Chapter 3: Really Good Eyes

Review Replies

BoredKing: What a bizarre way to pair Izuku and Toga. The baby stuff is just unnecessary. You could've just had them meet as kids and be childhood friends, it wouldve been 100% more sensible.

And their interactions just don't make sense. They act more like a couple that's been together for a while, not two strangers on their first date.

You also have Toga complaining about being seen as easy, and yet she's fine with sitting in Izuku's lap and almost kissing him when they literally just met earlier that day. Apparently she is easy.

And why would All Might immediately approach Izuku? He has concerns about his blatant disregard for life so shoudlnt he wait and see. Ask if Izuku is planning to be a hero and all that. He basically just told a stranger he knows nothing about his greatest secret.

ThermalsniperN7: Looks like someone hasn't considered anything...

Dragon Emperor0: Shall we rebut this?

ThermalsniperN7: Yep.

Dragon Emperor0: OK. You go first.

ThermalsniperN7: 1st part: Izuku is literally the second coming of Satoru Gojo. We wanted to do justice to that. Got a problem with it? Walk out the door.

Dragon Emperor0: Exactly. Plus All Might outright said that the reason why he wanted Izuku to be his successor was because of the fact that curses were back and running amok. So it was the most logical decision. How does it not make sense?

ThermalsniperN7: 2nd part: Ever see a presumably new face, but feel like you've somehow met them before? That's what's going on.

Dragon Emperor0: Plus Gojo scared the shit out of assassins and cursed spirits on the regs as a six year old. So I fail to see how an infant Izuku here couldn't do something at least adjacently similar.

ThermalsniperN7: 3rd part: Ooh, excuse us for not wanting to do that "will they, won't they" bullshit. Fuck that noise.

Dragon Emperor0: Yeah, plus, we did all the stuff with Himiko's backstory being different to show that the canon version has no bearing here. This is a completely different take. So of course we're taking a lot of creative liberties here.

ThermalsniperN7: 4th part: Cuz All Might is a good judge of character. He wouldn't have gotten as far as he did otherwise.

Dragon Emperor0: Exactly.

Bored King: Second date and already breaking out the rings? Holy ***if that's not a sign to run, I don't know. what is. Some development would be nice, they've barely interacted with each other.

Consistency, this story does not have. Seriously, there are so many instances of someone acting like something happened when it didn't. I'm talking about events that happened in the story that the characters recall (which happens too often anyway) and add or change events randomly.

And the forced canon events are just annoying. There are much better ways to have them happen without forcing them.

I'm done. I gave the story a try and while I would like to read more, I just can't. Half the story is just this bizarre relationship between Izuku and Toga that makes no sense while the rest is just canon being forced in with an Izuku who speaks like a brat bragging about their family.

Dragon Emperor0: Oh boy. Where to begin with this?

ThermalsniperN7: I don't even know... It's like these people don't even know shit sometimes…

Dragon Emperor0: Let's start from the top then: First, we already established that we are not about to do a 'will they, won't they' storyline. Not only because those kinds of stories are absolute hell, but also not least because it wouldn't be in character for these two to be so wishy washy.

Himiko is a girl who has a tendency to fall head over heels for someone very easily—the canon material is full of this—and Izuku, being a lot like Gojo, has already been in several relationships with other girls so he knows his way around the dating scene and knows what he likes. On top of him being the kind of guy who would definitely pursue a long term relationship with a girl if he found her interesting after a first successful date.

ThermalsniperN7: Second: We're fucking trying over here, and you're giving us flak over consistency too early in the story. We aren't perfect!

Dragon Emperor0: And what instances are you even referring to? Can you even cite them or are you just pulling that out of your ass? Plus, have you never heard of the term implied development? It's a thing in writing where small to medium events are sprinkled between assumed time gaps in a story to imply a passage of time to add to the continuity without the threat of bogging down the pacing. These scattered references to off screen events are a smaller version of that. Books, comics, tv and movies do it all the time—it's not our fault you're too blinded by your dumbass preference based assumptions to realize it… Sorry, that got a little too real

ThermalsniperN7: 4th part: Don't wanna read this story anymore? Not our problem. We're not gonna cry over it.

Dragon Emperor0: Yeah. So do us a favor and don't crowd our review section with ultimately negative and unhelpful reviews. That's what assholes do.

Yami-Luna-Kitsune: found this as I was looking for the rest of your SDS stories. This is a pretty great pilot chapter. nice seeing him having ACTUALLY caring parents. sux for her sister, though. nice seeing bakugo not being a bakadouche. himi, even if your father DID want to kill him, it's next to impossible, as he would just end up touching the infinity between him and the target of his bloodlust

ThermalsniperN7: So a happy accident brought you here? Funny how life goes like that. Himiko having caring parents is a favorite AU of ours. And yeah, it sucks for her sister, but… Whoa, almost gave something away, there…

Dragon Emperor0: There are no accidents. And don't worry, Tamiko will have a role to play.

Yami-Luna-Kitsune: pretty good chapter. how the FUCK is KATSUKI able to use cursed energy?! ok, himi's dad pretty much acted like I thought he would. an interesting technique that himi used. Wow, himi's gonna be in for a LONG night. eager to see where this goes

ThermalsniperN7: Izuku taught him a few things, mostly basics to help him out with Cursed Spirit detection. He just built himself up over time from there. And yeah, her old man's behavior is on point.

Dragon Emperor0: Long night is an understatement. You know 'oh yeah' from Ferris Bulor? Expect that to be playing in the morning.

-Izuku's Room-

Izuku was laying in his bed not long after getting his acceptance letter from UA and meeting his girlfriend Himiko Toga's parents, and was just trying to pass the time until he had to go to his first day of school.

Meaning? He was fucking bored.

"God I'm so bored." The boy groaned as he rolled over in his bed.

It was at that moment his phone rang. Taking a look, he saw that Himiko had texted him.

"Are you as bored as I am right now?" She asked, and if there was a tone he could place, she definitely sounded bored.

"Yep." He responded.

"… Wanna go out?" The blonde asked.

"Dagobah Beach has spectacular scenery." Izuku replied. He would know since he made that a thing.

"I do have some short shorts I was hoping to wear today… Alright. The beach it is." Himiko nodded.

"See you there." The blindfolded teen texted before he popped his neck. "Welp, time to go to the beach." He said to himself.

(Later)

Izuku let out a bored yawn as he made his way to the beach, deciding to set up at a covered table and get things for them to have on their date.

"Well, nice to see I had the right idea about the scenery." He mused, looking at the sun which was just peaking over the horizon.

"Hey babe." Himiko smiled as she came up to Izuku from behind.

"Glad you could make it." Izuku smiled as he turned around to get a good look at her.

She was wearing a white shirt with a pair of black shorts that had white stripes.

"Yeah, I was kinda having a hard time picking out something to wear." The blonde nodded as she sat down while the boy set a drink down in front of her.

"One boba milk thai tea with pomegranate pearls." He told her.

"Oh, you knew exactly what to get." The girl gasped in joy.

"Well, we have been dating for ten months at this point." The boy shrugged as he drank his own brown sugar boba tea.

The two of them sat there, enjoying the pleasant silence as they looked at the sunrise while their star rose higher into the sky. It was a pleasant atmosphere, they had to admit.

"I'm glad that you got in." Izuku told the girl as she laid her head on his shoulder.

"I'm glad you got in, too." The blonde sighed in reply. "If both of us didn't get in together, then we'd be lonely for way too long." She continued.

"Eh, I probably would've found some friends eventually." The boy shrugged, getting an indignant look from his girlfriend. "But it just wouldn't be the same without you there." He amended.

"That's what I thought." The shapeshifter huffed. "... But yeah, it wouldn't have been the same." She agreed.

"No, it wouldn't." Izuku nodded as he took her by the hand and pulled her towards him, capturing her lips with his.

As the two made out, they were oblivious to the world around them. This was a good moment, and they had every intention of savoring it.

However, as they separated, Izuku couldn't seem to resist the urge to start kissing his girlfriend down her neckline, as a deep and burning lust for her was starting to build within him.

Himiko couldn't stop herself from moaning, especially since Izuku felt like a master with this. That only made things better, in her opinion.

Still, as much as she was tempted to go at it with him on the beach, she knew that was a disaster waiting to happen.

"Izuku… We shouldn't do this." She groaned, pulling away. "At least… Not here." She amended.

"… Wanna get a hotel room?" He offered.

"You know it." The girl smirked.

With that, the two headed for a love hotel so they could enjoy themselves—and once they got to their chosen room, Izuku was quick to toss his girlfriend on the bed provided by the hotel.

"Come here, you." The boy growled as he pounced on the bed, right on top of the catlike shapeshifter, causing her to squeal with delight as clothes started flying everywhere, and the lights went out.

(Timeskip)

It was finally the first day of school and Izuku was making it a point to get himself packed early so that he'd get there early.

You can't exactly be counted absent if you're there before the teacher even gets there.

"Do you have everything you'll need, sweetie?" Inko asked, wanting to see her son off to his first day at UA.

"Yep." The boy confirmed. "Just need… Here it is." He hummed as he stuffed a green blindfold into his pocket. It would come in handy later.

"Be careful out there. And say hello to Himiko for me." His mother smiled.

"I will." The boy smiled before he left.

(Later)

After arriving at UA, he started looking around for his classroom. He hadn't run into Himiko yet, but he had a feeling he would, soon.

"Jeez, could they have made this place any harder to… Navigate…?" He groaned until he came across a massive door with his class number on it. 'Ya know, given the way quirks are, it's pretty obvious this was made for giants.' He deadpanned mentally.

The second he opened the door…

"Get your feet off that desk this instant!" A voice Izuku knew from the exams exclaimed.

'Oh great…' Izuku mentally groaned in exasperation.

"Huh?" Katsuki questioned, jeering at the teen.

"It's only the first day and you're already disrespecting this institution by scuffing school property, you creton!" The boy barked.

"You're kidding me, right? What, did your old school shove a stick up your ass?" The bomber shot back. "Or were you born with it?" He questioned.

"Why–!" The blue haired teen started to bark before he caught himself. "Let's start over. I'm Tenya Iida from the Somei Private Academy." He said, introducing himself.

"Somei, huh? That must mean you think you're better than me! I'm gonna have fun tearing you a new one!" Katsuki barked.

"You'd threaten me? Your own classmate? Are you sure you're in the right place?" The kid questioned.

"Oh, he's sure." Izuku interjected. "Trust me, I know him well enough to say this is considered his normal behavior." He added.

This caused everyone to turn towards him, which caught the boy off guard for a second, though he made an effort to hide it.

"Hello, I'm Tenya Iida from the Somei—." The boy began.

"Yeah, I heard you when I came in." The Six Eyes teen told him.

"Then may I ask who you are?" The blue haired lad inquired.

"Izuku Midoriya, future Jujutsu Hero." Izuku responded.

"Midoriya, you recognized that there was something more to the exam, didn't you?" Iida questioned.

"… No. I was just jumping in before someone got turned into street spaghetti." The teen replied rather frankly.

"Oh." Was all Iida could say with a blink.

It was then the currently shaded teen felt a familiar pair of arms wrap around his neck.

"Izuku~!" Himiko giggled as she hugged her boyfriend from behind, glad to finally see him.

"I was wondering where you were." Izuku chuckled as his girlfriend let him go, allowing him to turn and peck her on the lips.

"Get a room, you two!" Katsuki jeered.

"We are in a room." Himiko quipped in response.

"Hey Himiko!" Ochako exclaimed as she came up behind the blonde in the hall.

"Ochako!" Himiko beamed, hugging her best friend tightly as she turned around to face her.

"Well, looks like all of us have made it to the Hero Course." Izuku mused. "Now if only our teacher would stop sleeping on the ground and get things moving…" He trailed off.

"You're deceptively aware of your surroundings." A new voice remarked, causing Ochako, Himiko and Iida to snap their heads to the floor and find a hobo-looking man in a yellow sleeping bag laying there.

'The hell?!' The brunette thought in surprise.

"Welcome to the UA Hero course." The man said, drinking something from a pouch.

"Gah!" Himiko exclaimed as she nearly jumped out of her skin.

"Who are you?!" Ochako yelped in surprise.

"That's simple: I'm Shota Aizawa, your teacher for the next three years." The man replied as he got up and went to the front of the class.

'HE'S OUR TEACHER?!' Most of the students thought.

'He sounds done with everything.' Izuku noted in his head.

"Right. Put these on and head outside." The man said, pulling out tracksuits from his sleeping bag, much to everyone's confusion.

"... Uh, sensei, how were you able to sleep in that with twenty uniforms?" Izuku asked on everyone's behalf.

"... I deny you an answer." The man deflected.

"That thing's probably a bag of holding." Katsuki pointed out.

(Later)

"A quirk assessment?" The kids questioned as they stood outside.

"But orientation– We're gonna miss it!" Ochako protested.

"If you're going to hit the big leagues, you can't waste time with pointless ceremonies." Aizawa told them.

"So we're just skipping to the main course. I get it." Izuku nodded with a shrug.

"Now,you'll be taking several tests to see your pot as a hero by gauging how you stack up." Aizawa nodded. "Bakugo, what was your score in a softball throw in middle school?" He questioned.

"About sixty-seven meters, I think." The pomeranian haired teen replied after a moment of thought.

"Try it again, but with your quirk." The scarf wearing man instructed, tossing him a softball. "Anything goes, just stay inside the circle." He added.

"Okay man, you asked for it…" Katsuki shrugged as he took his position. "… Hey, can I use my cursed technique too?" He questioned.

"Sure. We need to test everyone's Jujutsu abilities too, anyway." Aizawa replied with a nod.

"I was hoping you'd say that." Katsuki smirked. Then he reared his arm back and… "DIE!" He roared as he threw the ball with an explosion for extra distance. Then he started charging his Cursed Technique. "Cursed Technique: Cluster Meteor!" He intoned.

This caused the call to be encased in a Russian nesting doll's worth of meteors which detonated at certain amounts of rotation, the largest explosion causing the ball to sail an extra 5 meters and the smallest an extra meter.

The ball then landed soon after, still smoking.

Aizawa then looked at his monitor and showed the results: 721.5 meters. Meaning that the original was 706.5 meters and the Cursed Technique added an extra 15 meters on top of that.

'Pretty decent for a bare bones move, makes me wonder just how powerful and complex his Maximum Meteor or other techniques could become with more added finesse.' The man mused thoughtfully.

"Nice application, Kacchan." The viridian haired teen nodded. "Though I see that just like your quirk, your technique is kind of a basic bitch." He jeered with a chuckle.

"Piss off, Deku!" The bomber barked in response.

"Alright. Listen up. These tests are going to test your potential as a hero. If I find your quirk performance lacking, that means I can expel you here and now. UA allows us teachers to do that." Aizawa told them, causing everyone to tense up. "However, this outcome can be circumvented if you can boost your performance with a cursed technique. Given that Cursed Spirits are on the rise and the profession of Jujutsu Sorcery is still only just coming back, an alternative like that is the most rational course of action." He amended.

'Sounds easy enough.' Izuku thought, adjusting his shades a bit.

"With that said, let's begin." The man nodded.

50 meter dash

The fifty meter dash was up first, and most of the students were doing pretty well, most of them not even having used a cursed technique to boost their performance.

Iida was one to get first place due to his speed based quirk, but a boy with an electrification quirk—Denki Kaminari—was able to place himself close behind him with a Cursed Technique move he called, Electric Slide.

Izuku didn't have such a thing at his disposal, but he could still boost his running speed a bit by channeling Cursed Energy into his legs.

And by using said energy to fortify his legs, he used one for all for an extra boost.

"Burst Speed!" The Pomeranian exclaimed as he blasted away, before going into a barrel roll. "Cursed Technique: Meteor Giga Impact!" He added as he blasted even faster, a comet cone forming around him as he crashed on the ground—creating a crater.

Izuku managed to keep up, if only slightly lagging behind, and come in right behind his rival.

"Gah!" He gasped as he fell to his knees, his legs roaring in protest at his sudden exertion.

Their times were just a second or two apart: 5.39 seconds and 6.99 seconds. All in all, hardly the worst gap.

Standing Long Jump

Here was another nightmare for Izuku's legs. Maybe he could dial it back a bit to lessen things…

Tsuyu Asui and Ochako were able to get the top scores here without a Cursed Technique, while Izuku and Katsuki were the exact opposite. This distinction made it clear that quirk wise, the former two were better at this kind of test.

This honestly didn't bother either boy, as they knew that not everyone was going to be good at everything in most cases. But Izuku clearly stood above the rest, as he was at the top of the test overall.

Grip Strength

Izuku decided to test himself a bit and apply a minimal amount of Cursed Energy into his left arm to avoid the same mistake he made with his legs. This paid off since his maximum was 572 kgs.

"Not bad, your score is about the same as mine." The tallest and youngest kid in class, Shoji, noted.

"Game recognizes game, my man." The shaded teen smirked as he high fived the octo-armed student.

Repeated Side Step

Due to not wanting to possibly risk collapsing, Izuku abstained from using Cursed Energy or One for All this time. He knew his limits, and didn't want to test them right now.

So he settled for getting a lower score. It was only one test, so it was hardly an issue.

Ball Throw

It was now the ball throw and Ochako got first place by getting a score of infinity.

Next up was Himiko, who stuck one of her needles into the ball and started whirling it around with a string of cursed energy like a Sumarian Soldier would with a sling.

Then she let it fly, getting a decent score of 504 meters. Right below Katsuki.

Next up was Izuku.

"Hey Mr. Aizawa, mind if I try something out with my first throw? I wanna try and use a reverse cursed technique I've been working on but don't want it to affect my score if it doesn't work." The boy requested.

"Hm… Alright, sure. Let's see it." The Man hummed before nodding after a moment of thought as he tossed a softball at the teen.

"Alright, first the throw." Izuku nodded as he hurled the ball as hard as possible. "And now the booster." He continued as he aimed a finger gun at the orb. "Reverse Cursed Technique: Divergence Red." He intoned as red energy started to gather on his finger before…

BOOM!

The resulting blowback explosion caused him to slam into a wall after being sent flying, while the ball was sent the opposite direction.

"... 725 meters. That's a lot of power." Aizawa remarked, looking at his phone.

"Yeah… I'm okay, by the way…" The Infinity user groaned as he picked himself up. "Damn it, it always does that, if it doesn't just fizzle off outright." He groaned.

"Here, I got you." Himiko said as she came over and helped walk him back over to the others.

"Have I ever told you how much I love you?" The boy told her.

"You could stand to mention it a bit more." The shapeshifter quipped in reply with a grin.

"I love you." Izuku whispered in her ear, causing the girl to feel a shiver run up and down her spine.

"Midoriya, you said you didn't want your test to affect your final score, but it looks good to me." Aizawa spoke up, getting the currently shaded teen's attention. "Do you want to take another go or stick with what you got just now?" He asked.

"Urg, let's just keep it and call it a happy accident. I don't think I can handle another go." The boy sighed.

"Fair enough." The man nodded before looking at the others. "Next!" He prompted.

(Later)

The rest of the tests went by pretty uneventfully from then on out so Izuku decided to just coast on through the rest of them, not really feeling any need to push himself any further.

After a while, the tests were over.

"I'm not going to bother calling out each of your names and rankings throughout all of this, so here's the list." Aizawa said as he activated a holographic projection of the leaderboard for the tests.

Izuku found himself solidly in the top five. Right around third place just above Katsuki and with Himiko being just below her fellow Pomeranian. The top two were Shoto Todoroki and Momo Yaoyorozu and the rest fell down from Himiko.

"Oh, and I was lying about expulsion." Aizawa told them, much to the shock of all but a few. "That was just a rational deception to make you all perform better." He added with a grin.

"Okay, now that just pisses me off." Izuku grumbled, arms folded as his veins bulged.

"Ditto…" Himiko growled irritably.

"Anyway, all of you get changed and pick up a syllabus in the classroom." Aizawa told them.

As the kids did so, Izuku decided to catch up with Himiko on their way to the locker room.

"Hey, I know this really good rolled ice cream place on Jig Jig street, you wanna go there after school?" He asked.

"I could go for something cold and sweet right now, honestly." The cat-eyed girl sighed in reply. "I think I'll take you up on that." She told him.

"Alright. Meet me at the crosswalk after you get changed. We'll go from there." The boy told her as they parted ways to get changed.

(Later)

After things were done for the day, Izuku and Himiko met up and headed for their intended destination.

The ice cream place that Izuku had selected for their after school date was a place called Peach Tree Rolled Ice Cream, a place that utilized cold stone counters to roll their ice cream, add desired toppings and also had banana splits, bubble waffle sundaes and cones and of course different types of Boba tea, lemonade and Vietnamese coffee.

"Wow, you picked a good spot!" Himiko blinked as she looked around, seeing the various employees at work.

"I figured it would be the option given both our individual tastes." The boy shrugged.

"Well, from the look of things, you got the right idea." The girl nodded as they took their seats. "I wonder what they got…" She mused, inwardly hoping they had some favorite flavors of hers.

"Hello, welcome to Peach Tree. What can I get you two?" The receptionist questioned from behind the desk.

"I'd like the Reese's S'mores ice cream roll." Izuku told the receptionist.

"And I'll take the strawberry cheesecake bubble waffle." Himiko nodded.

"Anything to drink?" The receptionist asked.

"Brown sugar milk tea/Strawberry milk tea with pomegranate pearls." The two replied at the same time.

"Right. I'll get your orders handed in and made." The receptionist nodded as she led the two to a table and let them get seated. "That'll be ¥6,318." She told him.

"Of course." Izuku nodded as he paid for the food and drinks.

It wasn't long before they got their respective ice creams and their drinks, allowing them to dig in immediately.

"Wow…" Himiko gasped in delight as the ice cream hit her taste buds. "I don't recall ever coming here before, so this is the best first visit ever." She admitted.

"Well, I just wanted to help make you feel better after the absolute crap fest that was our first day of school." The shaded teen sighed. "Especially since I knew that something had to be up with Mr. Aizawa's expulsion thing from the get go, the whole thing felt off." He added, eating some more ice cream in a fume.

"No kidding. 'Rational deception' my ass…" The girl grumbled, far from amused. "If this is what the next three years have in store for us, then I feel like I'll get gray hairs before long…" She groaned.

"Well next time Aizawa tries to pull a fast one on us, I'm gonna call his bluff, cuz I'm gonna see it coming." The boy declared, taking off his shades.

"Oh? How so?" His girlfriend questioned.

"Simple: Because I have really good eyes." He stated, his Six Eyes looking right at her.

And for all intents and purposes, he was not wrong in the slightest.

Dragon Emperor0: Hey guys. Sorry about the wait, we had other stories to attend to, and most recently I was just catching up with a friend I hadn't heard from in awhile and got to talking about another one of my other stories so, yeah. We've been busy.

ThermalsniperN7: Yeah, life be like that sometimes. Also, just to try and stop a headache from coming at us: We saw nothing helpful in two of the reviews we responded to at the start of the chapter. We just saw hate dumps, and we were far from amused.

Dragon Emperor0: Yeah, so for future reference, all of you who just wanna dump on us: get out. All of you who have constructive criticism, helpful tips, suggestions and compliments? You can stay. We enjoy and appreciate your patronage.

ThermalsniperN7: Pretty sure patronage can only be applied to money, but I get the meaning here. Anyway… Looks like Izuku can use Cursed Energy in a manner similar to One for All. That's nifty, especially if he can bulk his body up a bit more.

Dragon Emperor0: It's like Gojo said in season two. Cursed energy is crystallized negative emotion, while it can enhance the body it can't regenerate it. In order to do that, you have to multiply that negative energy against itself to create positive energy to regenerate the body. A realization that Izuku hasn't quite figured out just yet.

ThermalsniperN7: And in regards to Jujutsu classes in UA… Yeah, not much of anything on that front given how Cursed Spirits only came back after Izuku was born. Even in that time, not a whole lot of people cared to learn it, or just lacked the aptitude. Seriously, could you see the likes of ENDEAVOR having the patience to learn Jujutsu Sorcery?

Dragon Emperor0: Yeah. Anyway, hope you guys will keep things up, see you guys next time.
