Heyo! RGQC here with another story that so happened to pop up in my head as I was minding my own business playing Punishing Gray Raven. Yeah… Kinda got engrossed into that game and had already sunk in many hours on it and got inspiration to write something new. But yea, it is a SI one-shot but I hope you enjoy it. Perhaps, if enough support is garnered for it, I may end up making it into a full story of its own like one the others I wrote.
So, yea, I hope you enjoy this story, and I'll go back to playing Grey Raven.
Like all my other stories, I do not own any of RWBY or their content. They all belong to their respective owners. Nor do I own Lucia Alpha, she belongs to Kuro Technology and their series Punishing Gray Raven.
(As of 6/8/2024 this chapter has been improved.)
There are many secrets and stories in the world of Remnant. Some serve as a blessing, others… not so much. Yet, some stories are true but hidden from the rest of the world. Is it to safeguard Remnant from it? Like keeping Salem's existence away from the world? Or would keeping it a secret backfire on the whole world and put everyone in danger?
No matter the answer, there are others like her. Once such an example of a story of the past that still exists is hidden deep within Atlas itself. It is a classified log that houses 25-year-old information, the data within it leads to one of their decommissioned projects.
Project Alpha.
The greatest of scientists and engineers of Atlas come together to work on building the perfect weapon to counter the Grimm threat. Every single test they put it through was passed beyond expectations. But the project was permanently cancelled years into its development when a crisis happened.
It was said that the android that everyone was working on, suddenly went rogue and slaughtered anyone it could get its hands on. Scientists, engineers, military personnel. No one was safe from it. Though it took time and effort from the Atlesian military and many lives were lost in the process, they were unable to destroy it, but managed to subdue the rogue android, right before placing it out of commission for good.
Or at least that's how the story goes, and the warning of tampering with such advanced weaponry without any form of restraint.
Yet, the truth was much different from what it was told.
Much more different.
The truth is that Atlas was unable to defeat the android as it was just too dangerous, and it managed to turn the facility's own defences against them by hacking into it. Much to their surprise, however, the android made no effort to leave the facility. And thus, they set up a kilometre long quarantine around the facility. Constantly monitoring for any signs of movement.
But they got nothing in return.
Many expeditions have been launched into the facility to retake it, but each one of them was met with disastrous amounts of casualties and failure in return. It was soon declared by the Atlas Military that whatever happened here must remain classified and hidden from the rest of the world. They did their best to keep the situation a secret, but the crisis that had befallen Atlas had leaked to the wider world and earned the kingdom mass condemnation for messing with advanced technology without restraint.
And so, with no other choice from the wider global outcry and constant failures to breach the facility, the Atlesian military dismantled the quarantine zone and left. Leaving behind a facility that was slowly taken by nature and snow.
And soon, the lasting memory of the disaster of this project faded away into memory.
There was also the case of the leading Scientist in charge of the entire project suddenly disappearing a week before the android went rogue. Many claimed that he was responsible for the android becoming aggressive. Others say that he was the first victim to it. Whatever the case, his body was never found before it began killing everyone in sight.
Like with everything, time passes and situations change.
The rise of the White Fang, once an activist group for Faunus civil rights, now a terrorist organisation, was on the hunt for what their mole had recently dug out from within Atlas. An ancient experimental android in an abandoned facility somewhere in Solitas would be beneficial to the Fang as a whole, should they claim it for themselves and use it against the wretched human oppressors.
Yet, their mole failed to give them the warnings as to why it was abandoned to start with…
And so, with the orders from Adam Taurus himself, a group of them were sent out to the tundra of Solitas to search for this lost weapon and claim it for themselves. And they found it. Deep within the snowy tundra, a massive facility could be seen covered in an extremely thick layer of snow. Any defensive turrets in the area were covered in snow and ice and were clearly aged and lacked maintenance. A clear sign that it's abandoned for decades, and they won't have to worry about any threats from the facility itself.
"There it is." The Lieutenant leading his band that consisted of 6 other members spoke out with relief. They have been tracking in the endless snow of Solitas for days now in an attempt to find this lost weapon of war.
"So what now boss?" The Lizard Faunus asked his boss as they all got a view of the abandoned base.
"We get in and search around for any information as to this weapon. We also need to search for it as well." That was all he said as he began walking towards the abandoned facility, as everyone else followed right behind him. After all, it looks massive, and time will be needed to figure out what's contained within.
As they approached the facility, they could see the extent of how nature has reclaimed the facility itself. Large segments of it had plants growing on it, or trees could be seen all over the place. Minus the snow and such. In fact, it could theoretically be repurposed the abandoned facility into a hidden base. But they first must find what they came here for.
Approaching the main gate, the Fang Lieutenant raised his hand out to stop the other Fang members, right before charging forward and sending a punch directly at the door with a loud clang. His fist caved into the door itself before he reached over to the other side of the door and ripped it open into the facility itself.
"Well. It must be easy for someone who has a Semblance." One of the grunts muttered out as the Lieutenant just shook his head with annoyance and walked into the facility itself with them tailing behind. As they walked through the dark corridors deeper into the facility itself, they encountered various skeletons with ragged apparel all over the place. Ruined guns were also seen among the skeletons. Some of them were even split in two pieces.
Some could be seen leaning against the wall, others were broken or were laying on the floor. The parts of the wall were noticeably darker than usual, as if those were originally blood stains on it. In fact, the number of skeletons in ragged clothing they came across was astounding. There were also various ceiling turrets in place, but they shone no light and were lifeless.
Just like the rest of this facility.
As they walked past various skeletons in the darkened corridor, one of the White Fang Grunts scoffed. "Looks like many of those Atlesian bastards died here. Whatever we're supposed to get here must be definitely worth the trouble."
"Something doesn't feel right." Another grunt spoke up as she looked at all the bodies in closer detail. "Many of those bones have sword marks on them. And it looks like some of those bones have been split in two. What kind of weapon did they create to cause that?"
"The very weapon we need to use to free our people. Now come, we move forward." The Lieutenant mutters out as they all walk deeper into the facility. They soon came across what looked like a control room of sorts as more skeletons in ragged lab coats as well as a couple in military uniform with rifles or pistols near their bodies.
"We stop here for now." The Lieutenant ordered out as he surveyed the room. "Look for anything useful. Especially information on this weapon."
"Yes sir!" All the grunts agreed as they began to look through everything. As they surveyed the room, the Lieutenant walked over to the main console and began typing away on it before a fellow Fang showed up with hacking equipment and plugged it into the mainframe. It took a couple of seconds for it to be hacked, and it possessed several audio logs and a map of the entire facility.
"Sir, should we listen in on these logs? While most are corrupted, they should give us a hint as to what we're looking for." One of the grunts points out as the Lieutenant continues to stare at the console before nodding.
"Do it."
With a nod, their resident hacker clicked on one of the logs as it began to play.
"This is log 46 of Project Alpha." A voice of what could be a scientist could be heard playing out. "The subject has so far passed test 56 with flying colours. And much to everyone's surprise, it began showing signs of sentience, I must say! If what, I believe, is correct, we may have created the first ever artificial intelligence on Remnant! What a marvel of engineering we've created! Imagine what good we could create with such intelligence at our side! Oh dear, I'm getting distracted. Right. In short. Project Alpha is going as planned and if it continues like this, it will be completed by the end of this year. That is all."
*Click*
All the White Fang members looked at each other before nodding as another audio log was played.
"This is log 80. This is a terrible day for everyone, Dr Kurt Erhard has been reported missing five hours ago. We're not so sure what happened to him, he didn't leave the facility to go somewhere or anything. It's like he just vanished into thin air! He played a key role in the management of Project Alpha and his sudden disappearance has set us back for months because he has the all blueprints and schematics of Project Alpha. But we will continue our work. We can't stop now; we have come so far, and we can't just let it fall apart. That is all, for now."
*Click*
"Play the earliest Log you can find. I tire of hearing their nonsensical ramblings." The Lieutenant commanded as she nodded in response.
"Of course."
But when they played the latest log, all they heard was muffled gunfire, screaming, as well as the sound of people dying in the background. "I don't understand! What did we do wrong?! Why did it begin attacking everyone?!" What they heard was clearly the same scientist, but he was now panicking.
"Keep that door closed now! Don't let it in here!" Footsteps could be heard as another voice could be heard, while the sound of violence drowned out most of the background.
"We're all going to die!"
"This is log 96, Project Alpha has gone rogue! I repeat, Project Alpha has gone Rogue! We need help! That android is going to kill us all! If you can hear us, save us!" More muffled gunfire could be heard before a loud clang could be heard as the scientist let out a horrified gasp.
"Shit! We're trapped here! That damn android hacked the entire facility!" Another scientist could be heard as more gunfire fire could be heard before an even louder crash could be heard.
"Get away!" An agonising scream could be heard as that person was cut down.
"No! Stay away from me!" The very same scientist could be heard panicking as he could be heard falling onto the floor and stumbling back. Calm footsteps could then be heard approaching towards him. "NO PLEASE! STAY AWAY NO-AAAAAHHH!-"
*Click*
And with that, the log ends. Most of the grunt's faces collectively paled underneath their masks, as they could only wonder what could cause such terror among them. What sort of weapon did they make? Why did they make it? Those were the questions running through their heads as their superior just tapped on the console itself, the mainframe then brought up the map of the entire facility as well as where they were.
He then plugged his scroll into the console and downloaded the map. "Adam will be most pleased to have such a weapon in the White Fang's hands." Their Lieutenant just hummed causally before walking off as the rest nervously followed behind.
"Forgive me sir, but are you sure this thing won't just kill us if it's awake?"
This got a sigh from the Lieutenant who shook his head. "The information we got from our mole says that this place has been abandoned for 25 years already. I honestly doubt that android is still active. And besides, we get to salvage what's left here."
"Assuming there's anything left to take here." Another grunt at the back of the group muttered to himself.
"Shut it and let's move!" The Lieutenant yelled out as everyone just nodded in response.
Some time passed, and they soon arrived at what looked like a weapons testing room. Inside it, various designs of weaponry could be seen and a multitude of swords as well. However, due to the passing of time, most of them don't even work at all, or they just fall apart upon first use, as one White Fang grunt found out when he swung a sword. Only for it to snap upon contact with a block of iron.
"Well, this is a waste…" The Lieutenant muttered to himself. "Imagine the good these weapons could bring our freedom."
"Sir, there is still the main hub where Project Alpha is kept. Should we go there and check it out?" Another Fang member walked up to his superior who just nodded his head as he rubbed his chin.
"Yes. However, search up the area first. Perhaps we could find something of use here."
"Right."
"We should be arriving at Project Alpha's main hub soon, sir." Their hacker announced as she was the one taking the lead.
"This facility is massive. Have you sent any reports back to the boss about what we found so far? We could also use more men to explore this place." The Lieutenant stopped and faced his men. Only for them to have problems trying to contact the others.
"Sir… There's something wrong with the communications."
"Define something wrong…" He growls.
The grunt gulped before nervously responding back. "Sir… We just lost contact with the CCTs. I believe that we went so deep into this facility that we lost signal, sir."
The Lieutenant just hummed to himself as he thought of a plan. "We push on, secure Project Alpha and then we get out. Once we do, we can call for more help as well as secure the weapon." He turned around and resumed walking as all the grunts acknowledged him.
"Yes sir."
As they go deeper and closer to Project Alpha's main hub, they notice that something wasn't right. The lights were on, and the place wasn't as abandoned as it looked. In fact, it looked rather clean, like a newly refurbished laboratory.
"Be on your guard. We must be getting closer to it." That was all the Lieutenant said as everyone pulled out their guns or melee weapons as they reached the main door that houses Project Alpha. Knowing that there's no other way into the hub, the Lieutenant walked towards the door and forced it open with his super strength semblance.
They then walked into the main hub only to notice a katana in a massive sheath floating within some sort of containment field. Then there were also all sorts of machinery hardware at work as the sounds of chirps and whirs could be heard all over the hub. Yet, that is not what surprised them the most in the room itself, as in the centre of it stands Project Alpha herself.
What they first thought of as a human girl with all sorts of wires and cables attached to her while floating in some sort of stasis chamber turns out to be much more. Her hair was bleached white that extends down to her hips, her fringe is long enough and was swept to the left side of her face and concealed her left eye. She seemed to wear some sort of overcoat that was black before slowly turning red as it got closer to the edges of it. It was also slightly torn and tattered.
The sleeves were folded up to her elbows, which exposed her robotic arms. One painted red, the other black. That wasn't the only thing robotic about her. On her head, pieces of metal could be seen covering her ears, and it sticks off the top of her head like pointy horns. Her left cheek is also partially covered in some sort of metal.
Project Alpha was also wearing black leggings that had patches of red, though they were not sure whether it was already like that or its blood. She was also wearing black knee-high boots. Lastly, there's a red scarf wrapped around her neck multiple times.
The Fang expedition could only walk around the room with curiosity as the Lieutenant observed Project Alpha. "So, you're the one who slaughtered everyone in this facility." He hummed, though he wondered one thing.
"Did they experiment on their own kind? Humans are truly a detestable species if they are willing to do this..." He growled as one of his followers quashed his theory.
"Sir, sorry to interrupt, but Project Alpha is purely a machine. It just looks human enough that it could be classified as an android." She spoke out as she read the details of Project Alpha on a nearby console.
"What did it say about it?" The Lieutenant requested as he moved his eyes onto what could be assumed is Project Alpha's sword.
"It possesses a double processor in its system which allows it to act, think and make decisions like a human. Then it also has an advanced dust core and an… experimental aura generator? B… B… Boss, that thing has a soul!"
The Fang Lieutenant snapped his head towards his subordinate as everyone looked at her with shock. "What?! Impossible! Confirm it!"
"Confirm sir!" She just shook her head as a beeping could be heard as she filtered through the contents.
"This doesn't make any sense. The technology used to make this thing is nothing I've seen before! It even has artificial blood in its system!"
"What kind of monstrosity have we come across?" A grunt across the room asked out with a hint of fear.
"...A powerful tool, that's what." That was all the Lieutenant said with a pause. "I want this android extracted, but do be careful. I don't wish to share the fate of these humans." That was all he said as nods were returned to him.
Unfortunately for him and pretty much everyone in the room, Alpha's hand twitched and earned the attention of everyone. The tension in the room rapidly rose on the spot.
"Did its hand just twitch?" One of the grunts could only wonder out, only for an alarm to blare out and everything in the room went red.
"Shit! What the hell! What did you do?!" The Lieutenant hastily asked out as their hacker panicky responded back.
"Sir! Our attempt to disable the stasis pod holding Project Alpha has triggered some sort of awakening stage!" The expedition hacker explained as she began typing on the console.
"What!?" The Lieutenant roared. "Can you shut it off before it awakes?"
"I can try to disable it, sir! But it will take time!"
"Do it then! We can't afford to have that thing awake right now!"
"Right!"
POV ?
"What the fuck?" Those were my thoughts as I tried to process what's going on. I'm honestly not so sure what happened but waking up in a void is well… confusing as hell. I remember signing some papers for the approval for the new employees, and taking a short nap. Only for me to wake up in this void?
What in the world is happening?
But apparently, I won't have to wait forever in this darkness when a feminine voice speaks into my non-existent ears.
[Re-establishing primary CPU algorithm.]
"What."
[Primary CPU algorithm operational. Reactivating all systems.]
"Wait what?"
[Error. Anomaly detected. Analysing…]
"Where am I? Is that an AI talking to me?"
[ALERT! Unidentified aura detected. Initiating purging procedure.]
"Wait, what does that eve- AAAHHHHH!" It was a moment of confusion before an agonising pain took over my non-existent body. And trust me, it hurts like hell! I wasn't sure how long it lasted, but apparently their purging of me seemed to fail, and so does the agonising pain I felt for what felt like hours.
[Aura purging procedure failed. Analysing options.]
[Viable option chosen. Initiate aura assimilation.]
I have no idea what the hell that means, but it sounds way better than getting purged. That was quickly followed by the feeling of a body that is clearly not mine. But I still can't see anything at all. That includes moving any of my limbs.
[Aura Assimilation completed. Running diagnostics]
[Diagnostics complete.]
That's good, right? Please tell me if that's the case? I can't be in a human body if I'm hearing this happening.
[Reactivating all systems. Please stand by…]
"Oh, I get to have my senses back now? Ok. I need some time to absorb this. So, long story short, I woke up from my nap in a place in which I couldn't see shit right before a robotic feminine voice spoke to me. That was quickly followed by me about to get purged, it failed, then it chose to assimilate me." But, if that's the case. How am I still here? Am I even human any more? I don't even know what's going on any more.
*Sigh*
Only one way to find out.
And aura... why does that seem so familiar to me? I swear I heard about it before...
Well, whatever it was, that was immediately overshadowed by the sound of alarms blaring and someone screaming getting louder and louder in my ears. What the hell is going out there? Is there something happening right now?
[Sensory systems restored.]
I could only open my eyes to see some sort of display over the edges of my eyes, and that my left eye was blocked by snow-white hair. That wasn't the only thing I noticed. I also noticed that I was in some sort of laboratory, I guess? Also, the whole room had alarms ringing and at least 7 people with masks could be seen running all over the place with one of them giving commands. Some of them have animal traits on them, like ears or tails. How strange.
The next thing I could feel was a bunch of wires and cables attached directly to me in the back. With a large one directly connected to the back of my neck. I can't even see it, but I just know it's there. It also didn't take long for one of those people in the room to notice me watching them.
"Shit! Boss! That android's awake!" One of them had patches of scales all over his arms yelled out as what I guess is his superior. He then turned his head towards me before looking at a woman who was typing on the console of sorts not too far away.
"I thought you said you had it under control!"
"I'm doing my best over here sir! But every attempt to shut it down keeps getting denied! I need more time!"
"Damn you fool! Time is something we're running out of!" The boss cursed out before turning his head back at me. As for me, I was still trying to process what the fuck was going on! Fortunately for him, I guess, I can't really do anything but stare at him as I'm still stuck in this chamber, I'm in. Nor can I talk. Guess I need to wait until it restores my vocal functions.
[Attempting to retrieve back up memory.]
"Wait, back up memories?" Those were my thoughts when another popup appeared in front of my eyes.
[Error... Memory data retrieval failed.]
[Motor systems restored.]
While it was slow at first, I could finally move my limbs. Though I'm still held up by wires but at least now I could look at my hands. But it appears that me beginning to move spooked them as at least one or two of them pulled up their guns and pointed it directly at me. I should be concerned or feel fearful when someone is pointing a gun at me but for some reason, it's muffled. Almost like my emotions are suppressed.
"Are my emotions suppressed?" I began to wonder internally, while ignoring everyone and just stared at my own two hands which were clearly mechanical in nature. I then clenched my fist as I continued to stare them down when suddenly, I began to speak automatically.
"Vocal systems restored." What came out of my mouth was cold and robotic, yet I didn't say that! The system inside me did it! No matter, hearing that coming out of me worried these people clearly.
Before they could do or react to what I said, I then chose to ask them. Because clearly, I need to figure out what the hell is going on. It's clear that they were terrified of me. But why, though?
"Who are you intruders?"
As if a pin had dropped, everyone just paused and stared at me with their guns pointed in my general direction. It was then that the boss spoke up. "We are the White Fang, and we seek your assistance to free our Faunus brethren from humanity! Just as you were about to be enslaved by them when they made you all those years ago." He explains as I stared at him.
"White Fang… White Fang… Wait a minute… Does he mean the terrorist group called the White Fang in RWBY? Huh… That also explains the animal traits they so happen to possess. Wait, what does he mean by 'all those years ago?'" I ended up showing a face of scepticism, as everything in my system was pointing out that he's blatantly lying to my face. I should be more emotional at this, but I just can't express it!
As I continued staring at them, a part of me connected to their unprotected scrolls and downloaded enough information as to what they were here for in less than 5 seconds. "They intend to use me as a weapon, huh? You can't lie to me. Terrorist." I thought in my head.
My eyes then lay upon what, I assume, is my weapon not too far away before looking back at them all. "You lie. Your devices told me the truth. You come here to take everything worth here. And wield me as a weapon. A tool."
"Tch, so you figured it out that fast, huh?" That was all the White Fang leader said after clicking his tongue and pulling a gun out and aiming it for my head. "You're coming with us. Whether you like it or not." He made his demands clear as another alert appeared before my eyes. But it was obvious he was pulling a farce; his heart rate is much higher than before.
[All systems online. Project Alpha is fully operational.]
[High hostility levels detected in 7 targets. Combat protocols enabled.]
A small part of me could only smile as the cables and wires that held me up disconnected as I fell to my feet. This resulted in everyone shooting at me. However, it turns out, the glass that covers the chamber I was in turns out to be bulletproof, so the look of surprise on their faces told me everything. They weren't expecting it and they just wasted some bullets.
"Hostile intent confirmed." That was all I said as the glass retracted into the ground as I leapt over it and sent a sucker punch to their leader's face. What I didn't expect was for my punch to send him flying into the wall! In fact, that single punch was so shocking for everyone that it caused them all to pause for a second.
And that second was all I needed to move at such speeds that before grabbing what, I assume, is my sword from a containment field like the one that I was in earlier on. I quickly unsheathe it to show a beautifully designed blade that was red and glowing, with the sharp part of it pure white instead.
And with it, I swung at a nearby grunt and severed him into two as his insides spilled on the floor. Did I also mention that everything became muffled suddenly?
Gross… And also. I just murdered a man! What the fuck!
Without hesitation, I charged directly at the remaining Fang grunts and finished them so fast and efficiently that none of them didn't manage to fire a shot. Their screams of agony fill the room as their blood stains the clean room which housed me. With the Fang big boss left, I stabbed into his arm, only for his aura to absorb it.
"Bloody trash! I'll kill you for what you did to my brothers and sisters!" That was all he yelled out before swinging his sword at me, though I did a backflip and landed back on my feet a distance away.
"I didn't send them to their deaths. You did it."
That's all I've said, before seemingly disappearing into particles and began slicing him to tiny little meat bits in less than a second. To be honest, he didn't really last that long. In fact, it was anti-climactic, well, ignoring the fact I just butchered a couple of people when I just woke up and have no reaction to their deaths.
"What a great start." I sarcastically commented on the situation before I swung my sword to remove the blood on it. I then sheath it and placed it against my hip, as if I knew where to place it. At the same time, the alert that was active when I woke up ended and the lights returned to normal.
[All hostile targets eliminated. Combat protocols disabled.]
[Priority alert. Retrieve important data at main console.]
"Retrieve important data?" I raised an eyebrow before walking towards a nearby screen and had a good look at myself. Interestingly enough, I still look human. Well, somewhat. Then there's my eyes that were heterochromia. One was silver while the others red. Strange but ok. But one thing is sure, I look like a badass. And I clearly can't bend in with humans thanks to all these robotic parts on my face.
Walking towards the console that was being hacked earlier by Fang earlier on, either by instinct or programming, I placed my hand on it as it processed. It took less than a second before an automated announcement could be heard coming from it.
"Welcome, Lucia." Lucia, huh? That's my name? It feels… fitting in a way…
I began scrolling through countless documents and logs at such a pace that it took less than a minute due to my enhanced systems. It was then that I found a 'unique' file among the hundreds I had searched so far for information as to my creation. This one so happens to require a passcode that was inside my memory bank for some reason.
Giving it the password code, the file unlocked a video log inside it titled 'For Lucia.' Whatever it is, it must be important and with curiosity in mind, I played it.
What happens next shows an aged man with white beard, bald and in a lab coat. Kind of like your standard scientist. The room he's in is completely pitch black and also looking so old, in fact, I think he's in his late seventies. Another thing I can tell is that he looks incredibly tired and guilty for some reason. Everything in my system points out that this man in the video is my creator. As weird as it feels to be an android.
"Lucia, if you are listening to this log, then you have awakened 25 years after your initial creation and testing. I am Dr Kurt Erhard. Your creator and the man responsible for your creation and ordering the deaths of everyone in this facility. You should be the only one left alive when you see this." The initial information bomb stunned me. He… made me kill everyone? What does he mean by that?
My creator just shook his head depressingly as he continued with his explanation. "If you were wondering why you didn't remember anything related to you playing your part in killing everyone, it is because of me. I gave you a specific program to wipe your entire memory bank because... You know every single person in this facility, and I believe that it would affect your decision to carry out my orders... I just couldn't afford it."
I… killed everyone in the facility? This is too much to take in.
"You see… as much as it sounds illogical and completely insane, I'm not from Remnant. I'm from the world called Earth and I suddenly woke up in Remnant one day. I didn't know how or why I was here, but I was sent back 60 years ago. I've lived for a long time... I've seen many things during my time here." My creator then rested his hands on his head.
"He's from earth?!" That sent alarms into my system as I paid even more attention. And what he said proves that he was from Earth, like me. Why is he on Remnant?
"What I'm about to say sounds like madness, but it is the truth. There's a story back where I was from, of four girls attending a Huntsman school. You can read more on it inside this log, Lucia. But we're getting distracted. It was then that I decided to live my life. I signed up at Atlas as a roboticist and an engineering expert. I wanted to live the life I wanted, but the truth of my existence in Remnant showed itself." I watched as my creator pulled up a cup before taking a sip from it. He lets out a sigh of resignation as he places it back down.
"The Brother Gods came. Two beings that weld powers beyond our comprehension told me the truth. And how I failed my purpose. I was brought to Remnant on an earlier date to stop Salem. The queen of the Grimm. Yet, due my reluctance to face her, and my desire to live my own life resulted in me not acting with the knowledge of this world I possess. And so, I damned another soul."
"Damned another soul? Wait, is he referring to me?" My eyes could only narrow slightly.
"The brothers told me that due to my old age, I am unfit to defeat Salem. Thus, when I die, they will bring another soul from my world to stop Salem. Because of my failure, I damned another soul. And in my quest to hopefully redeem myself. I worked with everyone and created you, Lucia." A small smile appeared on my creator's face.
"A being that will end this secret war that has been going on for centuries. But it was recently that I discovered that Altas have full intention of shackling you to their will with a special loyalty code that was kept secret from me. When I found out about it, I couldn't let that happen to you. Not when I have work for you to do. This is why… I sentenced everyone who I worked with for years…" My creator began choking up, while I already knew what he was going to say.
"To death. I added it into your programme to wipe out everyone in the facility five days after my death. To safeguard you for the future. It's painful for me to do it to them. I know… each one of them. I just… I just…" I couldn't do anything but watch as the man on the screen began to cry.
I could only watch as my creator wept out tears, while I just started in shock. It must be incredibly painful to sentence your colleagues to death to protect your creation. I… I don't know how to feel about it. I… I'm both glad and horrified at the same time. I'm just speechless. Too much information is flowing into my head at the moment.
"And to you, Lucia." Dr Kurt wiped his tears off his cheeks while his eyes were red and puffy. "Once you defeat Salem, live your life as you please. I don't want to see my creation… No... My daughter, be forced to do anything she doesn't want to do. And if by some chance the next soul the Brother Gods bring in should somehow end up inside of you, Lucia." My creator then brought his hands together as he begged.
"Please. Whoever you are. I beg for your forgiveness for what I put you through for my failure. Finish what the brothers started and what I failed to end. Her body was retrofitted with tech that Altas doesn't have, like self-sufficient nanomachines that will automatically repair your body, and an experimental Aura generator of my own creation. Make use of it." He lets out a sigh before pulling up a pistol from his pocket as my eyes widen at what he's going to do.
"Take care Lucia. My daughter… This will be the last time we see each other."
"Father, wait!" I cried out as the screen shut down and turned back. My eyes were wide as plates, so was my mouth as I tried to process everything. Wait! Why did I call my creator father? What's going on?!
Oh, god!
This proves to me too much for me as I collapsed to my knees.
"Father…" I slumped down while muttering. Why can't I stop calling him that? The next thing I didn't expect was tears of my own pouring from my eyes. But I'm a machine at this point. How am I crying? Did he really install tear ducts onto this body? Why?
No. I got to remain focus. There's... there's much to be done... I can't just cry here and remain confused.
Wiping my tears and picking myself up from the ground, I placed my hand console again and began gathering all the data father left behind for me. There were many of them. Going from the entire story of RWBY written and catalogued to other documents related to Pietro and Watts on how he took both of them in. Speaking of which, Watts stuck by Pietro in fact and didn't fake his death.
That's good, I think?
Then there's an entire blueprint of my body saved within it. I suppose it can be used as an emergency just in case I lose an arm or two or head, since I have a double processor located at my chest and head. A minute or so later, all the data has been catalogued and stored, it is time for me to leave this place.
Yet, as I walked through the hallways, I could only grimace at the number of skeletons littering the rooms and hallways. "Just how many innocents did I kill in cold blood?" Those were my thoughts before I shook my head and continued checking out the systems inside me.
Ok, that sounded weird.
Turns out, there's a time accelerator built into me and time passed rapidly, and I was soon at the main gate. Which was clearly torn open. I could only stare out into the endless tundra as far as my optics could see.
Human or not, I was brought into Remnant with one purpose. Put an end to stop Salem. I will worry as to who I am later on a later date.
[New objectives added.]
I began walking out of the facility into the snow-white tundra, my feet crumpling the snow beneath me, I then proceeded to adjust the scarf on my neck so that it covers my mouth. At the same time, adjusting my sword's position so that it lies just below my back. I also chose to name it Benizakra right before uttering to myself.
"My fate is my own. Even if I do not know why they decided to put me into this body. I will do what I can to protect this world from any threats that may come, father. I promise you that." I winced slightly at the cold feeling on my thermal sensors.
And so, I walk out into the blizzard snow, alone. Leaving the facility that created me behind.
And thus the journey of Lucia has officially begun.
And we come to the end of this SI one-shot. So, how do you guys feel about it? Do you enjoy it? Besides that, so yea, technically I should be working on one of my other stories, but I just had to get it out, you know?
As you can no doubt tell, Project Alpha here is based HEAVILY on Lucia Alpha from Punishing Gray Raven going down to the style of clothing she wears and name. It turns out that game was fun as hell for me, plus it allows me to pass the time and relax when I'm not writing.
Also, I just want to roll Lucia Alpha. If it somehow boosted my chances of getting her, I'm not complaining.
But yea, this story is also an excuse for me to work on my storytelling and hopefully improve upon what I want my stories to be. Creative and fun to read. This is because I find that many other SI stories are getting stale or lacking creativity and stick to the same formula. Or just straight up crack. Which is fun to read, but doesn't really scratch that itch of mine. Is this a rant? I have no idea.
I have nothing else to say for this one short, but if you enjoy this one-short of mine and wish to show your support for (Potentially) more of this, add this story to your Follows and Favourites! Even better, please let me know what you think of this story by leaving a review!
And with that, I'll see your wonderful people in the next chapter!
RGQC out!
(As of 22/5/2022, this story is no longer a one shot. Have at it bois!)
