Surviving the Cell-games

Chapter 1 "The encounter"

Not only did he kill a man live on television, but he also announced his disgusting tournament. The Cell-Games. Like a bad joke. Something, a normal person wouldn't do. Was he even human? No, he said something like a computer made him. How was that even possible!? How is a computer able to create a living person? Just from scratch!? Nothing made sense to Mina. Cell was neither human nor normal. Nothing of what happened in the last few days made any sense at all. First, the destruction of that one island somewhere, and now Cell is responsible for the vanishing of thousands of people. He said so on live television...

Mina sat on a bench and crossed her legs. The forest where she always took a stroll calmed her down a lot. No wild animals, no other people, just peaceful silence. Beautiful. She wanted to clear her mind from all the dark things they said on the news.

But getting Cell out of her mind was a huge task. What should she do now? That Cell-guy didn't destroy her home yet, but he could easily do that any time soon. She was so tired and exhausted from being afraid all the time. He could be here any time soon. What should she do now? Stay at home and wait, or pack her things and visit her parents? She broke free from her thoughts and watched as the cool wind blew dust from the ground. The weather was nice at least.

The temperature was perfect. Not so perfect was the feeling she had from being watched. Suddenly, the forest was silent. Mina began to sweat from fear. She thought something was behind her and that made her feel terribly afraid.

Run? No.

She stopped and looked behind her.

Oh, dear god.

She shouldn't have done that. Mina tried to put on her best poker face and continued walking as though nothing happened.

She also heard his footsteps now. That made her heart race like crazy so it hurts. She tried her best to ignore him.

Just continue walking.

Breathe normally.

Don't panic.

Everything will be fine.

If Mina doesn't run, she isn't interesting...right? Only pray runs away? Right?

"I guess someone didn't watch TV today!"

In a matter of seconds, she felt like it was best to play dumb.

Mina stopped and turned towards him again. "Huh?" She tried to sound as innocent as possible. He stopped too and said in an annoyed voice, "Don't play dumb, everyone knows who I am, since my announcement. Dumb or not, I will have fun with you."

She could pretend to be even dumber, but decided against it. It could provoke him, and she didn't want that.

Time to change the plan.

"Didn't you say ten days?" Mina put on a fake smile and pretended to be calm and collected. Cell looked stern and crossed his arms. He opened his mouth to say something, but Mina interjected.

"Oh, I would love to see your tournament! Imagine who would participate! All the fighting techniques! Maybe Son Goku and Tenshinhan would show up too?" She wanted to fool him. To make him believe his tournament was important to her and that it was worth watching. Luckily, she still remembers the names of the former champions. It looked like it worked because Cell smiled now. "Oh, looks like someone enjoys martial arts."

"I love martial arts! But I love Tenshinhan more! His shoulders are so dreamy!"

She was afraid that he would see through her play.

Just stay calm.

Everything will be all right.

But she had to do more than what would be enough.

"Can I come to your tournament too?" He looked like he thought she was crazy.

He titled his head a little and said annoyed, "It was an open invitation."

"Oh great! See you at your tournament!" and with that, she continued walking.

Mina was pleading with God.

She didn't care what he thought of her, she only wanted to be alive and far away from him.

No reaction. Her heart was beating very loud. Mina had no idea what he would do next.

She almost got a heart attack when she heard an annoyed "Ts" from him, and he took off into the blue sky. Gone he was.

What if he attacks now from far away?

But nothing.

She's alive.

She's alive!

It worked!

The only thing she wanted was to go home now. Mina thought about what she told him and had to consider, that he thought, that she wanted to come to his tournament. "Well, too bad Cell, I don't have to go!" She had to smile.

Hopefully, she didn't have to meet him again. Never again!

After what felt like a huge success to her, the fear crawled back. Her mind told her, that "everyone meets twice in life" but she thought that was BS. Or maybe...?

The idea of her meeting him again made her run home as fast as possible.

She needed a bath right now. At this point, she made herself responsible for meeting Cell. Because she thought too much about him. "If you think about the devil, he will come" that was BS, but someone had to be at fault.

She threw her clothing mindlessly to the ground and walked into the shower.

Too bad there was no bathtub. She loved to dream about a big, relaxing bathtub with warm water and petals floating on the surface. That would be so amazing. But expensive. And she couldn't afford that jet.

Cell destroyed her biggest goal in life. Financial freedom.

Or maybe he didn't?

If Cell won or disappear, nothing would matter anymore, and she could search for money and treasure in the ruins...but was that correct? Would she be a bad human being if she collected money because she would be in need? Mina felt ashamed now because she wasn't in need now.

If Cell disappeared, he would leave a world behind where women and children would suffer a lot. But not with enough money. Because money rules the world.

Tomorrow, she wanted to loot some destroyed cities.

Mina didn't sleep well. Cell was also in her dreams, and it was just absurd. She was in a supermarket, and he came around the corner and asked where the cacti were.

It made her laugh.

Outside, staring at her car, she was thinking if she should do it. It was dangerous. Because Cell was so much more dangerous than anything else, she didn't consider bandits and stuff...

Everything could happen. The world is in absolute chaos. "What am I doing with my life?!"

but she still jumped in her car.

The streets are emptier than usual. Just for a few seconds, Mina asked herself why that is, but she reminded herself that Cell had been here yesterday. He destroyed a little Village nearby. A lot of people died. It was a wonder that she was still alive. Now her fear was back.

Mina wanted to loot just that village Cell destroyed yesterday. He is gone now, so what?

At this moment, the radio broadcasted emergency news. Cell is almost three hours away from her and causing chaos and destruction to a city.

She wanted to loot so badly.

Everything doesn't matter anymore.

Don't care for others.

Mina wanted to see the money.

She tried to live without many expenses and now, she wanted to reward herself for her lifestyle. That was wrong and egoistic, but that wouldn't save the world anyway.

Cell said, that humanity was doomed, and she believed him. But somewhere in her mind, she thought that everything would turn out to be ok.

"We will see."

She arrived.

Everything was burned.

When Mina got out of her car, she stepped into the ashes. They said, that Cell hit a gas station with an energy ball. Because the village was so old and almost everything was made out of wood, the fire spread like crazy. He didn't have to do much, he just stood there and watched. Mina could see him do something like that. It fit what he did all day.

She walked and looked around.

Entire buildings burnt down. Walls collapsed. No one would be able to recognize the village.

"There wouldn't be money or anything valuable." She thought to herself. But then, there was a burnt leg in front of her. The wind blew the scent of burnt human flesh on her face.

It made her rethink everything. Only now did she understand what was going on and how malicious Cell could be. Her mind was freed from money now. How naive had she been?

She wanted to go back to her car asap. She felt bad. Now, she truly believed that she was a bad human. She tried to steal from dead people. She didn't want to be like that. Furthermore, she did not see herself like that. She would never be like that.

Before she could reach her car, Cell landed in between her and her car. She could not reach it anymore. That was bad.

"Oh, did you get lost?" He said that with a mocking tone.

"No, I just wanted to see what you do in your spare time." She didn't know what to do now. There he was again. Her heart beat loud and she began to sweat. Her face turned red and her whole body felt hot. Panic.

"Aren't you supposed to be in-" He cut her off, "I was already there and enjoyed it much."

He smiled. But she couldn't tell if it was a happy smile or pure arrogance. She often mixed emotions up. "Why are you here? Do you search for someone?"

Why does he need to know?

"Is that so important? I wanted to leave now, so it doesn't matter." She tried to sound careless.

"You knew this place was destroyed, but you still came here?" What is his problem?

"Don't you have something better to do? Ehm...eh...I mean...I don't want to sound sassy, but really, why do you care?" Cell was so...curious.

He put his hands on his hips and looked to the left. "Well, could have been that... nothing." He smiled. "Forget it."

What could have been? Mina's mind was empty.

"What could have been?" He looked at her, "It's ok, it was a coincidence."

"Hu? Cell." Mina shook her head."Let's start again. I don't know what you want. What is going on?" He ignored her and took off again.

Mina was perplexed.

What.

was.

going.

on?

She didn't understand anything anymore, and what was that conversation the two had?

She couldn't understand what he wanted to say or point out.

At least she wasn't that afraid anymore.

The only thing she wanted the most was to go home and take a bath. She needed to calm her nerves.
