescue efforts from all the holders but she was especially impressed by Azeban. He said young heroes in New York first learn how to rescue citizens before taking on supervillains and it looked like all that practice was paying off. So much so she was getting a little worried about this new Varian.

Vee seemed to be driven to save as many as possible. A noble sentiment but she feared he might be pushing himself too hard. At least his outfit was a lot different than Tanuki so most people thought he was just a new holder which made things easier. Maybe she should ask Luka to have a word with him later.

She had been keeping an eye on Viperion as well. It looked like he was doing OK not using his powers that often but it was a little hard to tell with the Second Chance.

It wasn't all good news unfortunately. She found out Nathaniel was hit in the head by a piece of falling debris and had to be rushed to the hospital. Marc was with him while they waited for his parents. Vee was the one who dropped him off and thanks to his speed it looked like he was going to be OK. He was being kept for observation just to be safe. Head wounds were still pretty dangerous.

This latest attack was making people really worried and many were starting to leave the city since nothing seemed to be working on these rocks. Ladybug prayed the Corona group was successful in their quest. The future of Paris depended on it.

Ladybug had just finished securing a building when her partner landed beside her.

"Need some help, Mylady?" she shook her head.

"Just finished here? How are things on your end?"

"Good, I got everyone out and made sure the building wasn't going to come down on anyone." There was something in his voice that sounded off to Ladybug.

"So what's wrong?" Chat Noir sighed and glanced at his staff head that doubled as a phone.

"Nothing much I just…can't get a hold of someone. Not that I expected them to answer but still…" She suspected he was talking about Gabriel Agreste. She wasn't sure what to say to that without compromising their identities but she felt like she had to say something.

"Do you need any help?" he shook his head.

"Thanks but I'm sure they're fine. I'll just have to hunt them down after we're done." He leapt onto the building next to them. "I'm going to go around and see if anyone else needs help."

"Good idea." she said knowing the distraction would help for a little while. "I'll let you know if I need you anywhere specific." He turned to leave but she stopped him. "Oh and one more thing." He paused looking back at her in question.

"Good to have you back, partner." He smiled, the light coming back into his eyes.

"Thanks partner." and then he was off. Ladybug was about to head off herself when all of the sudden a time portal opened in front of her and Bunnyx hurried out.

"B-Bunnyx?" The Rabbit holder, folded her umbrella and came up to her. "What are you doing here?" She hoped she hadn't accidentally messed up the timeline…again.

"Minibug thank goodness I caught you. I had to pick a time when you were alone but no one else was in immediate need of rescue." Ladybug blinked. It was weird knowing this was her friend from the future who seemed so much more mature and wiser. She could only hope she was at least close to that when she grew up.

"What's wrong, did I screw up again." Bunnyx thought for a moment.

"Well you weren't supposed to use the horse Miraculous without a holder. That did kind of start everything." It was hard to hear her actions had caused so much trouble. She felt so guilty.

"I knew it, everything was my fault." She was fighting back tears as Bunnyx realized she had phrased her message wrong.

"No no, I know it seems bad now but this has to play out for our world as well as Varian's." Ladybug looked confused.

"I…I don't understand." Bunnyx took a hold of her shoulder.

"Minibug listen to me, this is very important. I can't give you any details so you're going to have to trust me OK?" Ladybug nodded. Whatever this was seemed very important.

"OK, I trust you." Bunnyx let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.

"The others are going to want to take Varian with them back to his home world but no matter what you can't let that happen!" Ladybug's eyes widened in surprise.

"But the rocks followed him here. Why-"

"I'm sorry but I can't answer any questions on this but…" She paused, looking a little sad. "Varian must never return to his original world."

VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

As the Corona Crew and the Brotherhood approached the cafeteria ready for battle Varian suddenly realized who was inside. He quickly transformed back, hiding Ruddiger in his hoodie pocket.

"Guys, put your weapons away I know who's in there!" he exclaimed as he ran into the room leaving the others stunned.

"V-Varian?" King Edmund said reluctantly sheathing his sword following after the boy. The rest followed even if Hector just kept his dagger out of sight for the time being.

What greeted them was a sight no one was expecting. A large group of about 20 people, mostly in uniforms, were gathered together around the tables.

"Thank heavens you found us." A man in a security guard uniform exclaimed. "We've been trapped in here for so long we'd almost given up hope and-" he paused, noting the weird clothes everyone but Varian was dressed in. "What are you wearing?" Varian had to think quickly.

"We were in the middle of a…larping section. Yeah, the rocks started acting up again and we saw a stray one break the big one blocking the front door." Another guard was looking at them with suspicion.

"Larping huh, then where's your wizard? You can't quest with just fighters and rogues." Of all the things to get called out on, Varian was not expecting that.

"Ah, that would be me. I was running late and didn't get a chance to change into my costume." He knew Eugene was snickering at him for having to call himself a wizard.

"Oh, that makes sense." The other people in the group were sending the guard cautious looks.

"You'll have to forgive Samuel, he's not coping well with being cooped up with no access to the outside world." Said a shop worker who was more interested in leaving then what level their party was at.

"Is anyone injured?" Eugene asked as he scanned the room. A cafeteria lady shook her head.

"Just some cuts and bruises but they've all healed by now. Thankfully the building had enough backup power to keep most of the refrigerators going for a while but we've been getting low on rations." Varian was scanning the group recognizing some of the faces from the missing person's fliers but the one he was looking for was not among them.

"Is this everyone? I'm looking for Jalil Kubdel. Has anyone seen him?" The party from Corona had no idea who this person was but he seemed to mean something to Varian.

"The curator's son?" Varian nodded.

"I'm friends with his sister and she's been worried sick. Has anyone seen him since the rocks invaded?" More than one of his former friends were surprised to hear he had yet another friend in this world.

"Sorry, everyone gathered here when the rocks started acting up again." Said the security guard who first addressed him. "This is all of us." Varian was clearly disappointed but this was at least 20 people who would get to be reunited with their loved ones. He tried to be happy about that.

"We're going to keep looking anyway." Varian told them to cover their tracks. "The front door is unblocked you might want to leave as soon as possible in case the rocks start acting up again."

The museum employees didn't waste any more time. They thanked the larping crew as they made their way out.

"So this Jalil's been missing since the rocks came?" Lance asked, watching the staff make their way out.

"Yeah, I remember seeing him the day the Moon rock carving was put on display. A few days later the rocks invaded. My friend Alix was convinced he was somewhere in the Museum and she was right about there being enough food for him to still be alive but…" he trailed off. "I was really hoping he'd be here." Edmund stepped up.

"While it's good we got those people to safety, we still have a mission to complete." Varian reluctantly complied. If Jalil was trapped somewhere else in the building, without food or water there was little hope for him.

The group was ascending the stairs when they came to a deadend that oddly looked promising. It was blocked by the black rocks but instead of coming up they pointed down. Like the source was above them. Varian made short work of the rocks revealing a door marked employees only. They were close now, Varian could feel it. As they made their way in however Cassandra stopped Rapunzel.

"Raps, I know you feel guilty about what happened to Varian but if he gets his hands on the Moonstone there's not much we can do to stop him from taking over." Rapunzel sighed.

"Cass, I know you feel strongly about this and I wish he didn't have this burden either, but right now he's the only one who can reunite the Moonstone. Hopefully we can both be free of this destiny once this is over." she started to walk away but Cassandra grabbed her hand.

"It doesn't have to be him. Vari said, I took the Moonstone in his world." Rapunzel was taken aback.

"Cass what are you saying?"

"Let me take on that burden for him. Then we can get rid of the rocks and free Varian from his destiny. Heck I can even free his Dad before we do and he can get a happy ending after all. What do you say?" Rapunzel was looking at her skeptically.

"Cass," she said quietly. "Were…were you planning to take the stone all along." Cassandra feigned surprise.

"Would I be telling you all this if I was planning to betray you?" Rapunzel was still unsure. Luka was right she wasn't the best at picking up on liars. Still she had a point. Why would she just tell her?

"I suppose not but what if the Moonstone doesn't bond with you the same way it did with your counterpart?"

"I'm willing to take that risk."

"But I'm not!" she took Cass's hands in her. "Cassandra I'm sorry if I sometimes make you feel like a servant or you feel compelled to follow my orders. I see you as more than that. You're my best friend, practically my sister and I don't want you putting yourself at risk for my safety. Even if that is your job." Cassandra was quiet for a moment seemingly touched by what the princess had to say.

"Alright Raps, I won't stop what's about to happen next. I promise." Rapunzel threw her arms around her.

"Thank you Cass." She pulled away looking excited. "This'll turn out just fine, you'll see."

"I believe you Rapunzel." Just then they heard shouting from the floor above. It sounded like the other had found something. As Rapunzel raced off Cassandra's smile fell.

"I'll keep my promise Rapunzel." she said too quietly for anyone to hear. "But I will protect you, even from yourself." she didn't notice a copper colored insect plucking something out of her pocket.

VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

Vari considered Cassandra like a sister to him, but this wasn't the Cassandra he knew. When they were splitting up to either save citizens or find the Moonstone he whispered to Ladybug letting her know he was going to be keeping an eye on Cassandra and then announced he would be helping the civilians to cover his tracks.

The Brotherhood knew he was trailing them. He had gotten better since the first time they met but he still had a lot to learn. Still they didn't give away his presence and for that he was thankful. They were likely suspicious of Casandra as well. Her absence right before they entered the Museum worried him as well as the paper she was trying to conceal in her pocket. He had to know what it was without tipping her off.

He always had mixed feelings about his Miraculous powers. Creating something and bringing it to life was incredible but it could never be forever. They were created to accomplish a task and once that was done they would cease to exist. He kept all the objects he turned into sentimonster trying to honor their memories as well as their short lives. This one would be no different.

He made a small but strong flying insect out of a coin and sent it to retrieve the paper Cassandra was so desperate to hide. He silently prayed the information would be worth the life of his newest creation.

The creature was successful but as he read the message he regretted his wish. They had this all wrong. Forgetting stealth he raced to try and get to the others before it was too late.

VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

Varian entered what looked like a storage room and the sight before him made his heart jump.

"Jalil!" There was the missing boy trapped in an almost cocoon-like shell made from the black rocks. Varian put his hands on the shell and to his surprise he could feel a heartbeat thumping weakly beneath him.

"He's…he's alive!" Varian wasted no time carefully removing the rocks trapping the poor man. He let out a grunt as soon as he was free. While he had a pulse it was still weak. "We need to get him out of here."

He then spotted the skylight, the sun shining high above them threw the glass. He used the rocks to lift both of them up through the window in the ceiling. Once outside he called the number Ladybug gave him on his phone. It wasn't her who showed up however. It was Pegasus.

VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

The others watched as Varian frantically got the trapped man out of the building.

"So…how did he get stuck in the rocks?" Eugene asked, looking in the direction Varian fled.

"A better question would be, where's the Moonstone." Hector asked as all the brotherhood looked around.

Rapunzel was keeping an eye on Cassandra but she didn't seem to be doing anything suspicious. It was almost like she was waiting for something.

VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

He hadn't intended to meet him like this. This was the first time he'd seen Max since he was outed as Tanuki. No doubt Ladybug had told all of the other holders. But as much as he wanted to try and talk things out with his friend now was not the time.

"I…I found Jalil." was all he managed to get out. He couldn't see Max's eyes beneath the shades but he imagined Pegasus' eyes widened with shock. "I'm sorry, I know I messed up but please help him." He handed Jalil over to his friend wishing he would say something.

"I'll be sure he gets to a hospital."

"And be sure to contact Alix."

"Naturally." That seemed to be the end to the conversation as Pegasus made a portal directly to the hospital and Varian started making his way back inside.

"Varian?" He paused. "When this is over, I think we're going to need to talk." Varian nodded.

"I think I'll be doing that with a lot of people soon enough." Pegasus nodded and Varian let himself back into the building. He was so relieved Jalil was safe. Hopefully Alix-

He looked up and what he saw made his blood run cold. There were new black rocks shooting out and trapping the Brotherhood, Eugene and Lance. The door they had just come through was once again blocked and he could hear one of the other Varians yelling behind it.

"GET OUT! IT'S A TRAP!" Rapunzel was free but was too scared to touch the black rocks so close to her friends. Then Varian noticed there was one other person still free.

"Cassandra? What's going on? What did you do?" She looked at him and for a moment it looked a little like regret but a moment later it changed to something colder.

"I did nothing, just as ordered." Both Varian and Rapunzel looked at each other confused.

"Order?" Rapunzel asked as Varian was frantically looking around.

"From who?"

"From me!" While his blood had gone cold before it had now turned to ice. Varian slowly turned around toward the frighteningly familiar voice.

"Dad?" Rapunzel said with a hint of fear seeing her face. He was blind in one eye with scars running across his face. If there were more she couldn't tell because he was wearing a suit of armor. No…it wasn't armor, it was a suit made from the black rocks with the new Moonstone lodged in the center of his chest. His hair was an unnatural shade of blue and he wore an angry scowl on his face.

Varian thought he must be having a nightmare, it was similar to the ones he's had before. He took a step back but the king followed.

"We have much to discuss."
