Extended Family

Chapter 158 – Getting Bigger

Takes place shortly after chapter 155.

"Ron?"

"Hmm?" Ron looked up his book and smiled at his wife. "What's up?"

"Do you remember how long it took for the houses to be built in the village?"

Ron squinted a little, thinking back. "I think on average about two weeks or so? Depending on the house. Like Luna's didn't take as long as say Harry's because her's is smaller. I think Fleur's took a bit but they built it to standards for governmental officials and the like. But Tracy's company does good work and I think the crew that builds the houses there are always the same and they're really good at it. They come out for repairs and stuff too."

"Oh that's good," Hannah said with relief. "That's plenty of time."

"What's the rush?" Ron asked, going back to his book. "We're still comfy here at the top of the Cauldron."

"Oh for now, yes," she said, sitting beside him.

He looked at her again. "For now?" he repeated. "Are you kicking me out or are we renovating again? Or redecorating again?"

She smiled at him. "No, I can wait to decorate the new place." Her smile grew wider with a hint of something else in it. "Remember when we said when we'd move to the village?"

"Yeah," Ron said, frowning. "Either we were tired of living here at the Cauldron, we for some reason decided to not work here or own it anymore, or if when we're having our own kids." He looked at her. "We're not selling the Cauldron."

"Nope."

"We still like it here…"

"For now, yes," Hannah hummed.

Ron blinked a few times. "Are you saying you're pregnant?"

She nodded hesitantly, looking shy and nervous.

"We're going to have a baby?" Ron asked in a very small voice.

She nodded slowly. She nearly fell off the bed when Ron yelled and jumped up and down.

"We're having a baby! We're pregnant!" he cheered at the top of his lungs, laughing loudly and merrily. He caught her before she fell off the bed and hugged her tightly. "I mean you're pregnant of course but we're having a baby that you're having but it's ours and oh Merlin am I hugging you too hard and-"

Hannah at this point was laughing hysterically and she stopped his babbling by kissing him on the lips. Her worries evaporated in Ron's obvious good cheer and she felt so much better. "I'm pregnant! Not sick or anything and even when I'm super pregnant I'll be tougher than you!"

"Well yeah," Ron agreed, a big goofy smile plastered all over his face. "We're going to have a little you!"

"And a little you," she said warmly, tearing up slightly.

He kissed the tears away. "Hopefully more you than me," he joked. "Oh this is so cool! I can't wait and it's going to be amazing and we can run this place and have a family and all that!"

"I know we will," Hannah said, an equally huge smile on her lips. "I'm telling you right now though, I'm not having as many children as you have sibs."

"Oh I hope not," Ron said and they laughed merrily. "I'll contact Tracy tomorrow and…" he looked at the mirror on the nightstand and looked at her.

"Go on then," she said warmly. She laughed as he leapt for it and grabbed it when he jostled the nightstand and it fell, catching it before it hit the ground.

"Parry Hotter, I mean Hairy Otter, I mean, speccy git!" Ron babbled.

"Speccy git?!" Hannah shrieked, laughing as the mirror's surface undulated.

"It works!" Ron said defensively. "HARRY!"

"RON!" Harry shouted back. "What?! What's wrong? Did you get deafened again? If so, Chudley will always be at the bottom of the League."

"First of all, no I wasn't deafened. Second of all, you suck," Ron sniffed.

"I didn't say anything that isn't true," Harry grinned. "Hi Hannah!"

"Hi Harry!" Hannah gasped, laughing so hard she fell flat on the bed.

"Well what do you want?" Harry asked with good humor. "It's late."

"I've something really important to tell you!" Ron took a deep breath, gratified to see Harry become serious. "I'm pregnant!"

"Congrats," Harry said with a bemused expression. "With what? Emotion? Too much food?"

Ron sighed, catching Hannah as she nearly rolled off the bed cackling. "I mean, we're pregnant," he sniffed in an attempt to recapture dignity.

"Wait, like Hannah's pregnant?" Harry asked. His eyes widened. "You two are going to have a kid?!"

"Yes!"

"CONGRATULATIONS!" Harry shouted, an even wider smile on his lips. "KATIE! KATIE COME HERE!"

Ron and Hannah hugged each other hard, smiling and tearing up as Harry's voice could be easily heard.

"What?! What's wrong?!" Katie ran to Harry and looked into the mirror too. "Is everything okay?!"

"RON'S PREGNANT!" Harry shouted, making Hannah shriek with renewed laughter and Ron groan.

"With what?" Katie asked before her eyes widening. "Oh! OH! You and Hannah are pregnant?! CONGRATULATIONS!" she yelled.

"Thank you!" Ron exclaimed.

"This is so exciting!" Katie smiled. "Oh we need to get your house started!"

"That's not why I called," Ron said weakly, "though we were just thinking about it."

"You were the first we told," Hannah smiled, "well, Ron told."

"Really?" Harry gasped.

"Well yeah, you're my best mate and brother," Ron said.

Harry's smile lit up the mirror and the room. "Same for me! This is going to be so awesome!"

"WHY ARE WE YELLING?!" The mirror's image moved and was angled down and Dahlia stood there in her pajamas.

"LOUD NOISES!" Iris shouted happily, also dressed for bed.

"HI UNCLE RON AND AUNTIE HANNAH!" the girls shouted, seeing the two of them in the mirror.

"Your Uncle Ron called to give us amazing news," Katie smiled.

"He's pregnant!" Harry beamed.

"Pregnant? Like having a baby?" Dahlia gasped. "CONGRATULATIONS!"

"You're going to have a new baby sibling to play with," Hannah said happily.

"See how she didn't take me literally?!" Ron said indignantly.

"I hope you didn't want to keep it a secret because she just ran out of the house and is running for George and Angelina's," Harry said, watching as Dahlia did indeed run shrieking out of the house, followed by Iris.

"It wasn't going to be," Ron laughed.

"Come on over!" Katie said. "Let's celebrate!"

"Sounds good to me!" Hannah smiled. She and Ron went through the Floo and appeared at the Potter home, right into the arms of Katie and Harry. Ron groaned as he looked out the open door and saw Dahlia and Hailey running out of the Weasley home screaming 'Uncle Ron's pregnant!" at the top of their lungs as they ran to the Wood home.

"Yeah, that's never going away," Harry grinned, arm around Ron's shoulders.

In a very short time, the Potter home was full of people. The members of the village were there of course and the other Weasleys who did not live there showed up after the briefest of mirror calls. Everyone was chatting and cheering and despite the late hour, smiles were everywhere.

"Ah ah," George tutted, taking the glass out of Ron's hands. "You're pregnant!"

"Which is a good thing because I was worried about…that," Fred said, gesturing at Ron's midsection.

"But now we know you've been eating for two-"

"-three even maybe given the size and our family predilection for twins-"

"-three maybe and we know it's gauche to comment on a pregnant person's physique but we are family so we are allowed to make certain comments-"

"-and know that it comes from a place of genuine care and concern for your health and the baby's!"

"Hey! I'm in great shape!" Ron protested, lifting his shirt.

"Put it away, no one wants to see it," Bill scolded.

"There're children around!" Ginny gasped.

"In here too!" Charlie said, gently rubbing Ron's stomach.

Percy smiled and said nothing, instead patting Ron on the back and hugging Hannah fondly.

"Alright, that's enough," Arthur smiled as the Weasley siblings started to do what they did best.

"I'm just so happy!" Molly said very loudly. "Our family keeps growing!"

"And allow me to remind the rest of you something," George said, drawing Ron to his side. "Because, now, the divide grows and another joins me in august company to prove the sheer difference between us and you lot."

"What does that mean?" Ginny frowned.

"Simple facts," George sniffed. "We've contributed to the next generation and you all haven't and no Charlie, the dragons at the preserve aren't your babies."

"Hey yeah!" Ron put his arm around George's shoulders and joined his brother in looking superiorly at their siblings.

"That didn't take long," Oliver smiled, seeing the new squabble starting.

"George uses that all the time and it's fairly effective," Angelina laughed.

"How are you feeling?" Alicia asked.

"My face hurts from smiling," Hannah said and they all laughed and smiled with her. "I was a little nervous to see how Ron would react. Not that I expected anything bad, but you know."

"Oliver fainted," Alicia said.

"Which time?" Daphne smiled.

"All three," Oliver smiled.

"Three?!" the others gasped and Alicia gave Oliver a look of horror and confusion.

"When you told me about the time you visited Harry," Oliver said. "When you told him about being engaged."

"I nearly forgot about that!" Alicia cried and stomped on Harry's foot.

"It was a joke!" Harry yelped, hopping up and down.

Katie laughed hysterically while Alicia pummeled Harry with smacks and bit him on the arm as he tried to fend her off. "Harry was so happy each time," she said lovingly. "Each time had the same reaction."

"George had to tell me about the twins," Angelina said, shaking her head. "I didn't even think it was that but he put it in my head and I got checked and there it was. He said he knew because his twin senses were tingling. Apparently it's a thing when sets of twins are near each other."

"Daphne made me run to catch up to her," Tracy sighed. "I hate running. But it was definitely great news! And she didn't believe me when I said I was."

"You said it for five days in a row!" Daphne exclaimed, flushing. "I did not know if you were being serious!"

Tracy dodged irritable poking and smiled at Hannah. "I'll call in the crew tomorrow morning. We already have the materials waiting. They'll give them a once over to make sure they're up to spec and start laying things out. Did you two have any changes you want to the designs?"

"I don't think so," Hannah said. "It's been a bit since we looked at them though."

"We'll all meet at your home site," Tracy said. "We'll go over them before they start everything else. All of the foundation work is the same no matter the shape of the foundation so there'll be plenty of time to go over things before they break ground."

"Sounds wonderful," Hannah said happily. She smiled when Dahlia hugged her and put her ear to her abdomen. "The baby isn't big enough for that just yet Dally."

"Oh okay, I just liked doing this when Iris and Lucas were little," Dahlia said.

Hannah hugged her and kissed her forehead. "You're going to be an amazing big sister. We all know you are now, but my little one is going to be so lucky."

Dahlia clapped her hands, beaming. "I can't wait!"

"Oh my goodness," Hannah gasped, "it's only been a week!"

"My crew does good work," Tracy said smugly.

The new home was very close to being completely finished. It was very comfortable looking, with a stone base and wood walls leading up to the second and third floor. The garden for the front and the back was large and there were a few trees dotted about. Despite it being new, it already looked comfortably lived in, the atmosphere warm and inviting.

Tracy took them on a tour through it. "Honestly having an Accomplished Transfiguration Master consultant has done wonders for the business. We're able to do things in different ways for reduced costs for both parties while keeping high quality and safety. So that's how things can get better for everyone. Basically everything is finished, the extra charms for durability and cleaning and safety. We have a new package for it too, with the heightened durability and safety charms."

"Is it the Weasley package?" Hannah asked innocently and Ron groaned.

"Not saying that there isn't a grain of truth in that," Tracy grinned, "but it's not called that for legal and propriety reasons. We call it the bare twidnium."

"That fits," Ron laughed. He looked around as they walked through the cellar. "I guess not all the rooms made it into the final design?"

"What's missing?" Hannah asked, concerned.

"Ah actually, everything did make it in." Tracy opened a door in the cellar, revealing a small but comfortable room that had eye-watering orange paint on the walls. "One of the crew is also a die-hard Cannon and so they made sure to make the room nice for you. The paint is permanent too."

"Brilliant!" Ron looked indecently happy and Hannah snorted.

"We put it in the cellar to hide it more," Tracy winked.

"Thank you," Hannah mouthed and smiled and batted her eyelashes at Ron as he pouted.

"And as you know, you guys are right across the way from Harry's place," Tracy said when they left the home. "Close to the apparition anchor point and once we finish the Floo place, we'll hook it up directly to your private Floo at the Cauldron. And you're directly opposite of George's place who's on the other side of Harry. Fred's eventual place is on the other side of that and Percy hasn't decided on a distinct plot yet."

"And not far from the Quidditch pitch at all," Ron smiled.

Hannah hugged him and looked around. "I know we've visited a lot and stayed over here and there through the years, but this place already feels like home."

"How I felt when we first visited and it's only ever felt more like that every day," Tracy smiled. They looked over as they heard a loud sound growing louder.

"What are they doing?" Ron asked, an expression of pure befuddlement on his face. The trio watched Dahlia, Hailey, and Hadley lead the younger sibs around the newly built home, banging on a drum and a gong.

"Keeping it safe from bears," Tracy smiled fondly.

"There's bears around?!" Hannah gasped.

"No! Sorry, it's from a camping thing a few years ago. Sirius and Tonks were winding Dahlia up about bears at the campsite and gave her an anti-bear drum and gong," Tracy laughed.

"Oh my gosh they're so cute," Hannah gushed.

"Thanks Dilly," Ron smiled as the little ones scampered up to them after they finished the anti-bear patrol. "It's safe from bears now?"

"Yup! Only teddy bears are allowed," Dahlia said.

Ron's smile faded as he looked at his nieces and nephew who looked a touch too innocent to him. "Did you three do anything?"

"Define anything," they said together.

"What did your Dad tell you to do?" Ron said accusingly.

"He tells us a lot of things," they retorted.

"I better check it out," Ron said and went to the home, ignoring Hailey, Abby, and Alex's attempts at holding him back and the others gleefully piled on. The children shrieked with laughter as Ron easily kept walking, hefting the children over his shoulder and handily ignoring the ones clinging to his arms and legs.

"There are some mild anti-pranking charms in the twidnium package," Tracy said to a laughing Hannah. "Not a lot because it's kinda hard to account for pranks entirely you know, not to mention Fred and George's pranks can outwit all sorts of things, but there are some. Also there's a chance that they didn't actually do anything but are pretending they did. Apparently reverse psychology is an excellent way to prank someone."

"Do they really do very strange and wonderful things on a regular basis here?" Hannah asked seriously.

"Pretty much. You get used to it in the sense you stop asking why and just go with it," Tracy smiled. "It's like the best part of living here honestly."

"Can't wait," Hannah sighed softly.

"This is our home," Hannah said, looking around.

They had finally moved in. The house was finished and fully inspected and given a grade of passing with flying colors. Others in the village came and helped clean it from top to bottom, assisted by Molly and Hannah's mother Julie.

Moving day was a day that looked utterly chaotic but went surprisingly smooth. So many people were moving about and helping shrink and unshrink things, make many trips between the Cauldron and the new home, constantly bumping into each other and lots of chatting. But nothing went missing and things were arranged just so and things were finally done.

"We haven't been here a full day yet and it feels like home," Hannah said happily.

"It really does," Ron smiled. He hugged his wife and held her close. "I still can't believe we own the place."

"It's wonderful," Hannah said happily. "I don't have to worry about something going on downstairs anymore. At least beyond the family here."

"No more people getting lost and knocking on the door," Ron laughed.

She sighed. "This is perfect."

"It is," he agreed, "and will be even more perfect."

"Come in!" Hannah called out. She smiled as the door opened and Katie walked in carrying Lucas and Dahlia and Iris walked with her, carrying baskets. "Hi!"

"Hello!" Katie smiled warmly and the girls waved cheerily. "We brought food and things and wanted to see if you would like some company."

"I'd love some," Hannah smiled. "I'm so used to moving around all day taking care of all sorts of things, sitting down feels wrong somehow." She patted her larger abdomen gently. "Even though it's necessary."

"I get that feeling completely," Katie said sympathetically. "It's definitely hard to get used to at first." She handed Lucas to an eager Hannah and she and the two girls put the food away and tidied up a bit before sitting with the pregnant woman.

"Thank you for everything," Hannah said gratefully.

"You sent us so much food and things before all the time," Katie smiled. "It's only giving back what we got."

"Well yes but being here is so nice and everyone is so friendly and sweet. I was afraid of getting lonely and being a little scared but all of you have been so helpful. I really appreciate it." Hannah shifted a little, letting Iris and Dahlia get more comfortable lying against her as she patted a gurgling Lucas.

"Everyone here is family," Katie said warmly. "You might as well get used to it."

"I certainly can," Hannah said.

"Does the baby have a name yet?" Dahlia asked.

"We have a name for a girl and a boy," Hannah said. "We're waiting for the baby to be born before giving them the name."

"What if the baby is a dragon?" Iris asked.

"Good point, we better have a name ready just in case," Hannah smiled while Katie shook her head.

"Dragon babies are hatched," Dahlia frowned.

"Hedwig sat on Mummy's tummy to help," Iris protested.

"She did do that," Katie smiled. "But it's still a little different."

"We'll come up with a name just in case," Hannah laughed. "Thank you, Rilly."

"Wow, she's beautiful," Harry breathed softly.

"Go on, pick up your goddaughter," Ron encouraged, his smile from ear to ear.

Harry, by now a professional at handling and carrying babies, gently scooped her up and smiled at the tiny yawning bundle. "Hi there," he said softly and sighed when she smiled up at him. "Hello there."

"Wendy, meet your godfather," Ron said proudly. "Harry, this is Wendy Hattie Weasley."

"Wendy Weasley is so cute!" Katie said as she reached out with a finger and smiled when Wendy grabbed it. "Hiii, oh you are so cute."

"It was Hermione's idea actually," Ron smiled. "She lent us that book and we liked the name of the character in it."

"Awww!" Hermione smiled brightly and hugged Ron and Hannah. "I'm so glad and that's such a cute name for such a cute girl. Congrats!"

"Iris is going to be a little disappointed, she was really thinking there might be a dragon baby," Katie giggled.

"Her and Charlie both," Ron laughed.

"You're a lucky girl," Harry chuckled to the baby. "You have amazing parents and a huge extended family that's going to take care of you."

"Yeah she is," Ron said lovingly.

"Mum is going to be so happy," George laughed. "After all of us bloke children and Ginny, we've had three girls for grand-sprogs so far along with my poor outnumbered son."

"She will be happy as long as they are healthy and happy," Percy chided gently. "But it is funny how things are turning out now."

"I see she got most of her good looks from her mum," Fred said, smiling at the baby.

"Thank goodness," Ron exclaimed, making them laugh. "But she's got the red hair!"

"Let's see if she got the Weasley ability for trouble," Bill grinned.

"Or appetite," Ginny giggled.

"No matter what, she's perfect," Ron sighed happily.
