I apologize for the shortness of this chapter, I had an awful time writing the battle scene. A big thank you to ravengal, I didn't think about adding Piplup's history, but it fits perfectly. I'm glad the humor with Buneary was well received. I've never written a lemon, VGS2, but I might try later if there's interest. It wouldn't be in here, though. I like the T rating. Maybe a side story.
Disclaimer: I don't own Pokémon.
Piplup POV:
It was no longer a peaceful, sunny day. Dark clouds had moved in and the wind was quickly increasing, thunder rumbling in the distance. The weather had changed quite suddenly, and it was obvious a powerful storm was approaching. How powerful I wasn't sure, but it wouldn't stop me from crushing Oshawott in my battle!
I arrived at the villa about ten minutes early, still very angry at him. How dare he call me beak-face! Nobody insulted my beak. NOBODY!
I stood in the middle of the outdoor battlefield, waiting. Then I heard another rumble of thunder in the distance, flinching slightly at the sound. As a water type, I was vulnerable to electricity. It didn't deter me, however. I'd just have to make quick work of Oshawott, before the storm hit.
As I was planning my battle strategy, it started to rain lightly, just enough to darken the earthen battlefield. I felt some concern now, it seemed the storm was moving faster than I thought. I might be battling in poor weather conditions.
To my relief, I heard footsteps approaching me from behind.
"Hey Piplup." I turned around and saw Pikachu behind me, under the cover of the villa's roof. Not who I had hoped for. He had a concerned look on his face. "I don't think you should battle right now. This storm is not natural."
I wouldn't admit it out loud, but he was probably right. The speed and the intensity of this storm wasn't normal. Regardless, I wasn't about to let that stop me. "Why not battle now?" I asked him.
Pikachu maintained his concerned expression. "There was no chance of a storm today, according to the weatherman on TV" he said. "Plus, I'm an electric type, and can feel the energy in the area. The power of the storm feels like that of a Legendary Pokémon."
Legendary Pokémon? I didn't know they gave off different energy waves, or that Pikachu could detect energy like that. I hesitated at this new information. I really wanted to Drill Peck Oshawott a new one, but Legendaries were not to be trifled with, and it was best to stay out of their way.
"That doesn't matter. I said I wanted to battle Oshawott, and I will!" I declared, making up my mind. It wasn't the smartest idea, I knew. But I was too stubborn to back down.
"Don't be an idiot Piplup. This isn't the time to battle" Pikachu replied to me with a frown on his face. I knew he was right, but I wasn't going to listen to him. He probably knew that.
Suddenly the clouds opened up and it started to really rain. Wind gusts whistled through the trees, tearing some of their leaves off in the process. Thunder clapped in the distance, much closer than before. Maybe only a few miles away.
"Come inside Piplup, before you get struck by lightning" Pikachu urged, shouting over the wind. I snorted at this, although I doubt he heard it.
"The odds of that happening are the same as me growing a pair of wings" I yelled back at him. "It's not gonna happen."
"He's right, Piplup" a new voice yelled at me. I saw Oshawott approaching Pikachu, stopping at his side. Finally, he was here! "It's not smart to battle right now."
I was infuriated by this. He finally shows up but refuses to battle me! Well I wasn't about to let that happen!
"Are you really that much of a wimp? We're water types, a little rain won't hurt us!" I yelled at him, trying to taunt him into battling me.
"Are you crazy? It's dangerous out here right now! Let's go inside, we can battle after this storm's over, when you won't get injured" he yelled back. I was surprised he didn't sound angry. He actually sounded like he truly cared about me and didn't want to see me get hurt. I felt my heart flutter a bit at this thought.
I almost fell for it.
Almost.
"It's not dangerous, you idiot! Now will you come battle me?"
"No" he yelled at me flatly. "I won't battle you."
I was seething now. How dare he refuse to battle me!
"Battle me!"
"No."
"Fight me!"
"No."
"YOU'RE A COWARD, CLOWN-FACE!"
Suddenly I was in absolute pain as a powerful Thunderbolt hit me without warning. I screamed as electricity shot through my body, frying every single one of my nerves. Although the pain was amplified by my water typing, I knew this wasn't Pikachu's Thunderbolt: This Thunderbolt was so much stronger.
When it finally ended, I swayed on the spot and fell on my back.
Consciousness was quickly leaving me, many stars dancing across my vision. I heard both Pikachu and Oshawott yell out my name in panic, their footsteps echoing on the wet dirt as they ran towards me.
The last thing I saw was a yellow figure high above me in the clouds.
