The Ura Inn. A peaceful place for those looking to unwind, enjoy the atmosphere, view the sights, take a bath in the famous hot springs and shop for some souvenirs in the gift shop. It was busy as usual, with people lined up ready to use the hot springs. Of course, this wasn't a bad thing as more people being here meant it was more likely for them to buy souvenirs in the gift shop, and this little shop was ran by none other than-
"Tamako!"
Mamoru rolled his wheelchair over to greet his aunt. He had been recovering from his disease thanks to help from Lan, and he's been grateful for it ever since then. Tamako was also grateful that Lan helped her nephew out, and provided support for him. The last time she saw him was at the Hawk Tournament, where she lost in the finals but was happy that he was able to give her a fight that pushed both of them to their limits. Now, back on supporting her sister's inn by running the gift shop, Tamako was living her life at ease and when she wasn't running the gift shop, she was training her NetNavi to be stronger.
"Hey, how's my nephew doing?" she asked. "Feeling better?"
"I'm feeling much better now." Mamoru replied. "My mother has been helping me a lot, and Serenade is very supportive of me." Tamako smiled at his response.
"That's wonderful, Mamoru. I'm glad you're recovering." she said. "So why'd you come to me? Did you want to have a NetBattle?"
"No, my mother wanted me to tell you that something is wrong with the TV in the lobby and if you could come fix it." said Mamoru.
"Sure, I'll check it out." Tamako put up a sign that said "be right back" before she left her shop so that she could investigate the problem for herself. Entering the hotel lobby, she saw her sister still trying to resolve the problem
"Yo, Kimie. Heard there's a problem with the TV."
"Yeah, it's not turning on. Could you please check it real quick?"
"Sure." Tamako took a quick glance at the TV. There didn't seem to be any damage on the outside and everything was plugged in correctly. "Everything seems normal on the outside. It could be a virus causing all of this then." She pulled out her PET and inside of it was her NetNavi, , a red, strong, mean-looking but kind Navi who protects the Ura Inn.
"Tamako, what do you need?" he asked her.
"Hey, MetalMan. Can you investigate the TV?" she pleaded. "There might be a virus inside of it."
"On it."
"Jack in! MetalMan! Execute!"
Entering the TVComp, MetalMan was able to confirm Tamako's suspicions. Viruses are responsible for the TV not turning on. It appeared to be a bunch of Mettaurs.
"Just Mettaurs? That's nothing for you, Metal. You can take these guys out with one finger." Tamako proclaimed.
Normally, a swarm of Mettaurs would prove to be quite challenging especially when they can hide in their helmets to shield against damage. However, MetalMan was easily more than equipped to break past their shields and take out a group of them at once. With one swing of fist, he struck the ground with enough force to shake the entire battlefield and took out the viruses in one go.
"Easy." he said. MetalMan jacked out of the comp, knowing that the virus problem was cleared up now. The sisters checked the TV once more but it still wouldn't turn on.
"Still not turning on. Even after Metal took those viruses out." Kimie noted.
"Well, time for Plan B then." Tamako announced. "MetalMan, can you please go out and buy a RepairProgram?"
The Navi let out a sigh. His operator could be a bit much at times, but he still enjoyed her company and remained faithful to her. "Yes, Tamako. I'll go get it."
"Yay! Thank you, Metal!" she squealed. Tamako returned to her stand so that she could attend the gift shop, while she sent MetalMan into the net through her PC so that he could buy the program. As he entered the Net, he was greeted by Serenade's presence.
"Good day, MetalMan." they spoke. "What brings you here?"
"Tamako sent me out to buy a repair program for the old TV." MetalMan answered. "Why are you here?"
"Mamoru wanted to play around for a bit." Serenade responded. "A kid is only young for so long after all."
"I see. Well I'll be on my way then."
"Wish you the best."
"Thank you…" he replied. Metal waved goodbye to Serenade and began his journey to buy the repair program. His journey first began at the Yoka Area. It was known for its very narrow passageways that only very few can cross without having to resort to outside methods. Thankfully, MetalMan can bypass these thanks to the fact that he can fly. Flying didn't solve everything though as he would occasionally run into some viruses who wanted to pick a fight with him.
"Metal Missiles!" he yelled out. Several missiles began to fly out of his back and targeted the attacking viruses, hitting them dead on and deleting them instantly. Letting out a brief sigh, MetalMan marched forward with his goal in mind. While navigating, he kept repeating to himself what he needed to accomplish, and that there would be very little distractions. Even though he was in a hurry, viruses kept popping up and tried to attack him but they would be dispatched very quickly by the red Navi and his brute power. Some encounters admittedly took longer than usual since certain combination of enemies can be a drag to deal with, especially when one is trying to go fast. MetalMan eventually made it to the TownSquare, where there were many shops and vendors available and he was bound to find what he needed here in this area.
"There's a lot more people here than usual…" he said to himself. He began to make his way to the store that was selling the repair program for the old TV, until a Navi stood in front of him.
"Um, hi." she waved.
"Hello… did you need something?" asked MetalMan.
"I have a favor to ask of you if you don't mind."
"What is it?"
"Could you ummm…" the Navi began to twiddle her fingers in embarrassment as a small blush appeared on her face. "Pretend to be my boyfriend?" MetalMan felt as if he was sucker punched in the face upon hearing what she was asking of him.
"But why?" he asked.
"I told my friends that I have a nice boyfriend and the last one I had to pretend to be my boyfriend was… something…" the Navi said, remembering a certain blue NetNavi. MetalMan really did not want to waste any time in retrieving the program, but he was also just generally one to help others in need. He gave out a small sigh.
"I'll play along but only if it's quick…"
"Deal!" she said. She grabbed onto his arm and led him to where her friends were. Her friends were quick to notice the massive height difference between her and MetalMan and noticed that both of her arms were wrapped on his hand.
"This is your new boyfriend?!" the green NetNavi asked, clearly shocked at the giant red Navi standing before him. The yellow NetNavi nodded her head.
MetalMan gave a simple wave of his hand. "Yo."
"So how did you two meet?" the pink NetNavi asked.
"There was a really mean HeelNavi who was threatening to delete me…" the female NetNavi began. "I was scared for my life… but then he saved me." MetalMan nodded, trying his best to play along with the girl's story.
"After that, we sort of hit it off. Turns out, he's a big softie." she added. MetalMan did his best to keep a straight face but he felt a small twinge of embarrassment coming over him, as she was technically not wrong.
"So what do you do as a job, big man?" the pink NetNavi asked.
"He's-"
"I guard the Ura Inn from any intruders." Metal interrupted. "The Ura Inn has many areas of relaxation and offers many gifts for sale, so naturally I have to protect its beauty from those who wish to destroy it."
The green and pink NetNavis are impressed at what MetalMan had said.
"So you're a real fighter then? That's impressive."
"How strong are you?"
MetalMan figured it was better to show rather than tell. He picked up the yellow NetNavi and sat her down on his shoulder. He raised his fist up and brought it down to the ground with as much force as he could. The resulting force with the ground caused every NetNavi in the area and even the stores to fly high up into the air before touching the ground again.
"That's…wow…" the pink Navi muttered in shock.
The green NetNavi turned to face his friend, still in awe at MetalMan's power. "Your boyfriend is really strong…" he spoke. "You seem to be in good hands…"
"He's a lot better than that one blue NetNavi in the past, that's for sure." the pink NetNavi added.
"Thanks." Metal spoke. "Are they referring to MegaMan?"he thought to himself.
"It was a pleasure meeting you all, and do stop by the Ura Inn at some point." he added. Metal thought that he might as well plug the Ura Inn while he's here, hoping more people visit it. He shook hands with the other NetNavis before flying away with the yellow Navi. Once he got back to the original spot in the square, he set her down.
"Thank you for doing this." the yellow NetNavi spoke. "Here's a little something for your troubles." She handed him a few thousand Zenny and a BattleChip before walking away. Now that there were no more distractions, MetalMan was free to resume his actual goal of buying the repair program. As he got closer to the store, he was stopped by a merchant Navi.
"Would you like a free cup of CyberCoffee, sir?" asked the merchant.
"No thank you, I'm kind of in a hurry." MetalMan responded.
"Nonsense! It's free coffee day! Treat yourself!" the merchant Navi said, and placed a cup into the hands of the red Navi. MetalMan took a quick swig of his drink before tossing it into the trash can and finally made it to the program store.
"Hello, sir. What can I get you?" asked the shop owner.
"A repair program."
"Certainly, sir. That will be 1200 Zenny."
As MetalMan was about to give the money to the vendor, he heard a large explosion nearby. Taking a small glance, he was able to spot that it was another NetNavi responsible for the damage and terrorizing the other NetNavis in the area. MetalMan activated his rocket thrusters at full capacity and began charging at the source of the threat at high speeds before coming into close contact with it and delivering a swift punch to it. Once MetalMan, got a better view at who was causing all this, he saw that it was BeastMan responsible for the damage in the area.
"You again…" MetalMan muttered, agitated at BeastMan's actions.
BeastMan roared at MetalMan. The savage Navi sharpened his claws before directly lunging at the red Navi and slashing at him. MetalMan stepped back a bit from the pain of Beast's attack but he was not going to let that stop him. He's already been distracted enough on his way to the store and he can't keep Tamako waiting any longer, and he was for certain that it was not his time to get deleted.
"Metal Missile!" he shouted, as several rockets began to fly out of his back, and were headed towards BeastMan. BeastMan was able to dodge several of the rockets that were aimed at him, and slashed one apart as he kept trying to attack MetalMan. He used his Jumping Claw technique to close the gap between him and Metal and attempted to slash at him again, but Metal quickly countered his attempt for an attack with a swing of his fist, sending the beast Navi crashing down onto the ground and began to give pursuit. He slammed his fist onto BeastMan's body once more and dragged him across the ground before throwing him to the side. BeastMan got back up, and was more furious than before. BeastMan let out a loud roar, as he quickly separated his limbs.
"Where could he be?" the red Navi questioned.
MetalMan began to survey the area, searching for his enemy. It all seemed too quiet, and BeastMan was certainly not a Navi to retreat. He took notice of an incoming claw headed his way, and he took one of his own metal blades and gave it a swing, swatting the incoming claw away. Another claw was headed his way, but it managed to slash him this time and he staggered back before BeastMan managed to reappear once again and continued his barrage of attacks towards MetalMan. The attacks were beginning to wear the red Navi down, as the pressure was beginning to mount on him so he used his rocket thrusters once more to propel himself up into the air to keep his distance from BeastMan while he could quickly think of a plan.
"The BattleChip I was given… it just might come in handy." MetalMan thought to himself. "I just need to get him away for a bit…"
The beast began his pursuit on MetalMan as he watched him fly high into the air, and leapt into the air once more. Metal saw Beast approaching him and prepared to retaliate by using his two metal blades and chucking them at the enemy. Beast was able to dodge the first blade but the second one managed to hit him, distracting him long enough for MetalMan to fly over to him and grab him by the legs. MetalMan began to swing BeastMan around in a circle before throwing him into the air and rushing over to him.
"Metal Break!"
His fist emitted an intense blue energy before striking his enemy dead-on, with the intensity of the attack being so great that it set BeastMan on fire as he was slammed into the ground, leaving behind a trail of flames. MetalMan landed on the ground, seeing the large crater on the ground. He finally used the BattleChip he had obtained earlier and waited to see if BeastMan was still going.
Sure enough, the beast picked himself up from the damage and let out a war cry of rage. MetalMan stood his ground one last time as he saw BeastMan's eyes be filled with nothing but pure rage and hatred. BeastMan lunged forth at MetalMan one more time, prepared to hit him dead on. Before his claws could connect, MetalMan caught his claws in place, putting the two in an intense struggle. Beast began to put more power into his attack, hoping that Metal would eventually falter. His claws began to inch closer towards Metal, getting closer to finishing him off until he noticed a new look of confidence on his opponent's face. In one movement, MetalMan was able to crush the claws of BeastMan into little pieces as his arm transformed into a sword and he swung the blade three times at his foe, deleting BeastMan for good.
"So that BattleChip was AntiSword… convenient…" he said, panting heavily from the encounter. The area was pretty badly damaged, but there were no casualties thankfully. All the other NetNavis began to applaud for the red Navi.
"Thank you sir for defending us from BeastMan." said the merchant.
"It was nothing… now about that repair program."
"Please take it. It's on the house."
Finally, having the program in his hands, MetalMan was finally able to go back home. He jacked out immediately and returned back to his PET. He was worn out but it was finally over.
"Tamako, I finally have the program…" the red Navi spoke to his operator.
"You do? Thank you, MetalMan." she replied. Tamako noticed how much damage her Navi had received since she can see slash marks all over him. "Goodness, what happened to you?"
"It's a long story…" he spoke. He collapsed on the floor, tired.
With no more time to waste, Tamako rushed over to the lobby and used the repair program on the old TV, and sure enough it was finally functioning as intended. Kimie and Mamoru strolled over to see that the TV was finally operational again.
"Thanks, Tamako."
"Don't thank me, thank MetalMan." She held up her PET towards them so they could see him. They applauded for him.
"It was no trouble…" said MetalMan, still exhausted at everything.
"You deserve quite the rest." his operator told him. MetalMan just closed his eyes and began to recover from everything that transpired from today. "I do have one question though, MetalMan."
"What is it, Tamako?"
"Who was that girl you were with?" she asked. MetalMan's eyes opened in shock. There was a lot of explaining he had to do…
