Welcome to the first side chapter! I almost scrapped this, and still don't really like how it turned out, but I decided to put it in anyway. Thanks for the review ravengal, fire and gasoline sounds about right.

FYI this side chapter is Pikabun.

Disclaimer: I don't own Pokémon.

Pikachu POV:

"Pignite, use Flame Charge. Pikachu, use Iron Tail."

"Pika (Got it)" I replied to Ash. I watched Pignite stomp the ground, flames surrounding him as he ran at me. I honestly had no idea how he didn't pass out from the added heat since we had been training for hours under the bright sun!

I brought an arm up to my face and wiped the sweat off my forehead as I hardened my tail. Pignite was closing in now, and I was waiting for the right time to move. 'Not yet…not yet…now!' I thought as I jumped up into the air, successfully dodging the fiery attack from Pignite. Then I swung my hardened tail downwards, smashing Pignite in the shoulder. There was no reason to hurt him since this wasn't an actual battle, hence the shoulder.

I landed behind him, panting from exertion. I wasn't sure either of us could continue. "Good job guys, you looked great!" said Ash. "Let's be done for now though. You both look like you could use a rest."

'Oh thank Arceus!' I thought as I immediately left before Ash had a chance to reconsider. I saw Bun-Bun under a tree with Piplup. In the cool shade. Without further thought, I started walking over there, albeit slowly. Apparently I was even more drained then I thought.

"Bleh, that's so gross!" I heard Piplup say, then he walked off a moment later. I couldn't help but feel thankful for this. I hadn't told him, or anybody, about me and Bun-Bun yet, so now we would have some privacy.

As soon as I reached her under the tree, she immediately cuddled up to me. "You know I'm all smelly and sweaty" I said. "It's getting into your fur." She didn't stop cuddling me, instead snuggling her face into my chest.

"I like it, it smells like you" she replied. "My sweet and sweaty Pika." I sighed, not understanding how I was desirable like this. She may be my mate, but she was also weird.

I stiffened a little as I remembered we were outside and in plain view of everyone. Bun-Bun looked up from my chest at me in confusion. "What's wrong?"

"We're in public, not so cuddly" I told her. I didn't want anyone drawing the right conclusions, I wasn't ready to make my personal life public. She frowned at this.

"I know you want to keep us private for now" she began. "But when are you going to tell everyone, Pika? You know it's hard on me to stay quiet." She leaned up close to my ear. "Especially with as sexy a guy as yourself."

I blushed at this, causing Bun-Bun to giggle. She knew how to trigger me whenever she wanted. Not that I minded.

"Okay, we can cuddle if that's what you want" I relented, both of us sitting down. She laid her head down on my chest, sighing in contentment. I leaned back against the tree, feeling a cool gust of wind blow across my damp forehead. My eyes closed as I smelled the salty ocean breeze. I took a deep breath and allowed my mind to shut off and my body to finally relax.

This was perfect.

"You think you're better than me?" I heard Piplup scream. Both Bun-bun and I jumped in surprise at the commotion, the peace utterly ruined.

Well, there goes our special moment.

I looked over and saw Piplup and Oshawott going at it again. I was starting to think they'd never give it a break. "Then let's battle. One hour, behind the villa, just you and me. Then you'll see just how superior I am to you, clown-face!"

I winced at this. I knew being called "Clown-face" was a huge personal insult to Oshawott. Piplup didn't know about the terrible history that nickname had. I jumped to my feet, cheeks sparking with electricity as I readied a very long-range thunderbolt to keep them from hurting each other.

"Fine! I'll take you out and humiliate you in the process, you giant pile of Trubbish!" I watched him stomp off towards the villa, my cheeks no longer sparking. That had been a minor reaction from him, and I was thankful for it. I really didn't want to have to break up a fight being as tired as I was. Although I was surprised at how restrained Oshawott had been.

"Well it looks like you have a battle to moderate in an hour" Bun-Bun stated, standing up next to me. "Pika the peacekeeper is needed once again." She giggled at that, causing me to blush lightly.

"You have no idea how much restraint Oshawott just displayed at Piplup calling him a Clown-face. That has a deep personal history to it. I'm surprised there wasn't a vicious fight that broke out." I sighed. "I think one of them is going to end up injured soon."

"I think they're going to be lovers soon."

What? Where did that come from?

"What? Why would you even think that? How could you even think that?" I was dumbfounded.

"Let's just call it a girl's intuition" she smiled after saying that. "I'll even bet you on it."

Bet on them? It didn't seem right, but I was curious about this. "I don't see how you could even think you'd win. But, if I said yes, what wager did you have in mind?"

Bun-Bun gave me a seductive grin. She then whispered into my ear, causing me to turn bright red. "Um, I-I'd be okay with that" I squeaked out. Her carefree, happy mood came right back after that.

"You should go get ready for their battle; our time together will have to wait. Go keep the peace Pika!"

I sighed at this. Talk about a mood swing! I left the tree, and her embrace, and made my way towards the villa. I was getting a cold drink before they tried to kill each other.

This day had just become so surreal.
