Thanks for the review VGS2, I'm trying to add original content to the anime storyline as well. We'll see how it goes.

Disclaimer: I don't own Pokémon.

Piplup POV:

I groggily opened my eyes and instantly regretted it. I felt aching pain all over my body, even though I was lying down on what felt like a bed. The room was spinning wildly in my vision, and I had a massive headache. I groaned as I felt some paralysis in my joints. That was one powerful Thunderbolt.

And damn did it hurt.

I groaned again as I forced myself to sit up, fighting back a wave of nausea. After a minute or so, the spinning slowed down and finally stopped. I looked at my surroundings and recognized I was inside a room of the Undella Pokémon Center. Dawn must have brought me here while I was out.

I looked around and saw I was alone in the room. Looking over to a window, I only saw darkness. 'It must be nighttime' I thought. I wondered if anyone was awake; and how long I was out.

The door opened and Pikachu walked in, pausing once inside. It couldn't have been that late if he was up. "You're awake" Pikachu said, turning back towards the door. "I'll tell the others."

"Wait" I called out and he stopped, turning back to face me. "I have a couple of questions. First, how long was I out?"

"Only several hours, not too long. You scared us, especially Dawn, really bad. She's pretty upset right now, and I'm sure she'll tell you about it later."

"Yeah, she will" I replied. Knowing her, I'd be getting a monologue about how I was being incredibly stupid and selfish and should know better. There likely would be yelling too. And I deserved it. I knew battling in a storm was a stupid idea, let alone one as extreme as that one was.

But enough with the self-reprimanding. I still had a question for Pikachu.

"Also, did you see what attacked me?" I asked him. "I could tell that was a Thunderbolt and not a natural lightning strike." Hopefully he got a better look at the attacker.

Pikachu grimaced. "That wasn't a Thunderbolt, Piplup. That was an outright Thunder attack." I looked down at my tingling knees. That made more sense with the paralysis I was feeling. Thunder caused paralysis much easier than Thunderbolt. "You must have really pissed Zekrom off." I snorted at this in rebellious pride. It was no secret I enjoyed getting under other's skin sometimes. Still, I knew it wasn't Zekrom who attacked me.

"It wasn't Zekrom" I told him. "The Pokémon I saw was yellow."

Pikachu was suddenly eerily silent, causing the feathers on my neck to stand up. I looked up and saw him glaring at me. I quickly realized his thinking and held my flippers out in front of me. "I'm not saying it was you! I know it wasn't!"

Pikachu relaxed and stopped glaring at me, then looking thoughtful. "Interesting. I was attacked by Zekrom on my first day in Unova, at Professor Juniper's lab in Nuvema Town. I just assumed that was it again." Geez, it seemed that Ash and Pikachu were a legendary Pokémon magnet, possibly literally with Zekrom being part electric itself!

"No, the Pokémon I saw was yellow, not black. I'm sure of it."

"Well okay, if you say so. We may never know who it was." He didn't sound convinced but seemed to let it go.

"Or why" I added.

"It's because you were being a complete idiot!" a feminine voice yelled, causing me to jump. My attention snapped to the door as Buneary walked in, frustration and anger radiating off her in a way I had never seen before. She stomped right past Pikachu, stopping once she was nose to beak with me. She was trying to intimidate me for some reason.

And boy was it working.

"You were attacked for being an absolute jerk to Oshawott" she yelled, glaring into my eyes. "All he's done is be nice and watch out for you. All you've done is insult and provoke him! I'm surprised you weren't fried more, you deserved it!"

I sat there in silence with her face pressed right against mine, gawking at what she said. What? Why? How the heck was I supposed to respond?

Pikachu also looked at Buneary with shock all over his face. This was so uncharacteristic of her.

"What?" I squeaked pathetically.

Buneary then pulled her face away and engulfed me in a crushing hug. "I was so worried about you. Don't ever do that again!"

She was hugging me so tight I was having a hard time breathing. I wondered where she had got those muscles from. It didn't help that I already had some paralysis limiting my ability to resist her grip. Maybe that's why she was suddenly so strong.

"Ack, Buneary…can't…breathe…" I choked out.

She let go upon hearing me and I gasped for air. She quickly got nose to beak with me again, like she was at first.

"Don't you dare do something so stupid again, you idiot!" With that she turned away and started walking towards Pikachu like nothing even happened.

Seriously, what was with her ridiculous mood swings? It was getting worse too.

"Good, you're awake Piplup" I heard a new voice say. I looked and saw Dawn standing in the doorway. "We need to talk Piplup. Alone."

'Aw crud' I thought. She looked ticked off and I knew she was about to berate me.

And I deserved it.

Pikachu got the hint and started walking out. He cast a sympathetic glance at me over his shoulder. He stopped, however, when he realized Buneary wasn't following him. She wasn't moving, only glaring at me again.

"Buneary Bun (He's done nothing but be nice to you. Think about that)." She finally turned away from me and walked up to Pikachu. "Bun (Let's go babe)." Pikachu stood there in shock.

"Pika (Not in front of him)" he whispered to her.

"Bun. Buneary. (Oh Relax. I already told him about us.)" Pikachu went rigid as Buneary left the room.

"PIKA!? (YOU TOLD HIM!?)" Pikachu shouted as he followed her out, Dawn shutting the door behind them. There was more yelling between them, but I could no longer understand it as the closed door muffled their words.

Dawn sighed, massaging her temples before looking straight at me. "What were you thinking? Battling in a storm, and without a trainer! I hope you realize how stupid that was. I was so worried seeing you on the battlefield smoking from the lightning strike! Do you have any idea how terrifying that was for me?!"

"Pip (I'm sorry)" I apologized softly, looking down at my feet. I hadn't meant to upset her after all. I felt her sit next to me on the bed.

"Don't do it again, okay?" I looked up at her and saw a warm smile on her face. "I'm glad you're not seriously hurt."

So much for that monologue, I was lucky to have such a kind trainer. I went to hug her but felt my joints were too stiff and painful to do so. Dawn sighed sadly and looked at me sadly. "Nurse Joy said you were paralyzed badly, and it won't be fully gone for a day or two. So, take it easy." I sat back down, upset about not being fully functional, but glad it wasn't a long-term thing. "Hey, don't worry Piplup. You'll be fine." I smiled; she always knew the right thing to say.

"Listen, I'm planning to have us take a trip tomorrow. Jervis told me about a place called Onix Island. If, and only IF, Nurse Joy says you're alright to come, I need you to at least try to get along with Ash's Oshawott, okay? It's important to me."

"Pip (Okay)" I confirmed, nodding my head. Dawn smiled at me as she got up from the bed and walked towards the door.

"You're staying here tonight so the Audino can keep an eye on you. No arguments, got it?" I frowned, but I knew it was for the best. Not to mention fair. She turned to me at the door as she was leaving. "See you in the morning Piplup. Rest well." With that, she left, closing the door behind her.

I flopped back on the bed and sighed. Even with all that had happened, there was only one thing on my mind. One Pokémon.

Oshawott.
